Ron Bolt

Loch Gallery is thrilled to present a new collection of paintings by Ron Bolt. Centred around the artist’s continual exploration of the Canadian wilderness, this latest series captures the complex interplay between light, water, and rugged shorelines. Through his deep engagement with the natural world, Bolt balances instinct with careful consideration, allowing each painting to evolve through reflection and response.
In his own words, Bolt describes his approach to the collection:
Three interconnected elements are necessary to create Art: Emotion, Intellect, Craft.
Questions arise. Why was I so emotionally excited by a particular interaction with the natural world? Can I remove or add elements to clarify that experience? How am I to deal with the changes and challenges that the image demands as it unfolds? I have been asking these questions for close to sixty years. That’s why artists never retire.
