Summer 2023 | Volume 3
Canadian Audio Visual Providers Association | Association Canadienne des fournisseurs de services audiovisuels
Message from the President I hope everybody has been enjoying the summer and getting a bit of a respite from the insane tempo many of us faced during the busy spring season. As fellow AV company owners, the CAVPA board have also been extremely busy all running our own businesses, but still managed to carve out time for CAVPA to make sure we are moving the organization forward, and I want to thank the board for all their time and efforts these past few months despite their busy schedules. In April, CAVPA successfully exhibited at its first trade show, the CITT EXPO-SCÈNE conference in Montreal, where we promoted awareness of job opportunities in our industry and managed to sign on a couple new member companies. Then in June, CAVPA held it’s first members reception at InfoComm in Orlando with over 30 attendees from member and sponsor companies.
Special Partners:
In addition to these live events, your board has been hard at work developing a formal strategic plan to guide us through the year ahead, which we will be discussing in more detail at the upcoming Town Hall on August 16 via Zoom. You should have already received a registration link for this via email, but if you did not, please email Sherry and she will forward it to you. We have an exciting agenda planned for the Town Hall, including presentations from our sponsor partners, roll out of the strategic plan, an update on the Competition Bureau/Act, as well as time for Q&A and general discussion. I hope you will all be able to join us! As mentioned previously, one of our primary objectives for 2023 is to continue growing our membership. We have added several new members so far this year, but we need your help to keep moving forward. The best way to recruit new member companies is via individual conversations between owners and senior management. The more members we have, the stronger CAVPA will be, both financially, but more importantly in terms of our credibility and relevance with government and industry stakeholders. Also please keep in mind that we recently introduced a new category for non-AV company members, known as “Associate Members,” such as individual event planners or event planning companies interested in joining and supporting CAVPA. I wish you all a great rest of the summer and hope to see you all at the town hall! Tim Lang, President
