JPIC
JPIC is our student-led social justice group which stands for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. This group is involved in social justice, environment and fundraising activities, including our annual Walkathon and Easter Raffle. JPIC is open to all year levels with a dedicated senior and junior group.
Cafe
A philosophy group that is open to all year levels Each week, there is a new topic for students to discuss along with some tea, coffee, milo and biscuits Socrates
The Loreto Lark
The Loreto Lark is a student newspaper where you can have your work published for the Loreto community to read If you are interested in writing, editing, digital editing and working with a team to create a publication for Loreto you are invited to join the Loreto Lark.
Sincerity Group
This is a student-run diversity group who offer support for LGBTQI+ students, their allies and friends. Anyone is welcome to come along.
House & Year Level Committee Groups
Each Year Level and House has their own committee which often holds meetings each week. This is a great opportunity for students to develop their leadership skills and get further involved in their House or Year Level.
LIBRARY Library Book Club
Located in the Antoinette Hayden Library which overlooks Lake Wendouree, the Library Book Club is available to all students On top of reading, the Library Book Club runs a range of activities throughout the year such as arts and crafts, movie screenings and more.
Shadow Judging Program
Open to all students, join the Library team and become involved in The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Shadow Judging Program Throughout this program, students review the CBCA Book of the Year Shortlist in the Older Reader category As one of six schools selected to participate in the program, this is a great opportunity for students to use their imagination through creative book responses and meet others passionate about reading.
3D Printers and Robotics
In the Library, we have a Maker Space which has 3D printers, VR headsets and robotics Join the IT staff on Fridays at recess and lunchtime to experiment with this fun technology
Ask IT
The IT staff hold a session in the Library Presentation Room on the 1st Wednesday every month for ‘Ask IT a question’. The idea is for students to drop in and get help with whatever they need or to learn more about different IT programs

Public Speaking
Loreto is well represented in public speaking competitions across the region with students working diligently to prepare speeches, research, memorise and deliver articulate and intelligent material.
Debating
As a team, debating allows for students to develop their research skills, enhance their oral communication skills and develop friendships along the way There are many opportunities to represent Loreto across multiple competitions
English & Maths
Help Sessions
With dedicated weekly sessions for both Years 8-10 and VCE, this is an opportunity for students to receive further assistance from our English department with on-hand support.

Many of our VCE subjects run additional support for students during lunchtime or after school This is an additional option for students seeking further assistance.
SPORT
all students Our aim is to enrich the students school life by offering a comprehensive and diverse sport program through participation in competitive and non-competitive physical activity.
The Co-Curricular Sports Program at Loreto enables students to strive for their personal best, build relationships with peers as well as staff and to develop both team building and leadership skills. We believe that active participation in sport enriches the students’ physical, mental and social health.
Run Club
Every week the Loreto Run Club heads to Victoria Park to complete a long-distance run during lunchtime with different options to suit all abilities Supported by our P E staff, this is a great opportunity to get outside, improve your running skills and meet new students.
SPIN & Circuit Classes
Held in the Weights Room, there is the opportunity for students to join in either a SPIN or Circuit class Scheduled during lunchtime and led by a member of the P.E Faculty, these classes are open to all students.

The Loreto College Ballarat Rowing Club (LCBRC) was established in 2007 Every aspect of the LCBRC aims to provide students with the greatest opportunity to grow and develop as strong, confident young women Every effort is made to ensure that all students derive enjoyment, satisfaction, fulfilment and success from participating in this sport.
With tryouts beginning in Term 3, Year 8-Year 11 students are able to try out for the rowing program The rowing season begins in Term 4 and finishes during Term 1 the following year. Prior to Term 1, all rowers attend an annual rowing camp.

Each year, the school production is a collaborative effort across all year levels and staff Previous productions have included My Fair Lady (2023), Chicago (2022), A Chorus Line (2021), Shrek (2019), Beauty and the Beast (2018), Les Misérables (2016) and Sweeney Todd (2013). Whether you would prefer to be on stage or backstage, there are many ways to be involved in one of our fun productions.
Improsports
Improsports is a variety of drama games in which students have to improvise after being given a prompt It is a lunchtime favourite, as students from each College House form junior and senior teams to compete against each other The Theatre is always full as students come to watch the competition. Queensland Music Tour
Each year, students embark on the Queensland Music Tour Students visit various communities across Queensland, particularly aged care homes The residents love seeing our students and seeing them perform. Arts Festival
Each year the Arts Festival is one the most anticipated events on th Loreto performance calendar. The are usually over 400 Loreto girls involved in this performance Audiences are amazed each year the high-quality performances presented on the evening. Our Loreto Abbey Theatre provides an opportunity for students to perform in a professional setting on stage with lights and sound
House Arts
In Term 3, each House gathers to form a performance for the House Arts competition. There are many elements of House Arts including costume design, artwork, choregraphy and singing.
Art Club
If you love art, there is a weekly opportunity to unleash your creativity within a welcoming environment. Art Club often conducts group art projects around the school.
INTERNATIONAL EXCURSIONS

NASA Space Camp
g p, students visit Washington DC, Florida and Alabama The trip is designed to promote an understanding and love of the study of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects in the students; showing girls the possibilities open to students who pursue study in these areas at a senior and tertiary level.
While in Alabama, students participate in a 5-day live-in program where students learn the history of NASA and participate in interactive astronaut training and special missions training. In Orlando, Florida, students visit the Kennedy Space Centre where they tour launch pads and inspect real rockets To conclude the study trip, students visit Washington DC where they visit the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, the Washington Monument, Arlington and the Lincoln Memorial.
INTERNATIONAL EXCURSIONS
Language Study Tours
The classroom teaching of Languages is complemented with study tours to France, New Caledonia and Japan. These tours are held on a two-year rotating cycle. Loreto College is fortunate to have established a long- term relationship with Sacred Heart, Obayashi in Hyogo and Shibuya Kyokiku Gakuen in Tokyo for Japanese. The French department has also established a relationship with a school in France.
Loreto Pilgrimage (UK and I l d)
Year 11 and Year 12 students travel to England and Ireland during the Term 1 and 2 break. Over the course of almost three weeks, students visit multiple Loreto schools in Ireland and significate sites of the Loreto story in England They also get to experience many amazing tourist and historical landmarks along the way Students form strong friendships with not only the students embarking on the Pilgrimage but also the Loreto students in Ireland
During this trip, students complete a twonight homestay with a Loreto secondary school family This Pilgrimage is an experience of a lifetime! Students look forward to wonderful learning experiences, and thoroughly enjoyable things to do and sites to see along the way.
