Since 2002 in the City of Santa Ana the beautiful celebration called Noche de Altares has been enacted on La Calle Cuatro in Downtown Santa Ana. The group that organizes the event are called El Centro Cultural de Mexico they wrote: "By making altars, participants are inviting fellow community members into their own life and passions for a loved one. Over the years we have seen altars bring strangers together through mutual compassion, understanding and dialogue. Families reunite to remember and honor their loved ones" (nochedealtares.org). With this book of images taken by local photographer Laura Kanter captures the beauty of this annual festival.
