WELCOME
SET IN THE VILLAGE OF WESTFIELD.
Based in East Sussex, Westfield Football Club has been at the heart of the local community since it was formed in 1911.
Fast-forward to 2026/2027.
We have a First team, Reserves team, Thirds, U23s, U18s and a Ladies team. We also have a thriving youth section that boasts a whopping 12 youth teams.
HISTORY
Westfield Football Club joined Division Two of the East Sussex League in 1971 and finished as runners-up the following season.
After being promoted to Division One for the 1973/74 campaign, Westfield won a famous league and cup double, which they then repeated during the 1977/78 season.
13 years later, though, the club found itself back in Division Two following relegation.
For the 1997/98 season, the club was admitted to the Sussex County League Division Three, and the following year they finished fourth and were promoted to the second tier.
A few years later, in the 2002/03 season, Westfield reached the final of the Division Two Challenge Cup and finished sixth in the league standings.
During the 2006/07 season, Westfield finished third in the table, but were denied promotion to Division One as a result of not having floodlights.
In the summer of 2022, Premier League defender Steve Cook became the majority owner of Westfield Football Club. The Nottingham Forest star, who was born in nearby Hastings, shares the same vision for the club as everyone else here, and we are looking forward to a successful partnership.
Chairman Jack Stapley was pleased with Steve’s decision, and is confident that his arrival will bring success.
“I’ve known Steve for a long time, and this has been the result of months of talks.
It’s a fantastic time to be involved with this football club as we now have six adult teams and eight youth sides. We also have a new ground in the works, which brings with it the chance to lift the club to a new level. Steve matches the ambition of everyone here at the club, and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Former Bournemouth centre-back Steve also revealed how pleased he was.
“I’m delighted to get this over the line,” he said.
“The opportunity came up and as I’m close to the family, the idea fitted with my current ambitions and plans.
I’m looking forward to helping progress local football, and I’m hopeful of adding to this great club and helping to take it to the next level.”

BACKROOM STAFF
YOUTH
We are proud to boast a thriving youth section consisting of a number of teams at different age groups, ranging from under-7s all the way through to our under-18s.
All teams under the age of 11 play non-competitive football, meaning that no results or league tables are published. This allows the youngsters to enjoy the game in a more relaxed environment, under the watchful eye of all our FA qualified coaches before they are thrown into the world of competitive sport!
Last season, our under-13s did really well to win the league with two games to spare, There really are some bright sparks with high hopes for the future of this team progressing all the way through the club to the first team.
At under-18 level, our team is comprised primarily of 16-year-olds,all of whom battled bravely during what is a challenging season. The experience has been invaluable, though, and it will put them in good stead for next season and beyond in adult football.
KNIGHT & DAVEY COMMUNITY STADIUM
It’s taken years of waiting, and more importantly so much hard work and persistence from countless current and former committee members. But Westfield FC have finally moved into their new home ground.
Westfield finally hosted their first game in the new Knight & Davey Community Stadium on the 27th of January 2024 against a strong Rotherfield side , the game ending 1-0 after a late goal from young Rooney Rui.
Since then, we have continued to build on and off the pitch , with the 23-24 out the way , the drive could commence , with aspirations to compete at the senior county football level, our newly developed ground is shaping up to provide the perfect stage for our bold ambitions. The recent upgrades have transformed our facilities, ensuring players and supporters alike enjoy the best experience possible.
We have a new 50-seater stand, designed for maximum comfort and visibility, offers an ideal vantage point to cheer on the Westies . As of November 2024 , planning permission for floodlights at the ground was put in , with a decision imminent , this would propel the club into new adventures , we would be able to offer football for all ages every day of the week , and even throughout the winter months.
KNIGHT & DAVEY COMMUNITY STADIUM
In addition to hosting our first team and reserves, Sundays are actionpacked with our veteran teams and U18s showcasing their skills, ensuring that football thrives throughout the weekend. The commitment and passion of our players, both young and seasoned, are a testament to the club’s dedication to developing talent and fostering a love for the game in the community.
To add to the matchday experience, we now have a regular burger van that serves up delicious treats, perfect for fuelling up between matches. And don’t forget to check out our bar, where you can grab a refreshing drink while catching up
with fellow supporters. The newly installed PA system keeps everyone informed with live match updates, making it easy to stay engaged with the action on the pitch.
Westfield is also proud to host various charity matches throughout the year. These events not only help build bonds within the community but also raise vital funds for local causes. We believe in the power of football
to make a difference, and we’re thrilled to contribute positively to our surroundings.

THE GRAEME KEMPSTER END
We are proud to announce the official opening of our new stand behind the goal, named in honour of our phoenix, Graeme Kempster, who we so tragically lost. Kindly sponsored by GB Carpentry, Gavin Bourne , this stand represents more than just a structure — it represents a legacy.
Graeme was a player who embodied everything Westfield stands for, having come through the club from youth level right through to the first team. His dedication on and off the pitch left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Throughout this journey — from moving grounds to every weekend we step onto the pitch — Graeme’s parents, Angela and Mick, have been a constant in our thoughts and hearts.
As a club, this is the very least we could do to honour Graeme’s memory, and we hope this stand will stand the test of time as we continue to grow into senior football.
THE GRAHAM DRINKWATER STAND
The opening of our brand new 50-seater stand,the Graham Drinkwater Stand was officially opened on the 31st August in front of a bumper crowd , the new stand located at the Knight and Davey Community Stadium This stand is not just a fantastic addition to our facilities but also a tribute to our club legend, Graham Drinkwater, whose dedication and passion for Westfield FC have inspired us all.
The stand features striking yellow and green seats, symbolizing our proud club colours. Even more impressively, every seat has been sponsored by local companies and organizations, showcasing the incredible support we receive from our community.
A big shoutout to Gavin Bourne from GB Carpentry, our main sponsor for the new seating , whose generous contribution has played a pivotal role in making this project a reality. Thank you, Gavin, and to all our sponsors for believing in our vision!

STATEMENT FROM THE OWNERS
We are thrilled to announce that, after 113 years of history, Westfield Football Club has been granted planning permission to install floodlights at our new ground “The Knight & Davey Community Stadium”. This marks a monumental milestone for our club and our community, paving the way for a new era of growth and opportunity not just on the pitch but also off it.
The installation of floodlights is more than just an upgrade to our facilities— it’s a symbol of our club’s evolution and ambition. For over a century, Westfield has been a cornerstone of the community, and now, with this development, we can extend our reach and impact even further.
This achievement will allow us to host evening matches, expand our reach to the youth in the community and welcome even more members of the village and surrounding areas to our ground. From our senior teams to our youth squads, and from our
supporters to local schools and community groups, everyone stands to benefit from this long-awaited improvement.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this possible: our loyal supporters, dedicated volunteers, Past and present committee members, players, The Parish Council, Jack Coleman of studio on sea, who without none of this would have been possible as he guided us through every step of application process and his dedication and expertise of work shone through, last but not least the wider community who have stood by us and provided valuable feedback, Help and passion. This has been instrumental in helping us achieve this historic milestone.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to maintaining the values that have defined Westfield Football Club and the village for over a century. The floodlights are just the beginning of our vision to ensure that Westfield
as a whole continues to thrive for generations to come.
Thank you for your unwavering support. Whilst this is an amazing step forward we now have to purchase said floodlights, an application has gone into the Football Foundation and we’re very optimistic this will lead to a substantial amount of the cost being covered but we still require everyone’s backing, so please turn up to games, enjoy the bar and food outlet, support our fund raising events and let’s make this a facility that everyone can be proud of.
