What is an Academic All-Star? An Academic All- Star is someone who excels in any subject whether it is History, Math, Art, English, Science or Physical Education. All the teachers were asked who they thought were the best students for the All-Stars. Several names were given, but the people whose names were given the most go above and beyond to make sure that they have good grades and good work habits in each one of their classes. These students work hard in every class everyday. Even with after school activites they still f ind t ime for thier school work. They dedicate their weekends, after school free time to school. Even these Acedemic All-Stars have some mistakes, but then again they are human. But they learn from the mistakes they make, to try to be the best they can be. Every student can be an Acedemic All-Star if they just pushed themselves to do good in not just thier favorite classes but in also the classes that they don't like. All the epartments had given names and the selcect few who where chosesn. A few students got nominated twice. The rest only once but it is still a great feeling to be nominated. Hope all students try their hardest in all classes and then maybe one day they too will be recognized by their teachers.

Here at LNE, there are many indust1 a tech classes to choose from. TI1ere' s an auto shop where you can learn to -1 ~1 cars and know how they work. There's a welding class where students learn to use the equpment and and work with metals. There's wood shop, wher students build projects and learn to use equipment. Students also have t 1 option to do a residential course whe ( they actually help build a house. Then there's CAD, which is more computer based design. Students at LNE like t c industrial tech classes because it ,..eal helps you in the future, like fixing you, car, building your own shed, or fixing your computer. Many students oftet end up taking more than one tech cla \\I really like being in a class for something that I'm interested in." Senior Alex Wade said. In Mr. Freese's woodshop class, Makiah is showing off his table in the making. When I asked Makiah how he made the table, he responded with, nl used a variety of different machines and knowledge I've learned about assembling tables." He said it took him nabout two weeks to get to where it is now and it's still a work in progress." Makiah has high hopes for the way it'll turn out when he's done with it. Using correct measurements and mations are key to successful labs and grades. According to the dictionary, accuracy is how ose 011e can get to the t --ue alue. Precision means ge ting close to the true value over a period several trials. Ninth grade Science teacher Wendy Martin states, "Precision and accuracy is ·ntricate in any lab s'tuation. If you are not accurate and precise when taking measurements, your ta witt be wed, meaning that you will not get the correct ideas or data out of the lab. olleyball is a tough sport to crack. With defensive specialists, liberos, outside hitters, dglltside hitters, and middle hitters, not to mention setters, there is a lot to keep track of. When only six are allowed on the court at a time, tensions start to rise when coach de• ides who those selectied six are. Throughout the LNE varsity season, theteam had its ups and our downs. From multiple injuries to just plain old cat fights, the managed to compose itself for the game's sake. Coach Songster along with the other coaches have st1--engthened the players mentally and physically. With nobody really having a set postition and a set spot in the starting line up, it brought out the competition in everyone. Seniors ook on the role of being leaders and tempers sometimes flared. With everyone gunning for that starting spot, true personalities bloomed and many broke out of their shells. nd, at the end of the day, everyone was.a Rocket and everyone loved to play.

olleyball, Oh volleyball. From year to year we begin to see new talent and strugglers. This year was one to boast about. With 3 new coaches on staff, it was a building year. The Fr-eshmen started off with conditioning and learning the basics. The Reserve started off with a couple mis-haps and ha1,.d work. The junio1,. Varsity with a lot of r-etumers sta1,.ted w·i th stong friendships and fun times, but never seemed to forget what they were there to do; Play Volleyball. With being able to learn new things, the JV began to etach the younge1,. gids to focus and to stay low. The motto of the Freshman and Reserve teams was'' Work Hard, Play Hare, WIN!" This l'"Ubbed off on JV and Varsity gids to. It's a legit motto; It motivates. The teams sta1,.ted off with a couple questinoable things, but as the season went on, they got bette1'", rust got stronger, and playing got funner. Which is how the whole season should be. From sta1,.t to finish, the same goes for all. Hard work pays off, skills get better, and playing gets more fun. GO ROCKETS!

The Varsity girls Basketball team has come a long way. TI1is team of girls has a special bond with one another and it shows on and of f th e court; The girls have special st ar tin g rituals before every game and always welcome eachother 011 and of f th e court. Even if th e girls sit tin g ou t do n't see playing time during th at game they're always there to cheer on their teammates. A t st at e, th ey beat South Sioux City in th e fir st round before falling to eventual St at e champion Omaha Benson i11 th e semi finals. For some of these girls th ey still have a year or tw o to continue to make memories bu t fo r th e seniors it' s a bi tte r sweet feeling knowing th at it' s almost over, th at 's why th is year th e gids wante'--1 to make th is a year to remember.

This summer and f ir s t semester t h e s tudents in marching band have : ~en preparing and working th e ir hardest t o p u t on a great hal~ime show t o perform a t home f 0 01 1all games and Marching Band competitions. During t h e f ir s t week o f August, students attende Band Camp learning t h e basic fundamentals and t h e drill charts t o their very f ir s t song. I t me n o t seem like much work when t h e band is on t h e field pe1farmin g because i t looks p r e t t y easy ju s t by watching, b u t t h is year's band had g r e a t discipline and determination t o p u t on an am zing show. The 2 0 1 3 Lincoln Northeast Marching Band's show t h is year was named "Games." 1 1e t it le says i t all t h is year's show featured songs named "Tag", "Sudoku",and "Capture The Fla g. To go along with t h e show t h e Color Guard played t h e roles o f Je sters. The Color Guard could be f ·en playfully running around t h e show during "Sudoku" pretending t o mess with t h e band members. F,. ederick Ballard's play, Younq Amedca, takes place in the eady 20th Centu, . y in a city much like Havelock. There is a group of young hooligans who cause trouble and end up in court. One of the neighbors, Edith Do ray (Ali Lane) decides to foster one of them, Art Simpson (Shelby Koch) and his dog, "Jaspe, . , much to her husband, ,.Jack's, dismay. The rest of the play is what happens while Art is living with the Dorays. Some moments are moving, but it·is a comedy. Younq America is the idea of youth in our communites and how adults need to watch after and be responsible for them. This play was directed by Bruce Chapman. Assistant Directors were Amanda Tomes and Mary Southworth Theatre Technicain was Josh Brauer.
