‘off -roaders’ TRIAL MURDER

Last week, Marie Tidball MP pressed the need to tackle reckless offroad bike use to the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, in Parliament. Marie Tidball, newly elected Labour MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, highlighted to the Home Secretary that “noisy off-road bikes speed around neighbourhoods like Chapeltown, deliberately disturbing and intimidating residents.”
A sex worker accused of murdering a man said she had arranged to meet him to buy drugs, but denied killing him, reports Victoria Scheer for BBC News.
The vehicles are loud and driven too quickly, causing a danger to others, and those riding them. Mud and dirt sprays everywhere, ruining green spaces, and it’s off-putting for children and young people learning to cycle locally.
Rebecca Moore, 25, is accused of luring Sacad Ali, 24, to The Ponderosa in Sheffield on 9 March where he was fatally stabbed.
Often these are farmer’s vehicles, necessary for their work, that have been stolen.
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, pleaded guilty to murder and possessing an offensive weapon earlier this year.
In response, the Home Secretary confirmed that she plans to “strengthen the law to give police more powers to tackle the nightmare of dangerous off-road bikes”.
During Monday's hearing at Sheffield Crown Court, Ms Moore, of Springvale Walk, denied murdering Mr Ali. Continued on page 3
