Did you know that the Federal Government has started a new program that will have $1000 available for babies born in the United States between January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028 that can be claimed on IRS form 4547 when they file their taxes providing the parents are also US citizens? Additional amounts up to $5000 per years can be added to these accounts with $2500 from employers. The accounts are invested in low cost S&P index funds. These accounts grow until the child is 18 years old. At 18 the money can be used for education, buying a home, starting a business or just keep it growing. Other children not born during this 4 year period can also have this account opened by their parents but it will not have the initial $1000 deposit. These accounts can be opened at any bank or approved investment company. For more information please go to: Investamerica.org.
