Wait a minute Mr. Postman!
I know that stamp was here somewhere.
Even though we may leave, A part of us will always be here.
And memories made here will ha e a special place in our hearts.
And though there may be memories that we wish to lock-up and throw away the key, Maybe someday we will realize,
That in order to appreciate the good times, we must have experienced e had. Here we have reached for the sta and some stars ha e fallen.
We have laughed together, but also cried.
We have found new friends, new faces, new experiences, and each day, we've learned more about life.
About life and people and true fi:~iendship.
But now, we must continue learning and growing. And part of growing is having to a "good-bye."
Good-byes are ne er eas , bu t a part of life. We can onl keep memori
So here's t o memories.
And though t his nia be t he end, i t is al o he b ginning.

FRIENDSHIP is a golden chain, the links are friends so dear
And like a rare and precious jewel it's treasured more each year
It's clasped together firmly with a love so deep and true, with fond recollections too
Time can't destroy its beauty for as long as memory lives
Years can't erase the pleasures the joy that FRIENDSHI gives
For FRIENDSHIP is a priceless gift that can't be bought or sold
But to have an understanding friend is worth far more than gold
The golden chain of FRIENDSHIP is strong and bles es the kindred hearts together
As the ., ears go passing by

It's that f~st day when e erything i new 4 that friends ar made. T e first smile, the first h llo is all i takes.
Even though some of us have known each other only a short time our friendships will grow in years to come. Different styles will come and go but friends are here to stay. Sure, everyone will fight now and then but deep down inside the little squabbles don't really mean a thing.
Of course there will be those times of romance. When two friends find something very special in common.
For Seventh grade is the beginning of lifetime friend hips and new experiences that will never be forgotten.

This year the faculty got their seal of approval from the students. They brought out the prime in their teaching skills to make this year the best ever. From teacher appreciation day to championship volleyball games, the teachers always pulled through. Many of the teachers were involved in the program IDM, Instructional Decision Making. This program taught teachers what to consider before making a decision and showed them what kind of decisions have an effect on student learning. Some of the teachers were also involved with a program called SCIP, School Community Intervention Program. This program involves a group of teachers who gather each week to ~_ see if they can help students in school who may be-~ · failing because of drugs or alcohol. The teachers defmitely wrapped up this year with a Seal of Ted Rethmei er Approval. Vice Principal

The Yearbook class kicked off the year with the study of Hollywood and the great film stars. Preceding the completion of an in-depth report on a favorite star, they watched several films a b out Hollywood. Second quarter Shafer declared, "Let's get crack.in' on the Year book." Following through on Shafer's command, Yearbook class got down to work. After cropping many pictures, measuring sheets, and writing several copyblock the fmal pages were dropped in the slot and ent to the publisher. Publishing the Literary magazine occupied the fourth quarter. This collection of original student writings was distributed to the entire student body at the end of the year at no charge.

Caroling , giving flowers, and delivering holiday treats are just a few thing that Student Council did for the community this year. In September, Student Council cosponsored the seventh grade party. For Thanksgiving, S tude nt Council held a studentteacher volleyball game and the proceeds went to the Malone Center. During December, holiday '" treats were given to the Lefler staff and T-shirts were purchased for the Special Olympi cs contestants. Also Student Council organized a pajama day and a "Jama Jam" in January. With spring approaching, Student Council had a good time delivering leadership to the other students and was considered a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 in 1986.
"The Frankenstein's Are Back In Town" presented by selected student actors, shook Lefler's stage as the first all-school play of the year. Directed b) Ruth Kay, the new drama and English teacher at Lefler , the play was a big success. First semeste r the third and sixth period drama classes performed comedies "Bigfoot" and "If the Bo ys Wore the Skirts." Both plays had the audience cheering for more. So Ms. Kay honored their requests and put on another comedy second semester, "Snow White and the Little Men."

"This choir is the most musical group I've ever had ," concluded Ms. Evans about thi year's Select Choir. This year's 32 members con isted also of seventh graders, which is a new addition to the harmonious choir. Ms. Evans said she allowed seventh graders to participate because they could not sign up for chorus until second semester due to the exploritory block. Every year the color of the tie and cumberbun is changed in order to show that each choir is unique. Royal blue adourned their customary black and white outfits this year. Overall Ms. Evans enjoyed the choir, "They're very pleasant to work with and that makes it fun!"

Handing out pamphlets at the information center brought many new members to this year's Red Cross. "I'm glad a lot of people joined, and I hope they continue," stated the two-year President, Kathy Bergstrom. Although they began the year with only two members, attendance increased to 22 before the year was over. Every week this group met for approximately 45 -minutes planning activities to benefit the - chool and community. Sponsoring a dance, - organizing a candy cane drive during the holid ay season, participating in a walkathon, and entert aining the residents of a nursing home are just a few of the things done by this years' active club.
Lefler Stagehand gave its frrst performance of the year during an all-school instrumental concert in December. Their uniform shirts of royal blue with gold lettering added a nice visual touch to the talents of the musical group. Stageband performed in the spring and summer instrumental concerts as well as giving a concert of their own for all the Elementary Schools that feed into Lefler. Towards the end of the year in May, Lefler Stagehand competed in a Junior High Music Concert showing that good things do come in small packages.

This year's cross country te am held success as their highest priority. Coach Pasco trained them hard and long, but that, combined with work and ability paid off in the end. The cross country team finished the season with a perfect 5-0 •record and a city championship. One member of the team, Jason Reed, was even able to run in nationals in Pennsylvania. This year's team showed a lot of talent and they are sure to go far.

The Sunglo Machine wa added to the gym area in 1985-86 in an effort to raise funds to build a fitness trail for Lefler. Fruit juices and fruit drinks we r e dispensed in the machine before and after schoo l.
The proposed trail will cost approximately SB, 200 and will stretch from the north side to the south side of Lefler, bordering the school.
Other finances came from the Stu dent Council, organizations outside of the school and a magazine drive by the PTA. Mr. Carroll expects the trail to be finished within the next two ears. This fitnes trail is designated to improve students uppe r bod strength, as well as for their pure enjo ment.
This year's basketball teams, although lacking in height, compens a ted for this with their desire to win. Th ey practiced every day after school, and we r e worked hard by coaches Mr. Carr oll and Mr. Wall. The basketball season started off a little rough, but by the end of the season, the players had learned many new things, including how to work well together. The 7th and 8th graders also were s u ccessful in their games. Congratulations to all of the boys basketball teams; you did a good job!
