Europa Super Circus brings high-flying international acts to Lloydminster TAYLOR WEAVER ..................................
The Europa Super Circus brought its blend of comedy, aerial acrobatics and high-octane stunts to Lloydminster from Aug. 6 to 9 as part of its second annual North American tour. The visiting production features an international ensemble of performers hailing from Canada, France, Portugal, Ireland and the United States. Show highlights include comedy clowns, Europa Super Circus ringmaster Looffy gets the show going on contortionists, high-flying aerialists Friday, Aug. 7, in Lloydminster. Taylor Weaver Meridian Source and two freestyle motocross (FMX) and operations manager — who also performs in the show alongside his wife stunt riders. Geoffrey Berhault, the circus’s owner — said the production offers a unique, all-ages experience that goes beyond traditional circus expectations. “We try to do something extreme in the show,” Berhault said. “It’s not only for kids — it’s for adults, too.” Now in its second season after debuting last year in Quebec, the circus FALL kicked off its current tour in British Columbia this March before making its REGISTRATION + INFORMATION way into Alberta and Saskatchewan. Viewpoint Leave it to Weaver It’s CPCA finals weekend! The time has come. A new Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) champion will be crowned this weekend at Onion Lake Cree Nation. Heading into finals weekend, Danny Ringuette leads the standings with 959 points. Brad McMann sits close behind at 948, while Calvin Fiddler holds third place with 837.5 points. Races began last night at the Onion Lake rodeo grounds and the five-day event wraps up with final heats on championship Sunday. Who are you backing to win? Ringuette is no stranger to championship Sunday, having claimed the title in Lloydminster in 2023. The victory marked his first Canadian championship and undoubtedly left him hungry for a repeat. For nearly a decade, Gupta has provided warranty service work for major manufacturers including Samsung, LG and Hisense. With the new shop, LloydFix is expanding its offerings to include non-warranty repairs for cellphones, laptops and other personal electronics, covering screen replacements, battery repairs and data recovery for brands like Apple and Samsung. Gupta added that he hopes to secure official cellphone warranty authorization in the future. Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers attended the opening and welcomed the addition to the local business community. “Having a repair shop available in our community adds to the mix,” Aalbers said. “We welcome new businesses each and every day to our community because they see the value of being in Lloydminster.” Aalbers highlighted the broader benefits of local electronics repair, pointing out that extending the life of everyday tech helps reduce electronic waste in local infrastructure. “Anytime we can lessen our demands on our landfill, it means value to the taxpayer,” Aalbers said. “Landfills are a public service. If we can save money from that perspective and recycle electronics, it’s huge.” Aalbers also noted an overall “air of optimism” in the local economy, citing strong activity in the oil and gas sector alongside good conditions for agriculture as the region heads into harvest.

Kiwanis honours Fatal Highway 16 crash long-time treasurer near Marshall leaves 78-year-old dead MERIDIAN SOURCE STAFF ..................................
A 78-year-old woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Marshall, Sask., on Monday afternoon. Maidstone RCMP responded to a report of a crash involving an SUV and a car at the intersection of Highway 16 and Range Road 3273, west of Marshall, at about noon on Aug. 10. The driv er and sole occu pant of the SUV, a 78-year-old woman from Kiwanis Club of Lloydminster incoming president Maidstone, was pronounced dead Jamie Brown (left) presents Shari Klenk with an award for at the scene by emergency medical serving as the club’s treasurer for 10 years. Submitted services. Police said her family has been notified. The driver of the car, who was also the sole occupant, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. While officers were managing traffic and responding to the initial crash, a second collision occurred nearby on Highway 16 involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle. EMS evaluated the individuals involved at the scene and no serious injuries were reported. The driver of the truck received a ticket for following too closely. Highway 16 was temporarily closed to traffic but reopened. Maidstone RCMP and a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist are continuing to investigate the cause of the initial crash.

VALERIE EVELYN MARSHALL Valerie Evelyn Marshall was born on October 18, 1965, in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. She passed away peacefully in the early morning on Thursday, July 30, 2026, with her daughter Kassidey by her side. She leaves behind countless cherished memories that will be treasured forever by all who knew and loved her. Valerie had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. One of the ways she most often expressed her love was through cooking, and nothing brought her more joy than gathering family and friends around the table. Her favorite meal to prepare was a traditional roast beef dinner, and her homemade soups were lovingly made and fondly remembered by everyone fortunate enough to enjoy them. She had an eye for beauty and found happiness in the simple things that made life special. Valerie loved plants and flowers, enjoyed dressing up and could often be heard singing. Her warmth, creativity and appreciation for beauty brightened the lives of those around her. She loved to laugh and her laughter was contagious. From childhood throughout her life, Valerie had a deep love for animals. She cherished many special companions, including a calf named Brindle, a duck named Gonzo and a Shetland pony named Salute. She often shared memories of growing up in the country—memories she held close throughout her life. She took great pride in where she came from and in her family name and heritage. Her gentle heart and
compassion for animals reflected the kindness she carried within her. She is remembered by: her children, Sommer Bye (Matthew) and Kassidey Smale (Rick); mother, Evelyn Marshall; and siblings, Jacqueline Andre, Marlin Marshall, Ronda Shumyla, Cameron Marshall, Sylvia Marshall and Gina Foy. Her memory and spirit will live on through her daughters and in the lives of her granddaughters, Marlo and Blake. Dana Meeres was especially important to Valerie. His friendship, kindness and devoted care were a tremendous source of comfort throughout her journey, and she truly treasured the bond they shared. One of their most cherished recent memories was a trip to Cold Lake, where she found peace by the water, enjoyed the beauty of nature, and created lasting memories with someone she cared for deeply. She will also be dearly missed by her extended family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Valerie will be remembered for her hardworking nature, her generous heart, her loving spirit, her wonderful home-cooked meals, and the joy she found in caring for others. Though she is no longer with us, her love, kindness and the beautiful memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. “Those we love don’t go away. They are always near our hearts every day, unseen, unheard.” In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to honor Valerie are invited to plant a tree or flowers in her memory. A Memorial Service for Valerie will be held at a later date. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.

Onion Lake RCMP search for Fabian ‘Sonny’ Stanley MERIDIAN SOURCE STAFF ..................................
Onion Lake RCMP is asking the public for help locating a 40-year-old man wanted on outstanding warrants. Police say Fabian “Sonny” Stanley failed to comply with an undertaking and missed a court appearance related to sexual assault charges dating back to March 2024. Stanley is described as six-foot-three and 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Police say Stanley is known to travel to the Frog Lake, Alta., area, though his current location is unknown. Members of the public are advised not to approach Stanley if seen, but to report any sightings or information immediately to local police or RCMP by calling 310-RCMP.
