DIRTY LOWDOWN SHAME UDP Fleecing Belize
Thursday, January 17, 2019 The Belize Times has gotten hold of a shameful and outrageous document which shows that even as Belizeans suffer the worst of times, the UDP continue to fleece the public purse to benefit themselves, their family members and cronies. A memo leaked to the Belize Times from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that Paulette Elrington, daughter of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sedi Elrington, has left her post as a Foreign Service Officer at the Permanent Mission of Belize in New York to study Law at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. While we wish her well in her studies, what is outrageous is that in that memorandum to CEO Pat Andrews, Elrington is requesting study leave, and also requesting that she continue to be paid her salary and perks while she is in Jamaica. This is wrong on so many levels. First of all, Elrington is a contract officer and is not a member of the Public Service. Study leave is not granted to contract officers, only to established public officers. In the memo, Elrington also reveals that she is being paid almost $200,000 as a Foreign Service Officer, including utility allowance, housing allowance,
