the first 150
founded in 1876, stafford rangers football club is one of the oldest clubs in english football, with roots stretching back nearly 150 years. for generations the club has been part of the fabric of the town, bringing people together on matchdays, creating memories for families and providing a platform for local talent and ambition.
stafford rangers have called marston road home since 1896, now proudly known as the stan robinson stadium. as a club owned venue, the stadium combines heritage with independence while offering modern facilities including hospitality areas, function rooms and versatile event spaces used throughout the year. it remains a place where the stafford community gathers and looks ahead together.
across its long history, stafford rangers has earned a reputation as a true non-league giant. fa trophy victories in 1972 and 1979, alongside three memorable trips to Wembley, stand as defining moments that continue to inspire the club’s ambition today.

experience, helping to guide that progress. their focus is clear, to build a sustainable future for stafford rangers. one based on reinvestment, transparency and doing things the right way. there is no intention of personal financial gain, with all surplus directed back into the club to support its long-term development.their involvement is about more than investment. the pathway
at stafford rangers, player development is built on the same foundations as the club itself: opportunity, ambition and progression. our pathway is designed to nurture local talent, provide inclusive high quality football experiences at every age, and create a clear and aspirational route from grassroots participation through to senior football, reinforcing the club’s long term sporting and community vision.
the Junior section currently comprises 33 teams, reflecting both the scale of our programme and our commitment to inclusive access to the game. twenty-four (24) teams compete across the various leagues of the mid staffs Junior League, delivering structured, competitive football within a strong community environment that engages families, supporters and local partners week in, week out, generating regular matchday activity and consistent local visibility.

the nickname of stafford rangers fc is ‘the Boro.’ nobody quite knows why, but it is assumed that when we were formed 150 years ago, we regarded ourselves as representing the whole of the Borough of stafford.
We have always believed we are ‘more than just a football club’ but in 2022 we formed stafford rangers in the community, a
registered charity, to help to turn that belief into a reality! (the charity operates entirely independently of the football club).
the charity aims to promote participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of peoples mental and physical health, by providing facilities for playing football and other sports and providing facilities for sport, recreation and other leisure time occupation for people

who need them because of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or other social and economic circumstances.
stripped of the legal jargon it means we aim to get people of all ages, from all backgrounds, at all levels of ability to play sport for the benefit of their health and to participate in leisure time pursuits to improve their quality of life.
We have made a start by delivering free summer sports camps and warms spaces programmes in the winter, but we want to do much more.
our vision will be delivered primarily through the installation of a 3G pitch at marston road, which will enable the footballing side of the charities work to really take off, and the employment of a full-time community engagement officer.
