Atelier Nicola Baserga Redrawing of Casa Esmeralddina by Gabinete de arcquitectura. This semester our professor asked us to choose a master architect to study, with the final aim of redrawing one of his houses. I chose as my guide Solano Benitez, paraguayan architect characterized for his ability in the use of brick, versitile material, economical and easy to produce even in the poorest countries. The brick becomes the right material for an architecture that focuses more on the social problems than the form, it becomes of primary importance the way of building and not the estetichal result. Restriction in the usage of materials is the guide line durning the projectation, which is completed with structural clarity and non qualified manpower , a poor material becomes object of study to rethink traditional topics whith a modern mind, to obtain the right architecture for its time and place.
Atelier Nicola Baserga Developing of a project in the city of Serravalle. This semester we devoted our research and study to the development of a masterplan for the city of Serravalle. I chose to develope a farm in the bottom of the valley, focusing on the cows stables. My reserches lead me to discover the works of one of the gratest masters of the ‘900, Eladio Dieste. His works inspired me for their radical aproach towards the structural thinking and the society. I saw the symbol of the power of an engeneer guided by a strict program who mastered the uses of a simple material, giving power to the clarity of volumes. He created plastic facts that satisfy our spirit with the power of matematich and geometry.
Atelier Walter Angonese Redrawing of casa Rubens de Mendoรงa. This year we devoted our research and study to the great architect and engineer Joao Battista Vilanova Artigas, a prominent exponent of the Brasilian Paulista school. His buildings are all related to a precise and sustained tectonic thinking, which he succeeded in conveying in a spatial architectural concept.

For the entire history of human being farming has been the base of the economy. In the past the majority of goods where natural products and for that the men has always respected the environment, considering it his primary font of living. In modern days most of the products came from industries and the focus goes all to new technologies. Even if it is still the base of our economical system farming is taken for granted and it is absent in the everyday life. For that the men is not related to territory anymore, taking advantage of it, instead of using it. We can consider a factory outside the city, in Veneto and compare it to a Palladian Villa. They are both places of production, in which people work for a owner who pays them, but they have a different approach towards nature and the society.
Nowadays we are expanding our concept of growing: from biological mutation of seed, to plants used for the production of plastic. We are now relating the concept of farming to the energy, using systems that emulates plants taking advantage of nature. That can help us achieve the independency from fossil fuels and maybe to reconnect with nature, starting reconsidering its role. Building industrial structures in the countryside, is symbol of how our goods come from our environment, building them with respect can teach people in having a different approach to ecology and renewable energies.

Atelier Walter Angonese Marrakech-From urban structure to domestic structure
This spring semester are tackling a territory and an ancient culture that is completely and unexplored to most of us. We are working in Marrakech, a city that encompasses a series of micro-context an problems that other cities, not just those in the East, are facing. The project site is place Jamaal El Fna, a symbol of Marrakech. The design idea is to build an housing comlex that could host a traditional market on the lowest level, inspired from the lights and atmospheres of the traditional souks. My studies led my to knowk the works of Alfred Neumann, an israelian, which inspired me in the study of a mathematical system of proportions whith the aim of obtaining the right relationship of surfaces and volumes, in the everlasting research of order.

Digital Rapresentation II Redrawing of a lightohuse The course aimed to develop in students the ability to interpret, represent and design an object through the correct use of the instrument of drawing in two and three dimensional forms. It dealt with the rules, procedures and techniques which make it possible to construct a graphic model of reality in the two dimensions of the drawing so as to be accurate and universally legible.

Costruction System and Process I-II Redrawing of Mario Vacchini’s school The course was conceived as a preparation for the building project and as a conceptual reflection on the subject of construction. The different building systems, reduced to models, will be presented by retracing the radical changes they underwent last century. The students will conduct a constructional analysis involving interpretation of a theme and relating construction, space and architecture to each other.
