Remembering HMCS Esquimalt Members bow their heads as the Padre reads a prayer for individuals attending the Memorial Service for His Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) Esqumalt at the Esquimalt Cenotaph on Apr. 16. Read more on page 3. On the evening of Apr. 15, 1945, HMCS Esquimalt sailed from Halifax on an anti-submarine patrol to rendezvous with HMCS Sarnia. In the early morning of Apr. 16 the Esquimalt was attacked by U-190, a German U-boat. Fourty four men died as a result of the attack and the exposure that followed.
