Navigating Flint & Genesee is a breeze. Located in the heart of Michigan, at the intersections of I-75, U.S. 23, and I-69, the Flint & Genesee area is not only full of fun places to explore but is easy to get to and even easier to find your way around once you arrive.

Flint is also home to Bishop International Airport, a small facility with a huge reach. Locals and visitors alike love the ease of flying in and out of Bishop, with its intimate scale, friendly staff, and convenient parking. Bishop offers nonstop flights to both major hubs and popular vacation destinations, including Orlando/Sanford, Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers, Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg, and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Phoenix, Arizona; and Charlotte, North Carolina. Genesee County is also home to three private airports.

GAINES COMMUNITY RODEO

Another long standing county tradition is the Gaines Community Rodeo. For over 20 years, the event in the Village of Gaines showcases family-friendly rodeo fun with barrel racing, bull riding, and more.

A Symphony of Sound and Spirit MUSIC & CULTURAL FESTIVALS

The Flint Jazz Festival, held each summer, provides a smooth escape into the world of jazz, whether you’re a new or seasoned enthusiast grooving to smooth, soulful sounds.

Flint and Genesee County’s inclusive spirit extends to its Pride Festivals, held annually in both Flint and Fenton, as well as nearby Holly, Ortonville, and Lapeer.

In addition to the Midwest Invitational Rodeo, Flint & Genesee celebrates sportsmanship and skill at the CANUSA Games, the longest-running amateur sports competition in North America and held in Flint every-other year. Young athletes from Flint compete against their peers from Hamilton, Ontario in a variety of sports, strengthening the bond between these two sister cities. Flint is also home to the HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races, a 10-mile race that sees runners from around the world.

Her victory in February 2025 secured the women’s heavyweight title, further cementing her legacy.

Flint is also proud home to Mark Ingram Jr., a graduate of Flint Southwestern High School who went on to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he won the Heisman Trophy. He later became a first-round NFL draft pick and played for the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans.
