While headlines surrounding real estate continue to vary, Arizona’s luxury market is telling its own story. In August, Scottsdale closings above $3 million increased 55% year over year, while Paradise Valley recorded a 52.4% increase in overall closings, with a median sale price of approximately $3.14 million — up 10.1% from the prior year. Arizona luxury also made history this summer. On July 9, a 20,919-square-foot estate on Mockingbird Lane in Paradise Valley closed for $40.238 million — approximately $1,924 per square foot — setting a new record for the highest residential sale in Arizona history. Those numbers reinforce what we see every day at Luxury Home Magazine: Arizona luxury continues to command attention. As we enter our busiest months, exceptional properties are coming to market, buyers are returning for season, and from Scottsdale and Paradise Valley to the High Country, Lake Havasu and beyond, we are excited to showcase what luxury living in Arizona truly looks like. Loaded Bacon Cheeseburger Bombs with Stadium Sauce MAKES ABOUT 20–24 YOU’LL NEED: 1½ lb ground beef, 8 oz bacon (cooked and chopped), 1 small onion finely diced, 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar, ½ cup chopped dill pickles, 2 cans refrigerated biscuit dough, 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, salt and pepper, 3 tbsp melted butter, sesame seeds, and optional sliced jalapeños. Brown the beef and onion together, season with Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper, then drain well. Stir in the bacon and let the mixture cool slightly. Flatten each piece of biscuit dough into roughly a 4-inch circle. Put a spoonful of beef mixture in the center, followed by a generous pinch of cheddar and a few chopped pickles. Pull the dough around the filling, pinch it completely closed and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.

Brush generously with melted butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake at 375°F for about 15–18 minutes, until deeply golden. Brush them with another little swipe of butter as soon as they come out.

Mix ½ cup mayo + ¼ cup ketchup + 2 tbsp yellow mustard + 2 tbsp finely chopped dill pickles + 1 tbsp pickle juice + 1 tsp Worcestershire + ½ tsp smoked paprika + ½ tsp garlic powder. For the grown-up version, add 1 finely minced jalapeño or a splash of your favorite hot sauce. My tailgate trick: Assemble them the night before and refrigerate. Bake right before you leave. They’re fantastic warm but still dangerously good at room temperature.

HERE ARE WOMEN WHO TALK ABOUT STRENGTH, and then there are women who quietly embody it. Liz Lomax is the latter.
I have the privilege of calling Liz a friend, and when a breast cancer diagnosis turned her 2026 upside down, I watched someone I already considered strong demonstrate an entirely different level of resilience. She didn’t allow cancer to become her identity. She researched, prepared, made decisions and paved a path forward. As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I could think of no woman whose story I would rather share. The Appointment That Changed Everything Ironically, breast cancer wasn’t what brought Liz to the doctor. During an appointment for an unrelated concern, her new OB/GYN asked if she was current on her mammogram. She wasn’t. During the exam, her doctor felt something Liz had noticed too. Having cystic breasts and experiencing false alarms before, she hadn’t been particularly concerned. This time was different.

She remembered calls from friends, rides to appointments, her daughter helping after surgery, and survivors answering questions only they could understand. She also recognizes that not every woman has the same support or resources. Liz had access to excellent care, the ability to step away from work, grown children and people available to help. She thinks about women undergoing chemotherapy while working, raising children or navigating treatment without that support.

Cancer may not discriminate, but the ability to navigate it can look very different from one woman to another. Don’t Wait There is one message Liz especially wants women to hear: Don’t wait. Nearly two years had passed between her mammograms. She had been caring for her mother through cancer and hospice, moving, and managing life’s endless responsibilities. Like so many women, Liz was taking care of everyone around her while quietly moving herself farther down the list. Her message isn’t about guilt. It’s about urgency. If something feels different, get it checked. If you’re due for a screening, schedule it. Ask questions. Trust your instincts. Advocate for yourself. Don’t allow caring for everyone else to mean neglecting yourself. Living for What Comes Next Cancer inevitably introduces statistics— recurrence rates, percentages and outcomes. But Liz refuses to organize her life around what might go wrong. Instead, she focuses on everything that still can go right. She is making plans. She thinks about the next 30 years and what she intends to do with them. Cancer reinforced something we all understand but rarely live as though we truly believe: Nobody is guaranteed tomorrow. So live today. Schedule the mammogram. Investigate the lump. Make the appointment. Understand your diagnosis. Advocate for yourself. And don’t wait for something frightening to happen before giving yourself permission to live. Breast cancer became part of Elizabeth Lomax’s story in 2026. But it does not get to write the ending. Today, she moves forward with a renewed appreciation for Bob, her family, friends, travel, independence, morning coffee and all those beautifully ordinary moments that now mean just a little more. Cancer may have written a chapter in Liz’s story. But the next chapter belongs to her.
