Perdita

Modern, structured, the juxtaposition of strong and feminine. This gown is here to make a statement. From a draped skirt to a boned corset, she has a bit of everything. The clean lines and sculpted silhouette make her feel effortlessly elevated, with just enough drama to turn heads from every angle.

Rosalind

She is here to dance the night away and bring all the sparkle! A long-sleeve, high-neckline mini with button detail at the neck and a mini slip. What more could you ask for from this after-party dress? It’s playful, polished, and made for the bride who wants to shine long after the formalities are done.

Miranda Cape

Cut from a lustrous, highshine fabric, it features an off-the-shoulder neckline with bold puff sleeves that frame the décolletage beautifully, balancing softness with sculptural structure. The skirt falls in effortless, sweeping folds for a clean, couture feel. Understated, elegant, and impossible to ignore.

Bow Veil

A custom, handmade veil finished with hand-tied ribbon bows for a playful yet elevated touch. Each bow is delicately positioned and individually hand-sewn onto the veil, creating the perfect balance of fun, fashion and timeless beauty. Ribbons are available in light blue (pictured), ivory, and white, with additional colours available on request. The veil is a double-tier 35-inch design, crafted in soft French tulle.

Bigger, bolder, bridal

New York Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2026 presented a new chapter for modern bridal design, one defined by craftsmanship, innovation and unapologetic grandeur.

As reported by Vogue’s Shelby Wax, designers collectively turned toward “bigger and bolder” statements, reaffirming that individuality and emotion remain at the heart of contemporary bridal fashion.

The reinvention of lace

Lace re-emerged as a leading material this season, though in more architectural and experimental forms than ever before. Designers such as Francesca Miranda, Kyha, Markarian, and House of Gillies approached the fabric with structural layering, bold patterning, and intricate appliqué techniques. Rather than relying on traditional motifs, collections embraced openwork lace, crochet detailing, and textural combinations that balanced delicacy with dimension.

Embellishment as illumination

This season also confirmed the return of high embellishment. Gowns across multiple collections featured sequins, pearls, crystal appliqués, and fine beadwork. Designers such as Elie Saab, Marmar Halim, and Floure leaned into extravagance, creating gowns that transformed movement into spectacle.

The bow becomes a statement

The traditional bridal bow experienced a deliberate reimagining. No longer confined to the back of gowns, bows appeared prominently at the front, whether structured across the bodice or draped in soft satin at the waist. As Vogue observed, at least a dozen gowns featured this motif, signalling its rise as one of the season’s most recognisable details.

Outwear recognised

Capes, coats, and layered wraps emerged as defining features of this season’s bridal collections. Designers, including One/Of, Sept, and Monique Lhuillier, showcased outerwear not as a practical layer, but as an integral component of the gown’s overall design. Textured fabrics, such as feathered trims, lace overlays, and minimalist structured coats, added both function and character. This trend is giving brides who are marrying in the cooler months greater adaptability, as well as the opportunity for a visual transformation throughout their day. The result is a trend that harmonises practicality with haute couture composition.

Experimental textiles

Material innovation played a massive role at NYBFW Fall 2026. Traditional satins and tulles were contrasted with unconventional fabrics, such as laser-cut feathers, chain-mail-like textiles, and organza with fluid, metallic finishes. These experimental materials demonstrated that bridal fashion is increasingly a site of both technical exploration and beauty. By blending advanced fabrication with precision, these designers have expanded on what a wedding dress can be: expressive, tactile, and unbound by convention.

The return of volume

After several years of restraint, volume has returned to the bridal silhouette. Ballgowns with sweeping skirts and layered underskirts dominated the collections, reflecting a resurgence of grandeur. Designers balance this with more structured bodices, creating sculptural proportions that feel modern rather than nostalgic.

Multi-moment dressing

A final key trend was the introduction of second-day and reception-ready looks. Bridal design is increasingly accommodating of multi-event celebrations, with gowns, mini dresses, and tailored suits for rehearsal dinners, after-parties, and post-wedding brunches. This evolution shows how weddings have changed. The modern bride now moves gracefully through a number of environments, with fashion designed to transition between them. The emphasis is on versatility without compromise.

A season of expression

Overall, the trends unveiled at New York Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2026 point to a season defined by creative freedom. Lace is no longer restrained, embellishment is no longer considered excessive, and outerwear is no longer an afterthought. This new direction in bridal design shows brides and brides-to-be around the world that drama and detail, comfort and couture, can coexist beautifully.

From petal to plate

Your wedding cake is more than a dessert — it’s a centrepiece, a photo moment, and a reflection of your celebration’s style.

While baking your own cake may seem personal or cost-effective, it often brings unnecessary stress at a time when calm is priceless.

Professional cake designers combine years of technical skill with specialised equipment, precise timing, and food-safety knowledge to ensure a flawless result. From structural stability and flawless finishes to flavour balance and dietary considerations, every detail is carefully planned and tested in advance.

Wedding cakes must also travel, stand for hours, and be cut and served seamlessly — all while looking perfect. Temperature control, storage, and last-minute handling are critical and difficult to manage at home.

In the days leading up to your wedding, your time is better spent resting, celebrating, and enjoying the moment. Leaving your cake to a professional ensures it tastes as good as it looks — and lets you savour your day, stress-free.

Your wedding flowers are far more than décor — they shape the atmosphere, appear in nearly every photograph, and help tell the visual story of your day.

While DIY florals may seem like a budget-friendly option, they often compromise continuity, quality, and peace of mind. Professional florists bring years of experience, a refined artistic eye, and access to premium, seasonal blooms sourced from trusted growers. Every arrangement is intentionally designed to flow seamlessly across bouquets, ceremony spaces, and tables, ensuring a cohesive look that enhances both the venue and the bridal style.

Floristry is a skilled craft, requiring technical knowledge, structural expertise, and careful flower conditioning well before the wedding day. It also demands time, space, and temperature-controlled storage — not last-minute kitchen bench styling. Most importantly, outsourcing your flowers frees you to focus on what truly matters: enjoying the lead-up, feeling relaxed, and being fully present on one of the most important days of your life.

Soft glam

BEAUTY TIPS FOR THE BIG DAY

Brides are moving away from dramatic, heavily contoured looks and instead embracing a more refined version of natural beauty.

Soft glam makeup enhances your features without overpowering them, striking a perfect balance between effortless elegance and long-lasting camera-ready glam.

What is soft glam bridal makeup?

It is focused on a seamless blend of subtle definition and glowing skin. It includes softly sculpted cheeks, neutral-toned eyeshadows, natural or fluttery lashes, and lips in glossy nudes or muted pinks. The finish is polished, but without harsh lines or intense pigments that could dominate your look. Wedding days are all about capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments, so this style is designed to look stunning from every angle, whether in natural light, candlelight, or under the flash of a camera. It feels modern yet timeless, meaning you’ll still love your wedding photos decades from now.

A look that can be personalised

Soft glam is more of a beauty philosophy than a single style, making it easy to customise. Want a little more definition in the eyes? Prefer a glossy nude lip to a matte one? Your makeup artist can adjust tones, finishes, and products to create a look that feels just right for your personality and wedding palette.

Schedule a bridal makeup and hair trial

A trial is one of the most important parts of creating your perfect soft glam moment. It gives you the chance to try different lashes, lip colours, foundation finishes, and hairstyles before the big day. Arrive with photos of looks you love and, if applicable, some you want to avoid, so your artist can clearly understand your tastes.

Soft glam is here to stay

Classic, flattering, and effortlessly chic, soft glam is more than a trend; it has become a beloved bridal beauty signature. With its focus on gentle enhancement, romantic hair, and a finish that stays flawless from morning prep to the last goodbye, it’s a style that truly stands the test of time.

Beyond the ceremony, The Boat House continues to deliver on atmosphere. With its riverside location and flexible event spaces, it’s a venue that invites guests to settle in and celebrate properly, whether that means mingling out on the decks, enjoying the open-air feel of the lawn, or moving inside as the reception unfolds.

Planning is also made smoother with practical inclusions and clear structure. Wedding venue hire provides access from 10am for decorating and set-up, with exclusive hire running through until late, giving couples time to personalise the space and enjoy a full wedding experience without feeling rushed.

Food and drink are a key part of the offering, with venue pricing structures around a minimum spend that includes venue hire, food and beverages. From the water’s edge to the open lawn and decks, The Boat House at The Riverhead is the kind of venue that doesn’t need overcomplicating, the setting speaks for itself. For couples wanting a wedding that feels scenic, relaxed and undeniably special, it’s a standout choice just outside of the city.

Where industrial heritage meets timeless romance

Set on 15 acres of Canterbury countryside, this beautifully restored 1940s flax-processing mill offers an unforgettable wedding experience full of character and charm. Featuring a range of elegant indoor and outdoor spaces perfect for intimate gatherings to larger celebrations. Unique touches like a moody whisky lounge hidden in a former steaming vault, and the option for luxurious on-site glamping, The Flaxmill offers a truly one-of-a-kind setting for couples seeking something extraordinary.

Memorable favours

Wedding favours have come a long way from the days of sugared almonds and one-size-fits-all trinkets. These days, couples are choosing keepsake wedding gifts that feel more personal, more practical, and more meaningful, something guests will genuinely want to take home, use, or hold onto long after the last song plays.

The best keepsake wedding gifts usually fall into two categories: sentimental or usable. Sentimental keepsakes are all about memory. Think a small framed photo, a custom postcard, or a handwritten note placed at each table setting. Even something simple, like a thank-you message printed with your wedding date, can become a little moment guests keep tucked away.

Usable keepsakes are the ones people love because they don’t feel like clutter. Candles are a favourite for a good reason, they suit almost every wedding theme, feel luxurious without being too expensive, and can be personalised with a label, scent name, or even a line from your vows. Another popular option is a small keepsake jar, like locally made honey, jam, or gourmet salt blends. These gifts feel thoughtful and often come with a sense of place, especially if they are sourced from your local region.

For couples who want something playful, personalised drink gifts can still be a hit, whether that’s mini bottles of wine, custom cocktail kits, or yes, personalised beer. The trick is thinking about presentation. A personalised label can look stylilsh and intentional, and it’s a fun nod to your personalities as a couple. But if you want it to feel more like a true keepsake, you can pair it with something lasting, like a custom bottle opener, a glass charm, or a small tag guests can keep.

If you are after something more symbolic, seed packets are a sweet choice, especially with a line like “Let love grow.” Mini potted plants or succulents also work beautifully, particularly for garden weddings or outdoor venues, and guests often love taking something living home. The best keepsake wedding gift isn’t about following trends. It’s about choosing something that reflects the day, your style and your gratitude in a form your guests will appreciate and remember.

Muri Beach Club Hotel

ESCAPE WITH ELEGANCE

Imagine soft white sand beneath your feet, a warm Pacific breeze around you, and a turquoise lagoon shimmering just beyond. The Muri Beach Club Hotel, an intimate adults-only hotel in Rarotonga, offers the romance, privacy, and polish that destination weddings deserve.

Muri Beach is Rarotonga’s crown jewel, a serene spot surrounded by offshore islets, where the water is so clear it sparkles under the sun. The hotel sits at the heart of this paradise, with uninterrupted views, beachfront dining, and direct lagoon access.

Whether you picture a barefoot beach ceremony, a floral archway framed by coconut palms, or a starlit reception beside the island’s largest saltwater pool, the scenery alone guarantees unforgettable memories.

MURI BEACH POINT, 5100, NUKUPURE DR, RAROTONGA, COOK ISLANDS

While the hotel is adults-only, children may attend the wedding ceremony and reception, allowing couples to include family in their celebration while preserving the hotel’s intimate atmosphere.

Crafted around your vision, a full-time wedding coordinator works exclusively with couples to ensure every moment unfolds seamlessly. Couples can choose from flexible wedding packages such as the Club Classic or All-Inclusive, which cover everything from archway décor and signing tables to full venue hire with fairy lights, tableware, and glassware.

The hotel partners with local florists, bakers, and celebrants who understand island weddings inside and out, ensuring each event is effortless, authentic, and breathtaking.

If you’re looking to keep things simple, the in-house team can also arrange extras like hen and stag parties, whether that’s a pampering spa day, a fishing charter, or an adventurous buggy tour.

The on-site restaurant, SilverSands, serves fresh island-inspired cuisine made with locally sourced, sustainably produced ingredients. By day, guests can kayak or snorkel in the lagoon; by night, they can enjoy cocktails under the stars.

For couples looking for something smaller or more symbolic, the hotel also offers intimate Renew Your Vows packages.

The celebration doesn’t have to end there. Muri Beach Club Hotel’s Honeymoon Packages add an indulgent touch for newlyweds staying on. Couples who stay for five or more nights enjoy special honeymoon bonuses, such as sparkling wine on arrival, breakfast in bed, and room upgrades, where available.

Unlike many overseas destinations, getting married in the Cook Islands is refreshingly straightforward and legally recognised worldwide. Couples need only arrive three working days before the ceremony (or apply for a waiver if time is tight). Your wedding coordinator handles the details, from celebrant bookings to arranging your visit to the registry office.

Perhaps what makes Muri Beach Club Hotel most special is its heart. Founded by local farmer John Scott more than a decade ago, the hotel remains proudly family-run under his daughter, Liana. Her passion for Cook Islands culture, connection to the land, and commitment to genuine hospitality shine through in every aspect of the property. Guests are treated not as clients, but as extended family.

As Muri Beach Club Hotel approaches its 20th anniversary, it continues to embody what destination weddings should be: elegant, effortless, and deeply personal.

Dreamy destinations

A tropical honeymoon is the ultimate post-wedding indulgence for couples dreaming of sun-soaked beaches, vibrant cultures, and unforgettable sunsets.

As the first adventure of married life, it promises intimate moments, shared discovery, and lasting memories. Tropical destinations are also increasingly popular for destination weddings, offering breathtaking backdrops to exchange vows and celebrate love.

Imagine saying “I do” with sand beneath your feet, an ocean breeze in your hair, and loved ones gathered on a pristine beachfront. The magic continues seamlessly into your honeymoon, eliminating extra travel and allowing more time to savour newlywed bliss.

From Samoa’s turquoise waters and white sands to the relaxed charm of Fiji and Rarotonga, these islands blend romance, relaxation, and adventure. Stay in an overwater bungalow, enjoy fresh seafood by the sea, explore coral reefs, or immerse yourselves in local culture. With options for adventure seekers, food lovers, and wellness enthusiasts alike, a tropical honeymoon offers the perfect setting for every love story.

The lagoon of love

When Skye Karpathy and Riley Collinson exchanged vows on the sun-kissed shores of Aroa Beach, they weren’t just beginning their marriage—they were honouring a love story that began when they were just 14 years old.

“If you had told me at 14 that I’d be standing here today, marrying my soulmate and best friend, I honestly would have laughed,” Skye shared in her vows. But there they stood, with their closest loved ones, at the very same resort where Riley’s parents had wed years before. The intimate ceremony, framed by soft island pastels and the endless Pacific horizon, felt like destiny. As Skye so beautifully put it: “Despite an ocean between us, and a million reasons we shouldn’t have crossed paths… we were meant to be.”

The celebration was everything a Cook Islands wedding should be—joyful, carefree and utterly unforgettable. After saying “I do”, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed pre-dinner drinks on Captain Andy’s Lagoon Deck before an Island BBQ reception at Treetops Verandah Room, complete with a spectacular fire show at sunset. “What could be such a stressful and busy day was really relaxing,” Skye recalls. “The resort’s wedding planners took care of everything—I hardly needed to bring anything from overseas.”

The couple’s personalized vows brought tears and laughter in equal measure, with Riley promising to “always fake tan your back, untangle your jewellery and fill up your water bottle,” while Skye spoke of a love so profound that “even eternity won’t be enough.”

For Skye and Riley, the days following their wedding were just as magical as the ceremony itself. They spent their first days as newlyweds in the hammocks outside their Beachfront Suite, recapping the joy of their special day under the Pacific sun. “The most special part was being able to just be together as newlyweds with the beautiful sea in the background,” Skye reflects. Her advice for couples considering a Rarotongan wedding? “Absolutely do it! Go with the flow and let the experts take you on the journey. It was the best stress-free time.” And with plans already underway for their return visit, it’s clear this island paradise will forever hold a piece of their hearts.

When the weather turns

YOUR RAIN PLAN FOR A PERFECT WEDDING

Every couple hopes for sunshine, but the truth is that rain on your wedding day doesn’t have to dampen your celebration. Some of the most cinematic, heartfelt, and memorable weddings unfold under drizzly skies.

Rain brings atmosphere, softens the light, deepens colours, and creates a kind of intimacy that clear skies can’t compete with. With preparation and a flexible mindset, wet weather can become part of the beauty rather than a source of stress.

Even if your dream ceremony is outdoors, it’s so important to have a Plan B that still feels special. Talk to your venue early about wet-weather alternatives, whether that’s a covered veranda, clear marquee, rustic barn, or an elegant indoor space that can be transformed without losing the romance. Ask practical questions too: how quickly can the venue switch setups, can chairs and décor be moved easily, and when does the final call need to be made? Knowing there’s a seamless backup plan in place can take the pressure off and help you stay calm.

If rain is in the forecast, prepare your outfit and accessories so you can move throughout the day with confidence. Some fabrics absorb moisture more easily, so it’s worth considering how your dress will behave in damp air. A reception dress or second outfit can also help you feel fresh later in the night. Waterproofing sprays for shoes, especially heels or delicate materials, are a quiet lifesaver.

And then there are umbrellas. Clear styles are classic because they protect you without darkening photos, and matching umbrellas for the bridal party look cohesive while keeping everyone comfortable. A stylish shawl, wrap, or cape can also add warmth without competing with your gown.

Rain doesn’t mean your glam needs to fall flat either. Most hair and makeup artists can create humidity-proof looks with the right products and styling choices, especially when you raise concerns during your trial. Keep a small touch-up kit nearby, and let your photographer guide you through the magic of rainy-day portraits. Soft, moody light, reflections in puddles, and cosy moments under cover can look beautifully romantic. End of the day, the weather is only the backdrop. The joy is still yours.

Do I need bridesmaids?

HOW TO DECIDE AND WHO TO CHOOSE

Bridesmaids have long been part of the wedding picture - matching dresses, shared memories, and someone to lean on along the journey to marriage.

But, as modern couples create weddings that feel more authentic and personal, one big question looms: Do I actually need bridesmaids?

The heart behind the tradition

Once upon a time, bridesmaids played a more practical role, helping prepare for the ceremony and symbolically protecting the bride from bad luck. Over time, that meaning has softened into something far more heartfelt.

Why you might not need bridesmaids

Not every wedding needs a bridal party, and that’s perfectly okay. Some couples choose to keep their ceremony small and personal, focusing solely on their connection. Others prefer not to add the extra planning, expense, or pressure that can come with managing a bridal party.

If you do want bridesmaids, how many?

There is no perfect number when it comes to bridesmaids. Some brides have one person they couldn’t imagine the day without; others have a circle of five or six who’ve been by their side for years. Think about the scale of your wedding, the atmosphere you’re creating, and who genuinely means the most to you. The right bridal party isn’t about numbers, it’s about connection.

Choosing

the people who feel right

Choosing your bridesmaids can be emotional, especially if you are close with many people. Start with how you feel about them. Who brings calm to the chaos? Who makes you laugh when things get stressful? Who’s genuinely happy for you, no matter what?

Setting gentle expectations

If you do have bridesmaids, it helps to have an open conversation early on. Talk about what you might need help with, and be mindful of what they can give. Not everyone will have the same time, energy, or budget, and that is more than okay.

A wedding that feels like you

Whether you have a bridal party of six, one, or none, what matters most is that your day feels genuine. Choose what makes your heart full. Whether that’s a small, peaceful morning getting ready with your mum and best friend, or a lively day surrounded by your entire crew, your wedding will be perfect because it’s yours.

Pro bridal shower tips 5

Rules every host should follow

Marriage celebrations often begin long before the wedding day, and the bridal shower is one of those first milestones. It’s a time for laughter, creating memories, and celebrating the bride with those closest to her, but the guest list can make or break the mood.

1 Only invite people who are invited to the wedding

This is the golden rule. No one should receive a bridal shower invitation unless they are also invited to the wedding. The shower is an intimate event that celebrates the upcoming marriage, so it would feel awkward, or even hurtful, to include anyone who won’t be part of the big day.

2 Let the bride have the final say

Even if you are hosting, the bride should have input. Some brides want a small, low-key gathering; others love the idea of a full house. Ask her to approve the list before you start planning.

3 Think about the type of shower

A bridal shower can take many forms: an elegant afternoon tea, a casual brunch, or a themed celebration. The tone of the event helps determine the size and mix of guests. A family-focused shower might include close relatives and lifelong family friends, while a friends-only shower could focus on the bridal party and mutual mates.

4 Keep it intimate

Unlike the wedding, which can include extended circles, the bridal shower is meant to feel personal. The sweet spot is usually between 10 and 30 guests, enough for lively conversation but small enough that everyone feels connected to the bride.

5 Don’t forget practical details

Think about the space and budget before finalising your list. A home-based shower might comfortably fit 20 guests, but a venue brunch can host more. Matching the guest count to the setting ensures the event feels relaxed rather than overcrowded.

Bring it all together

The best bridal showers feel thoughtful and cohesive, where everyone in the room genuinely matters to the bride. When in doubt, focus on connection over numbers. After all, the heat of the bridal shower isn’t the guest list itself; it’s the love and excitement that fill the room.
