Stress is how your body and mind react when life feels too much.
It can make you feel tense, worried or tired. It can also make your heart beat fast, your muscles tight, or your thoughts go round and round.

You might notice stress in your body, your thoughts and your actions:
upset stomach rushing around avoiding people or tasks snapping at others
tense shoulders
racing heart headaches
“I can’t cope”
“What if something bad happens?”

Stress comes from both outside events and internal thoughts. Understanding your stress helps you cope better.

When your body feels stressed, you can try:
Breathing: Slow breaths in and out
Take breaks: Walk, stretch or get fresh air
Move your body: Short walks, dance, or gentle exercise
Eat well: Balanced food gives your body fuel
Our thoughts can make stress worse. Try this:
Notice your thoughts
Ask: Is this true?
Replace scary thoughts with calm ones
Example:
Instead of “I will fail,” say “I will do my best.”
