Arm Swings
With closed fists bend elbows and alternate swinging your arms back and forth slowly. Try to push your elbow as far behind you as you comfortably can. When swinging your arm up, attempt to bring your elbow up to your ear.
Torso Stretch
Leg Extension
Slowly lift one leg until its straight, foot flexed. Hold one second, then lower. Repeat with other leg. Start with 3, add more as you get stronger.
Clasp hands together in front of torso. Raise hands above head, trying to touch the ceiling. Hold for one second. Lower hands and repeat. Try to add an additional second to the hold as you get stronger.
Arm Reaches
Reach your right hand to the ceiling and gently lean to your left, feeling the stretch along your side. Hold for one second, then switch to your left hand. Try to hold the stretch for 2–3 seconds.
Start with 5 swings, add more as you get more comfortable.
Torso Twists
Placing both hands on top of your head, or your shoulders, gently move your upper body from side to side. Stop if you feel any discomfort. Try to do 2 twists to begin with.
Senior / Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption The Matanuska-Susitna Borough offers a property tax exemption program for senior citizens and disabled veterans. Eligible seniors, aged 65 and above, and disabled veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 50% or more can apply. Applications are due by April 30 for the upcoming tax year.
This exemption can cover up to ,000 of the assessed property value. Applicants must be Alaska residents for the full year prior and must occupy the property as their main residence. Limited funds for burial of a deceased person in need may also be available. Households must have an immediate, specific need and not have the ability to use other resources in order to be eligible. State of Alaska Division of Vocational Rehabilitation: Offers free services designed to assist those with disabilities in obtaining job training, on-the-job training, job search and placement, Medical Assistance Portal and tutoring.
