President’s Report
Dear Members,
I hope the year is off to a strong start for all of you. CAVPA started the year on a high note in January with our best-attended AGM to date, and I want to thank everyone who made the time to join, participate, and share ideas. The level of engagement we’re seeing across the country is truly encouraging, and it reinforces the importance of the work we’re doing together.
Looking back on 2025, it was a year of steady progress. From ongoing advocacy and industry events to the growing visibility of our Buy Canada message, CAVPA stayed active and present in meaningful ways, while also significantly expanding our engagement with event planners on LinkedIn.
Earlier this month, I returned to the Go West Conference in Edmonton for a main-stage panel discussion on safety, ethics, and transparency in our industry. It was a thoughtful conversation, and I appreciated the opportunity to help raise the profile of the challenges and expectations facing our members, as well as the industry more broadly. We also hosted a CAVPA meetup for members attending the conference, and it was great to connect in person, compare notes, and share a bit of industry news.

I also want to share an update on the 2026 AV Industry Data Survey. We’ve issued an RFP and are now awaiting proposals so we can determine what’s realistic within our budget and select the right approach. At the same time, we’ve started discussions with Destination Canada and Meetings Mean Business Canada to explore where our work might align, especially around economic impact and national-level data. The goal is to ensure the story of our sector is backed by solid numbers, not just anecdotes.
At the end of January, I had a productive call with MP Terry Beech on several CAVPA priorities, including competition issues and what Buy Canada should mean in federal procurement. It was an encouraging discussion. He understood the challenges we outlined and committed to bringing these concerns forward to colleagues and the appropriate legislative committees.
