While Risborough Rangers Football Club (RRFC) is currently entering an ambitious new era, our story is built upon decades of hard work and a deep-rooted passion for the game. The club began in 1970 as a single team of 12-year-olds eager for competitive football. Driven by the vision of Life Presidents Tony Elsey and Derek Wallace, the club quickly became a cornerstone of local sport. Derek was instrumental in forming the Wycombe Star League, which continues to provide football for hundreds of youngsters today— including many of our own youth teams.

By the mid-1970s, the club expanded into adult football. Though the initial men’s team was short-lived, the club’s youth ranks remained prolific. In the 1980s, the senior section was firmly reestablished, moving to our current home at the Windsor Playing

Fields—the former ground of the defunct Princes Risborough Town FC. Through the tireless efforts of our members, the ground was transformed, and our clubhouse was built, providing the club with a permanent identity.

GROWTH AND RESILIENCE

CLUB STORY A FOUNDATION OF COMMUNITY AND DEDICATION

The 1990s and 2000s were periods of significant growth and occasional challenge. From joining the South Midlands League in 1989 to achieving promotion to the Senior Division in 1994, RRFC established itself as a competitive force. This era saw the first tenure of manager Bob Rayner, who implemented a robust youth policy that bridged the gap between junior and senior football.

Following a brief period of struggle and relegation, Bob Rayner returned in 2005 to rebuild the

side using talent from the Rangers’ junior ranks. This patience was rewarded during the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons, which saw the club reach its first cup finals in decades and secure a league runner-up spot. By 2016, the club finally secured silverware with the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup.

THE MODERN ERA

In recent years, the club has navigated the complexities of the non-league system with ambition. Under the management of Mark Eaton, appointed in 2018, the club underwent a remarkable transformation—rising from the bottom of the table to winning the Spartan South Midlands League Division One Cup in 2019.

Despite the interruptions of the pandemic, the 2021/22 season saw Rangers promoted to Step 5. While we narrowly missed out on further promotion due to groundgrading requirements, the period demonstrated our potential to compete at the highest levels

of non-professional football. Following a period of managerial transition and a hard-fought battle to maintain our place in Step 5 in 2024, we appointed Gary Meakin to lead the first team into the 2025/26 season back in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

THE LEGACY OF OUR LEADERS

The 2024/25 season was marked by profound sadness as we mourned the loss of three club stalwarts: Colyn Makepeace, Peter Boland, and our longstanding Chairman, Richard Woodward. Richard’s dedication to RRFC was unparalleled, and his passing served as a catalyst for the club to finally realise his longterm ambition: the unification of the club.

Welcome to our Preschool, where children aged 2 – 4 years old begin their journey of discovery in a warm, nurturing, and joyful environment! Little Griffins is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence through hands-on activities, playful exploration and meaningful social experiences. With caring, experienced teachers and a focus on early learning foundations, we help children grow academically, socially, andemotionally — one happy day at a time. Join us as we learn, laugh, and grow together!

Little Griffins Pre-School is proud to be part of Griffin House Preparatory School and to be able to access the wonderful grounds and facilities. We are also fortunate to have our own separate building and outside spaces that have been created especially for the youngest members of our school community. Providing a safe, welcoming and calm environment in which the children can feel relaxed and comfortable from the start ensures that every child can learn, develop and make excellent progress as they begin their journey towards full time education.

Our beautiful grounds enable us to provide quiet calm outdoor spaces as well as larger spaces where the children can climb, run and practise their physical, social and conversation skills with their friends. During our weekly walk, we access the main school grounds when we walk together, chat and notice changes in the natural world. The Apple Garden, though, is used solely by Little Griffins and is a very special place where we enjoy outdoor learning, mud, growing plants and being together.

We hope you will come to see for yourself our beautiful facilities and spacious grounds, just waiting to be explored! We would welcome the opportunity to introduce you to our wonderful staff and children.

Today, RRFC is a proud member of Risborough Sports Group C.I.C, a Community Interest Company. This means we operate with total transparency; every penny generated is reinvested directly into the club’s growth and community initiatives. Our new Executive Committee is dedicated to professionalising operations and ensuring a sustainable future for our players, volunteers, and supporters.

At the start of the 2025/26 season, we achieved the historic goal of merging the Senior and Junior sections into ‘One Club.’ By breaking down old barriers, we have created a unified pathway for players of all ages and a stronger support network for the entire town.

We are more than just a football club; we are a community hub. Through community match days, local business partnerships, and a commitment to inclusivity, we are ensuring that Risborough Rangers remains at the heart of the town for the next 50 years and beyond.

With a clear focus on development and a collective drive for success, our sights are set firmly on promotion and advancing into the higher tiers of the nonleague pyramid. Our goal is to test ourselves at Step 4 and beyond, ensuring that Risborough Rangers continues its upward trajectory in the regional and national game.

While we strive for excellence at the senior level, the lifeblood of our ‘One Club’ vision lies in our thriving Youth Section. We are dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable, and supportive environment where young players can develop their skills, build friendships, and foster a lifelong love for the game.

OUR FOOTBALL PATHWAYS

• Junior Teams: We offer a comprehensive structure for youth development, fielding teams from from Minis all the way through to Under-18s (U18).

• Dedicated Girls’ Teams: Championing the continued growth of women’s football, we proudly run specific girls’ teams, ensuring a welcoming space for young female players to flourish.

• Under-18 Allied Counties: For older players looking to continue their development and bridge the gap into

adult football, our U18 squad provides a competitive environment and a direct pathway toward the First Team.

• Comets Pan-Disability Team: We firmly believe that football is for everyone. In partnership with other local clubs, we proudly co-host the Comets, an inclusive programme designed to provide pan-disability football opportunities within our community.
