16,000 attend Kelham Pride as Sheffield Labour commits to back‑ ing event while Reform cuts support elsewhere Sheffield Labour councillors have pledged to continue supporting Kelham Pride after this year’s event attracted more than 16,000 vis‑ itors, making it the biggest celebration in the event’s history. The commitment comes as Reform UK controlled councils in other parts of the country have moved to withdraw support from Pride events. In Durham, proposed funding cuts prompted a pub‑ lic fundraising campaign, with the regional Trades Union Con‑ gress stepping in to help. Meanwhile in Barnsley, the newly Re‑ form‑led council has refused to fly the Pride flag. Organisers say attendance at Kelham Pride rose from 11,500 in 2025 to more than 16,000 this year, with thousands of people com‑ ing together to celebrate Sheffield’s diverse and welcoming com‑ munities. The event also brought thousands of visitors into Sheffield, sup‑ porting local businesses, bars, cafés and independent traders across Kelham Island and Neepsend. Sheffield Labour has committed to continuing council support for Kelham Pride and extending that commitment over the next three years. ...continued on page 6
