TheCurseof Comparison

A lot of people struggle in their 20's, particularly in this day and age, because of the curse of comparison. We live in a culture of curated perfection where you’re constantly comparing yourself to your peers’ filtered appearance on Instagram and the life they seem to be living. In your twenties, relationships can feel like a high-stakes game. The pressure to find “the one” is ever-present, fuelled by societal norms and social media highlight reels of engagements, weddings, and picture-perfect couples. For many, the twenties are a time of navigating the complexities of romantic relationships while also managing friendships that have evolved from the schoolyard to adulthood. The fear of missing out on true love or losing touch with old friends can be a significant source of stress.

Simultaneously, the career ladder looms large. The transition from the classroom to the workforce is a jarring shift, often marked by uncertainty and imposter syndrome. The pursuit of a dream job, or even just a stable one, can feel like an endless marathon. Balancing ambitions with the realities of entry-level positions and the struggle for financial independence adds another layer of pressure. The constant comparison with peers who appear to be more successful exacerbates the sense of urgency and self-doubt.

This decade is not just about surviving but finding a balance between ambition and selfcompassion, making it an extraordinarily challenging yet transformative phase of life.

We asked the public: What advice would you tell your 18 year old self?

Don't worry about what other people think about what you wear, I defo did that younger now I don't give a fuck. Don't just shop in one place, search around, there's so much out there.

Take your time to figure out what you want and who you are as a person. Think about your own timeline and do what you know you will enjoy. Find the balance between enjoying the process and still having your head screwed on.

Don't worry about what people think say all because nobody cares in 5 years time when your at school, you really care about what people think but in reality, nobody gives a fuck!

Stop giving a shit about what people think and trust your gut, we overthink as society, we are so overexposed to others lives we get stuck in our heads about what other people are doing, we don't put enough time into nurturing ourselves. Put energy into yourself, retune and nurture your gut instinct.

Try and do what you really want to do even if mothers don't think it's the right thing. Because I didn't do what I wanted, I would've liked to be a midwife but I ended up in the civil service.

TIME IS MONEY

FashionMeetsFinance

For many of us, collecting watches is the perfect blend of fashion and finance. These timepieces are stylish accessories that can also serve as smart investments. As the market for luxury watches continues to grow, so does the potential for making a good return on investment. Plus, it’s a hobby that connects you with a community of like-minded enthusiasts.

InterviewwithaSeniorClientAdvisoratRolex

What initially drew you to the watch industry, and what do you enjoy most about working at Rolex?

There's just something cool about how these tiny, intricate machines can keep time so perfectly. I got hooked on the craftsmanship and the stories behind the watches—each one is like a mini piece of art that you can wear. Working at Rolex is a dream because it’s not just a job; it’s about connecting with people who share that same passion. The best part? Seeing someone’s face light up when they get their hands on a watch they've been dreaming about— it’s priceless.

In your opinion, what factors have contributed to the surge in interest in luxury watches as investment assets?

A bunch of things have come together to make luxury watches a hot investment. For one, there’s the whole idea of scarcity—Rolex doesn’t flood the market with its watches, so they naturally become more valuable over time. Plus, in today’s unpredictable financial world, people are looking for something solid to invest in, and watches are a tangible asset that’s also pretty cool to own. And let’s be real—social media plays a huge role. When you see your favourite celeb rocking a certain model, it instantly becomes more desirable.

Are there specific Rolex models you’ve noticed have become particularly popular among collectors and investors? If so, why do you think that is?

Definitely! The Daytona, especially vintage ones like the “Paul Newman” edition, is super popular because of its rarity and the whole story behind it. Then there’s the Submariner, with models like the “Hulk” and “Kermit” being really in demand—partly because of their limited availability and also because they’ve got that iconic design. The GMT-Master II, with its “Pepsi” and “Batman” bezels, is another big hit. Why? It’s all about the combo of exclusivity, history, and just a straight-up cool factor.

How does Rolex maintain the balance between meeting demand and ensuring the exclusivity of its watches, which contributes to its investment appeal?

Rolex is all about keeping things exclusive. They’ve got a really smart way of controlling how many watches they produce, so even though there’s a huge demand, not everyone can get their hands on one right away. That scarcity is what keeps the brand’s appeal high.

What do you think the future holds for the watch investment market? Are there any trends or developments that you believe will shape the industry in the coming years?

The watch investment market is definitely going to stay strong, but it’s going to evolve. One big trend I see is the increasing love for vintage and limited-edition pieces. As people get more into watch collecting, the rare stuff is only going to get more valuable. We might also see some cool tech developments, like using blockchain for authentication, which could make buying and selling watches more secure. Sustainability is another area to watch. People are becoming more conscious of the environmental impact of their purchases, and brands that can show they’re doing good in that area might attract more attention. Also, keep an eye on emerging markets like Asia and the Middle East—they’re growing fast and could really shake things up in the luxury watch world. All in all, it’s an exciting time to be into watches, whether you’re a collector or an investor.

Surprisingly, a growing number of singles are lacing up their running shoes and finding love in an unexpected place: run clubs. These groups, once solely dedicated to fitness and personal goals, have evolved into dynamic social spaces where relationships—both platonic and romantic—flourish.

Run clubs have long been a staple of the fitness community, offering a way for runners of all levels to connect, stay motivated, and achieve their goals. However, as the popularity of these clubs has grown, so too has their role as social hubs. Today, run clubs are more than just a place to work up a sweat; they're becoming one of the hottest spots for meeting new people and, for many, finding a potential partner.

The appeal is clear. Unlike the pressure-filled environments of bars or the awkwardness of first-date scenarios, run clubs offer a lowstakes, natural setting where friendships—and more—can develop over time. The shared experience of working towards a common goal creates a unique bond that can easily transition into deeper connections.

RUNCLUB SOLEMATES

meetand

This summer, Tinder and Runna are teaming up to create the ultimate IRL dating experience: Solemates run club. Set against the backdrop of Central London, these events are designed to bring singles together in a fun, active, and relaxed setting. Over three weeks in June and July, participants will lace up their running shoes and hit the pavement for a 5k run, all while connecting with potential matches.

The fun doesn’t stop at the finish line. After the run, participants are invited to a post-run social, where they can relax, enjoy some drinks and nibbles, and get to know their fellow runners better. This is where the sparks can really fly, as runners have the opportunity to see if the connection they felt during the run extends beyond the track. Plus, there will be co-branded goody giveaways to add a little extra excitement to the mix.

Whether you're there to meet a Tinder match or just to make new friends, these events offer a fresh and exciting way to connect in real life. So, get set, and get ready to date with SoleMates run clubs this summer!

But don't worry, because finding a new group of friends who can take your mind off the stress of finding a place to live or those endless trips to IKEA can make the whole process smoother. However, making friends as an adult is easier said than done. Big cities can be lonely, and feeling like an outsider when you're new is expected. But fear not! We've compiled a list of the coolest groups where you can meet awesome new people, along with some tips to help you broaden your social circle.

Not knowing anyone in a city can actually be a great thing! It's a chance for a fresh start, especially if you're coming from a small town. You can be yourself in the city and find people who share your interests. Be confident and assume that people will like you, as fear of rejection prevents you from initiating friendships. With this attitude, you'll have a new bestie in no time!

Calling all the adventurous ladies! Gutsy Girls is a community for women who love new experiences and challenges in the great outdoors. They offer a variety of events, from exciting skiing holidays in the Nordic mountains to fun weekend retreats just a short train ride from London.

So many social events involve alcohol, like going to the pub or hitting the clubs. Well, the Sober Girl Society is a super cool and safe space for women who are sober or just curious about the sober life. They've got all kinds of tips and resources online, and they also throw fun in-person events like booze-less brunches and dance classes. It's all about connecting with awesome, like-minded friends.

Saying yes to more invites opens up more opportunities to meet new people. Even if you're at an event out of your comfort zone or asked to play a sport you're not very good at, you might surprise yourself and have a great time.

The Lonely Girls Club is making a difference by combating the loneliness epidemic with its welcoming online community of over 80,000 members. They offer online forums for members to connect and chat, as well as fun weekly events for members to attend solo. Exciting upcoming events include their September book club and friendship speed dating.

LetsTalk:MentalHealth

Taking care of your mental health is like giving your mind the same TLC you would give your body. Just like you wouldn’t skip your nightly skin-care routine, or your gym sessions, you shouldn’t skip looking after your mental wellbeing. We know how hard life can be, it throws a lot at us - work stress, placements, deadline dates and relationship ups and downs. It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed, and by managing these stresses you become more equipped to take on whatever life hurls at your way in the future. Everyone deals with their emotions in different ways and prioritising your mental health is about finding out what works best for you. Taking small steps to alleviate tensions in your everyday life will improve your health, not just emotionally, but physically too. Being in a positive head space will impact your whole self, so you can be your best self. So whether that’s journaling, walking your dog or taking a tech free bath at the end of the day - its needed!

Gen Z is quickly being labeled as the "most depressed and anxious generation" due to rising levels of mental illness among young people. One concerning statistic is that men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women. The phrase “man up” is one we hear far too often in today’s society, often reinforcing the idea to young men that they shouldn’t cry or show any vulnerability. But showing emotion is a sign of strength, not weakness. It’s about time we challenge stereotypes and normalize taboo conversations. Opening up to someone about your feelings and anxieties can take a huge weight off your shoulders, as well as help build relationships and deeper connections with the people in your support system. We’re here to tell you boys, that opening up about your feelings isn’t just okay, it’s necessary!

Your mental health really does matter.

Is Gen Z ageing like milk? Who is really to blame? Twelve-yearolds are swapping Disney for Drunk Elephant and poking fun at millennials for not using enough sunscreen or retinol to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. For generations, women have been the primary target for anti-ageing beauty products. Still, now Gen Z is taking a more drastic approach by resorting to cosmetic procedures and using Botox and fillers to maintain a youthful appearance. However, could this approach do the opposite and make them look older?

Dr Barrett, a plastic surgeon popular among celebrities, recently posted a video on social media in which he guessed the average age of the women who appeared on the most recent season of Love Island and speculated whether they had undergone cosmetic procedures. Dr Barrett also mentioned that some contestants looked as old as 42 and stated that, in his opinion, none had a natural appearance. The women were all in their early twenties.

Some of Gen Z's most beloved celebrities, such as Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner, have openly admitted to undergoing plastic surgery. While it's refreshing for these celebrities to discuss such a taboo topic, their influence on their admirers can be harmful. Cosmetic surgeons and nurses have reported that young women often come in requesting to look like their favourite celebrities, and some practitioners have taken advantage of this trend by offering packages like 'the Kylie Jenner' or 'the Bella Hadid,' encouraging customers to emulate the looks of their idols.

Why does cosmetic work make Gen Z look older? Dr Ziechner explains that the issue is the excessive use of injectables: "Using too much filler can actually cause puffiness. However, unless you are using extreme amounts of filler, it is unlikely that the skin will be stretched to the point that it will become loose in the future." Starting Botox at a young age as a preventative treatment and overdoing it in certain areas can damage the muscles and create new wrinkles.

Gen Z's focus on maintaining a youthful appearance is somewhat optimistic. Many young influencers who share their skincare routines emphasize using SPF. Sun exposure is a significant contributor to skin damage and ageing, accounting for up to 90% of visible changes in the skin associated with ageing. Gen Z is well-informed about the risks of sun exposure and the importance of staying out of direct sunlight. They diligently apply sunscreen to preserve their youthful appearance and protect themselves from the potential harm of developing melanoma.

In today's digital age, we are witnessing more frequent alterations to our appearance through various filters, editing tools, and the influence of social media personalities. This has led to a growing concern about ageing. However, acknowledging and accepting the natural ageing process may be more beneficial. Engaging in cosmetic procedures could inadvertently result in an older appearance and lead to a cycle of seeking further treatments in pursuit of a youthful look. Regardless of the choices, embracing the inevitable ageing process is essential. Ultimately, we can collectively appreciate the timeless beauty of our mothers and grandmothers.

2024 Olympics: Gold Medal Style

“Victory Travelsin LouisVuitton”

As the 2024 Olympics commence in the fashion capital, Paris, athletes from around the globe gather in the city of love to compete in over 30 sports. Years of training culminate into this monumental event. However, the modern Olympics encompasses more than just athletic prowess. Today, the Olympics has transformed into a spectacle of global fashion and sports personalities. Gone are the days of conformity to traditional and unstylish uniforms; we now anticipate cutting-edge designs, statement jewelry, and maximalist accessorizing. Will 2024 be a year to remember for Olympic fashion?

Leading sportswear brands are in fierce competition to sponsor the world's fastest men and women. The rivalry between the brands is as intense as the competition on the field. Each medal won by an athlete wearing their logo is a significant victory, contributing to the brand's success at the Olympics. The star power of winning athletes enhances the reputation of the brands in the eyes of consumers.

As LVMH unveiled their premium partnership with the 2024 Olympics, Louis Vuitton is set to showcase a limited edition collection for athletes and VIPs. According to Louis Vuitton, their collection will embody the connection between sport and fashion, sharing their same quest for excellence, and transport spectators back to the 1850's when ‘Louis Vuitton revolutionized travel with protective trunks’. Their visionary includes creating trunks, using their timeless monogram pattern, to house the torches and medals at the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The collaboration celebrates the fusion of sport fanatics and fashion-lovers, adding a touch of sophistication and effortless luxury to the world’s biggest stage. Who wouldn’t want their gold medal served to them on a LV platter? Iconic.

The Track is the Runway

Beyond the official gear, athletes are making waves with their personal style. Personalizing their kit, competing while fully glammed up, and trying out different hairstyles on competition days have become popular trends. Athletes have totally transformed the track into their runway, using it as a platform for selfexpression by wearing top highperformance attire with customized details. We’re talking Olympic inspired grillz, funky hair charms and embroidered spikes. While wearing the GB kit is a great honor for the athletes, it can limit their creative output as they blend in with their teammates. Female athletes, in particular, use makeup and styling as a form of empowerment, demonstrating that they can prioritize beauty and still be taken seriously in the male-dominated world of sport. Fashion serves as a shield for athletes, giving them the confidence to perform under high-pressure situations. It's important for athletes to be role models for young fans, inspiring them not only with their athletic abilities but also with their fearless fashion choices.

The ultimate goal is to look good, feel good, and perform well.

STYLE RUNWAY

“I’m not race day ready without my full set of nails”

Could the glam appearances of athletes be a form of trendy tactics? Mental games are a huge part of competition. Race strategies, call room antics and psychological strength are all as cruical for athletes as the physical aspects. It can only be assumed that their gold medal style can subtly suggest superiority and assert dominance to opponents from the moment they step out.

Our Golden Girls

The GB track and field ladies are going for gold this summer and they’re the ultimate it girls. Keely Hodgkinson who runs a blistering 800m, looks like she’s going to break records every time she steps on the track. Dina Asher-Smith’s sense of style is as sensationally fierce as her sprinting. Revee Walcott-Nolan brings her unique hairstyles and nail designs to the middle distance races. We’re seeing double as identical twins Laviai and Lina Nielsen bring twice the energy with their knockout looks. They admit they aspire to bring home medals - but they want to look their best whilst doing it.

If you’re looking for who’s going to steal the show this Olympics, these five are it!

How to have a brat girl summer

what even is brat girl summer?

"Brat Girl Summer" is the cultural phenomenon that has taken the world by storm, inspired by Charli XCX's latest pop album, "Brat." Launched in early June, the album has become the ultimate anthem for this summer's party scene, drawing inspiration from London's early 2000s underground rave culture. The album's striking Slime Green cover has dominated social media, with fans crafting their "Brat" memes based on the album's artwork. Even Vice President Kamala Harris embraced the hype, featuring the album cover in her presidential campaign and rebranding "Brat" as "Kamala HQ."

Charli XCX paints the picture of "Brat Girl Summer" as synonymous with "a pack of cigs, a Bic lighter, and a strappy white top with no bra." This season, it's all about ditching Pilates and green juice in favour of tequila shots, unforgettable nights out, and waking up without worrying about last night's makeup. Embracing the 'Brat' lifestyle celebrates female friendships, confidence, and self-love, core themes throughout the album.

You know that feeling where you get second hand embarrassment and look at each other in utter shock, but you can’t help but laugh because HOW COULD THEY GET IT SO WRONG?

So let me get this straight, business leaders think we want to live in a world of 100% technology, using virtual reality to eat sleep and breath? We are humans not robots! Sure, we might be glued to our phones but we are also trying to find a balance between letting technology help us stay connected and living in the moment, away from our phones with real human interaction!

WHERE ARE THESE STEREOTYPES COMING FROM?

This really made us think, is the stereotypes of Gen Z being screen obsessed really escalated to the point where the older generations have been brainwashed? Doesn’t this worry you that the ones with all the power could create a future of technology that we do not actually want?

One guy told us that he just invested thousands into a new shopping system where it recognises your shopping profile when you arrive in-store to provide instant recommendations. We of course told him he has wasted his money… we want to go to the shops to have a browse and styles are changing all the time. Cool idea but too futuristic and unrealistic.

According to a quick survey completed by Gen Zs themselves, we asked them if they agree or disagree with the following stereotypes. 70% admit that social media influences them and the type of lifestyle they want to live.

They also admitted to the fact it causes them to feel pressured and anxious. They admit that our generation is too easily offended and that we are money obsessed. However, they were addiment that we are not lazy or entitled and that we are not weak or have poor mental health.

Stereotypes related to the workplace include “Gen Z do not want to work” and “Gen Z only want to work from home”. Way over half of Gen Z think these are outrageous accusations and that we are indeed motivated individuals.

So are these stereotypes completely absurd? The last question read “Do you want the most advanced technology in your day to day life in the future e.g VR headsets for everything? And of course, the answer was quite frankly… NO!
