In May 2014 I unexpectedly made two trips in quick succession.
I had long planned a road trip to Marvão an area in east Alentejo, Portugal, right on the spanish border, opposite to Lisbon where I live. At the time I did not know that I would be going to London the following week.
Then that unexpected trip to London happened.
Whilst walking through the city and as I began to photograph, I felt my eyes drawn not only to the constant organized chaos but also at unexpected similarities between London and the placid, sun-drenched village where I had been a week before.
A world capital, a metropolis with no time to stop and a rural hilly region of Portugal, under scorching summer heat where time seems to pace ever so slightly slower.
The result is this set of images that enjoy a dialog throughout the pages of this book never intending to enforce any direct correlations.
