E D I T O R ' S N O T E

Our recent gathering at the World Equestrian Center was a remarkable way to begin the season and an unforgettable milestone for the Luxury Equestrian Network Experiencing such a world-class venue together, while watching top competitors in the jumping ring and meeting new faces from across the East Coast, felt like the perfect expression of what this community is all about: connection, shared perspective, and a deep appreciation for the environments that shape equestrian life It was an inspiring way to kick off our expansion into the Southeast

Over the past six months in particular, the network has taken a meaningful leap from being recognized primarily as a Southern California organization to becoming a truly national community With progress underway toward the launch of our Bucks County, Pennsylvania chapter and conversations unfolding in several additional regions, it’s exciting to see how quickly this vision is taking shape What continues to stand out most, however, is the caliber of the people involved I am continually amazed by the generosity, insight, and collaboration I witness at each event and through every introduction It is an extraordinary group, and I feel genuinely grateful to be part of it

Looking ahead, we are preparing for our upcoming panel discussion at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe another exceptional setting for thoughtful conversation and new connections here in Southern California From there, we’ll turn our focus toward Los Angeles before returning to the East Coast this summer to officially launch the Bucks County chapter and continue building momentum in that region

As always, I’m deeply thankful for this community for the members who show up, who support one another, and who continue to shape what the Luxury Equestrian Network is becoming Each gathering reminds me that this work is not just about places or projects, but about people And it’s a privilege to be building this together.

With gratitude,

THE POWER OF PRESENCE THEEQUINE

PORTRAITSOF JOHNROTHERHAM

Photos courtesy of John Rotherham

Portraiture, at its core, is an act of observation but in the hands of British artist John Rotherham, it becomes something far more powerful His work does not simply capturelikeness;itcapturesenergy, movement, andemotion

Nowhere is that more evident than in his equine portraits, where restraint and expression come together to create work that feels both immediate and timeless

Working from his studio in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, Rotherham has built a career that spans international exhibitions in London, New York, Paris, and Singapore Today, his focus has turned more intimately toward bespoke portrait commissions deeply personal works created for private clients around the world

“I realised early on in my career that I work best working to a client brief I like the challenge of creating something unique for a specific client In addition, I have met many really lovely people on my journey, and it is a privilege to be trusted to create something so personal ”

BEYOND LIKENESS

From an early age, Rotherham was drawn to the complexity of the face the challenge of capturing not just structure, but identity “I think I have always been fascinated by faces and people From being very young I have always preferred the face as a subject than anything else Also, I like the difficulty in capturing a likeness, as the effort required is very satisfying if successful ” That same pursuit carries into his work with horses Yet for Rotherham, likeness alone is never enough

“For me, the likeness in a portrait is an essential, minimum requirement The portrait needs to look like the subject However, beyond that it also needs to have emotional impact I always think even if the viewer has never met the subject, the portrait needs to have 'Wall Power' in order to grab the viewer with its emotional energy Also, because of the power, grace and sheer physicality of a horse, I try to give my portraits as much movement as possible I also like to try and leave as much out as possible, so the viewer can fill in the blanks with their own interpretation Finally, it needs to work as a piece of fine art, to be enjoyed by the viewer ”

That idea Wall Power feels especially relevant within the context of equestrian homes, where art is often expected to do more than decorate It must anchor a space, hold presence, and reflect a deeper connection between owner and horse Rotherham’s work does exactly that, pulling the viewer in through a careful balance of detail and omission

THE SPIRITUAL PRESENCE OF THE HORSE

It is within his equine portraits that Rotherham’s work becomes most expressive “I think horses are very spiritual They embody a physical and emotional element that I try to respond to in my work I also love to play with representing a horse in the most abstract way possible, to try to give a twist on something familiar ”

There is an inherent duality in the horse strength and sensitivity, power and grace and Rotherham leans into that tension His compositions often feel as though they are in motion, even when the subject is still Edges dissolve, forms emerge and recede, and the viewer is left to complete the image

This restraint is intentional By leaving space within the work, he invites interpretation, allowing each viewer to form their own connection to the subject

The result is a portrait that feels less like a static representation and more like a living presence something that continues to reveal itself over time

MOVEMENT, ENERGY, AND RESTRAINT

A defining quality of Rotherham’s work is his ability to balance control with looseness Charcoal allows for fluidity gesture, markmaking, and expression while oils provide depth and flexibility Together, they create a language that is both classical and contemporary

“I love the immediacy and simplicity of charcoal You can work in a very expressive way, which is a great foundation for transitioning to oils I really enjoy the versatility of oils They are very forgiving, and you can re-work areas and completely change the look and feel of a piece Plus, I love the fact that they are very traditional mediums, particularly charcoal ”

This combination allows him to push and pull between clarity and abstraction, revealing just enough while holding something back The viewer is never given everything at once Instead, the work unfolds slowly an experience that mirrors the quiet, observational nature of time spent around horses

EMOTION AND OWNERSHIP

For those who commission his work, the experience is often deeply emotional Horses occupy a unique place in their owners ’ lives and translating that bond into a work of art carries a weight that goes beyond aesthetics

“When I am commissioned by a client, the client has invariably seen examples of my work However, I think they are usually unprepared for seeing their specific horse captured in my style That can be very overwhelming for a client, because the subject is very personal to them ”

What Rotherham captures is not just the horse, but the relationship the history, the memory, the feeling His work resonates even with those who have never met the subject, yet for the owner, it carries an entirely different depth

ENDURING PRESENCE

At its best, a portrait becomes part of the environment it inhabits something that evolves alongside the people who live with it For Rotherham, that long-term relationship is essential

When asked what he hopes someone feels living with his work, Rotherham offers a quietly powerful answer: “To never tire of looking at it For it to give them a lifetime of exploration and enjoyment ” It is a simple statement, but one that speaks to the enduring quality of his work These are not fleeting images They are pieces meant to be lived with returning something new each time they are viewed

In a world saturated with imagery, there is something quietly powerful about work that resists immediacy work that asks for time, attention, and reflection John Rotherham’s equine portraits do exactly that They hold presence They carry emotion And above all, they endure

www.Johnrotherham.co.uk info@bowlandatelier.co.uk

“I think horses are very spiritual. They embody a physical and emotional element that I try to respond to in my work. I also love to play with representing a horse in the most abstract way possible, to try to give a twist on something familiar.”

LORI BRUNO

LORI BRUNO INTERIORS

I have been an interior designer for over 30 years, building a career shaped by art, travel, and a lifelong connection to the spaces and stories around me My love for design and for the equestrian world began in childhood I grew up in a historic carriage house, and I would spend hours rummaging through the old basement, which had once been a horse stable Digging in the dirt, I uncovered horseshoes, ribbons, and small relics from decades past Those early discoveries sparked a passion or history, craftsmanship, and the quiet poetry of objects that have lived a life before us That sense of wonder still guides me today

I studied art and design and hold a BA in painting, giving me an artistic foundation that informs every project I approach interiors with a painter’s sensibility shaping composition, light, balance, texture, and the organic beauty found in nature My inspiration comes from my surroundings, my travels, the years I lived in Europe, and the landscapes that continue to influence me every day

For more than twenty years, I owned and operated the Ligne Roset showrooms in New York City, Miami, and Philadelphia, developing national design studios and collaborating with architects and clients across the country My work spans residential, commercial, and select international projects, many of which have been featured in national publications

Today, as the principal of Lori Bruno Interiors, I create refined, meaningful spaces influenced by my equestrian roots and artdriven aesthetic I am now expanding my practice with a new showroom in New Hope, Pennsylvania a curated reflection of everything that inspires me

The Luxury Equestrian Network’s recent gathering at the World Equestrian Center marked an exciting milestone as we established our presence in Ocala one of the country’s most important equestrian destinations Held on the Stirrups Terrace overlooking the Grand Arena, the afternoon brought together a dynamic group of professionals from across Florida and around the country for conversation, connection, and a shared appreciation of the environments that shape the equestrian lifestyle

With top competitors navigating the jumping course just below the terrace, guests enjoyed a setting that perfectly reflected the spirit of the network immersed in sport while building meaningful professional relationships The afternoon included the presence of a world-class trainer and Olympic rider, along with an outstanding turnout of leading equestrian real estate professionals from across the country That strong national representation was made possible in large part thanks to Tasha Osbourne one of our event sponsors and a co-founder of Global Equestrian Advisors whose support helped bring together such an exceptional group

The event welcomed a thoughtful mix of architects, builders, real estate professionals, designers, and industry partners, creating opportunities for introductions that will continue well beyond the day itself As always, the focus remained on bringing together the people who influence how equestrian environments are envisioned and experienced for horses and for the people who care for them

We are especially grateful to our event sponsors, including American Stalls, Golden Ocala Real Estate, GH2 Architects, and Assured Title Services, whose support made the afternoon possible and reflects the collaborative spirit at the heart of this community

As our first major gathering in Ocala, the event set the tone for future programming in the region and reinforced what we continue to see across the country: there is tremendous enthusiasm for a network dedicated specifically to the professionals shaping equestrian properties and places We look forward to continuing to build relationships in this important market in the months ahead

CAPTURING ISLAND ELEGANCE

On the island of Maui, where ocean breezes meet rolling pastures, a new equestrian facility captures the spirit of both place and purpose Designed and fabricated by American Stalls, this custom barn was

A PALETTE INSPIRED BY THE ISLAND

Visually, the barn embraces a crisp, coastal aesthetic that feels perfectly at home in the Maui scenery

“The client wanted the barn to exude warmth while providing a sharp, clean contrast to the lush Maui landscape,” says Balasaria “The white siding offers a classic, breezy ‘island’ feel, while the deep wood tones and black powder-coated steel add a sense of grounded luxury and timelessness ”

The pairing of bright siding, warm wood, and dark steel accents creates a structure that feels both sophisticated and relaxed an architectural reflection of its surroundings

AIRFLOW, LIGHT, AND EQUINE COMFORT

In a tropical environment, airflow becomes a central design consideration for both horses and humans “Ventilation was our top priority,” Balasaria says “We incorporated heavy-duty welded mesh into the lower portions of the stall doors to ensure exceptional airflow at the horse's level while keeping bedding contained ” This system works together with Dutch doors and windows to harness Maui’s natural trade winds

CRAFTSMANSHIP AND LOGISTICS

A consistent visual language carries through even the secondary architectural elements of the barn

“The second-level railing serves as both a safety feature and a key architectural tie-in,” Balasaria explains “It maintains the barn’s interior's open, airy feel while defining the upper storage or viewing areas ”

Transporting custom-fabricated equipment to Hawaii presented an additional layer of complexity “Logistics for Hawaii projects require precision,” Balasaria says “We used a strict freight protocol to ensure every custom component from the massive aisle doors to the smallest latch arrived ‘ready-to-install ’” American Stalls developed careful packaging systems to protect each piece during the long journey across the Pacific “Our goal was to eliminate any guesswork for the local team during assembly we package all the equipment tightly and safely to ensure smooth transit from our facility to the shipping container ”

“THE VISION WAS TO CREATE A FACILITY THAT CAPTURED ‘ISLAND ELEGANCE’—A HARMONY BETWEEN MAUI’S COASTAL BEAUTY AND REFINED CRAFTSMANSHIP.”
-YASH BALASARIA

A BARN DESIGNED

FOR THE RHYTHM OF POLO

Functionality remained central to the project, particularly in how the barn supports the pace of a polo training program

“The aisle is designed for efficient movement, and the placement of the hinged tack room door ensures that equipment is always within reach during busy training sessions,” Balasaria explains “The flow is optimized so that handlers can move from the tack room to the stalls and out to the field without any bottlenecks ”

Since completion, the barn has quickly become a favorite gathering place for both horses and owners “The horses are resting comfortably, cooled by the trade winds we designed the barn to capture,” he says “It has become a peaceful retreat for the owners as well a place where they can enjoy a quiet connection with their horses before or after a match It is a blessing to hear from our client that their family and their horses all love the barn ”

THE FUTURE OF COASTAL EQUESTRIAN DESIGN

Projects like the Maui barn reflect broader shifts in luxury equestrian architecture

“We are seeing a major shift toward ‘Island Elegance’ and ‘Coastal Luxury’ clients want the sophistication of a high-end home brought into the barn, but with materials that can actually handle the environment,” Balasaria notes

New product innovations are also shaping modern barn design “The bedding blockers used in the stall door threshold are definitely a newer product that is not often seen in projects outside of American Stalls The bedding blocker, while seemingly simple, is truly an innovation in keeping aisles tidier while decreasing stress for our clients ”

A VISION REALIZED

For Balasaria and his team, the Maui project reflects a careful balance of collaboration, craftsmanship, and responsiveness to place

“We are most proud of how the vision came to life in perfect harmony with the surroundings,” he says “It’s a testament to how thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship can create a space that feels both luxurious and deeply grounded in its purpose ”

Delivering a project of this scale on an island site required coordination across multiple phases and teams “This project spanned a couple of years, given the various logistics and phases involved in building the barn Throw in the fact that the project was also in Hawaii, creating additional logistics and timing complexities, which made the seamless execution of this project that much more impressive for our team We truly are proud at every level of how we delivered this project, from project management to engineering to production to logistics and post-care customer service ”

Set against Maui’s trade winds and coastal light, the barn stands as a quiet example of how thoughtful equestrian design can respond not only to horses and riders, but to the landscape itself

TASHA OSBOURNE

In Ocala, Florida widely regarded as the Horse Capital of the World real estate is about far more than land and structures It is about legacy, stewardship, and a way of life shaped by horses Few professionals understand that balance more

intuitively than equestrian realtor Tasha Osbourne, whose career has been defined not only by more than $350 million in sales, but by a deeply relationship-driven approach to serving clients within one of the most dynamic equestrian regions in the country

For Osbourne, Ocala was never simply a market opportunity It was something more personal “Ocala found me at a time when I was looking for more than just a place to live I was looking for a place to belong Nearly two decades later, it’s home in every sense of the word,” she explains Living there for nearly twenty years has shaped the way she guides her clients, allowing her to understand “the rhythm of the market, the people, the land, and the long-term vision of this community ”

That depth of connection informs a perspective that extends beyond transactions In Ocala, real estate decisions are often tied to long-term plans for horses, families, and land stewardship factors that require both local knowledge and careful listening

A MARKET DEFINED BY POSSIBILITY AND PURPOSE

As Osbourne describes it, “Ocala truly is a rare intersection of opportunity and authenticity where buyers can find world-class equestrian infrastructure, expansive acreage, championship training facilities, and a supportive, tight-knit horse community all while still enjoying privacy, accessibility, and growth ” For many clients, the appeal extends well beyond financial considerations Instead, she sees buyers responding to possibilities that are “lifestyle-driven, generational, and deeply personal ”

Osbourne approaches each project through that lens Rather than focusing solely on square footage or acreage, she works closely with clients to understand how their property must function day to day for both horse and rider “Lifestyle is how your day feels, ” she says, describing the quiet rhythm of morning barn checks and the seamless flow between home and farm that supports training, turnout, and travel Her role, she explains, is to listen closely, anticipate needs, and align each client with a property that enhances their daily life not only today, but for years to come

TRUST AT THE CENTER

While many real estate businesses are built on volume, Osbourne’s success has grown through something far more enduring: trust She believes that relationships shape every successful outcome, explaining that “real estate may be the vehicle, but trust is the foundation ” That philosophy is reflected in the white-glove approach she brings to every transaction, much of which happens quietly behind the scenes For her clients, going the extra mile often includes “the latenight calls, the behind-the-scenes problem-solving, the quiet advocacy during negotiations, and the willingness to slow down when a client needs clarity not pressure ” Her background across mortgage, title, and brokerage further strengthens that level of guidance Having worked across

multiple sides of the transaction, she is able to anticipate where challenges may arise and help clients navigate them with confidence “Having experience across mortgage, title, and real estate allows me to see the entire transaction not just one piece of it,” she explains, resulting in fewer surprises and stronger positioning from contract through closing

GUIDING CLIENTS INTO THE EQUESTRIAN LIFESTYLE

Equestrian properties bring a unique level of complexity, requiring coordination across disciplines and thoughtful long-term planning that extends well beyond the closing table For clients new to horse properties, Osbourne takes a deliberate approach to education, guiding them through realistic expectations and introducing them to the broader ecosystem that supports equestrian ownership Rather than overwhelming clients with information, she explains that she prefers to move at a pace that allows them to feel confident in each step of the process That often includes connecting them with trainers, barn managers, veterinarians, and farriers, so they are supported well beyond the transaction itself

As Ocala continues to grow, preserving the agricultural character and open land that define the region has become an increasingly important priority Osbourne’s involvement with organizations such as Horse Farms Forever and Equine Initiatives reflects her commitment to ensuring that progress remains aligned with preservation She believes that balancing growth responsibly requires being “thoughtful, intentional, and informed,” particularly in a region where land use decisions directly shape the future of the equestrian community

In this context, real estate professionals play a meaningful role in guiding long-term outcomes They are often the first to explain zoning considerations, conservation options, and infrastructure implications to buyers and sellers, and with that knowledge comes responsibility As Osbourne notes, their role extends well beyond facilitating transactions; it is ultimately one of stewardship

A GLOBAL NETWORK BUILT ON COLLABORATION

Her leadership extends beyond Central Florida as well As cofounder of the Global Equestrian Advisors, Osbourne has helped create an international referral network designed specifically for equestrian clients whose lives and properties often span multiple regions The initiative grew from her recognition that “equestrian real estate doesn’t operate within borders Horses, lifestyles, and clients move fluidly across countries, disciplines, and seasons yet representation often remained siloed ” Collaboration, she believes, strengthens the industry as a whole Because equestrian real estate is so specialized and personal, she notes that it benefits from advisors working together rather than competing for individual transactions In her view, cooperation leads to stronger representation, better information, and smoother outcomes for clients moving between regions

LOOKING AHEAD

As the equestrian market continues to evolve, Osbourne is seeing buyers place increasing emphasis on properties that combine timeless design with modern functionality and long-term flexibility She notes growing interest in clean architectural approaches, natural materials, wellness-focused living environments, and smart infrastructure that supports both residential comfort and equestrian performance At the same time, thoughtful barn layouts, quality footing, privacy, and adaptability across disciplines remain central priorities for serious horse owners

Ocala itself continues to attract a global audience seeking something deeper than seasonal convenience Increasingly, Osbourne works with clients who are not simply purchasing a second property but establishing long-term roots in a community that supports both lifestyle and legacy As she explains, the region continues to draw “discerning buyers from around the world who want more than a destination; they want roots ”

Despite the sophistication of today’s market, her work remains grounded in the same values that first drew her to Central Florida nearly two decades ago For Osbourne, real estate is ultimately about relationships, trust, and shared purpose “Community and connection are the foundation of everything I do,” she says, emphasizing that when professionals lead with service and integrity, the relationships they build extend far beyond the transaction itself

In a region where land, horses, and heritage remain closely intertwined, that perspective continues to shape not only successful transactions but the future of the equestrian community itself

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

It's 2020 and I'm standing in the middle of a sea of dust, cattle, horses, cowboys, ropes flying past my head, and searing smoke from branding irons filling my nose

I had been transported somehow to what seemed like the Wild West and I instantly fell in love Five years later Cowboy Republic was born

When you purchase one of my prints, it's more than just a piece of art It's a story in a frame that transports you into the world of the Cowboy A piece of history, tradition, and the feeling of a life with no walls

JESSICA DICOSTANZO

EQUIVONT

Born and raised in California on the back of a horse, Jessica had the opportunity to move across the country As a working amateur, she began researching options for bringing her horse along with her Where to board? Who to train with? What farrier options were there? Who transports horses across the country?

After spending hours searching on the web, she became frustrated with the outdated, irrelevant information available Existing directories provided a name and a phone number at best, and there was no way of telling if this professional was even in business anymore After leaving countless voicemails that went unreturned and thumbing through archaic websites, it was obvious there is a huge disconnect between riders and the professionals

In any other service-related industry consumers search online to find out what their options are Whether it be a restaurant, a plumber, or buying a car Why wouldn’t horse people adopt a similar approach?

This experience powered the concept of Equivont Jessica teamed up with Jacki to bring this word-of-mouth industry up to the digital era Equivont partners with reputable and relevant businesses and professionals who WANT TO BE FOUND by the equestrians who are searching for them
