‘Craft’s a Thing’. I overhead this in a queue snaking its way down Cork Street at last year’s LCW. Making has been at the core of all world cultures for millennia, so obviously craft isn’t exactly new but has been gaining popularity with more people of all ages in the twelve years since we started. The buzz last year felt a jump to a different level.
This could partly be a response to the human creativity and capacity that’s still essential to make something exceptional. I’m still in awe of the imagination and hard-won skills I see at LCW or on my travels. Plus, there’s a quiet decency and respect for processes and materials that’s shared by craftspeople from Tokyo to Birmingham that seems more special than ever.
As you can see, this year’s programme continues to be focused on that iceberg of creative talent which is mostly unsung and normally out of sight. More than ever this year that seems a timely reminder of the power of partnership and place - hundreds of events and makers and hundreds of thousands of visitors coming together for one week from around the UK & the world. The common language of beauty and sharing of knowledge that transcends thirty-five nationalities and seventy-one disciplines. A small symbol of hope in these uncertain times.
The scale of the festival isn’t a bug, but a feature designed to do justice to the depth of ingenuity and imagination of the makers and the serendipity & diversity of London. My advice is to embrace it – pick an area and combine some famous names with discovering less well-known ones.
Although there’s so much to celebrate, these are tough times, especially for independent makers and I much appreciate you, the visitors to LCW, continuing to bring your enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge in such significant numbers. Thank you.

Masterful, sustainable and eminently collectable, authentic crafts hold profound value in a world so often detached from the tangible and tactile. Such objects, deeply connected to their makers, honour cultural heritage while shaping a contemporary aesthetic, set to stand the test of time.
This May, Sotheby’s presents ‘Crafted’, a celebration of talent working across diverse media. Curated by Sotheby’s specialists, it is designed to shine a light and deepen insight into the realm of craft of all kinds. Sotheby’s will host the FiredUp4 charity auction and its ‘Secret Ceramics’ fixed-priced sale of anonymously donated pieces, to raise funds that provide ceramics classes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Intoart will present a bold display of new craft commissions alongside works from its vast collection. Intoart is a pioneering visual arts organisation championing learning disabled and autistic people as visible, equal & established artists and designers. Elsewhere in the galleries, shortlisted candidates for House & Garden’s inaugural craft prize will be exhibited and Sotheby's will present a selection of leading commercial galleries showcasing the most exciting fine crafts being made today.

Curating is an utterly personal passion, which Jonathan Anderson now channels into a re-articulated JW Anderson. This refined world is centred on objects of elevated craftsmanship: curated fashion collections alongside homeware, artisanal goods and the very idea of collecting. A modern-day cabinet of curiosities.
Products are crafted in collaboration with artists and artisans, with a commitment to sourcing skilled craftsmen and the finest materials. With an emphasis on traceable origins and elevated materials, each piece is designed to stand the test of time, to honour traditional skills, and reflect who Jonathan is today.
Each JW Anderson space absorbs and reflects its surroundings, imbued with the new vision of the brand. The JW Anderson Soho store was reimagined, developed by architects Sanchez Benton to bring this vision to life: a grammar of warm materials embodying the feeling of the handmade and beautifully crafted.
The new JW Anderson Pimlico Road store similarly aligns with its new surroundings of antique stores, design boutiques and homeware specialists. In an environment of timeless design, Home and Garden sits at the heart of the store, accompanied by a selection of Ready-to-Wear, Shoes and Accessories. In keeping with the brand ethos and this environment, there is an emphasis on art, with works by acclaimed artists such as Kira Freije, Gwen John and Robert Kulicke available to purchase.
Extending from their commitment to craft, JW Anderson will host an event in collaboration during London Craft Week on 13 May. Event details will be announced online.

The Pimlico Road is a world-renowned design destination located in the heart of Belgravia, known for luxury interiors, expertly sourced antiques, and high-end craftsmanship.
This storied street is lined with British interior showrooms such as Soane Britain, Jamb, Rose Uniacke, and Robert Kime, each offering oneof-a-kind pieces, collections, and expert advice for interior decorators and discerning clients.
At the heart of The Pimlico Road is Newson’s Yard, a beautifully restored historic timber yard dedicated to craftsmanship and design. It is home to showrooms Nina Campbell, Modernity, Flora Soames, And Objects, Plain English, and The Lacquer Company, alongside modern British restaurant Wildflowers, run by highly acclaimed chef Aaron Potter.
Recently, The Pimlico Road has welcomed a wave of exciting new openings, with leading names in the industry choosing the original home of design for their first-ever showrooms. JW Anderson has unveiled a curated emporium where fashion, artworks, and homeware converge. Nearby on neighbouring Ebury Street, Matilda Goad debuted her inaugural store, MG&Co., showcasing the brand’s distinctive lighting, hardware, and homeware collections. British brand Corston Architectural Detail has also opened its first dedicated London flagship, presenting its handcrafted lights, switches, and sockets.
Further enriching the area, Flora Soames, known for exquisite fabrics, has launched her first bricks-and-mortar space—an intimate kiosk at the entrance to Newson’s Yard—featuring her signature fabrics, wallpaper, cushions, and lampshades.
Since 2016, the Pimlico Road Series has played a key role in London Craft Week, hosting inspiring talks, interactive workshops, and designermaker presentations that celebrate craft and creativity.

Soane invites craft advocates to a paid talk exploring the ethical sourcing of rattan for furniture manufacturing. Professor Bill Baker of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, joins Lulu Lytle to discuss traceability, biodiversity, and the future of this complex material. Proceeds will support the renovation of Kew’s Palm House project.

As London Craft Week unfolds, the city once again becomes a meeting point for some of the most compelling voices in contemporary craft. It is also a moment to reflect on London’s ongoing contribution to a global conversation—one that the LOEWE FOUNDATION has long engaged with through the Craft Prize and its wider programme.
Over the years, a number of artists connected to London— whether by origin, practice or affinity—have been recognised by the Prize, contributing to a scene that continues to shape how craft is understood today: rooted in tradition, yet constantly redefined through new materials, contexts and ideas.
Among this year’s finalists, Xanthe Somers and Jobe Burns offer two distinct perspectives emerging from Londonbased practices. Somers works with ceramics to explore the emotional and political dimensions of domestic labour, drawing on postcolonial narratives and reimagining processes such as weaving and cloth-making to bring overlooked histories into focus. Burns, by contrast, engages with industrial materials and processes, reflecting on the legacy of labour in the West Midlands. His work bridges artisanal knowledge and large-scale production, inviting a reconsideration of value, authorship and making.
While their work is rooted in the UK, both artists are part of a wider international dialogue. This is reflected in the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026, opening at the National Gallery Singapore (13 May – 14 June), where their works will be shown alongside a global selection of finalists. Together, they offer a snapshot of a practice that is at once local and expansive— deeply connected to place, yet resonating far beyond it.

The Embassy of Italy in the United Kingdom and ICE Agenzia – the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion and internationalisation of Italian companies, in collaboration with CONFARTIGIANATO presents “Benfatto. Excellence in Craftsmanship between Art, Material and Time” - an exhibition dedicated to outstanding Italian craftsmanship.
The exhibition is based on the idea that high-level craftsmanship is not merely production but a living culture. Not simply an object, but a story. Not just technique, but vision. The exhibition journey evokes the sensory dimension of craftsmanship: the gentle sound of tools, the scent of worked wood, the resistance of stone, the ductility of metal, the softness of leather, the silent vibration of fabric. Each piece thus becomes a tangible testimony to a profound dialogue between technical expertise, artistic sensibility and material culture.
“Benfatto” presents a journey dedicated to the creative explorations of Italian master artisans, interpreters of diverse languages, themes and styles, yet united by a common denominator: the excellence of Made in Italy. Particular attention is given to new materials, research, innovation and sustainability - elements that define the evolution of contemporary craftsmanship today.
The exhibition brings together 18 brands and approximately 45 works, selected to represent the value of contemporary Italian craftsmanship by showing how it can combine tradition and innovation, material culture and sustainability, quality and international vision. In an increasingly competitive global landscape, Italian know-how continues to stand out for its creativity, strong identity, and ability to evolve without losing its roots.

Uncover how traditional craft skills adapt and transform within an urban and multicultural metropolis in this inaugural showcase of Singaporean craft practitioners by the National Heritage Board Singapore.
The showcase offers a snapshot of Singapore’s evolving craft landscape, one shaped as much by memory and heritage as by experimentation and contemporary design. Craft techniques passed down through generations are reinterpreted: forms shift, materials are reconsidered, and everyday objects take on new meaning. At the heart of this showcase are stories of migration, trade, family, and community, and responses to present day questions about sustainability, relevance, and identity. In Singapore, where cultures intersect and space is renegotiated, craft becomes both anchor and catalyst for change.
Throughout the week, practitioners will share their processes through talks, demonstrations, and workshops, inviting visitors to encounter not just finished works, but the thinking and making behind them.
This debut presentation invites you to see Singapore’s craft traditions not as relics of the past but as living practices that continue to grow, transform, and speak to the world today.

Soluna Fine Craft, the craft label of Soluna Art Group, presents a curated selection of works that foreground the aesthetic sensibilities and material experimentation shaping contemporary Korean craft. Working across a range of materials, the artists explore a universal visual language while maintaining a distinctly Korean perspective attuned to the present moment.
This year marks Soluna Art Group’s fourth year of participating in London Craft Week. The exhibition will be held at St George Street Gallery in the heart of Mayfair, running from 8–17 May. Participating artists include Kyouhong Lee (glass), Woosun Cheon (metal), Choi Keeryong (glass), Dahye Jeong (horsehair), and Yaerin Pyun (ceramics), presented alongside emerging artists newly introduced to London audiences.
Titled Origin of Materials, the exhibition proposes that the origin of materiality lies not in the substance itself, but in the artist. The ways in which materials are handled, and the time devoted to bringing each work into being, reflect the environments in which artists live and the attitudes that inform their practice. Materiality, therefore, arises not solely from the inherent properties of clay, glass, or metal, but from the depth of thought and sensibility brought to them. Through this process, a subtle sense of Korean identity emerges, shaped by lived experience and cultural context. Alongside the exhibition, this year’s programme will also explore new and engaging dialogues through collaborations with fashion and design, opening further conversations around material, form, and contemporary craft, ultimately suggesting that materiality is not simply a matter of substance, but of thought.

Woven Shade is a story of Thai folk art and craft which connects hands and material, past and present, Thailand and Britain. Created for London Craft Week, the showcase draws inspiration from the craft of Lamphun in Northern Thailand, where generations of artisans have shaped natural fibres into objects for daily life.
At the heart of the work is the form of the hat, an object of shelter, labour, and identity. In Thai agricultural communities, woven hats protect farmers from the sun, while in Britain, hats carry their own language of ceremony and social tradition. Though shaped by different climates and histories, both cultures share a deep relationship with craft as a reflection of living.
Textile and cultural design specialist Namfon Laistrooglai and her team reinterpret traditional Thai folk craft techniques into contemporary forms. Natural materials are bent, interlaced, and layered, allowing structure to emerge through rhythm and repetition. The woven surfaces filter light and cast shadows, creating a quiet sense of movement like breath, like wind through fields.
The showcase invites viewers to consider weaving not only as a technique, but as a metaphor. Each crossing fibre suggests dialogue; each constructed form holds memory. Through making, distant geographies feel closer.
Presented at London Craft Week, the Woven Shade celebrates craftsmanship as a universal language, one that binds cultures through material, gesture, and the enduring beauty of the handmade.

This exhibition highlights the ‘Reduced-Pigment Lustre’ technique used by Mark Campden which dates back as far as 9th century Abbasid Iraq. London Craft Week is extremely grateful for the support of its sponsors and partners without whom our festival would not be possible. The shared passion for craft and generosity of our new sponsors, Sotheby’s and JW Anderson, are critical to London Craft Week’s ongoing success and we offer them sincere thanks. Sotheby’s generosity extends to hosting key charity partners FiredUp4 and Intoart at their Bond Street galleries as part of their extensive programme of worldclass exhibitions, workshops and talks. This large-scale craft takeover is a first for an auction house and we thank them for so fully embracing LCW. JW Anderson’s renewed focus on exceptionally crafted objects, curation and collecting is driven by a shared curiosity in making and dedication to makers, which reveals itself in new and exciting ways during LCW. We also celebrate the continuity of over ten years of Grosvenor’s generous support for The Pimlico Road Series. This partnership has enabled the largest and most ambitious series to date, showcasing best-in- class interiors and design across 20 brands that call this key destination home. It has been a joy to collaborate with the teams behind this year's sponsors, and we extend our thanks to every individual who has contributed to our most ambitious festival yet, celebrating the best in human creativity.
