Harpenden Town Football Club is a proud semi-professional club with a rich history spanning more than 130 years. Across all our teams, we strive to compete at the highest levels of football, reflecting our commitment to excellence both on and off the pitch.

We take great pride in being one of the most professionally run semi-professional clubs in the region. While honouring our remarkable legacy, we continue to build a club and community that the town of Harpenden can truly be proud of.
Every player who pulls on the Green & Gold shirt does so with pride — embodying the passion, dedication and togetherness that define this great game. We invite you to join us on an exciting journey as we continue
to make history and push the club to even greater heights.
Together, we are growing and developing — on and off the pitch.
As more residents of Harpenden connect with HTFC than ever before, we remain committed to becoming an integral part of the town’s identity, captured in our motto: #OneTeamOneTown

before becoming Harpenden Town Football Club in 1908, reflecting its growing role within the local community.

The club initially competed in the Mid-Herts and Herts County Leagues, enjoying notable success and winning the Mid-Herts League on multiple occasions. In 1957, HTFC joined the South Midlands League, where further success followed — including Premier Division titles in 1962 and 1965, and cup victories in 1968 with wins in both the Herts Charity Shield and South Midlands League Shield. Significant development arrived during the 1990–91 season with the construction of the Centenary

Stand and installation of floodlights. The club entered the FA Cup in 1998 and has since become a regular and competitive presence in the FA Vase. Following a challenging period in the early 2000s, a new committee took charge ahead of the 2006/07 season, placing strong emphasis on governance, sustainability and community engagement. One of their first major achievements was securing FA Charter Standard Accreditation, establishing strong foundations for the club’s future.

A defining moment came with the strengthening of ties between HTFC and Harpenden Colts, creating a clear development pathway for local players from Under-7s through to senior football.
This community-first approach delivered swift recognition, with HTFC named Herts FA Charter Standard Club of the Year. Initiatives included anti-racism events, adult seven-aside competitions, free coaching for schools and junior teams, and the continued growth of women’s football. In 2015, the club secured £100,000 in funding to refurbish facilities, significantly enhancing the matchday experience and the club’s local impact.
Under manager Danny Plumb, HTFC gained promotion to the Premier Division in 2016/17, followed by a third-place finish and a League Cup victory the following season.
In more recent years, the club has consolidated its position in the Spartan South Midlands Premier League. During the club’s 130th anniversary year in 2021, energyefficient LED floodlights were installed, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
A major milestone was achieved in 2023 with the installation of an artificial grass playing

surface, supported by funding from the Football Foundation and partnerships with Harpenden Town Council and Harpenden Colts. This transformation has made the ground a true community hub, welcoming new users, supporters and events year-round.
The 2023/24 season underlined the club’s upward trajectory, with both men’s and women’s first teams achieving their highestever league finishes.
The 2025/26 season has once again seen Harpenden Town FC make history. Across the club, every team has continued to progress, with success driven by a strong development pathway that continues to produce outstanding new talent. This season, a number of men’s and women’s players have progressed through the club and gone on to compete at a high level wearing the Green & Gold shirt — clear evidence of the strength and ambition of our football programme.
The Men’s First Team added another historic chapter by reaching the final 32 of the FA Vase, a remarkable achievement and one of the standout moments in the club’s history. The occasion was matched off the pitch, as the club delivered an exceptional matchday experience and welcomed the second-largest crowd ever recorded at Harpenden Town FC. Together, these moments reflect a club moving forward — developing players,

creating memories, and continuing to raise standards on and off the pitch.
At HTFC, our ethos is simple but powerful: “Support Local.”
We are committed to inclusivity, community pride, and providing teams that represent the very best of Harpenden — on the pitch, in the stands and across the town.

On any matchday at Harpenden Town FC, long before the first whistle and long after the final one, a familiar group is already hard at work. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of HTFC.
Many of them once pulled on the Green & Gold themselves — former players who now give their time, energy and experience to the club they love. They’ve swapped boots for bibs, touchlines and toolkits, but their commitment has never changed.

They welcome supporters, run the bar, arrange games, manage all the FA paper work, fix what needs fixing and step in wherever they’re needed — often without recognition and always without complaint. They are the people who ensure the club and matchdays run smoothly, training sessions happen, and the club continues to move forward week after week.
More than anything, they carry the values of Harpenden Town FC. They understand what

it means to represent the club, because they’ve lived it. Their knowledge, pride and loyalty form the backbone of HTFC, linking generations of players and supporters together. Without our volunteers, there is no matchday. There is no pathway. There is no club as we know it.
They are proof that Harpenden Town FC is more than a football team — it’s a community. And for that, we owe them everything

Harpenden Town FC is focused on strengthening partnerships with local businesses, enhancing off-pitch facilities, and continuing to raise standards across all teams. With strong foundations, growing support and clear ambition, we are determined to ensure HTFC remains a thriving, community-focused football club for generations to come.

It is a genuine privilege to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading the First Team at Harpenden Town FC. To be considered fit for this role is something I take immense pride in, and I am truly grateful for the trust placed in me by the club.
One of the most encouraging and rewarding sights on a Saturday afternoon has been seeing

crowds consistently reaching three figures, particularly during our FA Cup and FA Vase runs. The backing we receive week in, week out creates an atmosphere that embodies everything this club stands for and gives the players something truly special to perform in front of. With a new Chairman bringing fresh ideas and clear direction, Harpenden Town FC is entering an exciting new chapter. I am proud to be part of this journey and hopeful that I can play my part in delivering further
success to what is already a great football club. A new era of ownership has opened up many opportunities, and everything points towards the club moving in one direction — upwards.
A strong connection across all age groups within Harpenden Town FC is vital for the club’s long-term sustainability. Creating an environment where our young players grow up seeing the First Team as both realistic and aspirational is hugely important. We share the same ambition throughout the club, and since

taking on this role we have already made a little bit of history by surpassing the club’s previous FA Vase record — a record that had only been set the season before. I have been fortunate to inherit a solid foundation from a squad perspective and to add new faces that I believe only strengthen us further. This includes talented young players from our U18s and Development Team, such as George Wilde, who represent the future of Harpenden Town Football Club. Our footballing philosophy is built around confidence, togetherness, and a clear understanding of how we want the game to be played. We are flexible in our approach, breaking down formations and adapting them to best suit the style we wish to impose on the opposition. It is vital that every player understands what is required in each third of the pitch — what is needed, what is wanted, and how each area connects to the next. We encourage creativity through structured patterns of play, allowing players the freedom to express themselves while maintaining discipline and balance. In the defensive third, commitment and responsibility are nonnegotiable, while progression from back to front is achieved by identifying and targeting areas, we believe we can exploit. In the final third, we want purpose and flair — crosses into the box, players taking ownership, and individuals willing to make the difference when

it matters most. By continually reviewing and acting on areas for improvement, we aim to enhance the flow of the team and ensure our style remains progressive, effective, and aligned with the ambitions of this football club. Alongside this, a strong team ethos is at the heart of everything we do. It is essential that the players fully believe in what we are building and take pride in the identity we are creating
at Harpenden Town FC. Through our coaches, we continue to develop a clear playing style that emphasises learning, intelligence, and responsibility — playing off limited touches, moving the ball quickly, and understanding when to take control of moments within the game. Defending is a collective responsibility, not simply the role of defenders. Every player has a part to play both with and without the ball, and that togetherness strengthens our identity on the pitch. By creating an environment where players grow, learn, and buy into a shared vision, we are laying the foundations for a team and a culture that truly represents this football club. While there are still areas where we can continue to grow and improve, the backing of the club and the strong ethos that Harpenden Town FC is built upon gives us enormous desire and commitment to achieving our goals. I thank everyone who has believed in me and supported me in helping to push this club forward — it is a challenge I have embraced

wholeheartedly. This is a football club with huge potential to reach new heights. My sincere thanks go to the committee members and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain the high standards upon which this club is built. Thank you also to our bar and kitchen staff, who always greet everyone with a smile and still find time for a chat, even during the busiest moments. I am incredibly grateful to my management team, who have trusted me and chosen to be part of a journey

I truly believe can become something special. Thank you to the squad of players who place their trust in me to lead them into battle every Saturday and Tuesday night, always with the shared aim of securing three points. I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors and partners who continue to support Harpenden Town FC. Your backing plays a vital role in everything we do, on and off the pitch, and your commitment helps us build a sustainable and ambitious future for the
club. Lastly, and most importantly, thank you to you — the supporters. Your commitment of time, energy and money, supporting the club regardless of the weather or circumstances, creates the atmosphere in which this football club can truly thrive. I hope we can continue to repay that loyalty by providing moments and memories that last a lifetime. The future belongs to those who prepare for it — and Harpenden Town FC has every chance of being a truly memorable one.

Harpenden Town Women FC are on the rise
— and the momentum is unmistakable. A standout 2024/25 campaign saw the team

crowned league champions and promoted, earning their place in Tier 5 of the Women’s Football Pyramid and a seat at the table in the Women’s Eastern Region Premier Division. It’s a significant step forward — and a clear reflection of a club building real momentum in the women’s game.
Two promotions in three seasons tells its own story. Harpenden Town Women’s rapid ascent underlines the standards being set
behind the scenes and the belief running through the squad. Now competing at Tier 5, the team sits just two promotions away from the FA Women’s Super League (WSL) — the very top of women’s football in England. Led by Jordan Williams, Harpenden have shown they don’t just climb divisions — they adapt, compete and improve with every step up.
Promotion is one challenge. Establishing yourself at a higher level is another entirely.
This season has been about exactly that — stepping into a demanding league filled with strong, experienced opposition and proving Harpenden Town Women can match the intensity week after week. As the campaign moves towards its conclusion, the team is closing in on securing Tier 5 status for another season, a major achievement in itself and a vital platform for future progress.
Retention at this level isn’t simply survival — it’s a statement. Harpenden Town Women are here to stay.
Building Something Sustainable
Harpenden Town FC has a proud history within Hertfordshire football, and the women’s side is fast becoming one of the club’s most exciting success stories.
Driven by ambition, player development and a highly competitive culture, the programme continues to grow year on year. The current squad blends energy, quality and togetherness — a group that has already delivered silverware and promotion, and is now shaping the next chapter in a tougher division.

The leap into Tier 5 is only the beginning.
With league champions medals secured in 2024/25 and another season at this level within touching distance, Harpenden Town Women are positioning themselves as a serious force in the Eastern Region — with long-term ambitions firmly focused on continuing their climb up the pyramid. For a team rising this quickly, the direction of travel is clear. Harpenden Town Women FC: promoted, competing — and building for what comes next.

The Development Team began the new season under new leadership, with Daniel Marjanovic stepping up from Assistant Manager to take on the challenge of building an entirely new squad.

Early pre-season trials played a crucial role in identifying fresh talent, allowing Dan, Val and Cam to assemble a largely new group of players. Several young prospects were

quickly and currently sitting 5th in the league with half the season still to play.
As the name suggests, the Development Team exists to coach, challenge and progress young players, supporting them on their individual football journeys. Central to this is a clear pathway within Harpenden Town FC — enabling movement between teams and genuine opportunities to step up. That pathway is already delivering results. This season, George Wilde (18) and Ed Clements

As the season reaches the halfway mark, the Harpenden Town Women’s Development Team continues to flourish both on and off the pitch.

Results to date have been extremely encouraging, with the standout moment coming in the County Cup, where the team recorded an outstanding victory over previously unbeaten AFC Welwyn. After a thrilling 3–3 draw, the Devs held their nerve to win 3–0 on penalties against a side currently sitting second in the Beds & Herts Premier Division — a result that underlines the quality and potential within the squad.

In the league, the team currently sits second in Division One, having amassed 23 points from 11 games, and boasts the division’s most potent attack. With 61 goals scored in 14 matches, Harpenden Town are comfortably the league’s top scorers, with Ella Clement and Jes Curtis contributing 26 goals between them. Promotion is very much the target this season, with a longer-term ambition of reaching the Eastern Region League within the next two to three seasons.
This success is made even more impressive by the profile of the squad. The Devs are by far the youngest team in the region, with an average age of just 17, and an oldest player aged only 19. To date, 37 players have represented the team this season, the majority progressing from Harpenden Colts, alongside a handful of excellent external additions. The squad remains active in both cup competitions, with hopes of adding silverware to an already impressive campaign.
The relationship with Harpenden Colts continues to be a cornerstone of the programme. Close collaboration allows the club to identify and develop the most promising young players, with the top Colts U15 and U16 girls now training regularly with the Development squad. In addition, four

U16 players registered to play for the Devs on the very day of their 16th birthdays — a clear indication of the enthusiasm and pride in representing Harpenden Town. Several U16 players have also trained with the Women’s First Team and showed they more than belong at that level.
Women’s football is experiencing unprecedented growth at junior level, driven by younger players who have benefited from more regular competition and improved coaching than previous generations. With the continued strength of the Town–Colts partnership, the club is uniquely positioned to build a clear and sustainable pathway into adult women’s football — potentially including a second Development side — while also identifying and accelerating the most talented players towards the First Team and, in time, the higher levels of the Women’s National League.
Few clubs in the South East can boast access to such a deep and growing pool of talent.
With the Harpenden Colts Girls section expanding by 50–60 players each season, the opportunity to identify, nurture and develop elite young footballers will only continue to grow — placing Harpenden Town in an exceptional position for the future of women’s football.

The Harpenden Town Under 18 midweek league side has undergone a significant transformation since last season. With the entire previous squad moving on to university or joining other clubs, the summer brought the challenge — and opportunity — of building a completely new group from the ground up.
Pre-season trials proved extremely successful, allowing the club to identify a strong pool of new talent and lay the foundations for a competitive and ambitious squad. The management team worked tirelessly throughout the summer to assemble a group capable of meeting the demands of midweek floodlit football and embracing the standards expected at Harpenden Town.
While results this season have been challenging at times, the primary objective of the team is development, and in that respect the progress made has been extremely encouraging. Several players have already made their debuts for the Harpenden Town Development side, with a number also earning minutes with the First Team — clear evidence that the club’s pathway for young players is being delivered in practice, not just in principle.

This process will continue, with younger age-group players being introduced into the squad to support their ongoing development and exposure to the demands of senior football. Under the leadership of new manager Ryan Haggar, the focus remains firmly on progression. Ryan is both confident and committed to developing players who can, in time, represent Harpenden Town FC at the highest possible level.

environment that bridges the gap between grassroots and academy football.
Harpenden Town Under 16s compete in the Eastern Junior Alliance (EJA), widely recognised as the highest level of Sunday youth football in the South-East of England outside of professional club academies. Unlike traditional youth football structures, all EJA teams are formally aligned with leading nonleague clubs, creating an elite development

This is our third season competing in the EJA, and we are delighted to now be joined at this level by the current U14 and U13 squads, further strengthening the Harpenden Town youth pathway. Each EJA age group, from U13s through to U18s, consists of approximately 70 teams and is organised into regional sections. Harpenden Town currently
compete in the Brown Section, alongside strong and well-established clubs such as Dunstable Town, Welwyn Garden City, Colney Heath and Hemel Town.
The majority of the current U16 squad have progressed through the ranks at Harpenden Colts, one of the largest and most respected youth football organisations in the country, with many players starting their journey at

the age of six or seven. Harpenden Town EJA provides a clear next step for players excelling within the Colts system, while also welcoming talented players from other local clubs who are ready for the demands of EJA football.
The squad adapted quickly to the demands of EJA football. In our first season at this level, competing as U14s, the team performed superbly, finishing second in the Red Section, suffering just a single league defeat. At U15 level, the group continued to progress, reaching the quarter-finals of the EJA League Cup, appearing in the final of the Herts County Cup, and securing a highly respectable fifthplace league finish against strong opposition.

The squad is managed by Ben McDonald, who has led the Harpenden Colts Lions since their formation at U8 level. He is supported by Simon Foster, a former captain of Harpenden Town, and Keith Snaylam, a PE teacher at one of Harpenden’s local schools. All three coaches also have sons within the squad, reinforcing the strong sense of commitment and shared journey within the group.
Our philosophy is simple: we set out to win every game, but we firmly believe football should be enjoyed by every player in the squad. Success comes from being a squad, not just a team. We reward effort and performance while placing equal importance on development — both as footballers and as young people (although we do enjoy winning!).
EJA regulations require matches to be played at venues with full changing and catering facilities, and we are extremely fortunate to stage the majority of our home fixtures on the Harpenden Town First Team pitch at Rothamsted Park. This provides players with a professional matchday experience and helps prepare them for the next stages of their football journey. Competing at this level also brings additional requirements, including specialist kit, training

wear and tracksuits. We are extremely grateful to our sponsors TJ Fire and CK Plumbers, whose support helps offset some of these additional costs.
Playing in the EJA naturally attracts interest from professional clubs. Over the past three seasons, several of our players have been invited to train and trial with academy sides, and we were immensely proud when one player secured a two-year scholarship with Watford FC.
Over the summer, we refreshed the squad with a small number of new players who have added energy, commitment and quality to the group. At the time of writing, the team sits fifth in the Brown Section, continuing to compete strongly in a demanding league.
We have also seen several U16 players feature for the U18s in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League this season, underlining the strength of the pathway now available to talented and ambitious young footballers at Harpenden Town FC

playing fields of Wood End Primary School.
Back then, they were part of a group of nearly 80 boys and parents, all getting to know one another while discovering the joys — and challenges — of grassroots football.
Most of the boys in the Harpenden Town U14 squad have been playing together since the age of seven, when their football journey began with Harpenden Colts on the muddy

Over time, a core group of players emerged who were capable of performing at the upper end of the age group, and they were trained and developed together. While the vast majority of the squad live in Harpenden,
we have also been fortunate to add several highly talented players who have brought additional quality and competition to the group. None of this would be possible without an outstanding group of dedicated parentcoaches and an incredibly supportive parent group — something we are truly grateful for.
Our First Season in the EJA

and unanimous agreement among parents that it was time to embrace a new adventure — new opponents, new grounds and fresh challenges after several years of facing the same teams week in, week out.
We were therefore extremely fortunate to be offered the opportunity to join the growing Harpenden Town family. A huge thank you must also go to our sponsor TJ Fire for their very generous and continued support of the expanding EJA section.
As U13s, the boys thoroughly enjoyed their first season in the highly competitive Eastern Junior Alliance. The standard was arguably even higher than we anticipated, but the squad acquitted themselves superbly. Competing in what was widely regarded as one of the strongest leagues across the entire EJA, the team finished a very respectable fifth place while showing clear and consistent development throughout the season.
The current season has shown exactly what this group is made of. In a league that feels tighter and even more competitive than before, the squad has proven they can go toe-to-toe with anyone. Performances have often deserved more than the league table

suggests — there have been matches where we walked away empty-handed despite doing enough for at least a point, and others where we had to settle for a draw when three points were within reach.
That’s football, but it doesn’t tell the full story. Week in, week out, the boys have shown real quality, resilience and a growing maturity in how they manage difficult moments within games.
One standout highlight was the midweek EJA Cup tie against Cambridge City. Played under the lights in a proper cup atmosphere, the boys produced one of their most disciplined and courageous performances of the season. After a tightly contested match, they held their nerve superbly in the penalty shootout to secure a memorable victory — one of those nights that players, coaches and parents will remember for a long time.
Across the squad, development has been clear. Team shape, decision-making and overall game understanding have all taken significant steps forward, underpinned by a first-class attitude. The margins in this league are razor-thin, but our lads continue to meet the challenge head-on and prove that they belong at this level.
The boys take enormous pride in being able to say they play for Harpenden Town. Wearing the green and gold is a real badge of honour. With a number of the current Men’s First Team having played for Harpenden Colts in their youth, the pathway is clear and visible — and something the boys can genuinely aspire to.
Being part of such an ambitious club allows the players to see where hard work, commitment and development can lead. Looking ahead, our aim is to continue giving this outstanding group of friends the opportunity to play football together, to keep raising competitive standards, and ultimately to help produce players capable of one day representing the Harpenden Town Men’s First Team.
There is plenty to be proud of — and even more to build on.
U14’s Team Manager
Jon Wood

Harpenden Town U13s have successfully transitioned from Harpenden Colts to continue their footballing journey at a level designed to positively challenge and develop the squad. The U13 age group is the vanguard year for the Harpenden Colts training curriculum, which has been carefully structured to layer football development from U7s through to U18s.

The majority of the squad have been playing together since the age of six, and we are incredibly proud that the entire group is made up of players from Harpenden and the surrounding villages. This truly demonstrates the effectiveness of the local pathway and the club’s commitment to developing homegrown talent.
Following a highly successful 2024 season in Division One of the West Herts Youth League — culminating in winning the Challenge Cup
— the group collectively agreed that they were ready for a new challenge. For the 2025 season, the team joined the Harpenden Town Eastern Junior Alliance (EJA) family, alongside the existing U14 and U16 squads, marking an exciting step forward in their development. With the backing of a supportive and engaged parent group, and a close-knit, committed squad, the players have embraced the demands of competing at a higher level of football and the challenges that come with it.

Marquis of Granby

So far, so good. The squad are thoroughly enjoying their experience in the EJA, where the standard required to compete each week is high. Meeting this challenge demands discipline, the right attitude, teamwork and a strong work ethic — qualities the players continue to demonstrate week in, week out. As a coaching group, we are proud of how the players hold each other accountable, supporting one another through challenge

and encouragement. While there have been occasions where we have left points on the table and come away with less than our performances deserved, these moments have provided valuable learning opportunities as the team continues to grow.
As with the other Harpenden Town EJA squads, player development is clear to see. The intensity and quality of the league have improved our understanding of the
game, sharpened decision-making, and strengthened the team’s overall structure and identity. Team spirit remains a real strength, with constant encouragement on the pitch and plenty of off-field banter, highlighting just how close-knit this group of boys has become.
