FROM THE PUBLISHER

My husband and I met pre-covid, pre-9/11, pre-Monica Lewinsky, “back in the landline days” as my children would say. Hinge and Raya did not exist.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go out on that first date, but then he arrived in his British-racing green sportscar. On the appointed evening, as I settled into the fine Nappa leather in his car, butterflies rose in my stomach and I wondered, was I more excited about going for a ride in his car or going on a date with this guy? Fast forward... the car is a distant memory and we are now celebrating 34 years together this spring.

If you’re an auto enthusiast like me, you’ll want to read Lawrence Ulrich’s piece on the Cavallino Classic, which is moving to The Boca Resort from its long standing run at the Breakers on pg. 60. We also feature a chic renovation of a Boca Raton waterfront condo, pg. 98, and our stunning cover home in an ultra exclusive club, pg. 50. In addition, we showcase 12 dynamic business women making strides in South Florida business, pg. 110.

What moves you? Cars, boats, planes? If you’re not zipping around the track (or around town), there is nothing like admiring all the beautiful homes in our magazine through your preferred mode of transport. With a stunning selection of luxury from oceanfront to private golf clubs to over the top equestrian farms, we invite you to get out there and explore.

After all, it’s a gorgeous day outside!

Best,

CHELSEA IN PARIS

Wallpaper and Interiors Darling Returns from Her Parisian Escapade

Chelsea Lane’s mother, Wendy Brooks, has papered more Palm Beach walls than you can imagine. The trade kind of stuck for Chelsea Lane, who at 36, is running her own show: A charming downtown West Palm storefront called Chelsea Lane & Co. It’s a showroom for designers and design enthusiasts that offers over two hundred brands of wallpaper and textiles, as well as home accessories. They also have a team that handles full service interiors.

This winter, Chelsea has just returned from the Paris Déco Off, an annual trade event for the interior design cognoscenti. Held across dozens of showrooms and ateliers in central Paris, it brings together the most bespoke fabric, wallcovering, furniture and lighting manufacturers. Her travel bags still at the front door, she graciously takes a moment with us to unpack the highlights of her trip!

Q. What are some of the most current trends in wallpaper design? Murals are back. We are seeing murals in every space—especially foliage and palms—even in small powder rooms.

Q. Why is wallpaper a necessity in a well-appointed home and where is wallpaper making unexpected appearances?

Wallpaper is the finishing layer of a home, adding depth, texture, and personality in a way paint can’t. As the industry evolves, it’s showing up in unexpected and more functional spaces— from closets and ceilings to home theaters, where new threedimensional acoustical papers combine style with performance.

Q. What is new on the lighting front?

Cozy yet bold mood lighting is making a comeback and we are seeing big statement pieces as well as more fabric wrapped shades in really fun pendant lights and sconces.

Q. Tell us about your most memorable discovery at Paris Déco Off that you’re bringing back to Palm Beach?

We were lucky enough to be invited by one of our favorite vendors, Arte, to tour their Belgium factory. It was fascinating to see what truly goes into manufacturing the wallpaper and the sampling and design processes. They have a new series of dark and moody murals based on vintage tapestries in aubergine, forest greens and browns. I’m so excited about these! They’re also keeping those fun tropical palms but interpreting them in a chic and edgy way.

Q. What were your favorite places to eat and visit while in Paris?

Mamiche on Rue Cordoncet for the most amazing pastries, Le MaBillion for a memorable dinner and late night espressos at Cafe Le Buci on Rue Dauphine.

A

CONVERSATION WITH Kyle Bartholemew Fant & Matteo Minzoni

QHow do you use today’s design technology while still creating architecture that feels timeless and well-crafted?

For us, it almost always begins by hand. Sketching on trace paper allows ideas to stay loose, intuitive, and human. There’s a freedom in that first line that no software can replace.

From there, those early sketches are carefully translated into the latest 3D modeling, computing, and scanning technologies, where the ideas gain precision, structure, and performance.

Why do you still love painting your designs by hand?

I once visited a client in their Manhattan office on a cold winter day, and hanging on the wall was an original painting of their sun-washed Palm Beach home set in tropical landscaping. It was a little reminder of warmth, light, and their happy place right there in the middle of the city. I couldn’t think of a better gift to give a homeowner!

Q. What do you enjoy about using painting as a way to explore architecture?

With just a few intentional strokes, painting allows me to distill the designer and owner’s vision. Revealing the ideas, values, and craftsmanship that define the architecture through an artistic medium.

Q. In what ways does the Florida environment influence your creative process?

The lush vegetation with its endless shades of green, the expansive skies, and the sunsets that shift through blues, pinks, purples, and touches of orange and yellow all create a visual poetry that feels almost otherworldly. The ocean, with its deep blue green and turquoise tones, adds another layer of magic. I weave these colors into my palette whenever I can. It’s my way of expressing a deep love for color and light, honoring the visual poetry that Florida offers every day.

Building a custom luxury residence in an exclusive enclave like Admiral’s Cove in Jupiter or Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Boca Raton, promises an unparalleled lifestyle: private waterfront access, championship golf, and exceptional long-term value. Yet the sophistication of ground-up construction projects present difficult obstacles: substantial capital requirements, extended timelines, and often rigid underwriting from traditional banks that can slow progress or cause costly delays.

In competitive South Florida markets, where timing often determines whether you secure the ideal property or lose it to another buyer, flexibility can make all the difference. Private, asset-based lenders such as Capital Funding offer a more streamlined alternative for developers and investors, emphasizing the property’s prime location and projected completion value rather than requiring extensive personal financial documentation or pristine credit.

Why opt for a private lender like Capital Funding over traditional banks? In the fast-moving luxury real estate market—especially in South Florida— timing and certainty of close are everything, and private financing delivers decisive advantages: quicker approvals and closings (often within 2 weeks, not months), far less paperwork, and no heavy reliance on approvals based personal income docs such as tax returns or your personal credit scores. Instead, funding decisions center on the project’s strength—the property’s value, location, and potential—allowing you to move swiftly on prime opportunities, avoid bureaucratic delays, and secure flexible terms tailored to high-end, custom builds where banks often hesitate or impose strict limits.

This streamlined, asset-driven approach keeps your vision on track and gives you a real edge in competitive markets.

Capital Funding’s closings in Admiral’s Cove and Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club offer compelling illustrations of this approach in practice. Capital Funding has provided financing on several noteworthy projects in both communities, including the sophisticated waterfront estate under construction at 369 Eagle Dr listed for 23 Million —a 7-bedroom, 9-bathroom residence of approximately 9,692 square feet, featuring 115 feet of prime water frontage and slated for completion in Q2 2026. Comparable successes include the new build at 113 Regatta Dr (5 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, around 6,240 square feet, targeting early 2026 occupancy), and the luxury home at 467 Mariner Dr (6 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, approximately 9,895 square feet) which is listed at over 14 Million. These mid-construction and custom endeavors highlight how tailored private financing facilitates seamless advancement toward impressive after-repair values in the multi-million-dollar range.

For those considering a high end renovation, luxury build, or need a quick bridge loan to take advantage of an opportunity, early consultation with an experienced lender such as Capital Funding is key. Partner with a capital provider that can provide speed and flexibility in the closing process.

Is Available TRANQUILITY S

et along one of the most treasured and secluded stretches of coastline in the United States, this $50 million masterpiece is designed to endure for generations. Hidden down a private lane on Jupiter Island, an enclave known for unmatched privacy, Tranquility represents the pinnacle of coastal living. Every detail has been conceived to honor the serenity of its surroundings while delivering an unparalleled standard of architectural excellence, relaxation, and indoor-outdoor living.

A Waterfront Setting of Rare Distinction

The estate enjoys 200 feet of pristine Intracoastal Waterway, offering a panorama of deep, luminous blue, flowing water. A natural coral reef, teeming with marine life, flanks the Brazilian Ipe dock, transforming the property into a living sanctuary connected to the sea. A quick stroll through a private walkway leads to a secluded stretch of Atlantic shoreline. Here, sea turtles come ashore during nesting season and, from December through April, migrating humpback whales can be spotted breaching in the distance—an awe-inspiring backdrop for daily life.

A Superyacht-Ready Dock

Among the rarest and most valuable attributes of Tranquility is the grandfathered deepwater dock, which extends twice as far into the waterway as modern regulations permit. This unique advantage allows the property to comfortably accommodate a superyacht up to 180 feet—a luxury shared by a limited number of private residences along Florida’s coastline. This places the estate in a category of its own.

A Masterpiece of Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living

Created through collaboration with Affinity Architects, The Decorators Unlimited, and Parker-Yannette Design Group, the 1.4 acre estate is an immersive indoor-outdoor retreat. Expansive window walls and retractable glass doors dissolve boundaries between inside and out, offering sweeping water views and gentle coastal breezes into every living space. Sunlight dances within the architecture throughout the day culminating in cinematic sunsets reflected across the spa, pool, and waterway.

Majestic, centuries-old banyan trees anchor the landscape, their sculptural trunks wrapped with orchids that bloom throughout the year. Their presence adds a sense of permanence, grounding the modern design with timeless elegance. Water & fire features gently invite entry to an otherwise impenetrable fortress, leading to a Balinese Zen garden that calls you to stay forever.

It feels like a private resort…that you never want to leave.

The Gift of Time

On Jupiter Island—where waterfront construction is complex and heavily regulated, it will take 3-5 years to complete a project of this scale, IF you can find an ocean to Intracoastal lot like this one. Tranquility is fully completed, meticulously finished, and offered turnkey - ready to enjoy without delay.

FERRARI FEVER

The Annual Cavallino Classic Heads to Boca

Asexy sports car, a scarf-fluttering oceanside drive, a cool slice of La Dolce Vita: Ferraris and Florida just go together. And whether you’re a committed Ferrarista or a casual fan, the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic 2026 offers a full-body immersion in Italian beauty, luxury hospitality and timeless design.

After a 34-year run at The Breakers, the prestigious Concours d’Elegance will plop a curated field of 180 rare Ferraris onto the lawn of The Boca Raton. And the 35th anniversary show is going over-the-top like a fizzy flute of Krug.

A “Cavallino Auction by RM Sotheby’s” is a first for this international show, which makes annual stops in Modena, Monaco and the Middle East. Breathtaking bids will underscore Ferrari’s unrivaled status among car collectors: RM Sotheby’s sold a 1962 Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO for an astonishing $51.7 million in 2023, a record auction high for the “Prancing Horse” brand.

Since Ferraris belong on the road, not just on pedestals, the show weekend, Feb. 13-15, kicks off with a Tour d’Eleganza. The scenic road tour gets an escort from Florida State Troopers — you wouldn’t want to scratch that pretty red paint — and ends with a grand arrival at The Boca Raton. Saturday brings the main concours on

the resort’s stunning 18th fairway, but with sporting competition focused on some of the world’s rarest, lovingly restored or painstakingly preserved Ferraris. Sunday festivities move to Mar-a-Lago, with a charity brunch and its own à la carte selection of sumptuous cars.

Show judges, essentially walking encyclopedias for company founder Enzo Ferrari’s legacy, have their work cut out. Among the awards, organizers have gathered a deep field of previous Best of Show winners, museum-worthy machines that will vie for a Cavallino Legacy Award.

“We will be crowning the best of the best,” says Domenic Colasacco, Cavallino general manager.

The show bookends nearly 80 years of high-speed history. A romantic, red-hued postwar era will come to life via the first two Ferraris brought to the U.S. by Luigi Chinetti. Enzo’s U.S. importer was a pivotal figure, a three-time Le Mans race winner who built the fledgling brand’s reputation in America, and helped launch the careers

of American driving champions such as Mario Andretti. First is the 1948 166 MM Barchetta — that’s Italian for “little boat”. The adorably streamlined roadster was the rosso-painted underdog that put Enzo’s then-struggling company on the map. Only 25 were built. Chinetti shipped chassis number 0002M from the Paris Motor Show to Tommy Lee, a wealthy Los Angeles socialite.

The second car has an enduring connection to the Sunshine State. A 1948 166 Spider Corsa, with its evocative bicycle fenders, was owned by Briggs Cunningham, the dashing gentleman racer who founded his own American sports-car company. This 166 Spider took the life of racer Sam Collier in 1950, when he was thrown from the tumbling Ferrari in Watkins Glen, New York. Collier himself had introduced Britain’s MG brand to America. He and his racing brother Miles were the sons of Baron Gift Collier, whose 1.3 million acres of undeveloped Florida real estate made him the largest private landowner in the U.S. The car is part of the Collier family’s collection at The Revs Institute in Naples.

There’s just a ‘wow’ effect that you don’t get with other brands,” he says. “People just vibrate when they see one.

Juan Manuel Fayen got the Ferrari bug as a child from his father, whose own racing adventures took him from South America to races at Daytona and Le Mans. The entrepreneur and founder of CollectionSuites, which offers luxury car storage in Greater Miami and Palm Beach, has acquired an extensive collection, including the fabulous F40 hypercar. There are many sports cars, Fayen says, but everyone recognizes there’s something special about a Ferrari.

Fayen will be showing a 1991 Testarossa that one might call well-preserved, with fewer than 400 kilometers, or 250 miles, on the odometer. Cognoscenti will spot its famous “cheese grater” fenders, the side intakes that feed air to the car’s howling V-12 engine. Showgoers of a certain age will call out a pop culture reference instead.

“Yes, it’s the Miami Vice car,” Fayen says with a laugh, the signature ride of Don Johnson’s pastelsuited Sonny Crockett.

DRIVEN TO COLLECT

A word with race car driver, car collector and Collection Suites CEO, Juan Manuel Fayen

Q. For those just entering the market, what qualities should matter more than hype or price— provenance, rarity, usability, or design?

Rarity is the most powerful argument and design too, for example 250GTO Ferrari is a spectacular design that is strange, beautiful and hard to procure. Only around 35 were produced between 1958 and 1962.

Q. Are there marques or eras you believe new collectors should be paying closer attention to right now?

Eras from the 1990s and forward is where the good collectors are looking right now. Ferraris are still sought after, but Maclarens and Lambourghinis are gaining a lot of attention.

Q. How critical are relationships—with dealers, auction houses, restorers, or fellow collectors— when building a serious collection?

Relationships are almost as critical as the cars themselves if you want to build a serious collection. Being a serious buyer and special customer with a history will get you in with the important contacts that you need to continue building your collection. It’s like getting an Hermes Birkin, you need to work yourself up to that bag.

Q. Many first-time collectors focus on acquisition. What aspects of ownership—maintenance, storage, restoration—tend to surprise them most? Proper storage is more than a garage. Humidity control, temperature, and pest protection are important. Security is also paramount when you have multiple cars. A Conversation with Edward and Deborah Pollack Fine Art

Q. How did the journey begin for Edward and Deborah Pollack Fine Art, and what drew you to focus on 19th and early 20th-century American paintings?

We both were inspired by our fathers—my dad was an art collector, whose auction catalogues I would peruse when I was a little girl. I felt the art of American Impressionism was dreamy, romantic, as seen through the gauze of aestheticism and appreciation for beauty, and I was attracted to it as if it were a fairy tale. I later obtained a degree in art history. Ed’s dad was an antiques dealer in New York, and Ed started in the business dealing in various antiques, but soon realized that he had an eye for fine art and could capitalize on it. Although he had no background in art, Ed believed that the key to excelling in the field was by doing, rather than academic study, so in 1971 he began learning the trade by becoming a picker to many venerable Manhattan galleries. He subsequently opened the Pollack Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City in 1976. By then he was known by colleagues to have the best eye in the business, handling the finest nineteenth and early twentiethcentury American paintings and sculptures in town.

Q. How do you decide which artists or specific works to feature in your current and future exhibitions?

We only handle artists’ works which appeal to us, both historically and aesthetically. We also do not specialize in contemporary artwork, drawing the line at mid-20th century modern paintings, such as those by Orville Bulman (1904–1978). Although we appreciate some of contemporary art’s more beautiful examples, we feel the current market has more than enough participants. We offer our own niche of older paintings for people to enjoy.

Q. Can you share a memorable story about rediscovering an artist or artwork that had been forgotten or underappreciated?

Q. What is the core mission or philosophy behind your gallery’s collection and exhibitions?

Our gallery focuses on works by major American artists from the nineteenth to mid-twentieth century, with a specialty in important Florida paintings. We also like bringing forgotten artists, who were once important, back to their former prominence. Additionally, we enjoy enhancing museums and private collections.

Of course, Laura Woodward (1834–1926) comes to mind. Many years ago we discovered her works of tropical jungles and admired them; only to find out they were actually of early Palm Beach, before any mansions or condos. We had never heard of her at that time, but what a thrill to realize the history of this once forgotten woman artist of the Hudson River School, who came to Florida in the nineteenth century, and influenced Flagler in developing Palm Beach as a resort! Since then, my award-winning biography of Woodward resulted in an acclaimed PBS

A. E. "Beanie" Backus (American, 1906–1990), Royal Poinciana on the Indian River, Florida, circa 1960, signed, oil on canvas, 20 x 24 inches.
Frederick Frieseke (American, 1874–1939), Femme lisant à côté d’une lampe (Woman Reading by a Lamp), signed and indistinctly dated, circa 1905, oil on French canvas, 32 x 26 inches. Exhibited, according to Frieseke’s notebook, p. 17, at the 1905 Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux–Arts. Also exhibited the same year at the Art Institute of Chicago. Included in the Frederick Frieseke Catalogue Raisonne.

Woodward, Fort Dallas, Miami, Florida, oil on canvas, 16 x 20 inches, ca. 1895, inscribed on reverse, Laura Woodward Artist, Fort Dallas, Amy Bennett [Woodward’s caregiver]. Also inscribed on stretcher: “Ft Dallas Miami, Laura Woodward Artist, From Amy Bennett with Love.” In 1895 Laura Woodward visited Julia Tuttle at Fort Dallas, where the Miami River converges with Biscayne Bay. From that visit, Woodward painted Fort Dallas, Miami.

documentary, as well as many publications and exhibitions featuring her work—for instance, her important Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens retrospective in 2018.

Q. You’ve written and published several books on art and artists — how do writing and curating inform each other in your work?

The more we’re armed with knowledge, the better we can choose the paintings for our inventory.

Q. What advice would you give to emerging collectors interested in early American art or Florida-related works?

We advise them to buy what they love but quality should be foremost. It’s that simple.

Orville Bulman (American, 1904–1978), Du Sud, signed, also signed on reverse and dated 1976, oil on board, 10 x 8 inches. Original Bulman frame. Provenance: Private collection, Manalapan, Florida.

Q. How do you build relationships with private collectors and institutions, and what makes those partnerships meaningful?

We appreciate our clients immensely and try to show them in many ways, including flexibility with prices whenever possible. We have been blessed with collectors who have become friends, some for many years. They have continued to stick with us, probably because they appreciate Ed’s quirky sense of humor and my constant blushing from embarrassment. It means everything to know they still enjoy the paintings we provided, and still like us! As for museums, we love to work with them as well and we are thrilled that they seek us out.

Q. Are there any particular themes or trends in the current art market that excite you or influence how you approach exhibitions?

We will always exhibit what we personally enjoy, not what fads dictate. Nevertheless, we are hearing reports of people getting tired of just buying on trend any piece of junk. They are becoming more discriminating, which makes us happy. The market, we sense, is changing, and turning again more toward traditional art. I’ve felt that the art market reflects society; i.e. ugly-chic is a major part of pop culture, and it may appeal to some who disdain fine, nineteenth and early twentieth century art as “grandma taste.” But classic art is today’s treasure and tomorrow’s aesthetic. Hopefully, good taste will eventually win out. While we do not normally handle contemporary art, we are pleased that many talented artists today emulate past masters.

Q. Looking forward, are there artists, movements, or historical periods you’re especially excited to explore next? We have been interested lately in American women surrealist painters, but anything that we come across in art history that moves us will be the next on the agenda.

Liquid Glass captures a luminous Florida wave at its peak — a translucent surge of sea-glass green and soft coastal blue, suspended in motion. Deborah T. Colter In Its Own Keeping 40 x 60, arylic, collage and mixed medium on two panels.

This diptych has a wonderfully energetic, modern feel, built from overlapping geometric shapes—rectangles, arcs, and layered blocks— that create a sense of depth and motion. The palette is rich and varied: teal and turquoise mingle with deep navy, warm browns, rusty reds, oranges, and crisp whites. Within the shapes, subtle textures appear—striped patterns, soft gradients, and even hints of floral motifs—adding complexity without overwhelming the composition. Colter had the pleasure of working with the HGTV Dream Home designers to place three of her pieces in a project built on Martha’s Vineyard.

W HOME WITH A HORIZON

This Chic Condo in East Boca Lives

Like a Five-Star Hotel Suite

hen SKETCH. A Design Studio’s Bridgette Caporaso got a hold of this cozy condo just steps from The Boca Raton’s Beach Club, she knew it had a lot going for it: location, views, and privacy. However, the property was in major need of modernization from style and functionality standpoints. Caporaso and her team embarked on a full-scale renovation to turn this second home into a luxurious retreat that lives way larger than its footprint, thanks to a slew of clever design concepts and custom creations from the design studio’s various workshops.

Photos Courtesy: SKETCH. A Design Studio

First things first, Caporaso had to rethink the home’s floorplan, maximizing entertaining space so that owners and guests alike could savor the nearly panoramic ocean views. The kitchen especially felt choppy, and considering her clients wanted to add full-size refrigeration and a washer/dryer unit, the team was going to have to get creative with every square inch.

Caporaso installed an Invisacook countertop on the kitchen island. It turns into an induction cooktop at a moment’s notice for nights when the couple feels like serving up a meal at home. And she integrated most of the main kitchen appliances to keep the room from screaming “cook space,” since the couple prefers to dine out or order in when vacationing here. Additionally, Caporaso swapped the dining and living areas to incorporate a stunning bar along the interior wall that displays bottles from the clients’ extensive wine collection. This adds additional prep space, giving the bar flexibility to function as a second kitchen.

Lighting was also a major hurdle, and the SKETCH. A Design Studio team was limited in their ability to change it due to condo restrictions. Caporaso had the ceiling’s perimeter dropped ever so slightly and installed cove lighting creating an idyllic ambiance at all hours without taking up precious square footage with lamps and cords. And on the other side of the wall from the bar she installed showstopping custom carved marble panels that were imported from Italy. These panels feature LED lighting behind them and sconces on top, elevating the room’s design by bringing in more texture and artistry without taking up precious space (or distracting too much from the views).

Once Caporaso reconfigured the home’s layout and refreshed the lighting scheme, it was time for the fun stuff: creating a chic contemporary design that would feel contextual without playing up any of the typical beach condo decorating stereotypes.

“The condo definitely has that kind of feeling of being in a penthouse suite at a luxury hotel,” says Caporaso. “The couple didn’t want to go the traditional beachy route of all-white or sandy colors, and I loved that they let us lean into those darker finishes a bit more to give that layer of sophistication to the space.”

In the living area, the SKETCH. A Design Studio team utilized porcelain darker woods to create a stunning wall unit that takes open shelving to the next level with a clever partition to add extra elements of visual interest. In the bedroom, Caporaso and her team created a beautiful TV unit that can be transformed into a desk and sitting area that also helped establish some division between sleep space and home office. Between the proximity to Boca’s most beloved resort and the stunning redesign, this condo feels like one’s permanent penthouse suite in a beloved hotel. What more could one want in a secondary residence?

“Every little square inch of this condo was considered and thought about with almost every surface having some intentional process behind it,” says Caporaso. “We are artists, and we create a really unique type of art, and we are so protective over it. We designed, sourced, procured, and installed nearly everything. I’m so proud of every aspect of it.

RESCUE LIFE

The Power of the Human-Animal Connection

Few were surprised when Meg Weinberger became an animal rights activist. At just 12 years old, while walking to her middle school in South Florida, Weinberger spotted two stray horses lost along a construction site. “So I took my belt off, put it around one of their necks and the other horse just followed along,” remembers Weinberger.

She didn’t make it to school that day, but she did bring home two more animals. Not that the new tenants were a problem for Weinberger’s parents, who at the time had a boarding facility adjacent to their home and a Humane Society start-up operating out of their garage. “From the time that child could walk she loved animals,” says Theoni York, her mother. “But I was the exact same way growing up. We have a long tradition of rescuing all kinds of animals.” And children: Weinberger grew up with two adopted sisters (one who had Down Syndrome), a brother, a sister and many four-legged friends.

Today, Weinberger is the founder of Rescue Life, a veritable Eden—15 acres to be exact—in Palm Beach Gardens. Her two daughters, Zoie and Riley, and husband Eric, all pitch in to care for over 100 animals who have endured abuse, neglect, or surrender. Weinberger’s extended

family includes horses, pigs, donkeys, llamas, zebras, alpacas, and over 15 dogs. There is even a Chinese goose, Quackers, who imprinted on Weinberger years ago. “I can’t leave the farm without giving him a hug,” laughs Weinberger.

But Rescue Life’s mission is also to help people. “We have groups come visit us at least four times a month,” says Weinberger. “We aim to teach kids and adults the healing power of the human-animal connection.” Regular visitors include special needs organizations like The Els School, The Dream Ride Foundation, Extraordinary Kids Foundation, and Project Connect (Palm Beach Synagogue). Weinberger and her team also travel to hospitals, schools and assisted living facilities.

Running an organization of this magnitude takes a special kind of fortitude—and sacrifice. “It’s a challenge,” says Weinberger. “More than half of my workouts in the morning revolve around cleaning stalls and helping my senior dogs. My family and I rarely vacation far because of the animals.” And yet, the Weinbergers would have it no other way. “I would not trade my childhood for anything,” says Zoie, 22, Meg’s eldest daughter. “Growing up at Rescue Life has been a blessing. Caring for others has given me confidence, compassion and resilience. ”

Last year, Weinberger pushed her advocacy work onto a larger platform. As a newly elected State House representative, she co-sponsored Dexter’s Law, providing a sentencing multiplier for animal cruelty and creating a database of offenders. This year, she introduced a bill requiring vets and support staff to report animal cruelty. She also carried a bill to create a pilot program for child victims of sexual exploitation, many of whom are foster children. Weinberger, a long-time volunteer with Place of Hope—a non-profit foster care organization—is herself a foster mother.

“Whether at home or in the State Capitol, Megan has made it her mission to uplift the most vulnerable in our society,” says Stacy Walgreen, Rescue Life’s Director of Development. “What she’s built is more than a rescue, it’s a special place to share our love for animals, become educated about the rescue world, give back and do some healing ourselves.”
