GAME NOTES

NO TIME TO WAIT: Louisville's offense has come out swinging in the frst inning this season, leading the International League with 22 runs scored while posting a .339 batting average in the opening frame. The Bats have tallied 20 hits, including eight extra-base hits and four home runs, and have reached base at a .438 clip through their frst 14 games. Louisville is one of just four teams to have a .300 or better batting average in the frst.

BATTLE OF I-65: The Bats face the Indianapolis Indians this week for the frst time in 2026. Louisville has played Indianapolis nearly 200 more times than any other opponent in franchise history, with the Indians holding the all-time series edge. The Bats have struggled at Victory Field in recent years, going 5-20 from 2023-25. With just a two-hour drive along Interstate 65 separating the two cities, Indianapolis is Louisville’s closest geographical opponent. The 2026 Bats have started to reverse that trend, winning four of the frst fve games this week to clinch a series victory at Victory Field for the frst time since 2022. That season, the Bats went 6-6 in the Circle City. Louisville has not posted a winning record for a full season at Indianapolis since 2015, when the Bats went 8-6.

RELIEVING THE PRESSURE: The Bats' bullpen has been a strength early in the 2026 season, combining for a 2.57 ERA through the frst 14 games, the lowest mark in the International League, while limiting opponents to a .230 batting average. Bats veterans Lyon Richardson and Tejay Antone have gotten off to an outstanding start in the season, with neither player giving up a run so far throughout their outings. They are the only two members of the current bullpen to not allow a run yet this season. Antone continued his strong streak on Saturday night, tossing a scoreless bottom of the ninth to fnish the win and earn the save, his frst with the Bats since 8/15/21 vs. Nashville.

CONSISTENCY FOR JJ: After going hitless in his Bats debut on 3/27, JJ Bleday has frmly inserted himself as a consistent piece in Louisville's lineup to start the season, reaching base in all 12 games he's played since the hitless debut. A new signing for the Reds organization in 2026, Bleday's fve doubles lead the Bats and are tied for third in the International League. On 4/2, he turned in a spectacular performance for the Bats, recording three doubles against Iowa. Bleday currently holds the longest hitting streak of the season for the Bats at eight games, which ended in Louisville's 5-0 loss to the Indians on 4/8.

HARDWARE FOR HINDS: Bats outfelder Rece Hinds has put together some impressive numbers at the plate to begin his 2026 season, which earned him his frst International League Player of the Week award of his career. So far, he is batting .356 (16-45) with two doubles, a triple, fve home runs, 16 RBI, and 12 runs while reaching base in all 12 games he's played. Along with his impressive stat line, Hinds has already delivered two walk-off winners, including an RBI single in the 10th inning on 3/28 against Omaha and a walk-off solo home run in the ninth in the series opener against Iowa on 3/31. On 4/1, Hinds hit two home runs against the I-Cubs, including a grand slam in the frst inning and a solo shot in the seventh, marking his 10th game with two home runs in his career. Hinds' solo homer on 4/11 at Indianapolis was his 43rd with Louisville, passing Mike Calise's 42 for sixth most in franchise history. In addition, he has the two hardest hit balls by a Bat this season, singles of 115.0 and 114.1 miles per hour on 3/27 and 3/29 vs. Omaha. Both of those singles were harder hit balls than any produced by the Bats during the 2025 season. Hinds was then named the International League's frst Player of the Week for the 2026 season, the third weekly honor of his professional career.

WBC INFIELD: Two Bats infelders competed internationally in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, as Edwin Arroyo appeared in two games for Puerto Rico, which advanced to the quarterfnals, while Ivan Johnson scored two runs while playing in all four games for Great Britain, who did not advance out of group play.

FORMER HIGH-ROUND TALENT: The Bats roster features fve former frst-round picks, including outfelder JJ Bleday (4th overall by Miami in 2019), southpaw Andrew Chafn (43rd overall by Arizona in 2011), infelder Michael Toglia (23rd overall by Colorado in 2019), infelder Michael Chavis (26th overall by Boston in 2014), and right-hander Chase Petty (26th overall by Minnesota in 2021). Bleday (Vanderbilt) and Chafn (Kent State) were selected out of college while Chavis, Toglia and Petty were drafted straight out of high school. All fve have since made their way to the big leagues, and are now teammates for the frst time here in Louisville. In addition, the Bats have six former second-round picks on their current roster. Rece Hinds (2019) and Lyon Richardson (2018) were both selected by the Reds, while Edwin Arroyo (2021), Will Banfeld (2018), Kyle Nicolas (2020), and Hagen Danner (2017) were picked by other Major League clubs.

PROSPECT RANKINGS: Louisville's current 28-man active roster features four of the Reds' Top 30 prospects according to MLB.com. They are outfelder Hector Rodriguez (No. 6), shortstop Edwin Arroyo (No. 8) and righthanded pitchers Chase Petty (No. 9) and Zach Maxwell (No. 19)
