A
s Christians, there can be a temptation to withdraw, to look away from the pain of the world because it is simply too much to bear. There is so much suffering, and to fully engage with it can feel overwhelming. Yet God sees. He knows. And with Him, we are invited to allow our hearts and eyes to see too, to acknowledge, to lament, and to draw near to the brokenness around us. To turn away is to protect ourselves, but it risks dulling our compassion and distancing us from the heart of God. Instead, we are invited into a costly attentiveness; learning to see with Him, while trusting that He alone carries the full weight of what we cannot bear. In this, we remain prayerful and responsive, sustained by His love. Revelation 7:15-17 (NIV) promises that, ultimately in the fullness of time, God will make everything right. ‘… and He who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’ We take great comfort in this glimpse of God’s future for His people. We seek to bring the realities of heaven to earth, and this is why we keep on loving, serving, praying, giving and sharing the Gospel whenever we have the chance. We are a people formed by hope, learning to reflect heaven on earth. Thank you for partnering with us in prayer.

How did your MAF journey begin? I had been aware of MAF for several years and had thought about becoming a pilot or engineer when I was younger. I ended up working in industry and at Rolls-Royce for a number of years; circumstances led me to replying to a recruitment email from MAF during COVID and the story unfolded from there. I can see the how the Holy Spirit has woven all the seemingly disconnected strands of our journey together, which has resulted in us now being in PNG.
You and your team have recently celebrated 75 years of MAF serving in PNG; what have been the most significant moments in that time? I don’t know if we could pick out any one moment. I’ve only been in PNG a relatively short time, but for me (Dom) it’s the continued faithfulness of MAF to keep serving communities year after year, the commitment to the people and the knowledge that there is still more to be done and more to come! God is faithful.
What are the PNG programme’s biggest needs right now? We want to recruit and train more national staff. We would love to see more national staff as pilots, engineers and in management roles. Now around 70% of our staff are nationals, which is wonderful, but we’d love to see this increase. They are so passionate about their country and about seeing change; they understand culture in a way we can’t, so they are best positioned to serve their own communities.
How can we pray for PNG today? We’d love prayer for the elections in 2027. They can cause so much unrest and violence, and significant disruption to communities. We would love these to be peaceful with the best outcomes for the nation. Also, that we would continue to reach people cut off, with only 2-3% of the country having roads and over 850 language groups without connection to the basics needed in life to thrive; there is still much to be done.

SUNDAY 4 Praise God that more than 50,000 people in Chuave District now have improved access to life-saving vaccines following the installation of a solar-powered vaccine fridge at Chuave Rural Hospital. Delivered through a partnership between MAF Technologies and Digicel Foundation, the system provides reliable and safe vaccine storage, supporting immunisation services by reducing disruptions caused by power outages. MONDAY 5 In the Western Province of PNG, many remote people thirst for biblical teaching and someone to guide them. Yet this region is so huge that pastors can only practically reach these communities with
an MAF plane. Pray that the people of this region would be able to get the spiritual teaching they long for. TUESDAY 6 Pray that MAF can effectively support the various churches, NGOs and government health organisations serving across this country. Pray for relationships to deepen and for more collaboration opportunities. WEDNESDAY 7 Give thanks for national staff member, Ricky Poki, who has now completed his first solo flight in PNG. Pray he would be a blessing to everyone he encounters as he flies for MAF, and that he would be a shining light for Christ.
THURSDAY 8 Pray that children in remote areas of PNG would have access to vaccinations from deadly, yet preventable, diseases such as polio. Pray too that healthcare would become easier to access for those living in cutoff communities. FRIDAY 9 Pray for God’s grace, strength and wisdom for highfrequency radio operator Justina Martin (top right), who assists remote communities in PNG with their calls, which include medevac requests. Pray too that she would remain calm under pressure in all circumstances. SATURDAY 10 Today, please uphold our partner churches and their pastors who are serving in the remote communities of PNG. Pray that MAF is an encouragement and support towards God’s ministry. SUNDAY 11 Praise God for the career of Country Director Andy Bijkerk in Suriname, who performed his last flight before his retirement earlier this year in June. We thank God for his faithful service and pray that he can enjoy the plans God has for him. MONDAY 12 Pray for the team in Guatemala as they fly into areas that have been overtaken by drug cartels. Pray for safety as they work with churches and communities threatened by drug traffickers. Pray too for the Gospel to reach these areas. TUESDAY 13 Pray for two twin infants, Kara and Kasak, and their parents in Ecuador. They walked three days to get medical care for the babies, who had critical cases of pneumonia and acute respiratory distress. MAF flew them to follow-up appointments in a major city.

WEDNESDAY 14 Pray for Amos Grijalva, who completed his training to become a mechanic for the Ecuador programme, working on the Cessna Caravan and Kodiak aircraft we have there. Pray that he continues to settle in with the team. THURSDAY 15 During the Weejo Bible Camp in Suriname earlier this year, in addition to education and counselling, attention was also paid to the health of the indigenous church leaders and their communities. They depend on river water and use a lot of salt to preserve their meat, which can cause health concerns. Praise God that Medical Mission Primary Health Care was flown in by MAF to conduct various sessions to

raise awareness among them, including hand washing and water purification. FRIDAY 16 Today is World Food Day. Pray for the seeds planted in the community of Copataza, Ecuador where the MAF team spent a week distributing food to children in the area – for some, that might have been their only meal of the day. SATURDAY 17 Today, let’s lift up all the people that MAF staff serve in Latin America who are faced with poverty. Pray that MAF is able to deliver aid into these areas and the partners we fly can bring training and other opportunities for people to increase their income. OCT–DEC 2026 | Prayer Diary 5

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO (DRC) SUNDAY 18 Praise God that He sees and knows the deep needs of families in the DRC, where nearly three in four people live in extreme poverty and the nation ranks 29th on Open Doors Persecuted Church Watch List. Give thanks that He is present in suffering, bringing hope, dignity and practical help through MAF to those facing hardship and persecution. MONDAY 19 Pray that MAF’s flights transform access to care in the DRC, cutting journeys to Vanga Hospital from over 15 hours to just a 75-minute flight. Ask God to bless medical training and outreach, protect travellers, and strengthen the Church as it brings life-saving care, hope and Christ’s love to isolated communities. TUESDAY 20 Pray for God’s mercy over communities in eastern DRC affected by Ebola, asking for wisdom as the situation evolves in coming months. Pray for those living in affected areas, that they remain safe and can access accurate information and advice. Pray for effective containment of the

As MAF begins to transition out of Tanzania in the coming months, the country today is in far better shape than when MAF first started serving there over 60 years ago. We would love to give thanks for all that God has done through MAF in Tanzania and its many wonderful partnerships.

Ask God for protection over staff, wisdom in rapidly changing conditions, and that these vital flights will help bring care, stability and hope.

SUNDAY 25 Give thanks that life expectancy has increased in Tanzania. In 1963, life expectancy was a dismal 44 years – today, it’s 70! Pray that God would bless Tanzanians with long, healthy lives and generations of families that know the love of Christ.
93% since the government introduced free basic education in 2015. Today, let’s pray that children and young people growing up in Tanzania will have great influence and be able to contribute to shaping the future of the country positively.
MONDAY 26 For over 40 years, MAF’s mobile medical clinics have treated thousands of women and children in remote areas, saving an untold number of lives. Every month, MAF has joined forces with either Haydom Hospital, Kilimatinde Hospital or Same Hospital, flying a team of health professionals and medical supplies to communities who have little access to basic healthcare. Let’s continue to pray that these hospitals remain wellresourced and well-staffed.
SATURDAY 31 Let’s pray today that all staff that have sown into MAF in Tanzania over the years will be greatly blessed and encouraged, knowing they have served so faithfully. Pray for them in their next chapter of serving the Lord.
TUESDAY 27 In the last 25 years, maternal mortality has drastically reduced by 71%. Today, let’s pray that this statistic continues to decrease and that mothers and babies can get access to the care they need to thrive.

WEDNESDAY 28 The electrification rate has reached 69% across rural areas, and the Tanzanian government have unveiled plans to invest nearly
US$965 million in roads, bridges and motorways, which will vastly improve connectivity across the country. We give thanks for this growth in infrastructure and pray that the government can fulfil their plans. THURSDAY 29 Thank God that the Gospel has been considerably advanced through missionaries such as Elisha Moita, a Maasai evangelist who MAF had the pleasure of flying, along with his team. Today, there are over 200,000 Christians in the Maasai community. Pray that Christianity would continue to grow in these communities and that they would be strong in their faith. FRIDAY 30 Primary school enrolment has boomed to

WEDNESDAY 4 Pray for the millions of displaced people who have fled to neighbouring countries, such as Chad, South Sudan, and Uganda, in a desperate endeavour to escape the violence. Pray that they would be able to find safety and start the long process of healing from the trauma they have experienced.

THURSDAY 5 Give thanks for the partnership between MAF and Kids Around the World (KATW) that has enabled the distribution of nutritious food for starving children across Ugandan refugee settlements. KATW has also been able to share the Word of God with the children through stories and play.

MAF is responding to the urgent humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict in Sudan, which is leaving millions of people seeking refuge in neighbouring countries, including Chad, South Sudan and Uganda. The prayers on these pages focus on the challenges in this region and the development of MAF’s work as we focus resources where it is desperately needed.
SUNDAY 1 Sudan is now the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. The violence there is so extreme that the bloodshed can be seen from space. Please pray for the families caught in the devastating crossfire – many of whom have lost loved ones.
MONDAY 2 Amidst no-fly zones in Sudan, pray for wisdom across our programmes and leaders as we seek to better support those living in this region of Africa. TUESDAY 3 Families are no longer able to sleep in
beds, but instead rest on hard, cold ground beneath fragile shelters made from bedsheets. When it rains, they are drenched. Pray that God would bring them comfort, warmth, and protection in these harsh conditions. FRIDAY 6 Lift up the thousands of refugees in Bidibidi (Uganda’s largest refugee settlement) experiencing trauma after fleeing conflict – but praise God for MAF partner ACROSS who’s staff provide trauma healing training and share Bible stories. SATURDAY 7 Pray for the children living in refugee settlements who now have no access to education. The impact of conflict is not only felt today, but will also affect their futures. SUNDAY 8 Pray for the refugee settlements in Chad with poor maternity facilities and equipment. Chad has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world, and these rates are usually higher across the settlements. MONDAY 9 In South Sudan, 2.2 million children under 5 are at risk of acute malnutrition. Pray that God would work through us and our partners to provide nourishment and strength.
TUESDAY 10 Pray for over 1.37 million people who have fled Sudan into South Sudan, many arriving with deep loss, fear, and uncertainty. Pray that God would meet their needs and restore their hope. Please uphold our team as they serve with strength, wisdom, and compassion. WEDNESDAY 11 Lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ across these countries who now cannot go to church – because there isn’t a church to go to. Pray that they would know God’s presence, remain steadfast in faith, and find encouragement despite isolation and fear.
THURSDAY 12 Pray for God’s guidance and strength for the MAF Country Directors in Sudan’s neighbouring countries – Esmara in Chad, David in South Sudan, and Sam in Uganda – as they lead their teams through this challenging time, responding to the influx of displaced families. FRIDAY 13 Ruth Jack, Director of Programmes – Africa, reflected on the refugee settlements: ‘There, you find the best and worst of humanity coming together. People who have lost hope are served by those who give their lives to bring hope.’ Thank God for His provision in sustaining and enabling MAF’s work in these places. SUNDAY 15 Praise God for the Toews family who celebrated ten years of service with MAF in Indonesia. They are based in Tarakan, Kalimantan where Jeremy is a pilot and aircraft engineer. Please ask the Lord to bless him and his family in all their endeavours.
In May of this year, we sent out a prayer letter to you, our faithful supporters, sharing our most significant prayer needs to date. We asked for you to send in your own prayer needs too, and we received over 500 prayer requests. It was a privilege for our UK staff to spend time praying over your requests and asking the Lord to bless and help you. You also shared your prayers for MAF and the countries we serve. Here are a few of them below; let's pray them together.
MONDAY 16 Pray for the Church in Comoro, Papua, Indonesia. Throughout Papua, the grandchildren of some of the first converts to Christianity have not continued in the faith. A missionary recently visited the community to encourage new believers to stand firm, so please pray for spiritual growth there. TUESDAY 17 Today, please uphold Andy and Emma Dipper. Andy is the Regional Director for the Indonesia programmes and Emma plays an important role working alongside him to support the team. Pray for wisdom and discernment in their work and for safety during their travels.
SUNDAY 22 As I put petrol in the car today, I thought of the soaring fuel prices around the world. God, please provide the funds needed to fuel every MAF plane in every programme.
WEDNESDAY 18 Give thanks that the Damal people in Papua, Indonesia now have access to a newly translated full Bible in their language. Pray that many will come to know Christ personally now that they have access to God’s Word.
MONDAY 23 Pray for the continued safety of the brave men and women pilots and engineers.
THURSDAY 19 Earlier this year, MAF was able to fly a medical team to Kotiak in Papua, where Myo-Sook – a missionary with Wycliffe – serves. Give thanks that over several days, the team was able to diagnose and treat 751 people! Yet, even with so many receiving care, there were still more who could not be seen. Pray for more healthcare workers to serve in isolated places where the need is so great. FRIDAY 20 MAF in Kalimantan flew a team of pastors to train church leaders in isolated communities against occultism. Pray that this training will help them and their congregations to remain focused on God. SATURDAY 21 Last year, MAF in Kalimantan transported 334 patients and conducted 157 medevac flights. Give thanks for these flights and pray that God would grant us the provision to be able to reach many more cut-off communities around the world.
TUESDAY 24 Pray for the Mission Aviation Academy, that it would be well funded and grow new pilots and engineers.

SATURDAY 28 We pray that people would have a better knowledge and understanding of the amazing work of MAF, with more news reports and publicity.

SUNDAY 29 Praise God for RedTribe who supports the Maasai community in the Loita Hills area of Kenya. We regularly fly staff and equipment for RedTribe, which help them improve education, healthcare and ethical living, based on the teachings of Jesus. MONDAY 30 The end of November and first half of December is known as the ‘short rains’ season, with short showers every afternoon or evening. Please pray for concentration and safety for our pilots as they will often be flying back to base during this time. TUESDAY 1 Lift up Faith Susan, MAF's Country Director in Kenya, who leads a team of 35 staff. Ask God to bless the relationships she has built with other organisations and pray that the team will see the positive impact of their hard work.

So, it’s been a welldeserved time of rest and visiting relatives. Please pray for them as they start preparing for their return to Kenya in January.
WEDNESDAY 2 The Kakuma Refugee Camp in Northern Kenya has around 300,000 people living in very difficult conditions. Since 1992, it has offered refuge to Ethiopians, Sudanese and Congolese people fleeing from war and violence in

Also pray that they can be a witness to the other airport staff, through their actions and conversations. SATURDAY 5 Please bless the pilots and passengers of the Marsabit shuttle – our aircraft that acts like a bus service for the people of Marsabit county, a large area of around 25,830 square miles, that covers desert, volcanic rock and thick forest. Pray for safe flying, and that each passenger has a blessed day.

The Mission Aviation Academy exists to equip, train, and develop skilled Christian aviation professionals for service in mission and humanitarian contexts around the world. Bringing together all of MAF UK’s training pathways, the Academy provides a clear and supported journey for pilots and engineers – from initial interest through to overseas deployment. To find out more, please visit maf-uk.org/aviation-academy SUNDAY 6 Praise God for the launch of our Mission Aviation Academy (MAA). This will enable us to partner with the aviation industry to train pilots and engineers to serve with MAF and reach more isolated communities. MONDAY 7 Our current Future Pilot Programme (FPP) and Pilot Progression Pathway (PPP) recruits are studying for their exams and gaining experience at our flight school in The Netherlands. Pray for them as they learn the theory and practical skills they need. TUESDAY 8 The fledgling engineers on our Engineer Training Scheme (ETS) are studying in Swansea and Perth, while others are gaining experience in hangars based at Gloucester and Bournemouth airports. Please pray for their continued growth and learning. WEDNESDAY 9 Praise God that we already have five graduates from the training schemes that are now part of the MAA. Pray for James Gullett flying in Arnhem Land and Nathanael Smith, an engineer in Madagascar. Matthew Veale, Josh White and Jordan Overton-Cox will all soon be heading to an MAF programme; ask God for wisdom and discernment in selecting the right places for them to serve. THURSDAY 10 All our trainees build a team of partners that feel called by God to contribute to supporting their work through prayer and regular financial gifts. SATURDAY 12 We hold regular recruitment events throughout the year and have had an encouraging number of candidates attend. Ask God to help us guide each person who comes to us in discovering His purpose and calling for their life.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1 (NIV) SUNDAY 13 Praise God for the nine different locations that we fly to in Guinea. They are spread across the vast country and vary in condition; from a couple of larger concrete runways to smaller dirt airstrips. Ask the Lord that He will bless us with safe flights to help reach isolated people. MONDAY 14 Please pray for our regular flights which transport patients from around Guinea to the N’Zao Hospital. Several organisations refer patients, mostly children, to the hospital and the team there perform operations for hernias, cleft lips, and broken bones. Our flights can save hours of uncomfortable travel by dirt roads, which the children and families are very grateful for. TUESDAY 15 Please uphold the surgeons and staff at

N’Zao Hospital. Working in hot conditions with less resources than we are used to in UK hospitals, they are providing dedicated and life-changing care to people living in Guinea. WEDNESDAY 16 Give thanks for the MAF flight that provided Finnish missionaries from Laestadian Lutheran Church with a two-hour flight instead of a 36-hour journey on dangerous roads. The team joined with a community in the Nzérékoré region of Guinea to help build up the local church. Please pray for the church as it outreaches to the community. THURSDAY 17 Please remember our Country Director, Lisa Blomberg and her husband Jonathan, who is a pilot. Pray for wisdom and care in their work.
SUNDAY 20 Praise God for all those who have engaged with the MAF recruitment team this year – through events, conversations, and applications. Give thanks for the steps of faith taken and pray for continued guidance as individuals discern what God is calling them to next. MONDAY 21 1 Peter 4 :10 ‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms'. Give thanks for the men and women who have chosen to use their technical skills to work for MAF. Pray they are used to bring the Grace of God to those cut off from help. FRIDAY 18 Pray for the ongoing work of redeveloping an abandoned airstrip in Sambailo in the far north of Guinea. It hasn’t been used for many years and we would love to reopen it so that we can reach the communities there. SATURDAY 19 We have two wonderful ground staff, Ibrahima Kante and Joel Conte, who oversee the loading and preparation of the flights, and look after the passengers. Please pray for them in all their interactions with staff and passengers.

TUESDAY 22 Pray for those currently in the recruitment process. Ask that they would experience peace and clarity as they take each step. Many families with children are in touch with us right now; pray for a sense of peace around these big decisions in moving overseas away from friends and family. WEDNESDAY 23 Pray for the Pilot Progression Pathway, which is part of the new Mission Aviation Academy (MAA). Ask that experienced and midcareer pilots would clearly sense God’s call to use their skills in mission and take bold steps towards serving with MAF.

SATURDAY 26 Pray for the urgent need for teachers, particularly in South Sudan and Papua New Guinea, as well as other programmes. Ask that God would raise up skilled Christian teachers willing to serve overseas and support families on the field. SUNDAY 27 Lift up the ongoing need for Facilities Managers across several programmes. Pray for those stepping into these roles, that they would settle well and serve effectively. MONDAY 28 Proverbs 2:6: 'For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.' Let's pray today for all those learning and training so that they may be ready to serve overseas. Praise God He gives wisdom when we need it! TUESDAY 29 Pray for all trainees developing ministry partnerships as they prepare for future service. Ask that God would give them confidence and boldness as they share the vision, especially where raising funds and support feels daunting. Pray for prayerful relationships to form around each individual.
THURSDAY 24 Following on from the MAA launch this year, pray for those giving toward this amazing effort and those considering applying in the coming year. Ask that the MAA would continue to grow, equipping people to serve in some of the most isolated communities in the world.
WEDNESDAY 30 Pray for the recruitment team. Ask for encouragement as they guide candidates, manage ongoing needs, and respond to opportunities to share the vision of mission aviation. Also, please pray for a time of rest over this festive period, to come back re-energised.
FRIDAY 25 As we celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus, pray that hearts would be stirred to respond to His call. Ask that many would consider how their skills, careers, and lives could be used to bring help, hope, and healing through MAF.
