Darkness & Light: Post-War & Contemporary Art in Scotland presents an exceptional private collection that succinctly and comprehensively charts the evolution of art in Scotland from the 1940s onwards. It features artists from the Two Roberts (Colquhoun and MacBryde) through to mid-20th century powerhouses such as Alan Davie, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi and Joan Eardley.
The collection continues with the plethora of talent that emerged from Glasgow School of Art from the 1980s onwards under the leadership of Alexander Moffat, including Steven Campbell, Peter Howson, Ken Currie, Adrian Wiszniewski and the later generation of Alison Watt, Stephen Conroy and Paul McPhail. Chronologically, it concludes with the remarkable years when Glasgow remained a hotbed of creativity, nurturing the talents of David Shrigley, Douglas Gordon, Christine Borland and many more.
