We are delighted to once again be able to organize our annual Christmas Market and Christmas Tree Lights Switch On.

Although the cost of using Penny’s Walk for a Charity Community Event has become prohibitive, thanks to Ferndown Town Council and Dorset Council we have the whole of Penny’s Lodge Car Park for this year’s event.

Christmas in Ferndown is our Community Event for all the family with Market Stalls, Live Entertainment, Children’s Rides, Refreshments and the absolute must …Santa’s Grotto.

Santa’s Grotto will again be in The Barrington Centre and Santa will welcome children of all ages. For a modest fee of just £5 the children will receive a present from Santa whilst parents can take advantage of the photo opportunity.

Our friends from Forest FM will be playing music and broadcasting throughout the day.

At the end of the day the traditional Switch On of the Christmas Tree Lights will take place.

We hope that this will signal the start of a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for everyone.

FINDS A NEW HOME

The much-loved Christmas in Ferndown event is back again this year –but with an important change. From now on, the celebrations will be held at Penny’s Lodge Car Park, behind the Barrington Centre.

This move began at the end of 2024, when last-minute changes meant the event could not go ahead in its traditional spot at Penny’s Walk. Despite many years of being held there, an agreement could not be reached with Tesco and their managing agents to allow the space to be used.

At the start of 2025, organisers tried once again to negotiate terms to return to Penny’s Walk, but unfortunately the costs demanded made it impossible to proceed. As a result, Penny’s Lodge Car Park will now be the long-term home of Christmas in Ferndown.

Visitors may also notice the absence of Christmas lights in Penny’s Walk and on the clock tower this year. Once again, the Town Council was unable to secure permission from Tesco’s agents to provide the necessary vehicle access for the installation of the decorations.

The organisers would like to extend their sincere thanks to Ferndown Town Council and Dorset Council for their ongoing support and for making Penny’s Lodge Car Park available.

Last year’s event in the new location was a huge success, and this year promises to be even bigger and better – with the whole of the car park dedicated to festive fun. Christmas in Ferndown looks forward to welcoming the community once again to celebrate the season together in its new home.

SANTA’S GROTTO

We have it on good authority that Santa Claus is coming to town

Yes, that’s right folks, Santa has confirmed he will be in Ferndown again this year. He is excited to meet all the children and will be in his grotto at the Barrington Centre from 11am to 4.45pm. So make sure you pay him a visit. Every child that he sees will receive a present and parents are welcome to take a photo of their little ones with him.

CHRISTMAS MARKET

Open from 11am, the Christmas market is set to be bigger and better than last year. It will be full of stalls offering gift ideas, local crafts and games for the children. There will be hot food and drink stalls to keep you well fuelled. The Christmas market is also where you will find the mince pie and mulled wine stall, and giant raffle - which is always very popular!

Our friends at Townsend’s Amusements will be joining us again this year. Having attended the Christmas in Ferndown event since 2014, they are always a big hit with the kids. This year they will be bringing with them more for us all to enjoy.
