Frances’ latest title The Accidental Publican tells the story of her unexpected move to Charleville from Brisbane and her time as publican of the Corones pub –‘The Taj Mahal on the Warrego’.
About the Author: Frances writes non-fiction books with a narrative flair. Her stories trace the people and experiences that have had an impact on her and others. She believes in understanding where we have been to know where we are going, and why.

The Great Duck Hunt

A quacking good time for everyone! Join the Great Duck Hunt in parks across the Lockyer Valley – there are three different ways to win.
Find a duck around the Lockyer Valley and bring it to the library to receive your reward – a $10 gift card. You can adopt your duck and receive an adoption certificate.
If you find a Duck into the Library card instead, return the card to the library to win a runner up prize. You can also go into the draw to win a $50 gift card if you snap a photo of a Discover a Duck sign in one of 12 Lockyer Valley Parks. Visit the library and show your photo to library staff to enter the draw. Each park has a different sign, visit the 12 parks and get 12 chances.

Bring your devices and technology questions to our digital literacy sessions. These are open question sessions with no set topics. Sessions are suitable for Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Oh MG

Oh MG is a celebration of community and storytelling while raising awareness for the rare disease Myasthenia Gravis which the artist was diagnosed with in 2021. When you visit Oh MG you will see a vibrant and beautiful wall drape comprised of over 2600 crocheted snowflakes from donations all across Australia, a collection of snowflake sculptures created from up-cycled medication bottles collected from MG sufferers nationwide and a series of vibrant abstract portraits telling the stories of those with MG. This exhibition is a celebration of community and the power of art as advocacy.
Light Horse Art

These paintings were inspired by true stories from original sources of the Australian Light Horse. Although the setting is war, these paintings are about relationships. Even amid the ghastliness of a battlefield, something so supremely beautiful can be found – the wonderful, powerful, mysterious relationship between man and horse, and between man and his fellow maneven sometimes his enemy!
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am - 4pm. Closed public holidays.

A free Justice of the Peace (JP) service is available at Gatton and Laidley Libraries each week. JPs and Cdecs are trained volunteers who can witness and certify your documents including copies, affidavits, statutory declarations and enduring documents.
If you are a JP / Cdec and would like to volunteer your time, please contact the library via email at library@lvrc.qld.gov.au.
