02. Origamic Architecture

Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design

Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design from the University of Houston is a post-modernism building designed by Phillip Johnson, John Burgee, and the Morris and Aubrey firm. The stylistic influence is based by the unbuilt 18th- century project House of Education by French architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux—translated into a Texas-scaled architectural form for the college.

Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design Atrium

The Interior of the building at Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design central atrium atrium serves as the social and spatial heart of the campus, creating a light-filled gathering space that encourages visual connection, collaboration, and academic exchange. Its openness links studios, circulation paths, and shared spaces, fostering interaction while bringing natural light deep into the building and supporting everyday student life, critiques, and exhibitions.
