The new site features new, easier-to-use navigation – You’ll be able to find what you need quickly and easily through the navigation and streamlined content including a more direct link to social media. The website will also be constantly updated and enhanced, adding more helpful information and increasing its mobile functionality. In short order, you’ll also be able to easily complete tasks on-the-go with our mobile-friendly version of the site. A calendar will also be integrated so you can easily plan for upcoming campus events and activities. LOGAN’S SUMMER OF CARDINAL FUN (RUN) CONTINUES! The Logan Chiropractic Health Centers Marketing Department recently received an invitation to participate in the Cardinals Care 6K Run at Busch Stadium on September 18. In addition, Logan interns will be offering stretching and soft tissue to the athletes. The St. Louis Cardinals charity organization, Cardinals Care, organized a 6K run last year in honor of baseball Hall-of-Famer Stan Musial. This is the second year for the race and the Cardinals Care organization is hoping to triple the number of runners from last year. The run takes place on Sunday, September 18, beginning at 8:06 a.m. outside of gate 3 by the Stan Musial statue and winds around the streets of downtown St. Louis. The race ultimately ends at home plate on the field in Busch Stadium. To run in this event, each runner must commit to fundraising a minimum of $150 which goes directly to the Cardinals Care organization for the kids of St. Louis. Logan College of Chiropractic will be fully sponsoring four runners for this amazing event! In order to be entered into the raffle for one of these four spots, all interested students, faculty and staff members must email Jennifer Reed at jennifer.reed@logan.edu by the end of day on August 3. The entire sponsorship fee of $150 will be paid entirely by Logan for the four lucky winners! In addition, Logan will also assist 25 additional runners by paying $25 of the $150 sponsorship fee. On August 4, all of the names of the winners will be drawn. Those individuals who win the drawing will be contacted with more information about registration instructions and deadlines for participation. OTHER NEWS FROM IN AND AROUND THE CAMPUS Thanks to Director of Student Services James Paine and Robert Powell, director of sports and activities and the forty plus students who traveled to Joplin, Mo. Saturday, July 30 as part of the community relief effort to help this devastated city clean-up and rebuild from the May 22 tornado that struck it. The trip was organized by the Office of Student Services in collaboration with the Student Doctors Council and in partnership with the American Red Cross and the United Way of Missouri, respectively. The Logan College Alumni Association would like to welcome Dr. Kim Hartmann as its new Alumni Director. Congratulations to Logan faculty member Dr. Patrick Montgomery who has been named President-Elect of the Missouri State Chiropractic Association for a one-year term. Dr. Montgomery will then serve a two-year term as MSCA president. Congratulations also to Cheri and Brett Winchester, an April 2003 Logan graduate and part-time faculty member, on the July 27 birth of their son Wade Thomas, who arrived at 7 ½ pounds and joins his sister Grace in the family. Cheri is an account supervisor at Common Ground Public Relations, which assists Logan in the development of The Tower, Logan Speaks and annual report publications. Hats off to students in Dr. Maxine Stewart's Trimester 7 geriatrics class for their excellent effort to complete an in-depth, yet time-consuming assignment. Dr. Stewart appreciates all of the students who made a sincere effort and went above and beyond expectations, considering their intense course load. Kudos to Registrar Alva Rozar’s granddaughter Courtney Lauer, age 12, who sold her home-made jewelry to raise $466 for the Karen Weidinger Foundation, a St. Charles-based 501(c)3 charity that raises money to assist breast cancer patients with medical expenses that are not normally covered by insurance. APPLIED KINESIOLOGY CLUB MEETS TUESDAY, AUGUST 2 The Applied Kinesiology Club will meet Tuesday, June 28 at 11:05 a.m. in room G40. Dr. Katharine Conable, associate professor in the Chiropractic Science division, will teach the Tuesday meetings of the A.K. club, beginning with the most basic basics of A.K. Through the trimester, videos of Dr. Goodheart telling his stories of the early discoveries in AK and patient management clinical pearls will be shown. Tuesday’s meeting affords an opportunity to practice these and more advanced AK skills with the help of club officers and experienced club members. All trimester students are welcome to these hands-on workshops. No previous experience required. Learn to evaluate muscle function with scientific precision and to use muscle responses as functional neurological feedback. Gain certainty on your ability to correct postural deviations and to identify subluxations. Learn simple manual methods of optimizing muscle function to prevent injury and help adjustments hold. NEXT CHESTERFIELD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MUSICAL CONCERT IS AUGUST 2 A FREE summer tradition continues this June as the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce once again presents its concert series in Faust County Park on Tuesday evenings. Every Tuesday night, Faust Park comes alive with concert goers, food, dancing and of course, the sounds of the best toe-tapping live music around! The August 2 concert series will feature Sound Judgment. All concerts and parking are free of charge. The park opens at 5:15 p.m. with pre-concert entertainment for children provided by the city of Chesterfield Parks Department and art projects courtesy of Chesterfield Arts.
