The St. Louis Post-Dispatch recently reported that St. Louis was again named one of the top 10 most "literate cities" in the U.S. In a survey by Central Connecticut State University, St. Louis tied for the No. 9 spot with Portland, Ore. Washington D.C. was first, followed by Seattle, Wash. This year, St. Louis gained ground in the bookseller category and was rated second to Seattle in number of bookstores per capita. Speaking of St. Louis, a new report from online coupon aggregator Coupons.com calls St. Louis the 4th most frugal city in the nation. The rankings, which looked at cities with a population of 300,000 or more, is based on a city’s total coupon savings and coupon users relative to the city’s size. Atlanta holds the No. 1 spot as residents there are nearly 10 times more likely to use coupons than the average U.S. consumer.
