A memoir writing workshop with Natalie Stockdale – a Big Sky Publishing author who has spent decades living and working in rural and regional Australia.
There is something remarkable that happens when people begin to write their life stories. They discover – often for the first time – that what they lived through matters.
Your Story Matters is a practical, warm, and deeply enjoyable half-day workshop designed for people who have never written before. Participants leave with a written scene from their own life – the beginning of their memoir.

Join the NBN Co team for an informative session focused on building connectivity literacy and sharing the latest network upgrade updates for the Gatton and Laidley communities.
Each session, delivered by NBN Co representatives, will provide a practical overview of:
• What connectivity means in everyday terms and why it matters for communities, businesses and essential services;
• An explanation of different network types and how they support digital access and reliability;
• Recent and upcoming nbn network upgrades in the region; and
• What these upgrades mean locally, including expected benefits, timeframes, and next steps.
The session is designed to be clear, accessible, and informative, with opportunities to ask questions directly of the NBN Co team and gain a better understanding of local connectivity improvements.

Hearing Australia will visit the Gatton and Laidley Libraries to conduct free* 20 minute hearing checks for interested adults over 18.
A hearing check is a quick and easy way to help identify if your hearing might not be as sharp as it used to be. Not everyone who is experiencing problems hearing may need a hearing aid. Sometimes people might just need support listening to the TV at normal volumes, hearing at noisy social events or hearing friends and family on the phone.

Messy Play in the Library* Under
Let’s have some fun and get a little messy in the Library! We will set up some stations for you and your little ones to play, with something for all ages! Sensory play can involve a variety of activities that stimulate different senses, like touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing. The activities will help kids build imagination, social skills, and problem-solving abilities all while having loads of fun!
Allergen Alert: Our activities can feature rice, play dough, feathers, cornflour, cocoa powder, chia seeds, plain flour, spaghetti, vinegar, shaving cream and bubble mix. Remember bring a water bottle.

Light Horse Art

These paintings were inspired by true stories from original sources of the Australian Light Horse. Even amid the ghastliness of a battlefield, something so supremely beautiful can be found – the wonderful, powerful, mysterious relationship between man and horse, and between man and his fellow man – even sometimes his enemy!
Beyond the Brushstrokes: A Visual Collaboration
Susan Butler, Linda Senjov and Sharon Ross 26 June – 16 August
This exhibition will present the audience with a collaborative, original and coherent display of artworks produced by three emerging artists. The trio draws inspiration from their surroundings, including the Lockyer Valley and their travel adventures both in Australia and beyond, exploring the dynamic relationship between nature, landscape and the built environment, together with history and tradition.
Perspectives
High Schools of the Lockyer Valley 21 August – 11 October
Featuring a diverse range of artwork, viewers are invited to perceive the works through the eyes of a teenager growing up in the Lockyer Valley. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes challenging, the works demonstrate student responses to, and their interpretation of, the places, people and politics they encounter.
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am – 4pm. Closed public holidays.

A free Justice of the Peace (JP) service is available at Gatton and Laidley Libraries each week. JPs and Cdecs are trained volunteers who can witness and certify your documents including copies, affidavits, statutory declarations and enduring documents.

Seed Library
Using your Library card, you can borrow seeds to plant in your garden. Once your plants have grown, save some seeds and return them to the Library so others can join the fun! You can also help us replenish our seed library by donating seeds from your garden for others to grow and enjoy.
