Man shot on Christmas Day Four arrested after man shot Four men arrested have been released on bail following a shooting in Sheffield on Christmas Day that has left a young man fighting for his life.
Emergency services were called to Wilfred Drive in Darnall at 11.27pm on Wednesday, 25 December, after reports that a 20-year-old man had been shot in the chest. The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical, life-threatening condition. Detectives launched an immediate investigation and, within hours, arrested four men in connection with the incident. The suspects, aged 20, 22, 28 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody. A police cordon is still in place on Wilfred Drive, with officers maintaining a presence in the area while enquiries continue. Senior Investigating Officer, Chief Inspector Andy Knowles from the Major Crime Team, described the incident as “abhorrent”, adding

that gun crime poses a serious threat to community safety. He said: “This has left a man fighting for his life. Gun crime puts innocent people at risk of being caught up in an offender’s actions and it will not be tolerated under any circumstances. “We are committed to taking firm, decisive action against anyone who chooses to engage in violence or carry illegal firearms, but we are stronger with the support of our communities.” Police have thanked residents who have already assisted with enquiries and are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward. Officers will remain in the area and are available to speak to anyone with concerns. Anyone who would prefer not to speak directly to police can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers.
