s I reflect on the past year, I am incredibly proud of the momentum, growth, and collaboration taking place throughout the Collierville business community.

The Collierville Chamber continues to grow because of the strength of our members, community partners, volunteers, and local leaders who are committed to making Collierville a great place to live, work, and do business. Together, we have celebrated new businesses, strengthened existing relationships, expanded programming, and created new opportunities for connection and engagement across our community. At the Chamber, our mission remains focused on supporting local businesses and serving as a connector, advocate, and resource for our members. From networking events and educational programs to workforce initiatives and community partnerships, we are continually looking for ways to provide value and create meaningful impact. Collierville High School Reflecting the Heart of the Community It Serves

he Spirit of Collierville resides in all of us who choose to make our home here, and Collierville High School is a beautiful representation of both our greater community and the world. “It’s like the United Nations in here – so many languages, religions, races, and cultures, all harmonizing under one roof,” says Principal Roger Jones. It’s not just the school’s demographics, but what they care about, what they support, and what they encourage in their students: Service. Education. Community. Empathy. Vocation. That’s why CHS is a perfect choice for our 2025 Spirit of Collierville Award. The largest high school in Tennessee – 450,000 square feet of facilities housing about 3,000 students – could easily create an environment of anonymity. Instead, they do the opposite: Everyone is welcome. Everyone is seen. And every student has an opportunity to find their place here. With more than 100 clubs, a phenomenal theater program, athletics, community service, and career and technical training, the school continually creates pathways for students to find themselves and prepare for what comes next. As Jones puts it, the goal is to “prepare kids for their tomorrow, not our today.” The school also gives back to our community, offering a calendar packed with public events, community service, blood drives, and some of Collierville’s hottest tickets, including the annual dinner roundtable – a meal and a show, right onstage! And yet, it’s the Culture Fest that perhaps best represents the Spirit of Collierville, hosting a snapshot of where we come from, who we are together, what we’re committed to, and what we hope to sustain moving forward.

Everyone is welcome. Everyone is seen. And every student has an opportunity to find their place here. 10

The annual event brings students, families, and Collierville together for food, a fashion show, and performances. But what it encourages is even more important: a space where students can represent themselves, their families, their cultures, and their countries – and where our community can ask questions, learn, and grow in understanding. “I want all of our students to feel safe, loved, and able to share their light throughout the school and our community, and for people to accept them for who they are,” Jones says. Collierville is a huge part of making all this possible. Business sponsors, school supporters, community partners, and parents all invest in the school and its students. The resulting teacher grants, student recognition, theater and athletics sponsorships, workforce connections, and hands-on career opportunities are just a few examples of what happens when a community comes together around its young people. “Any honor we receive, we all had a hand in it,” Principal Jones emphasizes. The elementary schools, middle schools, district, school board, superintendent, parents, sponsors, and broader Collierville community – we all help shape these students along the way. And in that sense, the Spirit of Collierville Award says something bigger than “job well done.” It says that CHS will continue to invest in our children – and that through them, we all will have a hand in shaping Collierville’s future.

Where Elegance meets Every Day Living For decades, our lives were rooted in service and community. Jan spent more than 33 years working for Shelby County Schools and was active with the Germantown Arts Alliance and the Germantown Charity Horse Show. Bill dedicated fifty years to the banking industry, opening several banks in the Germantown and Collierville areas, and served two terms as a Germantown alderman. Together, we’ve enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children and celebrating five grandchildren—some of whom are blessedly close by. As we looked toward the future, we wanted more than just a new place to live. We hoped to find a lifestyle that supported our whole well-being—physically, emotionally, and socially. Collierville Compounding Pharmacy Personalized Care for a Community That Values Thoughtful Service

e’ve all been there: frustrated because something in our healthcare plan isn’t quite working. A prescription that should be helping but isn’t. An ingredient we react to. A standard option that isn’t the right strength, the right delivery method, or the right formula. A promised solution that hasn’t solved a thing. You’ve been trying to figure it out on your own, but no luck. Now you’re discouraged, you’re tired, and you still really need to feel better. That’s where Collierville Compounding Pharmacy steps in. Because for them, healthcare is about so much more than filling a prescription. It’s connection. It’s understanding. And it’s deeply personal. Pharmacist J. Ryan Wooden explains, “Every day brings a new challenge in personalized medicine, and every prescription represents someone whose needs aren’t being fully met by standard options.”

In many ways, what makes that mission so meaningful is Collierville itself. Most of the team calls Collierville home, which means the people they serve are also their neighbors. That creates what Ryan describes as a “profound sense of responsibility.” The work they do is an act of caring for others with the best knowledge and tools available. And over time, that trust has helped shape the pharmacy’s place in our community.

It’s no surprise, then, that this award reflects the high standard of care that is expected and supported in Collierville – and that Collierville Compounding Pharmacy consistently delivers. Main Street Collierville

Promoting, Protecting, and Preserving the Town Square

n Collierville, it could be said that all roads lead to Main Street. The events. The history. The walking tour. The murals. The panels. They all serve the same purpose: bringing people here, showing off our town, and helping all of us thrive. That’s why being named the 2025 Non-Profit of the Year means so much. Executive Director Debbie Hale probably shouldn’t have been stunned, because Main Street Collierville does incredible work in our community, but she was. This recognition is a true honor that speaks volumes about the organization’s role in Collierville today. At its core, Main Street Collierville exists to promote, protect, and preserve the Town Square while simultaneously supporting local businesses and appealing to today’s tastes. That’s the delicate balance: creating fun, modern reasons for people to come to the Square, then connecting them to a history that resonates.

A strong economy helps create a thriving town, and that benefits all of us. Debbie Hale, Executive Director Main Street Collierville 16

And that’s where projects like the Washington Street mural restoration, the Grace’s Beauty Shop panels, and the Historical Walking Tour come in. They’re helping people understand what was here, who was here, and why it all matters. They’re telling the stories behind the places we pass every day, and making this slice of town feel even more distinctly Collierville. They’re giving all of us one more reason to come to the Square. This is a dynamic, vibrant work in progress. Additional walking tour stops are already in the works for 2026 and 2027, including Fire Station No. 1, the McGinnis gas station, and other historic sites around the Square. Lighting will soon be installed above the beauty shop panels. And more is in store. Events like the Summer Concert Series, Hop and Shop, The Chocolate Tour, and Scare on the Square are doing important work of their own. They introduce visitors to the Square who might not otherwise come – drawn by an event, but now much more likely to return. The Chocolate Tour alone has brought in visitors from around the South, while last year’s Summer Concert Series drew well over 15,000 people. And that, as Debbie puts it, is what it’s all about: economic vitality for Collierville. “A strong economy helps create a thriving town, and that benefits all of us.” But none of this happens alone. Main Street Collierville is powered by a committed volunteer board – “they deserve a lot of recognition, I’m so proud of them,” says Debbie – and is a true group effort. That’s important, because what makes Main Street Collierville especially unique is that it’s self-funded. Unlike other Main Streets around the U.S., ours is not operated under the Town, a tourism board, or the Chamber. Sponsorships, memberships, grants, and even merchandise sales all contribute. As a community, our support is not an extra; it’s what makes the work possible in the first place. “You all are the heart of Main Street,” Debbie adds. And that’s what this year’s award really honors: not just Main Street Collierville’s work, but also our community – one that continues to invest in the place in and at its heart.

2025 Small Business of the Year

Maroon Brew Co. On Tap: Community, Connection, and Collierville

tep into Maroon Brew Co., and the scene that greets you may not be the one you expected.

Toddlers are living it up in the play corner while their parents catch up over lunch. Older kids are in fierce competition over a board game. Professionals are enjoying a business lunch. Longtime friends are laughing over beers. This place feels familiar, even if it’s your first time through the door. This atmosphere is a big reason Maroon Brew Co. was named the 2025 Small Business of the Year by the Collierville Chamber of Commerce. The honor recognizes strong business performance, but more importantly, it reflects the role Maroon Brew Co. plays in the life of our town.

Designed as a Gathering Place

From the first ideas put to paper in her 2022 business plan, coowner Maggie Emerson intended the taproom to be a gathering place. She wanted to create somewhere welcoming, whether you’re 1 or 99. Collierville has responded in kind. Being chosen by fellow business owners made the award especially meaningful. “Everything we do here is centered on how we can give back to the community that has embraced us,” Maggie says. Recognition from her peers – the people building and investing in Collierville every day – confirmed that Maroon has truly found its place here. 20

That sense of belonging goes both ways. Instead of leaning heavily on traditional marketing, Maroon invests directly back into Collierville. If there’s a local team wearing maroon, they’ve likely supported it through sponsorships, fundraiser nights, or event donations. In spring 2026, Maroon will host its first 5K, with proceeds benefiting Leadership Collierville youth scholarships. Even inside the taproom, this spirit of giving shows up in small but meaningful ways. Loni’s Lemonade, created by Maggie’s daughter, gives back 50¢ from every pint sold to local nonprofits of her choice. It’s a simple but powerful reminder that generosity is woven into Maroon’s very culture. That culture is sustained by the Maroon crew. “They aren’t just team members. They’re family,” Maggie says. She supports them, and in return, they take extraordinary care of everyone who walks through the door. They remember names. They notice those kids playing in the corner. They make space at the table. That’s what keeps the room welcoming long after the first visit. Maroon Brew Co. may serve cold drinks, but it’s also pouring back into Collierville. And this year’s Small Business of the Year award reflects that.

2025 Collierville’s Person of the Year

Terry Dean Connecting to Community Through Service

hen Terry Dean moved to Collierville in 1997, she remembers standing in her living room wondering how she and her family would ever start over in a new town. That feeling didn’t last long. Soon after arriving, Terry met a young mother who stopped to say hello and introduce herself. That neighbor was Maureen Fraser, who years later would become Collierville’s mayor and surprise Terry with an award honoring her contributions to this community. Terry says that simple moment in 1997 was when Collierville began to feel like home. “I went from feeling like I didn’t know anyone to realizing how welcoming this community really is,” she recalls. Over the years, Terry helped create that same sense of connection for others while becoming deeply involved in the organizations that help shape Collierville’s civic life.

A Lifetime of Community Service

Her volunteer journey began with the PTA at Collierville Elementary, Middle, and High School as her daughters grew up in the school system. From there, her involvement expanded to organizations including Girl Scouts, the Collierville Soccer Association, Kiwanis, and Rotary. Terry also played a major role in Leadership Collierville, serving as director for ten years and helping cultivate future community leaders. Many graduates of the program have gone on to serve on nonprofit boards, civic commissions, and in local government. Another chapter of service evolved through the arts. After volunteering with the Collierville High School theatre program, Terry joined the Collierville Arts Council and eventually became its executive director, a role she held for 12 years. Through theatre and community programming, she created opportunities for people of all ages to perform, direct, choreograph, and participate in the arts. Ask Terry what makes Collierville’s volunteer culture unique, and she points to the way people support one another. “The same people you see running businesses, teaching in schools, or serving in local government are often the same people volunteering in nonprofits,” she says. “Everything and everyone are connected.”

That spirit of connection is why Terry was named the 2025 Person of the Year by the Collierville Chamber of Commerce. For Terry, the honor reflects the many people who give their time and talent to the town they love. “There are so many people in this community doing incredible work,” she says. “I’m just grateful to be one small part of it.” Collierville is grateful for it, too.

A NEW ERA OF FINANCIAL STRENGTH Southern Security Builds Stability and Innovation for Collierville’s Future

hen the Collierville Chamber hosts Business Over Breakfast at Southern Security Federal Credit Union’s new headquarters, it’s more than a networking event. It’s a glimpse into what this new space was built to do.

Yes, it’s the credit union’s home, but it was intentionally designed to serve Collierville. “For us and for the community, this space is meant to benefit not only Southern Security, but also our partners, local organizations, and the Town of Collierville,” says Dawn Graeter, CEO of Southern Security Federal Credit Union.

Through sponsorships, the credit union supports local schools, the Collierville Education Foundation, Leadership Collierville, Rotary, and many other organizations. But financial support is only part of the equation. “We’re not just writing checks,” Graeter says. “We’re showing up.”

Team members volunteer, participate in community events, and provide financial literacy training. Southern Security works directly with local companies to offer one-on-one financial counseling and affordable financial solutions for employees and their families. The focus is on meeting our community members where they are and helping everyone move forward confidently in their For us and for the financial journey.

From the beginning, the vision was different from that of a traditional corporate headquarters. Most aren’t places the public can use, but Southern Security wanted theirs to function as shared space. And it already is. In just the first few weeks since opening in December 2025, multiple organizations had already hosted meetings and events inside the building, with many more booked in the months ahead. Chamber events are now held there regularly. A new morning networking series will also call the headquarters home this year. This building doesn’t just represent growth, but also access for our entire community.

Inside the new headquarters, located at 819 Southern Home Road, Collierville community members, businesses, and organizations now have access to: • A downstairs multipurpose room that seats about 30 comfortably. Every table moves. Everything’s on wheels. The space can shift from training setup to luncheon to strategic planning session in minutes. Among other events, the space has already hosted a local real estate brokerage’s awards luncheon and a strategic planning session for the Alzheimer’s Association, which brought attendees in from across the country and generated meaningful economic impact across Collierville.

That’s the philosophy behind the new headquarters, too. Growth isn’t simply about square footage, but about providing opportunity and strengthening relationships.

A Place That Reflects Collierville’s Future

Southern Security’s new headquarters marks a new chapter for the organization. It reflects stability, innovation, and long-term commitment. But perhaps most importantly, it reflects Collierville’s collaborative spirit. By creating a space designed to be shared, Southern Security has reinforced its role not just as a financial institution, but as a community partner. And in Collierville, when one part of the community grows stronger, we all benefit.

• A dedicated podcasting area just outside the multipurpose room. Soon, the Earle Farrell 4 Memphis show will broadcast live from Southern Security each week, spotlighting both new and established businesses, giving smaller organizations an opportunity to share what they offer and expand their visibility. • An upstairs boardroom that seats 14 and includes convenient catering access for meetings and leadership gatherings. • A large breakroom and patio space above the drive-through lanes, capable of accommodating up to 150 guests. With indoor counters for food service and outdoor seating during favorable weather, it’s designed for receptions, celebrations, and larger community events. It’s a headquarters, certainly. But this is also a place where our community can gather, collaborate, and grow.

ook out across Collierville’s Town Square and it’s immediately clear that a perfect day here isn’t tied to one big event. It’s about the little things – the touchpoints that connect us, the everyday encounters, and the moments that end up being our best memories.

There are children running across the park while grandparents watch from a shaded bench. A photographer is carefully arranging a quinceañera dress for the perfect portrait. Someone’s rocking in an Adirondack chair while nearby tables are filling with friends sharing coffee and conversation. It’s easy to see why people say it feels like something out of a movie. Many historic downtown districts are built around a courthouse, but Collierville’s is built around a park. Town Square Park sits at the literal and emotional center of our community, surrounded by historic storefronts, restaurants, boutiques, museums, and landmarks that chronicle more than 150 years of Collierville’s story. A Layered Experience

Town Square and the adjacent historic district provide an authentic, layered experience. Within just a few blocks, you can experience a remarkable mix of attractions. Boutiques and specialty shops. Restaurants and cafés. Museums and historic landmarks. Explore the historic train depot, step inside the town’s restored executive railcar, or learn about the Civil War battle fought nearby in 1863. “You can have lunch, explore a museum, attend an event, shop local, and admire more than 150 years of architecture all within a few blocks,” Ashley says. If you haven’t visited the Square in a while, the new restaurants and shops may catch your attention. But according to Ashley, what stands out most is what hasn’t changed. “You’ll still see families enjoying the park, parents pushing strollers, and neighbors walking their dogs,” she says. “There’s something grounding about it.” In our rapidly changing world, it’s comforting to know the Square remains a place where time seems to move just a little more slowly. This familiarity is part of the magic.

Looking Ahead

Even with its deep roots in history, the Square continues to evolve. Future plans include new events, seasonal experiences, and creative ways to bring people together. “I’m excited about the ways we’ll continue activating the space,” Ashley says. “Town Square already feels like the heart of the community, and there’s still room to build on that momentum.” For Collierville residents, the future feels reassuringly familiar. A key part of the experience is the District’s carefully curated balance. Restaurants, shops, and services are chosen not only for what they offer individually, but for how they work together to create a welcoming environment. “The tenant mix is very intentional,” explains Kirsten Desiderio, Marketing Manager. “We’re focused on creating a blend of dining, retail, and everyday services that benefit both residents and our broader community.” The goal is a district that supports daily life while also creating opportunities for people to gather. A quick coffee run might turn into a lunch with friends. An errand might become an evening out. This balance between convenience and experience makes it feel more neighborhood than commercial center.

hen the expanded library opens its doors, Director Lisa Plath isn’t picturing just one moment, but many.

everyone who wants to take part. That moment will be a real reminder of why this expansion matters.

She sees parents and young children stepping into a space designed just for them – one that feels welcoming, imaginative, and a little magical. She sees teens walking into an area that’s modern, inviting, and truly their own. And she sees a packed summer reading celebration in the new event center, where, for the first time, everyone who wants to attend can, without worrying about capacity limits or being turned away. That’s when the project will really come to life.

That same space will also serve Collierville in other ways, hosting civic gatherings, Chamber events, business meetings, nonprofit fundraisers, workshops, and conferences. In that sense, the expansion reinforces the library’s role as a true community asset.

For Collierville, the library expansion is about much more than added square footage; it’s about making room for how our community already uses and values the library every day, while also preparing for what comes next.

Keeping Pace With Collierville

As Collierville continues to grow, the library is keeping pace. This long-awaited project reflects the reality that our library is an essential part of Collierville’s quality of life, right alongside strong schools, beautiful parks, and outstanding public safety services. A Shared Investment in the Future

Collierville set aside funds for this project over many years in anticipation of future expansion. But because construction costs have risen since those funds were first reserved, the remaining project costs will be covered through Town reserve funds, paired with a community effort – fundraising led by the Friends of the Library, whose goal is $4 million. This project has been planned for years. And when the doors open, the new spaces inside will serve us for many more years to come, reflecting exactly what Collierville has built: a community that continues to invest in learning, connection, and one another.

More Than Just Books

A library has always been more than just books, and Collierville’s is no exception. This expansion will strengthen the library’s role as a place where families, students, local organizations, and lifelong learners can gather, study, explore, and connect. Patrons will still find the core services they value, but on a larger scale, complete with expanded collections, upgraded technology, comfortable furnishings, and spaces designed for reading, collaboration, and everyday use. Families will discover an engaging children’s area that supports early literacy and sparks excitement about books and learning. Students will benefit from improved study spaces and better access to technology. Local organizations will have more room to meet, collaborate, and build stronger partnerships. In short, the expansion is designed to support the way Collierville lives, learns, and grows.

A New Space for the Community

One of the most significant additions is the new 300-person event center, which will allow the library to host programs and gatherings at a scale it simply hasn’t been able to accommodate before. Major author talks, expanded library programs, special performances, and summer events will not only finally have room, but plenty of room to grow, too. Instead of worrying about limited seating, the library will be able to welcome

Patrons checked out books, of course, but they also borrowed STEAM backpacks, accessed more than 2 million digital titles, and participated in a wide variety of programs. In all, the library hosted 680 programs with more than 25,000 attendees, along with special events such as an arts and crafts fair and a holiday market. Building a Blueprint for the Future Shaping A Vision for the Next 25 Years

What will Collierville BE in 2050? Not what uses will we have, or what will it look like, but what will it BE? 48

hat question landed in a room of 170 citizens and businessleaders at the April 2025 Monthly Collierville Chamber of Commerce meeting, deceptively simple in words, but enormous in implication. For many, it invoked equal parts excitement and apprehension. Change over a quarter century, left undirected, can feel overwhelming. But directed change, shaped by the people who live, work, and invest in a community, becomes something else entirely: opportunity.

Those words launched the 2050 Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Collierville, and the work that followed has been anything but ordinary.

More Than a Land Use Map

This group has met monthly to review survey results, discuss vision statements, and develop "Character Place Type" maps — a forward-thinking approach to future land use that goes beyond simply labeling an area "commercial" or "residential." Instead, Character Place Types describe the look, feel, and experience of a place, distinguishing, for example, between a walkable village center and a highway retail corridor.

A Comprehensive Plan is a guidance document that looks beyond future land use to consider transportation, utilities, economic development, preservation and recreation, growth management, and design — all within a single, unified framework. Think of it like a puzzle: the pieces must fit together to create a clear, definable picture. That picture will become the blueprint for Collierville's development for the next 25 years. For businesses and developers, this matters in a very direct way. A strong Comprehensive Plan gives investors, property owners, and companies considering Collierville a clear and predictable picture of what the Town expects — reducing uncertainty and creating the conditions for confident, quality investment. When the plan is followed by updates to the Zoning Ordinance and related regulations, it becomes an even more powerful tool: aligning the rules of development with the community's actual vision for its future.

Going Where the People Are

Between that spring meeting and the fall of 2025, the Town's Planning staff took a deliberately proactive approach to public engagement — and they didn't wait for people to come to them. They went to where the people were. At the popular Fair on the Square, a train-themed game invited residents to share their vision for transportation, housing, and businesses. At Movie Nights at Carriage Crossing, visitors placed dots on images that best represented the Collierville they wanted to see. Staff also gathered input at Thursday evening movie nights, high school football games, and local farmers markets — embedding themselves in the rhythms of community life rather than holding formal public hearings and hoping for attendance. Throughout these events, residents had the chance to do more than simply share ideas. They could also volunteer for consideration on the 25-member Steering Committee — appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to represent a wide cross-section of the community. The committee includes

Finding the Right Partner

It was clear from the outset that creating a Comprehensive Plan of this ambition required outside expertise. After a competitive national search, the Town selected Freese and Nichols (F&N), a planning and engineering consulting firm whose depth of experience, track record with comparable communities, and genuine understanding of what Collierville was seeking made them the clear choice. F&N hit the ground running. In December 2025, they hosted a dozen focus group meetings representing business owners, developers, landowners, the historic preservation commission, planning commission, elected officials, recreation enthusiasts, and even planners from adjacent communities. They met with the Steering Committee and held a large open house at the Linda Kerley Center to gather additional insight into what citizens envision for Collierville's next 25 years. The energy of those sessions — and the consistency of the themes that emerged — helped sharpen the direction the plan would take.

From Words to Illustrations

In May 2026, F&N hosted a three-day design charrette — an intensive, collaborative drawing session — to begin translating community ideas from words into pictures and maps. The charette tackled not just where things should go, but what they should look and feel like when new development arrives, or aging areas are reimagined to better serve the community. colliervillechamber.com 49

The result is a set of graphics and illustrations that give developers a concrete picture of the Town's expectations — what a redeveloped commercial corridor might look like, how a new neighborhood might relate to existing streets and green spaces, or what quality design means in a Collierville context. For potential residents, businesses, and corporations evaluating where to put down roots, these visuals offer a compelling preview of what Collierville is working toward.

Education, Collaboration, and What Comes Next

As the planning process continues, F&N will bring in speakers specializing in good design, historic preservation, quality development, and community collaboration. The goal is not just to inform the public about what is in the plan, but to build understanding of why — equipping residents and business leaders to become genuine champions of Collierville's future. Pop-up events will continue throughout the community, offering opportunities to review draft elements of the plan and provide feedback before it is finalized. The Town anticipates presenting the 2050 Comprehensive Plan to the Planning Commission and Board of Mayor and Aldermen in early 2027 — completing nearly two years of work. But adoption is not the finish line. Following the plan's approval, the Town intends to update its Zoning Ordinance and related regulations to align with the plan's goals and objectives, giving development clear and consistent guidance rooted in the community's own vision. The Answer Is Still Being Written — and It Belongs to You The question asked in that April meeting “What will Collierville BE in 2050?" doesn't have a single answer, and it shouldn't. The answer is still emerging from hundreds of conversations, dozens of engagement events, three days of intensive mapping, and the ongoing work of a community that cares deeply about its future.
