‘Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninetynine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep’ – Luke 15:4-6 (NIV)
Jesus’ question to the Pharisees is incredibly direct. He is clear that the one sheep that has wandered off and is probably in great danger is of the highest importance.
The shepherd will leave the 99 sheep that are safe together, to find the one sheep that isn’t. In Jesus’ Kingdom, no one gets left behind and no one is forgotten.
The shepherd wasn’t content to have most of his sheep – he would only rest when he had them all.
This story reminds me of the countless stories of MAF medical emergency airlifts where pilots changed the scheduled flight or their scheduled landing to go and rescue the one who was in distress.
People are infinitely precious to God. We are all made in His image. As Psalm 100:3 says of those who know and love Him, ‘It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture’ (NIV).
Being a shepherd in Biblical times wasn’t glamorous; it was challenging work. Shepherds not only had to care for the whole flock but had to know each individual sheep, seek out good pasture, and protect their flock from predators.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd and He will never forget His people.
As Isaiah 49:15 reminds us, ‘Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you’ (ESV).
Today, we thank God for the calling He has given MAF to go after the one, the forgotten and the isolated, and we are humbled to follow the example of Jesus.
Grace and peace

WEDNESDAY 1 Lesotho is a small but very mountainous country wholly within South Africa. Many of its people live rural lives, shepherding animals. Today, let’s praise the Lord that these isolated people aren’t forgotten. We’ve been flying in Lesotho since 1978, helping medical personnel and missionaries to reach them.
THURSDAY 2 Pray for national missionary Madame Mabohlokoa, a teacher for more than ten years, who has moved from a city to help teach children in the mountains. The MAF team helps support her by delivering supplies.
FRIDAY 3 Please pray for good health and safe flying for MAF Pilot Dave LePoidevin, who has been serving in Lesotho, before returning to the MAF programme in Mozambique. The four aircraft we have in Lesotho are kept busy, with Dave recently making three emergency flights in one day. One of the calls was to take four women to hospital when they all started to experience complications in their pregnancies.
SATURDAY 4 We pray that the people of Lesotho will be found by the Good Shepherd and would know that they are not forgotten.

APRIL
SUNDAY 5 Praise God this Easter Sunday. Pray that Jesus’ victory over sin and death will renew hope and strengthen the faith of our staff and volunteers.
MONDAY 6 Please pray that God opens new opportunities for MAF Co-Pilot to raise awareness of MAF across the UK. Pray especially that He will open doors within university Christian unions.
TUESDAY 7 Please pray for those attending our Co-Pilot online careers events to find out more about becoming a pilot or aircraft maintenance engineer. Pray that they’ll be inspired to take the next step in a career with MAF.
WEDNESDAY 8 Our Co-Pilot staff will be heading to the Spree South West festival on 26-28 June, with 3,000 young people attending. Pray for good engagement and connection.
THURSDAY 9 Please lift up our three determined runners who will be taking on the Brighton Marathon (www.maf-uk.org/brightonmarathon) on 12 April. Pray for protection while running and the perseverance to see this through to the finish line!
FRIDAY 10 Give thanks for the 12 young adults who will be stepping into the hardships of isolation in the wilds of Scotland on 4-6 September to complete MAF Co-Pilot’s first ever Isolation Trial (www.maf-uk.org/isolation-trial). Please pray for them as they raise funds and prepare. Pray too for good weather during the first weekend that month!
SATURDAY 11 Pray that young people everywhere will find comfort in the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

UGANDA
SUNDAY 12 Praise God for Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Mark Draper, who is covering our Quality Manager position until we have trained a local staff member to take on the role permanently. This means that, for the next few months, Mark will be carrying out audits of the maintenance activities in the hangar and working with the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority to make sure we continue to meet all the required standards that enable MAF to operate aircraft in this country.
MONDAY 13 Please pray for Prossie Nakyesse as she faithfully serves in our Uganda office. Prossie joined MAF in 2012 as a Finance Officer and is now the Finance Manager. Ask the Lord for energy and strength and attention to detail in her everyday work.
TUESDAY 14 Please pray for the floatplane that will soon start serving the remote island communities of Lake Victoria. Our Uganda team is completing the final stages of preparation so it can fly there.
WEDNESDAY 15 April is one of the wettest months of the year in Uganda, so please pray for safe overland travel, as well as wisdom for our pilots when they are making decisions on whether it is safe to land. During the rainy season, roads are often flooded, and airstrips can become waterlogged and dangerous.
THURSDAY 16 Please uphold Peter Okia (below) in your prayers today. He is one of our Ugandan engineers and is vital to the team there. Last year, Peter

FRIDAY 17 Today, let’s uphold the refugees of the Bidibidi settlement in northern Uganda. The reduction of overseas aid has been devastating, though MAF and many other organisations are helping as much as they can. Amid the hunger and desperation, there are still glimmers of hope.
Bidibidi Performing Arts Theatre Centre allows refugees to use music, poetry and drama to talk about and express their feelings.
SATURDAY 18 Pray that the people of Uganda will be found by the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

GUINEA
SUNDAY 19 Praise God for Country Director Lisa Blomberg and the fantastic staff she leads. Today, may the whole team know the favour and joy of the Lord.
MONDAY 20 After decades of delays, Guinea’s ambitious Simandou iron ore project is finally moving forward. It’s set to be Africa’s largest ever mining venture and could propel Guinea to the continent’s second largest exporter of minerals and metals by value, trailing only South Africa. Let’s pray that this results in investment in education, healthcare and infrastructure that will bless and help society’s most vulnerable.
TUESDAY 21 Following the presidential elections in 2025, please pray that the new government will make good and wise decisions that bring stability to the nation and lift up those who are most disadvantaged.
WEDNESDAY 22 With fewer than 7% of Guinea’s population professing to have a Christian faith, pray today for more Christian missionaries to be called to serve in Guinea. Pray too for an outpouring of God’s Spirit, so that Christ will be revealed to many.
THURSDAY 23 Pray for two new airstrips planned to be opened this year. Please pray that all the processes will go smoothly so our team can expand its partnerships as they serve further and wider.
FRIDAY 24 Today, pray for good health and protection as all our staff in Guinea serve in what can be a challenging environment, both logistically and spiritually.
SATURDAY 25 Pray that the people of Guinea will be found by the Good Shepherd and know that they are not forgotten.

LATIN AMERICA
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His
purpose for them — Romans 8:28 (NLT)
SUNDAY 26 Praise God for the staff who keep our programmes going in Latin America. Keeping an aircraft up and running takes more than one person, so today, let’s pray for all our staff in Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Suriname.
MONDAY 27 In Ecuador, MAF has a ministry where staff ‘adopt’ a village, investing time there to share the Good News and disciple the people. Give thanks for this opportunity MAF has to bring the message of Christ to those in isolated places and pray that His Word will transform hearts and entire communities.
TUESDAY 28 Many of Latin America’s isolated communities don’t have access to life’s necessities, so MAF helps provide healthcare, education, environmental support and evangelism through the many partners we fly. Pray for continued provision so we can keep flying into the regions that need MAF most and see lives transformed by the love of Christ.
WEDNESDAY 29 Give thanks that a seven-yearold girl in Ecuador, who suffered a serious fall from a tree, was airlifted by MAF to hospital to receive specialised care. The closed fracture of her femur caused the young girl intense pain, and her friends and family were concerned that this injury would permanently limit her ability to walk, run and play.
THURSDAY 30 Today, pray for our Suriname programme where our staff find it increasingly challenging to bring sufficient supporters on board to continue their mission there. Pray for God’s provision and for willing hearts to support MAF’s work.
FRIDAY 1 Approximately 40% of MAF’s flights in Ecuador are medically related. This includes medical evacuations and transporting healthcare workers to rural health clinics. With so many hard to access communities located in the Amazon jungle and the lack of medical facilities, much of MAF’s flying involves medevacs. Please pray that medical care becomes more accessible for those living in remote areas.
SATURDAY 2 Pray that the people of Latin America will be found by the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

DAVE AND BECKY WATERMAN
Please spend this week lifting up Dave, MAF's Project Manager for Fleet Modification andInnovation, and his wife, author and speaker, Becky.
You are both now based in Ashford. Can you tell us about your new role?
Since landing back in the UK after seven years in Africa with MAF, I (Dave) have taken on the new role of Project Manager for Fleet Modification and Innovation. It involves helping to prepare new planes for service overseas, as well as researching new technologies to determine what could help expand the reach of MAF.
Having served in both Uganda and Liberia, how has this helped shape you for this new direction with MAF?
Without our on-the-ground experience of life in two such vastly different countries, it would be impossible to look at new technologies and systems and consider what could work practically. Ideas that are conceivable in the UK simply wouldn’t be possible in nations with less infrastructure. Having a good idea of what it’s like to live overseas also gives
us a great insight into the capacity of our teams when suggesting something new to bring in.
How would you love to see new technologies transform the communities you’ve seen first-hand?
One of the joys of living in Africa was the chance to connect with the partners who travel on MAF’s planes day in and day out. It’s exciting to think of ways that we could increase their impact, whether that’s supplying missionaries with essentials or helping hospitals carry medicines in an even more timely way.
How can we pray for this area of MAF’s work? Pray for wisdom, as there are so many new devices out there today, from planes to drones to other options. As I explore what the future of MAF could look like, we pray that God will lead us to those areas that could really heighten MAF’s impact.
INDONESIA
SUNDAY 10 Praise God for growing opportunities to work with local churches in Kalimantan as they reach out to physically and spiritually isolated communities. Please pray that these relationships will continue to grow as MAF plays its part with them in spreading the Gospel.
MONDAY 11 Pray for wisdom, favour from the government, and provision so the community of Sungai Anai, Kalimantan, can build an airstrip. The communities in this mountainous region are isolated by dense forest, and far from urban areas.
TUESDAY 12 Please pray for our relationship with government officers, donors, partners and believers in Java. The team there wants to connect with even more people so they can support MAF’s mission in Indonesia.
WEDNESDAY 13 Today, let’s pray for those who are settling back into ministry life in Papua after a time away. Pray for a strong sense of community so they feel a renewed connection with those around them.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you — Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
THURSDAY 14 Give thanks that MAF staff Nico and Nopi were able to install a new solar power system in the district of Korupun, Papua, towards the end of last year. Previously, the school there only had power for two hours a day. Solar power brings a vast improvement to life there.

For the Lord your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon you — Deuteronomy 4:31 (NLT)
SUNDAY 17 Praise God for Joseph Tua who has completed his training and is the first national MAF floatplane pilot in PNG. Please pray for safety and the expansion of our floatplane operations.
MONDAY 18 Driven by a simple but powerful desire to learn, the villagers of Dimanbil once had to take a four-hour journey on foot, sleeping in small huts along the way, to reach school. But now there is an airstrip for MAF planes to land, connecting the villagers to the outside world. Pray for communities in PNG that are still without airstrips. Pray too that MAF will be able to reach many more isolated places soon.
TUESDAY 19 The life of a missionary pilot isn’t easy, but some days are harder than others. Occasionally, our pilots have to fly home coffins,
along with family members of the deceased. Pray for those who are grieving and that peace will be felt by everyone in our aircraft, particularly during these distressing flights.
WEDNESDAY 20 Give thanks that MAF Technologies were able to install a solar-powered fridge at Daru General Hospital, helping health workers to overcome a major battle in safely storing vaccines and strengthening immunisation efforts for remote communities in PNG.
THURSDAY 21 Please pray that MAF will continue to have a tremendous impact on the thousands of families in PNG that are blessed when we fly their cash crops to market. Pray that they will see Christ in us as we serve them in this way.
FRIDAY 22 MAF transported 2.4 tonnes of building materials to Yambaitok to support the construction of a new aid post that will enable residents to access basic healthcare. Pray that this project goes to plan and is a real blessing to the community.
SATURDAY 23 Pray that the people of PNG will be found by the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

He always stands by His covenant – the commitment He made to a thousand generations — Psalm 105:8 (NLT)
SUNDAY 24 Praise God for the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Please pray that He will guide churches throughout Kenya and Tanzania so that remote communities will discover God’s unfailing love for them.
MONDAY 25 Give thanks that MAF had the opportunity to deliver a shipment of birthing kits to the Maasai community in the remote Loita Hills, Kenya. Each kit contained the essential items needed to support a safe and hygienic birth. Please pray for the safety of mothers and their unborn children in places where medical facilities and equipment remain limited.
TUESDAY 26 Please pray for the growth of MAF’s East Africa Hub which aims to raise and equip African missionaries. Pray that MAF will become widely known across the whole of Africa and that people will answer God’s calling upon their lives.

WEDNESDAY 27 In parts of Tanzania the transport networks are underdeveloped. Please pray for good opportunities to extend our operations to these areas.
THURSDAY 28 Thanks to MAF flights, women were able to receive treatment for obstetric fistula. Please pray that women affected by this painful medical condition will hear about the treatment available and have the courage to come forward for surgery. Pray too that their communities will embrace returning patients, enabling them to integrate back into society.
FRIDAY 29 Please pray for Stewart Ayling, our Country Director in Tanzania. He manages seven staff members and oversees two MAF aircraft. Pray for wisdom and discernment as he leads his team.
SATURDAY 30 Pray that the people of Kenya and Tanzania will be found by the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

SUNDAY 31 Praise God for a community’s forgiving and healing response to our Healing Hearts and Transforming Nations workshop last year. ‘There are miracles happening because of this workshop!’ declares Betty, one of the attendees at St James, Jebel Yesua. Uphold this small church community as we worship God this Sunday.
MONDAY 1 MAF aircraft carry both cargo and passengers, with several landings often taking place per flight. The planes sometimes need to be configured differently, with seats added or taken out, and cargo safely stored and balanced before take-off. Please pray for the dispatch teams led by Thomas Titus and Duku Richard, as they load and unload our planes – serving on a hot, noisy airstrip with a smile!
TUESDAY 2 ‘Ndose Kato Lako’ is the Good News Bible in the Jur Modo language, spoken in the Mvolo region of South Sudan, about one hour’s flight north-east of Juba. MAF delivered 150kg of Bibles in just one flight. Pray that the Word of God speaks into the lives of those who can now read it in their own language.
WEDNESDAY 3 Today, the MAF spouses who are trained nurses offer a community wound care service for those in the neighbourhood where MAF families live. As well as offering simple treatment, they teach patients how to wash and care for their injuries, as well as praying with them. Pray for wisdom and resilience for Mieke, Emma and Echo as they tend to many different wounds each day.
MAY/JUNE See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands — Isaiah 49:16 (NLT)
THURSDAY 4 Partnering with the Evangelical Lutheran Church Mission in South Sudan Reconciliation Hospital, MAF regularly flies women from around the country for fistula operations in Juba. Not only does surgery repair and heal physical symptoms, but the women are able to live fully as part of their communities again. Pray for the 60,000 South Sudanese women needing fistula surgery, and give thanks for the opportunity to receive healing at Reconciliation Hospital.
FRIDAY 5 Today, the children of MAF families will be learning and praising God at Juba Christian Academy, which plays an essential role in enabling missionary families to serve the people of South Sudan. Please pray for the recruitment of more teachers and a new head teacher, so the school can continue to thrive.
SATURDAY 6 Pray that the people of South Sudan will be found by the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

SUNDAY 7 Praise God for those who share in the work and calling of MAF personnel around the world. Hundreds of partners sow into the work through prayer and financial giving. What an example of unity in the Body of Christ!
MONDAY 8 David Bebb is MAF Country Director in South Sudan. Having arrived only a year ago, he is now leading the programme. Pray for wisdom, discernment and protection for him and his family as they serve in one of our more challenging operations.
TUESDAY 9 Please uphold Matthew Veale, one of our Engineer Trainees in his final year of practical training at RGV Aviation in Gloucester. Give thanks for all our trainees and pray they know great success in 2026 and that God continues to guide them as they step out in faith.
WEDNESDAY 10 Our Mission Aviation Training Academy seeks to train pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers and provide a fast track to filling vital vacancies around the world. Pray for more applicants, and for our team as they seek corporate and philanthropic sources of funding to create a sustainable future pathway.
THURSDAY 11 Based in PNG, MAF Technologies provides the local Church with technical solutions such as radio communication, computing, solar lighting installation, the distribution of digital audio Bibles and any other technology that can help advance the Gospel. Pray for Corporate Services Manager Natasha Tordoff as she supports this vital work.
FRIDAY 12 Give thanks for Josh White who has now got his pilot license after graduating from our Future Pilot Programme (now part of the Mission Aviation Training Academy). Josh will be joining the South Sudan programme later this year, so please pray for him as he prepares to move there.
SATURDAY 13 Pray that MAF staff around the world will be upheld by the Good Shepherd and know they are not forgotten.

SUNDAY 14 Praise God that our team in Papua, Indonesia, was able to medevac a young mother who had just given birth and was facing postnatal complications. Thank God for baby Timotius, and pray that mother and baby will go from strength to strength.
MONDAY 15 Praise God that MAF has completed the first in a series of installations of high frequency radios and solar power systems in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Do pray that these will be a blessing to many communities.
TUESDAY 16 Praise God that Sorita airstrip in PNG was able to reopen last year. With the runway having been operational for over a year now, the communities now benefit from being able to transport crops such as cacao, coffee and peanuts to market. Pray that the airstrip will continue to be a financial blessing as isolated farmers sell their crops.
The aircraft has now resumed flying. We are so thankful for the engineers and maintenance staff around the world who work so tirelessly to keep our planes in the air. May they know a special blessing today.
THURSDAY 18 Praise God for our partnership with Robert Bett, a Kenyan missionary with Africa Inland Church who’s been serving the Lopit villages in the hills of South Sudan for ten years. Give thanks for his dedicated service and pray that he’ll see a great increase in the fruitfulness of his ministry.
WEDNESDAY 17 Praise God that an engine for one of our Cessna 206 planes in Madagascar has finally arrived after a four-month wait for its delivery!
FRIDAY 19 Praise God for funding that enabled us to supply 147 Android smartphones to village health workers in isolated areas of Myanmar through our partner Medical Action Myanmar. The phones are equipped with a custom-made health app that allows health workers with limited training to access a wealth of information.
SATURDAY 20 Pray that MAF is seen as a physical demonstration of the Good Shepherd’s love and we can show people daily that they are not forgotten.

RECRUITMENT + THE UK
SUNDAY 21 Praise God for all the individuals, families, and churches who have chosen to give in prayer and financial support toward those stepping into service or beginning an MAF training scheme. Pray that this spirit of joyful giving will continue to grow in abundance throughout the year, encouraging even more to partner with us in sending workers into the harvest.
MONDAY 22 Please pray for the recruitment of aircraft engineers across several programmes facing staffing gaps. Ask God to prompt those with the necessary experience to consider mission service and for wisdom for our team as they assess candidates with specialist technical backgrounds.
TUESDAY 23 Please pray for the urgent recruitment of facilities managers across several MAF programmes, including Papua New Guinea, Guinea, and South Sudan. Pray that suitable candidates will be identified quickly to support base maintenance, infrastructure oversight, and day-to-day operations at a time when these needs are arising simultaneously across the charity.
WEDNESDAY 24 Pray for growing interest among young people considering our pilot and engineering pathways. Ask that God would inspire the next generation of mission aviators and technicians and that the team will be equipped to guide enquiries with clarity, patience, and insight.
THURSDAY 25 Please lift up the planning and delivery of upcoming summer events, exhibitions, and church visits where MAF recruitment opportunities will be shared. Pray that logistics will run smoothly and that those attending will have open hearts to hear how their gifts might be used in mission.
FRIDAY 26 Pray for the development of new training schemes further to MAF’s established future pilot programme and engineering training pathways. Ask God to guide discussions around creating additional routes for ground-based staff and management-focused roles, so that more people can be equipped, trained, and prepared to serve in vital support positions across the organisation.
SATURDAY 27 Give thanks for those currently in the application or onboarding process during a busy time of the year for MAF with summer approaching. Pray for perseverance through interviews, medical requirements, training assessments, and paperwork. Ask that each person and family will sense God’s peace as they move toward potential deployment.

MONDAY 29 Please pray for the urgent need for teachers to serve in Christian schools in Papua New Guinea, South Sudan, and Liberia. Ask God to call dedicated educators who can support missionary families, bless local students, and strengthen these essential learning communities. Pray that those sensing God’s prompting will have clarity and courage to explore serving in these roles.
TUESDAY 30 Pray for the new trainees God brought to MAF in 2025. Ask that they will grow quickly in confidence, skill, and Christ-centred character. Pray that they will be well supported and become the next generation of pilots and engineers equipped to serve faithfully in mission aviation.
