CONCERN School Initiative Tackles Dog Poo Issue FOR SPEEDWAY STAR Y6 Students at Oughtibridge Primary School had grown increasingly concerned about the significant amount of dog waste littering the public footpaths surrounding their school.
The issue had become so prevalent that it was impacting their daily journeys to and from school.

Taking initiative, the children decided to pen a letter to Sheffield City Council, voicing their concerns and appealing for action to be taken. Their letter highlighted the negative impact the dog waste was having on their environment and overall wellbeing. the children's letter. In her response, she acknowledged their concerns and informed them that the Council had taken their appeal seriously. As a result, the Council had approved the installation of signage in the affected areas, urging dog owners to clean up after their pets.
The children were delighted to see the signs being erected around their school. In the weeks and months that followed, they noticed a marked improvement in the cleanliness of the footpaths. The reduced amount of dog waste made their walks to and from school significantly more pleasant, and they felt proud to have played a part in making a positive change in their community.
