The Crystal Goblet, or Printing Should Be Invisible by Beatrice Warde
Booklet designed by Mackenzie Thomson
"For this project I wanted to play with the idea of invisibility by incorporating braille and design for the visually impaired into my design. Warde talks about Invisibility throughout her text so I decided to incorporate braille into my design as it plays with the idea of invisibility. I used specific words in braille to play with the meaning and ideas of her text. As well as using the geometric shapes of braille. I kept the color palette to black and white to reference the way braille text and the way touch picture books for visually impaired looks. I choose futura as the typeface because of its geometric shape that plays well with the braille and because it was released around the same time as the text was written."
