2026 Mid-Session Snapshot

IMMIGRATION

There are an estimated 60,000 illegal immigrants in Idaho. Despite the fact that roughly 80 percent of Idahoans say they want immigration laws enforced and those here illegally deported, Governor Little and much of the Republican establishment appear unwilling to act. Instead, their policies suggest a willingness to accommodate those here unlawfully rather than prioritize the citizens of Idaho. Why? Answer: Big Ag. Who is really running our state and statehouse?

IMMIGRATION BILLS

BUDGET

Note: Rep. Stone debated against S1331 on the House floor before ultimately voting YES.

Senate Bill 1331 sought a meager rescission of federal spending. The measure successfully passed the Senate by a single-vote

“Is it truly the role of government to become a permanent charity or have we lost sight of the principles that build a free and self-governing people?”

- Senator Zuiderveld

DEFENSE OF MARRIAGE

HJM17 Marriage Equality Memorial

As the 2026 MVLA Voter Guide goes to print, the Legislature will be in session for several more weeks and only a handful of bills have made it across the rotunda to the other chamber.

Immigration and budget bills dominate this session that has seen more pieces of legislation introduced to date than in the previous five years.
