LUCAS WALDIN conductor
Lucas Waldin is a dynamic and versatile conductor whose performances have delighted audiences across North America. He has collaborated with some of today’s most exciting artists including Carly Rae Jepsen, Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds, Canadian Brass, Crash Test Dummies, Leslie Odom, Jr., Jackson Browne, and Rita Wilson, in addition to conducting presentations such as Disney in Concert, Blue Planet PHOTO BY ADRIAN MENDOZA
Live, Cirque de la Symphonie, and Red Bull Symphonic. He is also active as a conductor for concert film presentations including titles such as The Goonies, The Princess Bride, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Love Actually, The Lion King, and Batman. Waldin has been a guest conductor for numerous orchestras in the US and Canada, including The Cleveland Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Festival Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Philly Pops, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and National Arts Centre Orchestra. Having joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as resident conductor in 2009, Waldin was subsequently appointed artist-in-residence and community ambassador — the first position of its kind in North America. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was awarded the Jean-Marie Beaudet Award in Orchestral Conducting and received a Citation Award from the City of Edmonton for outstanding achievements in arts and culture. A native of Toronto, Waldin holds degrees in flute performance and conducting from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

CAPATHIA JENKINS vocals
The Brooklyn-born and raised singer/actor, Capathia Jenkins premiered her new show, The Voices That Changed Music, with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, with subsequent performances in Houston, Baltimore, Reno, Anchorage, and several other cities. She premiered her solo show, She’s Got Soul, with the PHOTO COURTESY OF CAPATHIA JENKINS
Houston Symphony in 2022, followed by performances with The Cleveland Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, and Utah Symphony, among many others. Jenkins starred as Medda in the hit Disney production of Newsies on Broadway. She made her Broadway debut in The Civil War, where she created the role of Harriet Jackson. She then starred in the Off-Broadway 2000 revival of Godspell before returning to Broadway in The Look of Love. Jenkins also created the roles of The Washing Machine in Caroline, Or Change and Frieda May in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. In 2007, she went back to Off-Broadway and starred in (mis)Understanding Mammy: The Hattie McDaniel Story, for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. She was also seen in Nora Ephron’s Love, Loss, and What I Wore. An active concert artist, Jenkins has appeared with numerous orchestras around the world including The Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (with Marvin Hamlisch), Cincinnati Pops (with John Morris Russell), Philly Pops, San Francisco Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and many others. She was also a soloist with the Festival Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic. Jenkins had the great honor of performing in the “Broadway Ambassadors to Cuba” concert as part of the Festival De Teatro De La Habana. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops multiple times and sang in a tribute to Marvin Hamlisch at the Library of Congress. RYAN SHAW vocals
Ryan Shaw is a three-time Grammy-nominated artist for his solo projects, Columbia Records’s This is Ryan Shaw, his In Between, and Dynotone Records’s Real Love. Shaw has shared the world stage with such artists as Van Halen, Bonnie Raitt, John Legend, B.B. King, and Jill Scott. His music has been featured on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and ABC’s Dancing with the PHOTO BY DAVE GIORDANO
Stars, Grey’s Anatomy, and Lincoln Heights, and the films My Blueberry Nights and Bride Wars. He was also a featured guest in The 92nd Street Y’s recent presentation of Lyrics & Lyricists, What’s Going On?: Songs of Change. Shaw starred as Judas in the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Olivier Award–winning London production of Jesus Christ Superstar, as the original Stevie Wonder in Motown: The Musical on Broadway, and on London’s West End as the Soul of Michael Jackson in Thriller Live. His solo orchestral show, RYAN SHAW: Masters of R&B, recently premiered with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and he also appears alongside Capathia Jenkins in a new duo show entitled The Voices That Changed Music. Recent and upcoming orchestra appearances include The Cleveland Orchestra, Philly Pops, Seattle Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Shaw’s 2020 album, Imagining Marvin, showcases Marvin Gaye hits alongside Shaw’s original songs, and features Grammy Award–winning co-writers Valerie Simpson and Rob Thomas and special guests Derek Trucks, Rob Thomas, Robert Randolph, and Shoshana Bean. Shaw’s newest single, “Rising Up,” is an inspirational call to action; the full album will be released in 2026. Shaw also recently released a new duo album with Ray Angry entitled OFF Broadway, which features contemporary and progressive soul versions of classic Broadway songs spanning over 70 years.

This roster lists full-time members of The Cleveland Orchestra. The number and seating of musicians on stage varies depending on the piece being performed. Seating within the string sections rotates on a periodic basis.
T
he Cleveland Orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director Franz Welser-Möst since 2002, is widely recognized as one of
the world’s leading ensembles. Praised by The New York Times as “America’s Finest,” the Orchestra is renowned for its virtuosity, elegance of sound, and chamber-like musical flexibility. In his 25th
and final season as Music Director, Welser-Möst concludes a transformative partnership that has been marked by exceptional artistic ambition, growing international recognition, and deep community connection. During his tenure, the Orchestra has achieved major institutional milestones, including groundbreaking residencies at the Musikverein in Vienna — the first by an American orchestra — and at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. In 2023, The Cleveland Orchestra launched the annual Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Opera & Humanities Festival, presenting acclaimed opera productions alongside art exhibits, community events, and civic conversations. Through concerts, broadcasts, recordings, tours, and digital initiatives, The Cleveland Orchestra reaches an ever-growing audience around the world. Its in-house recording label and streaming platform, Adella.live, capture and share performances from the Welser-Möst era while introducing new generations of fans to the Orchestra’s artistry. Founded by Adella Prentiss Hughes, The Cleveland Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in December 1918. Over more than a century, it has grown into a treasured community institution, enriching lives through music, education, and a deep commitment to Northeast Ohio. Today, more than 400,000 people attend Cleveland Orchestra concerts each year. From its year-round home at Severance Music Center to its summer season at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Orchestra continues to serve audiences across the region. Seven Music Directors — Nikolai Sokoloff, Artur Rodziński, Erich Leinsdorf, George Szell, Lorin Maazel, Christoph von Dohnányi, and Franz Welser-Möst — have shaped the

Guests with Pavilion seats who arrive after the start of the concert may be asked to wait outside the Pavilion until the first convenient pause in the music, after which our ushers will help you to your seats.
All Blossom Music Festival events are presented in a smoke-free environment. Smoking or vaping are not allowed anywhere on the grounds or in buildings once you have entered through the ticket gates. A smoking area is available outside the gates in a designated area of Parking Lot A.
LAWN SEATING Guests on the Lawn may bring their own chairs, but guests with high-backed chairs that obstruct others’ views may be asked to relocate to the rear of the Lawn. Rental chairs are available for a fee of $10 per evening. Tents, flags, balloons, or other structures that might obstruct views or present a hazard are not allowed. Open flames are also prohibited.
PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEOGRAPHY & RECORDING Audio recording, photography, and videography are not allowed during performances at Blossom. Photographs and videos can only be taken when the performance is not in progress. As a courtesy to others, please silence all electronic devices prior to the start of the concert.
WEATHER INFORMATION In the event of severe weather, a coordinated campus-wide alert will be issued. Guests and staff will be directed to safety by venue staff and the public address system.
