ART ZINE

A reflection on belonging, access, and lived experience

This digital zine accompanies Majestic, a visual exploration of identity as lived territory.

The work begins from one experience, but it does not end there. It reflects how belonging, access, and navigation shape the way students move through academic spaces.

You are invited to explore, reflect, and connect at your own pace.

01 Belonging

Belonging is not something everyone feels immediately. For many students, it develops slowly—through shared spaces, quiet moments, and repeated experiences.

It can exist in classrooms, hallways, libraries, and conversations. It can also feel absent, especially when environments are unfamiliar or expectations go unspoken.

Belonging grows when people feel recognized without needing to explain who they are or where they come from.

This work reflects belonging not as a destination, but as a process—one shaped by visibility, access, and time.

02 Access

Access is often invisible to those who already have it. For others, it shapes every step of the academic experience.

Understanding systems, language, and expectations is not always intuitive. Some students inherit this knowledge, while others learn it gradually through experience.

Equity begins with recognizing that access is not the same for everyone. It is shaped by resources, guidance, and familiarity—not effort alone.

This work invites awareness of how access influences belonging and opportunity within shared spaces.

“Access isn’t tHe sAme for eVeryone, And tHAt’s okAy to Admit.”
“Being seen feels good, BUt Being Understood is eVerytHing.”

03 VisiBility

Visibility can create connection, but it can also create pressure.

Being seen does not always mean being understood.

For some, visibility brings representation and pride.

For others, it brings expectations, assumptions, or the feeling of being watched more closely.

This work reflects visibility as a balance— between presence and protection, expression and safety.

True visibility allows people to exist fully, without carrying the weight of constant explanation.

“sometimes i wAnt to disAppeAr; otHer times i wAnt to Be known.”
“nAVigAtion isn’t ABoUt knowing eVerytHing—it’s ABoUt knowing wHere to stArt.”

This work approaches unity as coexistence— where multiple stories can exist without being
