THE NEW LANGUAGE OF WELLNESS

FROM PERSONAL HEALTH TO PREVENTATIVE TRAVEL

For decades, luxury wellness was defined by escape. A weekend away. A massage menu. A quiet pool and a promise of relaxation before returning, unchanged, to everyday life.

But today’s traveller is no longer seeking a pause.

They are seeking progress.

Across the world, wellness has undergone a fundamental transformation. No longer positioned as indulgence or retreat, it has evolved into something far more intentional, a lifestyle philosophy rooted in longevity, science, environment and self-awareness. From alpine medical sanctuaries to mineral-rich valleys and

globally designed wellness ecosystems, the new era of wellbeing is not about momentary pleasure, but measurable, lasting vitality.

This is the new language of wellness, one spoken through diagnostics rather than decoration, prevention rather than cure, and deeply personal journeys rather than one-size-fits-all programs.

At the forefront of this evolution stand three leaders redefining how, where and why we heal: Kings’ Valley Medical & Spa Hotel in Bulgaria, MAYRLIFE Altaussee in Austria, and global wellness visionaries GOCO Hospitality.

Together, they illustrate a powerful shift in modern travel, from escape to intention, from pampering to purpose.

WELLNESS BEGINS WITH THE BODY, AND WITH UNDERSTANDING

Modern wellness begins with a simple realisation: the body cannot be restored without first being understood.

Today’s guests arrive not seeking luxury treatments alone, but clarity, insight into how their bodies function, why they feel depleted, and how they can live better for longer. This demand has given rise to medical wellness destinations that blend hospitality with advanced health science, offering guests not only comfort, but knowledge.

In the heart of Bulgaria’s famed Kazanlak Mineral Baths region, Kings’ Valley Medical & Spa Hotel embodies this new approach.

Since ancient times, the mineral waters of the region have been revered for their restorative properties, believed to strengthen the body, calm the nervous system and restore balance. Kings’ Valley builds upon this centuries-old wisdom with contemporary medical precision, creating a destination where tradition and technology coexist seamlessly.

At the core of the experience lies the expansive 4,000-squaremetre Medical & Spa Center, featuring six indoor and outdoor mineral pools, hydromassage baths and an extensive thermal circuit of saunas, hammams and relaxation spaces inspired by the elemental forces of earth and fire. Here, healing is not symbolic; it is tangible, flowing through mineral-rich waters used for balneotherapy, recovery

programs, sports and cosmetic procedures.

Beyond the spa environment, Kings’ Valley Medical Center introduces world-class medical equipment and therapeutic technologies, enabling personalised treatment and recovery programs under professional supervision. Guests are invited not merely to relax, but to restore, supporting mobility, circulation, musculoskeletal health and overall vitality.

The experience reflects a growing truth in modern wellness: the body thrives when nature and science work together.

FROM RECOVERY TO LONGEVITY

While destinations like Kings’ Valley address restoration and recovery, the global conversation around wellness has moved even further, toward longevity.

Preventative medicine has become the new luxury.

Rather than waiting for imbalance or illness, today’s travellers are investing proactively in their long-term health. This shift has propelled medical health resorts to the forefront of luxury travel, none more respected than MAYRLIFE Altaussee in Austria.

Nestled within a serene alpine landscape, MAYRLIFE Altaussee represents one of the most refined expressions of modern preventive medicine in hospitality today. Renowned for its sciencedriven approach, the resort sets

benchmarks in personalised health, metabolic health and nutrition-focused therapies.

MAYRLIFE’s philosophy draws on the principles of Modern Mayr Medicine, which emphasise digestive health as fundamental to physical balance and vitality. What distinguishes MAYRLIFE is its integration of this established methodology with contemporary insights from longevity science and functional medicine.

Each guest receives a highly individualised medical program, supported by advanced diagnostics and testing and designed by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nutrition experts, physiotherapists and specialists in movement, stress regulation and regeneration. No two paths are alike, because no two bodies are the same.

Programs focus on supporting metabolic health, regulating stress responses and enhancing long-term vitality. Nutrition becomes therapeutic. Movement becomes intentional. Rest becomes strategic.

Set against the stillness of the Austrian Alps, the environment itself supports the process, reinforcing the understanding that healing occurs not only through treatment, but through rhythm, calm and connection to place.

MAYRLIFE Altaussee does not promise transformation in days. Instead, it offers something far more valuable: the tools, knowledge and physiological reset needed to support health long after departure.

This is wellness not as escape, but as investment.

WHY PREVENTATIVE TRAVEL IS RISING NOW

The rise of medical and preventative travel is not accidental. It reflects a broader global shift in mindset.

Modern travellers are living longer, but not always better. Burnout, chronic stress, digestive imbalance and lifestyle-related conditions have become common even among younger generations. As awareness grows, so does the desire to intervene earlier, smarter and more holistically.

Luxury, once measured by excess, is now defined by optimisation.

Guests want evidence. Structure. Expertise. They seek destinations that offer tangible outcomes rather than vague promises. This demand has reshaped the wellness industry, and no organisation understands this transformation more deeply than GOCO Hospitality.

DESIGNING THE FUTURE OF WELLNESS

Based in Thailand and operating globally, GOCO Hospitality is a leading wellness consultancy responsible for shaping some of the world’s most forward-thinking spa and wellness destinations.

Working in close collaboration with prestigious hospitality brands including Four Seasons, Bulgari, The Ritz-Carlton, Waldorf Astoria, JW Marriott, Capella and more, GOCO approaches wellness not as an amenity, but as infrastructure, an integral component of modern hospitality development.

Their expertise spans market research and feasibility, concept and brand development, design and technical services, pre-opening strategy, training and long-term management. From hospitality resorts to urban mixed-use developments and future-facing giga cities, GOCO’s projects reflect a deep understanding of how

wellness must function within contemporary lifestyles.

Central to their philosophy is the belief that wellness should be woven into daily life, accessible, intelligent and adaptable. This vision is further reflected in GOCO’s ownership of Horwath Health & Wellness, part of the world’s oldest hospitality consulting group, which works alongside sovereign funds and major investment stakeholders on large-scale wellness developments.

GOCO’s work highlights a critical truth: the future of wellness lies not only in destinations, but in design, in how spaces support movement, rest, social connection and mental clarity.

As wellness continues to shift from retreat to routine, GOCO stands at the forefront of creating environments where health is not an occasional pursuit, but a natural part of living.

WHERE BODY, MIND AND PLACE CONVERGE

What unites Kings’ Valley, MAYRLIFE Altaussee and GOCO Hospitality is not geography, but philosophy.

Each recognises that true wellbeing exists at the intersection of three essential elements:

* Body, supported through science, diagnostics and therapeutic care

* Mind, restored through calm, structure and intentional living

* Place, where environment becomes an active participant in healing

This triad defines the new language of wellness.

It is a language spoken quietly, through mineral water, alpine air, personalised programs and thoughtfully designed spaces. One that values prevention over reaction, depth over decoration, and longevity over luxury for luxury’s sake.

As travellers become more discerning, wellness is no longer a trend to follow, it is a responsibility to uphold.

The most meaningful journeys now ask not, “How relaxed will I feel?” But rather, “How well will I live when I return?”

In this new era, wellness is not something we visit.

It is something we learn and take home with us.

HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDULGENCE AND IMPACT WHEN WELLNESS ISN’T WELLNESS

Luxury wellness has never been more desirable, or more misunderstood.

As demand for spa escapes, detox retreats and “healing holidays” continues to grow, so too does a quieter reality: not all wellness experiences are created equal. Beneath tranquil imagery and beautifully styled treatment rooms, meaningful differences exist between destinations that truly support wellbeing, and those that

simply package relaxation under the guise of health.

In an era where wellness has become a powerful marketing term, discernment matters. Knowing what to look for and what to question can make the difference between a restorative journey and a missed opportunity for genuine care.

Here are four key red flags to consider before booking a so-called spa escape.

1. NO QUALIFIED PRACTITIONERS

One of the most important, and often overlooked, indicators of credible wellness is who is delivering the experience.

A thoughtfully designed spa environment is not enough on its own. Meaningful wellness journeys require trained professionals with appropriate credentials, particularly when treatments extend beyond relaxation into areas such as detoxification, movement therapy, nutrition, or stress regulation.

If a property cannot clearly explain the qualifications of its practitioners or relies solely on generic spa therapists for health-focused programs, this should prompt further questioning. True wellness destinations are transparent about their teams - whether medical professionals, physiotherapists, nutrition specialists or trained therapists - and about the scope of care they are qualified to provide.

Wellness should never rely on ambiguity.

2. OVER-PROMISING DETOX CLAIMS

Few words in wellness marketing are as misused as “detox.”

While the body naturally detoxifies through its own biological systems, many retreats promote rapid cleanses, extreme fasting, or dramatic promises of renewal without adequate explanation or supervision.

When results are guaranteed or transformation is promised in a matter of days, caution is warranted.

Responsible wellness providers speak carefully. They focus on supporting the body rather than forcing it and avoid sensational claims that lack scientific grounding. Sustainable wellbeing is not about instant results, but about restoring balance gently and intelligently.

If the language feels too dramatic, it often is.

3. ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL PROGRAMS

Personalisation lies at the heart of modern wellness.

Programs that follow rigid schedules - identical meal plans, identical treatments, identical daily routines - fail to acknowledge a fundamental truth: no two bodies respond in the same way. Age, lifestyle, stress levels, physical condition and personal goals all shape how wellness should be approached.

Destinations offering truly meaningful experiences take time to understand the guest, adjusting treatments, movement and nutrition accordingly. Even within non-medical environments, thoughtful flexibility is a sign of quality.

When every guest receives the same “journey,” wellness becomes performance rather than purpose.

4. LACK OF MEDICAL SUPERVISION WHERE IT MATTERS

Not every wellness stay requires medical oversight, but when programs involve fasting, intensive detoxification, physical rehabilitation, or significant dietary changes, professional supervision becomes essential.

The absence of medical guidance in such cases introduces unnecessary risk. Credible wellness destinations are clear about their boundaries, ensuring that any medically influenced programs are appropriately supervised and that guests are never encouraged to push beyond safe limits.

True luxury wellness prioritises responsibility over bravado.

CHOOSING WELLNESS WITH INTENTION

The most meaningful wellness experiences do not shout the loudest. They rarely promise miracles, and they seldom rely on trends alone. Instead, they communicate with clarity, transparency and care, grounded in expertise, honesty and long-term wellbeing.

As wellness continues to evolve from indulgence to intention, travellers are increasingly empowered to ask better questions and expect higher standards.

Because real wellness does not need exaggeration.

It needs integrity.

MIND

Mental clarity, mindful rituals, and the art of inner balance

THE RETURN TO RITUAL: ANCIENT HEALING IN THE MODERN WORLD

In a world defined by constant connectivity and relentless pace, travellers are seeking sanctuary, not merely in quiet spaces, but in the deliberate, timeless rhythms of ancient wellness. As burnout rises and modern life tests both body and mind, ageold systems of care are experiencing a renaissance, reinterpreted through the lens of contemporary luxury. Ayurveda, mindfulness, and ceremonial healing are no longer exotic curiosities; they are sought-after pathways to balance, clarity, and renewal.

The allure of ritual lies in its structure: a framework for daily life that nourishes body, mind, and spirit. While wellness resorts built around cutting-edge science and medical technologies emphasise metrics, diagnostics, and optimisation, a growing cohort of travellers is returning to experiences that honour tradition, culture, and the slow unfolding of wellbeing. Here, intention and immersion take precedence over efficiency.

ANCIENT WISDOM, MODERN LUXURY

Across continents, the resurgence of ritual manifests in unique ways. In the mountains of Tyrol, Austria, the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof Tirol adapts the timeless principles of Indian Ayurveda to European sensibilities. Founded on seven pillars - Consultation & Treatment, Ayurvedic Nutrition, Healing Spirit, Yoga & Meditation, Nature & Movement, Coaching & Education, and Creativity - the resort embodies a holistic vision of care, one in which each element functions as part of a coherent system, working in harmony like the gears of a finely crafted timepiece.

With 32 rooms and suites and a 3,000 m² spa area featuring treatment rooms, saunas, a steam bath, and an indoor pool, Sonnhof Tirol offers more than treatments: it offers an environment designed for complete restoration. Around 60 dedicated staff ensure that every guest’s experience is seamless, attentive, and deeply personalised. For visitors, the result is more than relaxation; it is a feeling of being “reborn,” a renewal of body, mind, and perspective that resonates long after departure.

In contrast, on the lush island of Bali, Ayurvedagram Bali presents a tropical sanctuary where Kerala’s centuriesold Ayurvedic traditions are harmoniously fused with Balinese culture. Here, daily rituals of wellness extend beyond therapy rooms into the rhythms of nature itself. Guests embark on bespoke programs, ranging from Panchakarma detox and rejuvenation to fertility enhancement, stress

management, and pain relief, guided by daily consultations with vaidya practitioners. Each therapy is complemented by yoga, pranayama, and mindfulness practices, ensuring the journey is comprehensive, intentional, and deeply immersive.

The integration of Ayurveda with local Balinese rituals makes Ayurvedagram uniquely experiential. Beyond physical therapies, guests are invited into a dialogue with culture and environment, discovering restoration not as an abstract goal, but as a lived, sensory practice. Nutrition follows suit: plant-based Ayurvedic cuisine, crafted with a farm-to-table philosophy, balances individual doshas while remaining light, sustainable, and harmonious with the island’s abundance.

EUROPE VS. ASIA: TWO PERSPECTIVES, ONE PHILOSOPHY

While European and Asian approaches to Ayurveda share a foundational respect for natural rhythms and holistic care, their expressions diverge beautifully. In Europe, resorts like European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof Tirol translate traditional practices into a context attuned to Western lifestyles, temperaments, and climates. Programs are highly structured, educational, and incorporate coaching, movement, and creativity alongside classical therapies. The result is an accessible, evidence-informed interpretation of Ayurveda, designed for long-term integration into modern life.

In Asia, particularly at Ayurvedagram Bali, the focus leans into immersive experience and cultural resonance. Here,

authenticity is intertwined with environment: lush tropical gardens, open-air Yogashalas, and daily connection with nature enhance the therapeutic effect. The ancient rituals are practiced as they were for centuries yet tailored to individual doshas and modern wellness goals. Visitors leave not just restored, but culturally and spiritually enriched, carrying with them the rhythms and philosophies of a deeply rooted tradition.

PERSONALISED RITUALS AT THE HEART OF EXPERIENCE

Both European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof Tirol and Ayurvedagram Bali share a common ethos: personalisation is essential. Wellness is not a uniform prescription; it is a carefully crafted dialogue between practitioner and guest. Sonnhof Tirol ensures each visitor’s program addresses physical needs, psychological balance, and lifestyle integration, combining treatments, meditation, nutrition, and movement into a cohesive whole. At Ayurvedagram, every therapy, consultation, and culinary choice is designed around the guest’s dosha, individual goals, and life context, ensuring that the healing journey is as unique as the individual.

This commitment to bespoke care extends beyond immediate

treatment. At Sonnhof Tirol, coaching and education empower guests to continue their Ayurvedic practices at home. At Ayurvedagram, the integration of local culture and immersive rituals encourages a deeper understanding of wellness as a lifestyle, not a fleeting escape. In both cases, ritual is not a performance but a scaffold for sustained wellbeing.

WHY RITUAL RESONATES TODAY

The resurgence of ancient wellness systems reflects a broader cultural shift. Travellers increasingly crave experiences that reconnect them with themselves, with nature, and with practices that have endured the test of time. Ritual offers structure, predictability, and reflection, qualities often absent in modern life. It reminds us that healing is a process, not a checkbox, and that true luxury is measured not by extravagance, but by the care, intention, and depth of experience.

In an era dominated by screens, metrics, and instant results, resorts like Sonnhof Tirol and Ayurvedagram Bali offer something radical: time. Time to pause, to reflect, to engage fully with practices that honour both body and mind. These experiences are, in their essence, educational, transformative, and profoundly restorative.

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE ON THE SACRED

Whether nestled in the Alpine serenity of Austria or the tropical vibrancy of Bali, the principles are universal: intentional movement, mindful eating, thoughtful meditation, and culturally attuned rituals create space for balance and renewal. They remind luxury travellers that wellness is not a service to be consumed, but a practice to be embodied.

The return to ritual in the modern luxury landscape signals more than nostalgia; it is a conscious response to the pressures of contemporary life. By embracing centuries-old wisdom, travellers are not just seeking indulgence, they are reclaiming equilibrium, cultivating clarity, and investing in enduring vitality.

In the convergence of ancient knowledge and modern luxury, European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof Tirol and Ayurvedagram Bali offer luminous examples of what wellness can, and should, be: deliberate, soulful, and exquisitely personal.

WELLNESS THAT HEALS THE MIND — NOT JUST THE BODY

In an age of constant stimulation, the greatest luxury is no longer excess, it is exhale.

As modern life accelerates, travellers are increasingly seeking wellness experiences that soothe the nervous system, quiet the mind, and restore emotional balance. While science-driven retreats and medical programmes address optimisation and longevity, a parallel movement is unfolding, one rooted in stillness, sensory comfort, and the gentle recalibration of the inner world.

This new chapter of luxury wellness is less about transformation and more about tenderness. It prioritises calm over correction, atmosphere over agenda, and presence over performance. Here, healing is subtle, unfolding through touch, warmth, water, silence, and ritual.

It is within this space that experiential spas are reclaiming their relevance, offering sanctuaries designed not to fix, but to soften.

THE RISE OF EMOTIONAL WELLNESS

Mental wellbeing today is increasingly understood not as the absence of stress, but as the ability to regulate it. Emotional wellness is shaped by rhythm, environment, and sensory cues, by how safe, supported, and unhurried the body feels.

Luxury travellers are responding accordingly. They are choosing destinations that slow the tempo of daily life, where phones fall silent, schedules loosen, and time regains its elasticity. These experiences do not demand discipline or endurance; instead, they invite surrender.

Spas that focus on emotional restoration often work intuitively. Through warmth, water, aroma, touch, and atmosphere, they encourage the nervous system to downshift, gently guiding guests back toward equilibrium.

Two destinations exemplify this philosophy beautifully: Irene Spa in Thailand and Le Primore Eden Spa in Hungary.

ISLAND STILLNESS: IRENE SPA, KOH LIPE

Set within the lush tropical surroundings of Koh Lipe, Irene Spa at Irene Resort offers a sanctuary where tranquillity is not curated, it is innate.

Surrounded by swaying palms, ocean air, and the natural rhythm of island life, the spa is designed to nurture both body and mind through simplicity and care. From the moment guests arrive, the environment signals a shift: slower movement, softer sound, deeper breath.

Irene Spa draws inspiration from traditional Thai healing practices, blending them seamlessly with modern techniques to create treatments that are restorative rather than prescriptive. The spa menu features soothing massages, invigorating body scrubs, and revitalising facials, each performed by skilled therapists using high-quality, natural products.

What defines the experience is its personal nature. Every treatment is thoughtfully tailored to individual needs, allowing guests to feel genuinely seen and supported. There is no rigid framework, no expectation of outcome, only attentive care and intuitive flow.

In this island setting, wellness becomes experiential rather than instructional. Healing emerges not through intensity, but through gentleness: the rhythm of hands, the scent of botanicals, the warmth of tropical air. Emotional tension dissolves quietly, replaced by a sense of ease that lingers well beyond the treatment room.

At Irene Spa, the mind heals because it is allowed to rest.

WATER, WARMTH & RITUAL: LE PRIMORE

EDEN SPA, HUNGARY

In contrast to tropical serenity, Le Primore Eden Spa offers a deeply grounding experience shaped by water, heat, and ritual.

Described as an island of tranquillity and renewal, Eden Spa is where nature’s elements and Eastern-inspired pampering converge in harmony. At the heart of the experience are mineral-rich thermal pools fed by the spa’s own spring water, a natural resource long associated with relaxation, comfort, and renewal.

Here, wellness unfolds through immersion. Warmth envelops the body. Water supports weightlessness. Silence becomes tangible.

The spa experience extends across multiple environments, each designed to serve a different emotional and sensory need. Adventure pools and thermal pools invite release and relaxation, while a trio of distinctive sauna worlds deepens the journey.

The Family Sauna provides a textile-friendly environment suitable for shared relaxation, allowing even guests over the age of 14 to enjoy the benefits of sauna safely. The Experienced Sauna caters to seasoned sauna users seeking a more intense heat experience, while the Lady Sauna offers a private, harmonious space dedicated exclusively to women, an intimate environment where discretion and calm take precedence.

Private spa and hammam programmes further elevate the experience, allowing guests to step into rituals inspired by Eastern traditions. These

moments of warmth, steam, and stillness create a powerful sense of emotional grounding, a return to the body as a place of comfort rather than tension.

At Le Primore Eden Spa, the mind settles not through instruction, but through sensation.

DIFFERENT LANDSCAPES, SHARED INTENTION

Though separated by geography, Irene Spa and Le Primore Eden Spa share a profound philosophical alignment.

Both understand that mental wellness cannot be forced. It must be invited.

Whether through the barefoot ease of island life or the enveloping warmth of thermal waters, each destination creates conditions where the mind naturally begins to quiet. There is no pressure to improve, optimise, or achieve. Instead, guests are offered space, to pause, to feel, to simply be.

These environments support emotional recalibration by engaging the senses: touch, temperature, aroma, sound, and stillness. In doing so, they address a truth often overlooked

in modern wellness, that peace is physiological as much as psychological.

When the body feels safe, the mind follows.

A SOFTER DEFINITION OF LUXURY

The evolution of luxury wellness reflects a deeper cultural shift. As expectations rise and lifestyles intensify, travellers are redefining what indulgence truly means.

Today, luxury is not found in complexity or abundance. It is found in gentleness.

In unhurried mornings. In warm water and quiet rooms. In treatments that soothe rather than challenge.

Spas like Irene Spa and Le Primore Eden Spa respond to this desire with grace. They offer experiences that feel emotionally intelligent, attuned to the human need for comfort, care, and sensory calm.

In doing so, they remind us that wellness is not always about becoming better versions of ourselves.

Sometimes, it is simply about coming home to ourselves.

PLACE

Where You Heal Matters: The Power of Place in Wellness

HEALING LANDSCAPES: WHEN NATURE BECOMES THE THERAPIST

For centuries, humans have instinctively sought healing in nature, in warm mineral waters, clean air, open skies, and landscapes that quiet the mind without effort. Long before wellness became an industry, place itself was the medicine.

Today, as travel becomes increasingly intentional, this ancient understanding is re-emerging. Wellness is no longer confined to treatment rooms or spa

menus. It is shaped by where we arrive, what surrounds us, and how the environment invites the body and mind to respond.

From geothermal springs to protected nature reserves and urban green sanctuaries, location has evolved from backdrop to active participant in the healing process. In modern luxury travel, place is no longer decorative, it is therapeutic.

NATURE AS A SILENT HEALER

Scientific discourse may speak of nervous system regulation and sensory response, but the truth is simpler: certain environments make us feel better.

Warm water encourages release. Green space restores focus. Stillness softens thought. Light, scent, sound, and temperature work together subtly, guiding the body toward equilibrium without instruction.

The most compelling wellness destinations understand this instinctively. They design experiences that allow nature to lead, offering immersion rather than intervention.

Three destinations illustrate this philosophy with clarity: Glen Ivy Hot Springs in the United States, Le Primore Hotel & Spa in Hungary, and St. Gregory in Singapore.

Each is profoundly different in

setting, yet united by one belief: healing begins with place.

GLEN IVY HOT SPRINGS, A LANDSCAPE OF JOY

There is no other place quite like Glen Ivy Hot Springs.

Set amid lush landscapes in Southern California, Glen Ivy has long been celebrated as a destination where mineral spring pools, open skies, and human connection converge. More than

a spa, it is a living environment, one defined by warmth, laughter, and a collective sense of ease.

At its heart are the mineral spring pools, inviting guests to immerse themselves in water that has drawn visitors for generations. Surrounding them, palm-lined pathways, sunlit terraces, and expansive outdoor spaces create an atmosphere that feels open, social, and effortlessly uplifting.

Glen Ivy prides itself on being

everyone’s resort, a place for friends, families, couples, and solo travellers alike. Whether visiting for therapeutic treatments, a wellness escape, nourishing food, or simply time spent outdoors, the experience is designed to feel seamless, joyful, and inclusive.

Signature experiences such as Club Mud and The Grotto invite playful exploration alongside deep relaxation, reinforcing the idea that wellness does not have

to be solemn to be meaningful.

Here, nature does not whisper, it welcomes. The landscape encourages presence, movement, and connection, reminding guests that wellbeing can be light-hearted, communal, and restorative all at once.

At Glen Ivy, healing happens not only in stillness, but in shared moments, proof that happiness itself can be therapeutic.

WHERE WATER SHAPES WELLNESS

In Hungary’s storied spa region of Hévíz, water has long defined the rhythm of life.

Nestled at the edge of a protected nature reserve and just steps from Europe’s largest natural thermal lake, Le Primore Hotel & Spa*****superior is deeply connected to its environment. The landscape here is quiet, expansive, and grounding — an ideal foundation for holistic restoration.

The resort’s Eden Spa spans more than 11,500 square metres, offering a comprehensive wellness sanctuary shaped by thermal and experience pools, expansive relaxation areas, and three distinct sauna worlds. Each space responds to different moods and preferences, from

the social warmth of the Family Sauna to the serenity of the Lady Sauna and the intensity of the Experienced Sauna.

Private Spa and Hammam programmes provide secluded environments for those seeking absolute privacy, while authentic Balinese and Hammam rituals introduce cultural depth to the experience.

The influence of place extends beyond the spa. Natural thermal waters, regional traditions, and the surrounding reserve all contribute to a sense of calm continuity, an environment where restoration feels organic rather than orchestrated.

Culinary artistry forms an integral part of the Le Primore experience. At the fine-dining restaurant La Vie, honoured with two Gault & Millau Toques, regional ingredients

meet modern creativity and elegant presentation, creating a gastronomic journey thoughtfully aligned with the resort’s philosophy of holistic rejuvenation.

At Le Primore, wellness unfolds through harmony, between water and land, indulgence and intention, luxury and landscape.

ST. GREGORY, AN URBAN SANCTUARY IN BLOOM

Not all healing landscapes are remote.

In the heart of Singapore, St. Gregory offers a rare gift: tranquillity within the city. Nestled inside a lush green oasis, the award-winning spa provides respite from the fast-paced rhythm of urban life, a place where calm exists just beyond the city’s pulse.

Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, the environment immediately signals retreat. The transition from street to sanctuary is perceptible; sound softens, movement slows, and attention turns inward.

St. Gregory’s spa menu blends traditional and contemporary approaches, from signature

Tui Na Massage, rooted in Chinese therapeutic tradition, to revitalising facials such as the Thalion Oxygen and Radiance and Elemis Pro-Glow Smooth Facial.

The experience is designed to restore balance, offering treatments that address both physical tension and mental fatigue. Within this green enclave, the contrast between city energy and natural calm becomes part of the therapy itself.

St. Gregory demonstrates that healing does not require distance, only intention. By integrating nature into an urban context, the spa offers a powerful reminder that wellness can exist wherever space is protected for stillness.

THREE DESTINATIONS, ONE PHILOSOPHY

Though separated by continents, Glen Ivy Hot Springs, Le Primore Hotel & Spa, and St. Gregory share a common understanding: the environment is not secondary to wellness, it is foundational.

Each destination uses its setting differently. Glen Ivy harnesses openness and joy. Le Primore draws strength from thermal waters and protected nature. St. Gregory creates sanctuary within greenery and calm.

Yet all achieve the same outcome: they allow the body and mind to respond naturally to place.

There is no pressure to transform. No expectation to optimise. Healing unfolds through immersion, through warmth, landscape, water, and silence.

WHERE YOU HEAL MATTERS

As wellness travel evolves, travellers are becoming increasingly discerning. They are no longer asking only what treatments are offered, but where those experiences occur.

Because place shapes perception.

Because environment influences emotion.

Because healing is not only something we do, it is something we enter.

In a world saturated with noise, destinations that honour nature, protect space, and design with intention offer something quietly radical.

They remind us that sometimes, the most powerful therapist is the land itself.

INTERVIEW

CLARITY, CALM, AND CONTEMPORARY HEALING

A CONVERSATION WITH ALFRED HACKL, GENERAL MANAGER OF LE PRIMORE HOTEL & SPA*****SUPERIOR

Set beside Europe’s largest natural thermal lake, Le Primore Hotel & Spa*****superior represents a new chapter in Hungary’s storied wellness heritage. Blending medical expertise, expansive design, and a deeply considered approach to regeneration, the resort positions wellness not as an indulgence, but as a way of living.

We sat down with Alfred Hackl, General Manager of Le Primore Hotel & Spa*****superior, to discuss his professional journey, the philosophy behind the property, and his vision for meaningful, long-term wellbeing.

Can you share your professional journey within hospitality and what ultimately led you to take on the role of General Manager at Le Primore Hotel & Spa?

My professional journey has been shaped by international roles within high-end hospitality, with a strong

focus on quality, service culture, and sustainable resort development. What ultimately drew me to Le Primore was not only its exceptional infrastructure, but also the opportunity to actively shape a new form of luxury within spa and wellbeing tourism. This is not about conventional hospitality, but about a holistic concept that brings together medical expertise, generosity of space, and a sense of calm.

Le Primore is set within a truly unique natural location beside Europe’s largest thermal lake. How does this sense of place influence the way you approach luxury and wellness at the property?

Hévíz has been renowned worldwide for centuries for its exceptional therapeutic results. This long-established medical and healing tradition fundamentally shapes our understanding of wellbeing at Le Primore.

We build upon this inherited knowledge and combine it with a contemporary approach, enhanced by our own certified healing water, which forms the heart of our spa and regeneration concept. Here, the location is not a backdrop, but the foundation of our quality promise.

Our March edition explores wellness as a lifestyle rather than a short escape. How does Le Primore integrate long-term wellbeing into the guest journey beyond the traditional spa experience?

We see wellbeing not as a moment, but as a process. Guests experience a carefully curated journey that includes medically guided regeneration, mindful movement, moments of rest, and refined cuisine.

Our aim is to create sustainable impulses that accompany guests well beyond their stay and positively influence their everyday lives.

Science-backed wellness is becoming increasingly important to today’s traveller. How does Le Primore balance evidence-

based therapies with ancient traditions such as Hammam and Balinese rituals?

For us, science and tradition are not opposites — they complement one another. Evidence-based therapies provide trust and effectiveness, while traditional rituals add emotional depth and cultural meaning. What matters most is the quality of execution and the individual tailoring of each experience to the guest.

As General Manager, how do you cultivate a team culture that reflects calm, care, and authenticity — qualities guests increasingly seek in wellness-led travel?

A credible spa and wellbeing culture always begins internally. We place great emphasis on respectful leadership, clear structures, and allowing sufficient time for quality — including for our team.

Only team members who experience balance and purpose themselves can authentically pass this mindset on to our guests.

Luxury today is shifting from excess to meaning. In your view, what defines ‘true

luxury’ for the modern wellness traveller visiting Hévíz?

At Le Primore, luxury means clarity.

It is the freedom not to structure time, to experience generous spaces, and to rely on quality — medically, culinary-wise, and on a human level. True luxury emerges where guests are allowed to slow down, without having to meet expectations.

How do you see Le Primore contributing to the broader wellness identity of Hungary, particularly as Hévíz continues to evolve as a leading European thermal destination?

We consciously position Le Primore in Hévíz not as a traditional spa or cure hotel, but as a modern spa destination with medical depth and international appeal.

We see ourselves as a bridge between Hungary’s centuries-old spa heritage and a contemporary, multi-generational understanding of regeneration, prevention, and quality of life.

Looking ahead, what is your personal vision for Le Primore Hotel & Spa, and how do you hope guests will feel — physically and emotionally — long after they return home?

My personal vision is to create a place that has a lasting effect. Guests should leave Le Primore feeling physically strengthened and emotionally balanced, with a calmer perspective on themselves and a sense of having returned to their own rhythm. If a stay continues to resonate long after guests return home, then we have achieved our goal.

With its rare thermal setting, medical depth, and quietly confident approach to luxury, Le Primore Hotel & Spa*****superior stands as a compelling example of how wellness is evolving — from escape to integration. Under Alfred Hackl’s leadership, the resort invites guests not to disconnect from life, but to reconnect with balance, clarity, and a more sustainable rhythm of living.
