A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
GETTING READY FOR THE FUTURE— MIND, BODY, AND HEART. Welcome to Lower Canada College and the longest-standing Pre-University: Grade 12 program in Montreal. At LCC, everything we do centres around our students. Since 1909, we have built a strong foundation of academic excellence, vibrant student life, and a culture that values curiosity and resilience. Today, that legacy continues with a dynamic team of educators and a student body that is diverse, driven, and deeply engaged. Pre-University is a pivotal year—one I know well because I taught in the program for two decades—and a bridge between high school and post-secondary education. It’s a time when students seek more independence, and we provide the structure and guidance to help them navigate it with confidence. Our goal is
to nurture each student’s growth— intellectually, socially, and emotionally—so they leave here ready for the demands and opportunities of university life. Beyond the classroom, we encourage students to get involved: to lead, to serve, and to contribute. Whether through co-curricular activities, clubs or service projects, they learn that their voices matter and their actions have impact. As you go through the application process, I encourage you to explore, ask questions, and get a true sense of whether LCC is the right fit for your goals and aspirations. Out-of-province students must have acquired equivalent high school credits. Students entering the Pre-University: Grade 12 program can tailor their studies to their interests and plans for the future. The quality and scope of our program offer superb preparation for pursuing a wide range of undergraduate degrees. The in-person program is academically rigorous. Students touch on university-level material and, in addition to Pre-U courses, are encouraged to take Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Upon graduation, students receive a Pre-University: Grade 12 diploma issued by LCC. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), which allows students to qualify for university admission in Canada, the US, and, with additional standardized testing, universities all over the world. Students have access to multiple resources that will support their university research and application process. They are assigned to one academic advisor for the duration of the Pre-U year and, with their

guidance, choose six courses, including English, from an array of options. In addition to personalized university guidance, students also have access to a university research and application platform called Maia, engage in university application workshops, and attend university fairs.
Throughout the school year, PreUniversity students have the opportunity to meet with university representatives from all over the world. In recent years, Pre-University students have also attended university fairs and visited a variety of Ontario campuses.
SMALL, ACTIVE CLASSES Students benefit from seminar-style sessions, an enriched curriculum, and an average class size of 20. In this intimate learning environment, students become partners in an educational process in which they are encouraged to debate, discuss and challenge conventional thinking.
SERVICE In the tradition of liberal arts education, Lower Canada College emphasizes the importance of participating in community leadership. With this in mind, LCC’s compulsory service program encourages PreUniversity students to help those in need and to support worthy community endeavours—all in the spirit of LCC’s motto Non Nobis Solum / Not for Ourselves Alone.
AN INTEGRATED EXPERIENCE The academic year begins with university preparation workshops, orientation meetings and activities. Before classes even start, students are working on university applications, have completed some volunteer service, and are engaged in a range of leadership and social activities that serve as the foundation for the unique Pre-University community.

“Thanks to the smaller class sizes in Pre-U, I was able to create meaningful connections with my teachers and peers which made the rigorous curriculum easier to manage. Pre-U also offers a variety of courses which allowed me to curate my course list and orient my courses towards my undergraduate studies. This has prepared me very well for what’s to come in university. ATHLETICS LCC has always valued the importance of a diverse athletic program—and the Pre-University experience is no exception. Pre-University students have the choice of playing team or individual sports during the year. Some choose to compete in another year of local leagues, including the Greater Montreal Athletic Association (GMAA) interscholastic sports, the national Canadian School Sport Hockey League (CSSHL), while others take advantage of the voluntary athletics program, that may include tennis, badminton, golf and athletic training. LCC has a place for everyone to play, with top-notch athletic facilities: four gymnasia, two playing fields (including a synthetic turf field), a full fitness and weight training centre, plus indoor and outdoor ice rinks.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES Lower Canada College’s diverse club and co-curricular activities program gives students a chance to pursue special interests, develop new talents and foster their leadership potential. Our theatre arts program casts students in the spotlight to act in or direct a play, and our music program gets them tuned up for school concerts, Café Cabaret during Arts Week, or the Senior Band program. Some students prefer to find their own voice by pursuing our debating and public speaking programs. In fact, a number of Pre-University students have been members of Canada’s national debating team, while others get involved in Model UN or participate in activities related to sustainability. Students also take part in robotics and develop leadership skills by organizing new activities, peer tutoring and mentoring students of all ages.
EXCELLENT FACILITIES LCC’s seven‑acre, six‑building campus offers an intimate educational setting, rich in resources and opportunities. These are just a few highlights: • The Gold LEED‑certified Assaly Arts Centre, including a 540‑seat auditorium, a music practice room, a math wing connected to the science wing, a black box drama room, and an art room. • The Centre for Discovery (Fab Lab and design and innovation), a dynamic space where students learn to design, prototype, and create, empowering them to become makers of virtually anything, while encouraging exploration, collaboration, and sharing of ideas. • A newly renovated library offering a dynamic and flexible learning hub designed to support the evolving academic needs of today’s students. • A sound studio with video‑editing equipment. • A 184‑seat theatre equipped with large‑screen projection.

The LCC faculty is a diverse group of talented individuals with a passion for bringing learning to life and a commitment to helping students be the best they can be—in mind, body, and heart. Small class size creates a close-knit community where teachers are always available to provide support, encouragement and advice and to ensure that students are well prepared for the challenges of university and professional life. ADVISING & SUPPORT SERVICES
THE GUIDANCE TO GROW UNIVERSITY ADVISING The four academic advisors provide each student with guidance and the tools they need to apply to the university of their choice, from helping them to develop a well-organized plan to finding a study program that meets their unique needs. The academic advisors help students and parents navigate the sometimes daunting world of university admissions. They provide valuable support, such as guiding students in their Pre-University course selection, monitoring their academic progress and overseeing completion of university applications. Each year, LCC welcomes representatives from universities from around the world
to meet our students and provide valuable insight about their schools. Additionally, the academic advisors are able to provide psychometric testing for students to connect their strengths and interests with career fields and host regular workshops on a range of topics, including: university applications, admissions interview preparation, scholarships, essay writing, and transition to post-secondary living and learning. HEALTH AND COUNSELLING SERVICES Since LCC is dedicated to the overall well-being of its students, Pre-U students benefit from counselling and health services available to all

members of the LCC community. We recognize that physical and psychological health are interconnected and interdependent. Whether in the class, in the hallways, or with parents, the educational aspects of physical, social and emotional health are within the mandate of LCC’s health and counselling services. Our team approach brings together counsellors, nurses, parents, students, advisors, teachers, and other members of the community who develop a dynamic and ongoing relationship.
Lower Canada College has partnered with St. George’s University (SGU) and their Direct Entry Medical Program, creating an accelerated route from LCC’s Pre‑U program straight into medical school. By linking LCC’s rigorous academic foundation with SGU’s proven medical training, eligible students may receive a conditional offer of acceptance as early as the end of grade 11. The Pre-University: Grade 12 program offers a myriad of activities for students to explore their interests and make new friends from around the world. Pre-U is also an attractive choice for students from abroad who wish to further their education and life experience in Canada. International students have become an increasingly significant segment of the student body, enriching the cultural and social dynamics of the whole class. Pre-U students automatically become members of Webster House, exclusive to the Pre-University program, and take pride in the distinction its membership confers. The Webster House Leadership Council of Pre-U students facilitates student initiatives. Past initiatives include clothing drives, mentorship activities, supporting foster children, and working with their grade 1 buddies.
The Pre-U program may have the keys to your future, but it will create memories of a cherished past. From the moment students cross the threshold of our classrooms, they join the distinguished company of over 6,000 Lower Canada College alumni around the world. LCC’s Alumni Association, in conjunction with our advancement team, strives to keep our graduates in touch with the school and their classmates. Reunion and homecoming activities, special events such as our Alumni Hockey League Tournament, an annual dinner at the school, and gatherings in various parts of the world, make it easy for our alumni to maintain their LCC school spirit. The alumni networking site — lowercanadaconnect.ca — allows alum to reconnect, share their expertise with graduating students and younger alumni, explore career opportunities, or access talent if they have positions to fill in their workplace.

A LIFELONG RELATIONSHIP
FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS We believe that students should have access to an LCC education regardless of their financial circumstance. As a result, we rely on generous donations to provide financial aid to students in grades 7–12 who have demonstrated need. The process for granting financial aid is thorough and confidential. LCC is part of a network of schools affiliated with an arms-length organization called Financial Aid for Canadian Students (FACS) that provides a confidential analysis of a family’s financial ability to contribute toward the school’s tuition fees. A committee then uses the FACS analysis to consider all requests. The aid is considered a grant (not a loan), which is applied toward tuition fees. Since personal financial situations may vary from year to year, FACS applications are made on an annual basis.
LCC is pleased to offer a variety of merit-based scholarships to students entering grades 7–12. These scholarships have been established through private donations and by the school to recognize student achievements in academics, citizenship, leadership, arts, and athletics. The scholarships are applied toward tuition fees. In 2026–2027, LCC disbursed approximately $3.2 million in financial awards. APPLYING & ADMISSION TO THE PRE-UNIVERSITY: GRADE 12 PROGRAM LCC’s mission is to provide each applicant with a thorough and personal introduction to the Pre-University: Grade 12 program so that candidates and their families have the information they need to make a sound decision. As an applicant, you’re invited to visit the campus and meet with a member of the admissions office team. It’s our job—and our pleasure—to answer all of your questions, learn about your goals for undergraduate study and share our enthusiasm for this unique program. Our admissions office will keep you apprised of important dates and new developments (e.g., open houses, application deadlines, and 14
financial aid opportunities, and admission decisions), and welcomes your questions at any time. The application deadline to be considered for first-round admissions is mid-January and admission decisions are communicated by the end of February. Specific information about deadlines and requirements can be found at lcc.ca/applypreu. EXPERIENCE PRE-UNIVERSITY: GRADE 12 When you attend our open house you will have the opportunity to learn about Pre-University: Grade 12 from current students and administrators, and speak to our faculty directly. It’s a wonderful introduction to the program.
STUDENTS APPLYING FROM OUTSIDE THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC LCC’s Pre-University: Grade 12 program welcomes students from outside the province of Quebec and the country of Canada. We believe that students of different backgrounds enrich the overall experience of the group and add a dimension to the program that is difficult to duplicate in a typical college setting. Students who speak English as a second language (ESL) must complete some additional steps as part of the application process to ensure that they possess the requisite communication skills to be successful in the program.
