This year at Lincoln North Star High School we charted our course, navigated our journey, and celebrated succes for the fifteenth year! Each day students walked in through the doors ready to learn and ----~ let their light hine. The students reached for the stars d teachers motivated their students to learn more. At North Star, we are committed to developing Academic Excellerice, Positive Relationships, and Productive Citizens. This is the mission statement here at LNS. One thing teachers always share with their students is, "When you feel like quitting think about why you started." Lincoln North Star has been the home for a wide variety of students over the past fifteen years. Whether involved in sports, theater, dance, clubs or even just academics, North Star students are lifted up and supported by one big family. This year we all came together as one and will continue to do so for many years to come becau ewe have let our light shine. This year's yearbook, "The Light Within" will show you just a little bit about each successful student that let their light shine this year.

Art classes allow students to truly show who they are and bring out untapped potential in everyone. Though some may come in thinking they can't make great art, all leave knowing that they can, in fact, make great art. Few schools value art like North Star does. LNS offers a wide variety of clas es that allow students to show their creativity and express themselves in ways most could never do at home. Take a jewelry class and forge a beautiful wire sculpture; wedge clay and mold it into a stunning pinch pot; make a statement with a street art project using pencil, ink, or paint and more in drawing class; go in the darkroom and finally take that perfect photo in photography; create a 3D space in a 2D plane while taking 2D/3D art. Whether a student is just starting out in Drawing 1 or in AP Art, they are always exploring and discovering new ways to expres themselves and create beautiful pieces of art. And with some of the best art teachers in LPS to guide the students, LNS continues to create and nurture amazing artists of the future. If a student really wants to go above and beyond art class, they can consider joining National Art Honor Society and make art for the school and the community. This dedication to art is why LNS continues to nurture and develop great artist. The school truly is lucky to have such a great art program.

Johnny Hower is a freshman English teacher that has been part of the North Star staff for four years. When asked what/\Yho persuaded him into becoming an English teacher, Hower proudly answered, "I had a rockstar English teacher when I was a junior and he made me realize that it's okay for boys to like writing and reading too." He also mentioned that was the first male English teacher he had ever had, and that one time in class his teacher had smashed a wooden board with his bare hands and he got to hold the· board. Rower's English teacher had brought so much excitement into the classroom and joy to his tudents, Hower wanted to replicate that. Freshman English classes covered a variety of topics, one of which was a paper about "What makes people Heroes and Villians". They were given articles to read and

they had class discussions about what they think about the topic. The students also had to conduct their own research on the topic and write a constructive essay on their findings. On the other end of the spectrum, many seniors had the opportunity to select a "lit elective" that interests them. Senior Tristan Nava chose Women's Literature with Jillian Harpster. The class covered a range of topics related to the women's movement. "I like how in-depth this class goes with women's issues in modem times," said Nava, "but sometimes it is hard to write about them." Senior Buok Koang's favorite part of the.class was Harpster herself. "She actually talks to us, she doesn't just give us a lesson plan and assignments to work on." Many English classes tried to broaden the activities and encourage students to talk about their ideas in the classroom.

Victor Mendez (10) transferred from Lincoln High School to LNS this year. Mendez was grateful for his Oral Comm teacher, who was doing a good job helping him catch up and not feel so overwhelmed.

Kamiran Ali is a junior at LNS. Kamiran is from Iraq and has been in Lincoln for two years now. He loves North Star because "I made lots of new friends in the ELL program." The English Language Learners program, also known as ELL, is a great way for students who don't speak English as their first language to learn how it is used. Many of the students in the ELL program can hold a conversation in English, but struggle to use more advanced vocabulary in the classroom setting. The ELL program has different levels, depending on how advanced the student is in their knowledge of the English language. Once students reach a certain level, they are eligible to graduate from the program. Some students are closer than others to being graduated from the program but it only takes an average of 3 years to complete the ELL program .. Students who are still in the program take three ELL-only classes, while the other four are mainstream classes every student has to take. By Hannah Arnrerg

Some of the students in the ELL program find that the best thing about the ELL program is that it is fun to learn new words and terms. One student in particular, senior Solaf Najeeb Berway, said that her favorite part of the ELL program is how kind and caring the teachers are. The teachers have many strategies for how they teach in their classrooms. One of those techniques is that they allow students to develop non-verbal methods to demonstrate their knowledge if they have trouble communicating in English. Another thing they do is find ways to show they value the students' home culture and language. But at the end of the day the ELL program helps many students learn, and understand English.

North Star has all kinds of classes, some of the most creative come from Family Consumer Science. Culinary Foundations teaches students all the basics they need to succeed. The first thing they learned this semester was how to measure and the kinds of clips and spoons to use. Students said they liked this course because it was hands on and they could eat the food afterwards. Before the students can dive into the deep end, they read about the dish they are making. The culinary foundations teacher, Rachel Hruza, the noted that when they made quick bread, they first learned how the bread ro2se. Other skills they learn is how to properly use knives and equipment. Senior Mckenzie Hoer said, "It is enjoyable to learn the basics and new recipes of culinary'foundations." Cooking is not the only creative class in the C-wing, students also have the option to take sewing. There is specific techniques that students learned that helped them later in the class. Simple things like hand sewing, stitching, threading the machine has made students able to make whatever they can imagine. Ms. Jessica Meyers shared that some students will go onto to design clothing in her class and even choose design as their career path! It all starts with making a zipper bag and a pair of boxers. When the student is proud of their work, they will want to do more.

For many students at LNS math classes can be a challenge. But thanks to the many amazing Math teachers of LNS, they are able to learn, study, and complete every math problem they face. From Algebra to AP Calculus Diff students continue to learn and advance their mathematic knowledge in order to prepare for college and even beyond that. "One thing I've learned in Stats is how to explain my math work through writing. Ranging from Percussion, Band, Orchestra, Guitar, to Jazz Band, the E-Wing offers a variety of options for music loving students. Everyone has a place to explore and find where they belong. Pep Band shone bright during football games this year, and their competitions improved every time they competed, even with such a young team from last year's loss of many talented seniors. Drum Line marches to the beat of their own drum, leading the many Gator-:-walks to be held for the State Qualifiers North Star has proudly produced the 2017-2018 athletic year. There is much to love about this program. "Being welcoming to everyone and treating everyone like a family, making memories and lifelong friends" was Aaron Albin and Silas Pierce's favorite aspects. Students who talk about the E-Wing speak of family and never feeling out of place because of the welcoming environment. Choir shows students that no matter who they are, from a scholar to an athlete, or just someone who loves to sing, choir is a place where anyone is welcomed and always has a friend nearby. Students never have to worry about having a good time qecause there are never any bad times happening. Ranging from women's and men's choirs, to concert choir and choreographed choir, every voice at LNS can be heard in its own special way. LNS choirs do an excellent job of showing off their highs and never their lows. "This year's choirs are filled with really great people," said choir teacher Kirk Brown, "very positive, very talented, and full of upperclassmen leadership." Senior choir veteran Tristan Nava provided insight on the relationships developed in choir classes: "Family first and Family last, so we always try to get along because everyone is going through their own thing, so we just love and support each other." Many students echo Nava's statement, seeking out choir classes not just to si_ng, but to find support and encouragement from their choir peers. Choir is a place where students not only hone their talents, but find a welcoming community.

Health and Physical Education classes are a way to make sure all students at North Star learn how to live a healthy life. Many students at North Star use physical education classes not only to take a break in the classroom, but to break a sweat and stay fit. There's also a variety of Physical Education classes available at North Star. That includes Weight Training, Advanced Weight Training, Fitness For Life, Lifetime Sports, Team Sports, Dance 101, Adapted P.E., Low Impact Aerobics, Beginning Swimming and Lifeguard Training. At North Star Students have to have a total of 10 credit hours of P.E. to graduate. North Star also has a variety of health classes which include Intro to Health Careers, Health and Medical Terminology. To graduate from North Star students have to have 2.5 credit hours of Health. Senior Alana Krieser said "Throughout high school I have taken Team Sports twice, Health, Intro to Health Science and Weight Training. These classes helped me decide that I wanted a career in physical education." Alana is a student-athlete and lettered in softball all four years of high school. Following her footsteps, her sister Freshmen Abby Krieser says "I'm excited to take team sports because everyone thinks it is easy and fun. I also think this class will help me with sports." These sisters enjoy Physical Education and Health classes. In gym classes, the coaches and teachers give a variety of activities. A lot of students enjoy the different ways to play kickball here at North Star. For example, kickball is played with six different bases instead of the typical three. In gym clas es matball was created to get the students to incorporate teamwork with partners. Some other activities students get the opportunity to be involved with, depending on what class they are in is physical free time, basketball and lacrosse. Senior Mason Austin said "I think Weight Training benefits me the most compared to the other classes because it helps me gain muscle that will help me jump higher for track." All students at North Star have the a~ility to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. With these opportunities each individual student gets the chance to Rise & Grind.

With a variety of science classes offered a(North Star, there is bound to be something for everyone to find exciting. Our year started off with an amazing phenomenon we all know as the eclipse. Anatomy and chemistry teacher Erin Miles said, "The teachers that make up the North Star science department are very knowledgeable but also have a lot of passion for what they teach, which is pretty cool." As expected, the science teachers were pretty stoked about getting to see it but so were all the students! It's not every day that we get cool shades and go outside to look up at the sky. Science doesn't just have to deal with astronomy and nature, there are also classes offered that study the human body, physics of how things move, chemical reactions, and how our earth was formed. "My favorite science class was chemistry with Mrs. McConnell. I liked it the best because she really has an ability to bring science to life, and she genuinely cares about her students' success both inside and outside of the classroom" said senior Jonah Housh. Senior Tin Nguyen holds fire in Mrs. McConnell's AP chemistry class. Spooky science day in chemistry is something students in science classes look forward to every Halloween.

Social Studies and the current events happening in the world have a lot in common. North Star has many Social Studies classes that students can take and offers opportunities for them to learn about the world around them. Some of these classes include human geography, world history, civics, sociology, and government politics. • These classes can be taken at a differential or advanced placement level. Social Studies and current events shape the way the world is now. "I enjoy studying social studies because it forms the present and the way the world is now," said sophomore Hailey Barnes. Many people don't realize the effect of social studies on their daily lives. Some of these effects may be politics, maps, and history. "I love taking AP Go Po because I love learning and studying politics-," sai~ senior

Social Studies

The students played games, that helped them memorize and strategize tha can be used outside of school. With them playing chess they learn how to use skills that will help them when they get out of high school and help them in the future. They also played Memory games that help them remember things, that is an important skill that would be very useful growing up. Another game they played was~uno which works on people skills and communication, with them playing these games they are bettering themselves without even knowing it. Skills that one day will hel1 them get jobs, or just live everyday life.

Special Education students get to participate in many unique learning opportunities. On Mondays, they visit the Bay and keep the skate ramps nice and clean. On Wednesdays, they go to the SVdP warehouse and clean their offices. Other days of the weeks, students get to play Chess, Dominoes, or card games. Each of these activities provides a special opportunity for learning and growth for the students. The students in the Special Education Program stayed very busy throughout the whole day. They help out at North Star. They help with recycling -bins, Clean off lunch tables, and at the end of the day they get to have their own free time. This class is a class to remember, and a class to appreciate for the small but big parts they do at orth Star.

Most tudent going to North Star don' t realize the chool contains a student/child learning center. The student/ child learning center i a program that helps high school tudent with childcare costs. To the tudent that utilize thi magnificent tool, it is very convenient. This year the program ha 4 children enrolled, but in the previo~s year they had 8 children. The youngest child they have is 10 months old, and the oldest is almost 2 years old. The student/child learning center can take kids from the ages of 2 weeks to 3 years old. As soon as the children arrive at the learning center, they have goals that they try to accomplish. Some of the younger children may have the goal of holding their heads up by themselves, or trying to babble. When they start to get older the parents will fill out a development questionnaire to determine what their next goal may be. The student/child learning center is run as if it were a daycare. Here at North Star the students have some expectations to follow in order for their children to be enrolled. The student have to pay a small fee to have t ir children in this program. The students also have to take a parenting class, which is offered as a class at No Star. Students also have to be on track to graduate. This program helps students and their children stay clos o each other, while allowing high school parents to continue their education.

A Wlitrlt Ntw Wtrr!d North Star, home of diversity and languages_ North Star is home to one of the most, if not the most diverse student bodies in Lincoln. With one of the most di verse student bodies comes along many different languages as well. North Star makes world language a big deal within the school. Many of the students at North Star speak more than one . language, sometimes speaking a different language than English at home so taking world language classes is important for them. One of the student in the native speakers Spanish class, Mario Ortiz Rodridguez, says that "Since we speak English the whole day at school it's important that we practice our Spanish too so that we don't lose our language and make sure to keep up our fluency in it too." Showing the importance of taking a world language at school The kids at North Star even find taking world language important in the fact that it connects them . to cultures around the world. Many of the students said that taking world language at school is important so that they are exposed to things that are going on around the world .and not just in America so that they can stay well informed and keep their minds open. World language has given students at North Star the ability to connect to other countries around the world, learn more about cultures other than their own, and even strengthen their native languages.

, The administration at Lincoln North Star was the heart and foundation of the school. They kept the people who were falling behind in line. Administrators are what kept the students going, providing care and a person to talk to when kids are having a hard day. They resolve1 the conflicts that could drive students to do act out and alternatively helped lead each student in a positive direction and pathway. They are some of the many heroes of the school, and their hard work often goes unnoticed. "We love the students here; they have a family kind of feel to them," said administrator Rachel King. Administrators always had the backs of all students and the diversity didn't divide the school, it brought the community together. They are here to set a vision for the students and lead them to greater and higher achievements. The administration didn't always spend their time with students or sitting in the office looking at referrals and student grades. John Matzen, for example, noted, "I spend some of my time making schedules for the bell." Administrators act as one big team; like the students they have each others' backs. Marcy Harrifeld said her favorite part of the job is working with students. "I love the educational relationships I have built with many of my students whom I work with on a daily basis!" "We believe setting a path is the most important step to having the student reach their way to success and achievement," explained Matzen. "Once the goal is set, the path is up to the student to continue the journey on their own."

Whether you were an incoming freshman or a graduating senior at North Star this year each student appreciated the outstanding support staff. The staff constantly worked hard from dawn to dusk making sure each and every student was always set up for success in a clean and safe environment! The members of the staff dedicated their lives to the students and treated each student equally. From the office attendants, to counselors, activity coordinators, custodians, and more, North Star has been proud to have some of the best staff around! Mr. Eric Williams said, "I love working for North Star. We have some really great kids and they're fun to be around." Not only does the support staff give us a boost throughout the school day but they often find time in their days to support our school in extracurricular activities as well! "I love looking out into the the crowd at basketball games seeing counselors, security guards and custodians cheering on the Gators! This is a great way for them to support us all the time!" Said Senior Peerless Hall. Not only are these members helping out the school but they help to encourage and motivate the students to achieve academic success and gain integrity to push through the toughest classes! Sophomore Mia Morely expressed, "The positive support staff makes coming to school better knowing we're going to be safe and supported!"

One of the greatest places to stop by during the day is the Gator Swamp Shop! The shop is open during all three lunch periods where students get the opportunity to stock up on some Gator gear! The North Star cheer squad is full of school pride and enthusiasm. These cheerleaders are hardworking and strong leaders. Being a part of the spirit squad, the cheerleaders have a lot of school spirit. Senior Delanie Tinnerstet said, "I'm going to miss spending nights cheering with my best frien b my side. I think our team has a lot of energy and we have a 101 of fun." They are cheerleaders that are very committed by going to practice, cheering for all levels of basketball, footl all and volleyball games. They are also very supportive by tirr. Il! for swimming and dive, and volunteering for wrestling. Cheerleaders attend the performing arts, LPS events, cance walks, and other extracurricular activities around school. ,.tc walks, pep rallies and Campbell assembles are other event~ that cheerleaders get the opportunity to perform at. Christina Nevitt has been the Varsity cheer coach for eleven years. This will be Nevitt's last year of coaching. No bench. No halftime. No timeout. Cross country is a true test of endurance and strength. Both boys and girls run 3.1 miles on a flat or very hilly course. Savannah Whisenhunt, 12, said "yes the .1 counts!" The North Star running Gators have dominated the course this fall season. Many of the Gators have placed in the top fifteen and medaled every meet. Cross country has representatives from seven different countries. Luke Pierce, a boys captain, said "diversity and different backgrounds gives great advantages to the team." At the Charlie Thorell Invitational rrieet, boys received first place. Boys and girl's together won the Traveling Team award. Liem Chot, 9, and Daniel Pierce, 10, both placed in the top five . Jaden Hilkeman,11, and Sydney Settles, 12, both placed in the top 10. Paige Debrie, one of the girls captains, said "We're all about team bonding and good relationships." Cross Country may be an individual sport but the running Gators seek nothing less than a strong support system within each other. On and off the course, North Star is a family.

Everyone's favorite halftime performance: North Star's very own Dazzler Time! The Dazzlers are made up of thirteen girls full of spirit and high ruby jumping. Each of these girls wake up bright and early every morning to bring the Gator crowd a stunning performance. Mia Morley, a sophomore on the team s·ays she tried out for the Dazzlers because "how friendly everyone is and how confident it makes me feel in dance. I feel really powerful as a team and it has benefited me a lot!" This summer, the girls went to UDA Dance Camp in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The girls go through a vigorous yet rewarding four days of learning new skills and competing against high schools all over the Midwest. The Dazzlers won a superior trophy with their home routine, all blue ribbons, highest ribbon, for A and B routines, and all six seniors received All-American and 3rd overall with team routine "Sax". The team won spirit sticks each day of camp and junior Olivia Kriz was one of the first to be awarded a Pin-It-Forward award out of 35 dance teams. The Dazzlers perform at football and basketball halftimes as

well as at pep rallies. Their responsibilities also inch jE dazzling various crowds at elementary schools, cancer wa1 :s. and the Star Strutters Drill Team Show. The girls not only are spirited on the dance floor but ofl o j it as well. The Dazzlers' social media accounts keep all J.E North Star students up to date and excited about upcoIDJ 1~ events. Annastazya Spickelmier, a fourth year vet on • 1E Dazzlers, is the _administrative coordinator this year. She sa 'S. With the diversity of ages, none of the girls ever feel lone y. The football players fought through a lot of adversity and a very competitive district in the 2017 season. There was a lot of growth and maturity through the sport with the support from the coaching staff. The team had a lot of talent and potential; with the guidance of the coaching staff they were able to pull through at the end of the season a 2-7 record, with a lot of close game and injuries along their journey. As senior Travon Tolliver explained, "I grew not only as a player, but as a man. It was an honor to have the chance to lead a group of hard working athletes. When I walked onto the field on game day it wasn't like they were my teammates, but my brothers." The team had one of their best pre-season workouts in a long time with the best attendance and work ethic to improve their strength and agility for the upcoming season ahead. With the leadership of the upperclassmen and captains, Anthony Kirby, Gavyn Leitschuck, and Travon Tolliver, the bonds that were built through the sport became unbreakable. From hard conditioning to scrimmages and team bonding, the team as a whole had committed a lot of respect and responsibility toward their team and teammates. Junior Wiech Nuot said, "Shoot, being a part of the team is an honor, and I made so many lifetime friendships and relationships." The team was very connected and cared for

each other-.:helping everyone out in classes and defend g their teammates in _games were only some of the action taken to show the love for each other. They also gave t1 eir all in practices, making sure that their teammates were continuously improving throughout the season. Junior Gavyn Leitschuck said, "It took a lot of time nd hard work, my teammates had to always know that I w~ .; all in. Being positive a,nd always being a good leader i important." Two of the seniors playing on the te.am this year, Anthony Kirby and Jonah Housh, were nominated to represent the state of Nebraska in the River Battle Bow; against Iowa. They traveled to Treynor, Iowa and playe with the best seniors throughout both states. The team had a very large senior class with 16 playt: ·s that played a large role on the team, two of them being captains and leaders. Senior Anthony Kirby said, "Shoo I learned what it takes to be a leader. Being able to take p rt as a captain meant a lot." The team having a senior clasifilled with leaders helped th~m to sopie success and ma( ! improvement happen constantly. As former head coach Mark Waller always said, "Keep grinding, Next play, a most importantly ... Shoot!"

Star Plajtrf The 2017-2018 boys ba ketball team had quite the season. The team consisted of 14 players all together. They had six seniors, four juniors, three ophomores, and one freshman. They had an overall record of 12-13 this season. The boys always played hard which made the games a treat to watch. Each game kept the crowd on their toes. On~ of the most memorable games wa on the first day of the RAC tournament against Fremont. North Star was down during the first, second, and third quarters of the game but managed to even the score out by fourth quarter and win the game during overtime. This game showed the dedication that these boys have for the sport by going above and beyond, especially with sophomore Donovann Williams scoring a whopping 43 points during this game. The boys then went on to the finals in the HAC tournament. It was these extremely close games that made the Gator boys so much fun to watch on the court. Most games came down to the wire and shocked many people, including their win against Bellevue East High School with the score being 56-51. It was obvious that the boys would put in 100% effort in their game to get the results they wanted. The hard work the boys put in at practices was shown on the court and undoubtedly left their opponents impressed. Overall, this season was very different from their last season, but it was for the better. The students were always excited to watch the boys play and put all their heart into the sport. At the end of the day no matter win or lose, North Star will always be proud of the boys and will always appreciate what they do for the sport and school.

The whole team made a personal best in time improving from the numbers of la t year. They reached their fastest time of the season as a team. Junior Xander Schmit said, 11 I love that we all have great teamwork and push each other to do better. We had a really great team dynamic this year. Individual wimmers had ome breakthrough of their own. Jes ica Gardner received first at state, with Jenna Miller coming in third. Mac Morse broke her personal time record, meaning she swam in her faste t peed to date. All the swimmers made a splash in their scores 11 this year and made fellow Gators proud.

This year the Gator wrestling team had a great group of seniors leading the younger kids throughout the season. Head Coach Jacob Froscheiser said of his team, "Great senior leaders that know the culture of Gator wrestling and the expectations the coaching staff has." The seniors were good at making practice fun while still being . able to work hard in the wrestling room. Coacn Fro was really prow of the way the team performed and was excited for the potential for growth next year. He was proud of the varsity team for having the highest finish at the Gator invitational while he's been head coach. Assistant coach Austin Lenhoff said, "This year's wrestling team was lead by a lot of great seniors excited for the underclassmen's roles and responsibility for the years to come."

This year marked the second annual Gators Got Talent. The even was hosted by Student Council and was open to the whole student body. Students shared their talents in playing an instrument, singing, or any other special skills. The show this year had a big tum out in comparison to last year's Gators Got Talent. Iri order for students to attend, they had to brint~ three canned foods to support the food drive. Thanks to the big tun out to see their fellow gators, North Star raised a lot of cans for tht food drive. Students were excited to share what they had been working on , their free time. This was senior Brittany Pfoltner's first time participating in Gators Got Talent. She said, "It was a great opportunity for me to perform in front of my peers and get out of r y comfort zone." Everyone who attended loved the show. Senior Sara Hasan sai "I loved the show because I got to see everyone's talent and the diversity of our school.''- Gators Got Talent is sure to be a staple in school years to come.

Soda Pop was written by a Southeast and University of Nebraska Alumnus who is now a screen writer in Hollywood. The story is set in the 1950's. Betty and Bobby are the perfect couple. Sometime throughout the time of dating, Betty decides she isn't satisfied with the relationship so she starts dating the rebel, Ricky. Throughout the show Bobby keeps trying to get Bet y back. Everyone else wants the "perfect couple" to be together and crowned king and queen at Prom. They ar • so obsessed with them being together that all the other students refuse to go unless Betty and Bobby are going to be there together. A fight scene takes place between Jimmy and Bobby and Betty intervenes to win the figh The original, fan favorite couple gets back together anc goes to prom. It is a happy ending after all! There is a lot of work that goes into the show that rn a lot of people realize. Backstage is an extremely busy pl ce and is just as important to the success of the show as th performers themselves. The behind the scenes crew consists of lighting, sound, props, costume, makeup, painting, construction. The entire cast worked extremely hard to make this show a success. Senior Eli Bryan said, "We had a wonderful cast that was led by two incredible directors, Mrs. Broeker and Mr. Fortkamp. This show wasn't easy it was far from. We did not hsive one.of our star performe; and best friends and we performed this show in honor o him. Pretty awesome, huh? Rise up!"

Homecoming 2017 was sugar weet; this year' theme wa Candy Land. The dance floor wa lined like the popular board game and decorated with candy arches. Student Council worked extra hard this year to produce a deliciou night for everyone. Students danced the night away to hits like Congratulations by Post Malone and Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston. Whether they had a date or went with friends; everyone said this night was one to remember. Sophomore River Hegel said "I have never sweat more in my life, especially when Bodak Yellow came on. Candy land was my favorite theme so far." This homecoming was extra sweet with cotton candy as the spotlight guest. It was the first thing to run out at the snack line . . For first time attendees homecoming met and exceeded their expectations. Junior Lilli McCall said, "This was my first homecoming and I can say it was .a lot of fun, more than I thought it would be! I do not think I have ever danced so much." Student council did a stellar job for this years homecoming. What is homecoming without royalty? Many students from each grade were nominated this year, though only one guy and one girl from each grade won. It was still an honor to everyone who was nominated. Nominee Jonah Housh had a dazzling time at his final homecoming, "It was a blast! The songs were total bops. I am glad the D.J. let students request songs." 2017 homecoming was a total success, thanks to student council.

The whole cast of Legally Blonde did an amazing job with each and every one of their parts. They showed a range of emotions throughout the show.

As the show went on for Legally Blonde the girls that played Elle' s friends became such a good help for Elle' character to shine on the stage. With the many practices they did they really did make the stage really bright.

Thi year's One Act was Legally Blonde! The cast spent a lot of time with this play. They would practice every day after school for several hours. They sometimes would practice during the weekend too. Everyone always welcomes each other into the black box and the tage as a family. New faces and old faces would appear and instantly they would made friends the second they stepped in. Like every other play or musical everyone would grow closer to one another each day. The hard work paid off--the LNS One Act received 2nd place at the district competition. Our theater students really bring out the act and amazing talents to orth Star gn;mnds.
