WROXHAM FOOTBALL CLUB HAS A PROUD HERITAGE

STRETCHING BACK OVER 130 YEARS TO 1892 INCLUDING A HISTORIC WEMBLEY APPEARANCE IN THE 2010 FA VASE FINAL. WE HAVE THREE SENIOR MEN’S TEAMS, A WOMEN’S TEAM AND 18 YOUTH TEAMS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS FROM UNDER 5 UP TO UNDER 19. AROUND 350 PLAYERS WILL REPRESENT THE CLUB THIS SEASON.

Away from football, the Club is also used for events and functions, from corporate training to private parties, comedy nights to fireworks displays, we expect to welcome over 30,000 visitors to The Ginger Pickle Arena in the next year.

Our ‘Welcome to Wroxham’ documentary, which playfully lent on the Disney+ Welcome to Wrexham series, and the fact that we were only one

vowel away from Hollywood investment has seen us catapulted to national and international fame. BBC Breakfast featured us in an extended weekend segment, ESPN visited and filmed an extensive piece for its sports channel and there were multiple appearances in national papers including the Daily Star, Daily Mirror UK and USA. Over 1 million people watched the documentary on TikTok.

Most households and businesses are paying more than they need to for their utilities — often without knowing it. I compare, switch, and save, all in around f ive minutes.

WE ARE ENTIRELY VOLUNTEER RUN AND EVERY PENNY WE EARN IS PUT BACK INTO THE CLUB

Unlike many non-league clubs, Wroxham isn’t owned by a wealthy owner who bankrolls the Club. We are entirely volunteer run and every penny we earn is put back into the Club to help develop and grow it. A recent Football Association social impact survey of Wroxham FC calculated the Club’s impact on the community to be worth £1m.

This brochure will outline more about the Club and how you can help. There are several ways in which you can including:

• Becoming a commercial partner

• Attending a match or fundraising event (e.g. Fireworks night)

OUR MEN’S FIRST TEAM PLAY IN THE ISTHMIAN LEAGUE NORTH,

which is step 4 of the non-league football pyramid. Led by our wonderful manager Jordan Southgate, and his excellent management team, we narrowly missed out on the play offs on the last day of the season. This year we hope to go one better and make the play offs in what will be our fifth season at this level.

Our Reserve team are led by Oscar Brewer and play in the Thurlow Nunn League North – step 6 of nonleague – and finished in the playoff positions last season. This was a fantastic achievement, given it was their first season at this level, having won promotion the previous year. The most pleasing aspect was that seven

of the squad got to represent the first team during the season, showing the progression we have within the Club.

25/26 saw us field a development team, for the first time, in the Anglian Combination. Callum Lindsay’s young team, comprising mostly U19 players, finished fifth in their debut season and hope to improve on that this season and achieve promotion.

Our U18 team won the Thurlow Nunn Youth League last season and will be looking to retain that this season! Led by Nick Custance and Karl Fox, several of the team have gone on to play for the Reserve team too.

Not only is there a clear pathway and progression within the Club, but we also have a track record of players progressing from the Club to higher levels. Joe Taylor is our most famous recent alumni with his 21 goals earning him a move to Peterborough United and then on to Luton Town where he scored in the penalty shoot-out at Wembley

which won them promotion to the Premier League. He currently plays for League 1 Huddersfield Town.

Another alumnus, Sonny Carey, plays for Charlton Athletic in the Championship

and we’ve seen the likes of Ryan Miles and Joao Rangel secure moves to step 3, with Joao also gaining international honours, being called up for the Asian Cup for Timor-Leste.

OUR WOMEN’S TEAM PLAYS AT STEP FIVE OF THE WOMEN’S GAME

WITH LAST SEASON BEING THEIR MOST SUCCESSFUL SO FAR. THEY FINISHED THIRD IN THEIR LEAGUE, HAVING SAT IN SECOND SPOT UNTIL 40 MINUTES FROM TIME ON THE LAST DAY OF THE LEAGUE SEASON. ONLY NORWICH CITY WOMEN OPERATE HIGHER THAN OUR WOMEN’S TEAM, WHO REGULARLY COMPETE WITH

other professional teams in both the League and the Women’s FA Cup. Luton Town, Stevenage, Peterborough United and Northampton Town have all visited in recent seasons with the team also taking on York City and Leyton Orient in the WFA Cup, with the Yachtswomen knocking out League 1 Orient at Brisbane Road. The team made it to the second round of the Women’s FA Cup this year, won the Harrod Sport Norfolk FA Women’s Cup at Carrow Road last month and made

the final of the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Cup Plate last season.

With half the team being U19, it’s a very exciting young team which will only get better. This season they hope to be challenging for promotion and continuing their success in the Cups. We also welcome an U16s girls side to the Club this season and hope that we will add a development team in 2027/28.

OUR YOUTH SET UP IS LED BY SECRETARY LISA HAMILTON

YOUTH LEAD ANDREW THOMSON-CAWTE. LISA HAS EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE OF CLUB WELFARE AND YOUTH ADMINISTRATION WHICH HAS ALSO INCLUDED SERVING ON LEAGUE COMMITTEES. ANDREW’S COACHING CAREER HAS SEEN HIM WORK AT BAYERN MUNICH AND BURNLEY SO WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE HIM AT WROXHAM.

Under Lisa and Andrew we have several excellent coaches leading individual age group teams with coaching taking place during the week on 3G pitches at Aylsham and Brundall with games being played at Aylsham and Hoveton.

This season we have teams at the following age groups: • Mini Kickers (U5 and U6)

Each team has weekly training and matches with monthly subs covering the cost of pitch hire for these as well as costs including FA and League registration fees, insurance, balls and equipment, coaching qualifications etc.

Ground works

On Monday and Friday mornings we have a lovely team of volunteers who come in to clear up from the weekend’s games and prepare for the follow weekend. There is always maintenance and work to do to keep our ground and clubhouse looking its best and we’d welcome anyone interested in joining our team to help with this.

Matchdays

Help on matchdays is always welcome – whether it is helping supporters with parking, serving in the bar, food preparation in the kitchen, selling programmes or 50/50 tickets or entertaining our guests for the game, there’s plenty of opportunity. While regular help is welcomed, casual volunteers are great too so don’t feel you have to commit to every week.

Volunteering days

Does your employer offer days off for volunteering? If so, could you and/or your team consider helping us? There are always jobs to be done around the ground whether that’s fences to be painted, repairs to the stadium or sprucing up the Club shop, there’s plenty we can offer you or your team for the day.

Legacies

We’re always very grateful when people choose to leave a legacy to the Club in their will. If this is something you’d like to do, then we’re open to having discussions if there are specific areas you’d like your legacy to support. Please contact James Blower to discuss further.

Loans for grants

The Club can access grants from the Premier League Stadium Fund to improve the facilities it offers. This is something we’d love to do but the grants only cover 70% and sometimes only 50% of the funds needed. The Club is moving

from an unincorporated members association to a company limited by guarantee (LBG) which is not an entity that mainstream lenders typically lend to and not without trading history.

If there are individuals who’d be prepared to loan the Club money, secured with a first charge on the Clubhouse or over its assets, we’d love to hear. It’s something we’d be happy to pay a commercial interest rate on to access these grants, which will both strengthen our facilities and our balance sheet.
