What kitchen gizmo is the star of your Thanksgiving feast preparations?

“Hard to choose one! I would have to say my Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine. While it is not necessarily involved in my prep (but it does help get the morning started), anytime we have guests over for a big celebration, few can say no to an afterdinner espresso from this beautifully designed Australian shrine to coffee.”

“My Thanksgiving MVP is my PowerXL SmartSynx Dual Door Oven—it has every preset imaginable and lets me cook two dishes separately but finish them at the same time. I can roast a turkey in one oven while baking pumpkin spice shortbread in the other, without the flavours mingling.”

“My KitchenAid hand mixer is my Thanksgiving gamechanger. I always make two versions of mashed potatoes, one classic and one dairy-free, so having a tool that can whip up both quickly and smoothly is essential. It saves me time, keeps the texture light and fluffy, and on a day when every burner and inch of counter space is in use, its versatility and efficiency make all the difference. It’s the little things that keep the big meal running smoothly.”

Giving anks For All We Have
It always feels as if the end of summer comes in a rush—one day it’s blue skies and hot days, and the next, the leaves have turned. This season is no different, but I’m grateful that it’s filled with celebrations, milestones and inspiring collaborations.
We began with TIFF, where we were thrilled to participate for the second year. From screenings and red-carpet events to behind-thescenes magic, the festival has been nothing short of inspiring. Immersing ourselves in such a world-class event sparks so many ideas, and we love sharing those experiences with you.
Excitement carried us straight to our annual Living Luxe celebration at the elegant Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex, where clients, friends and family gathered for an evening of laughter, connection and gratitude. It was a beautiful celebration of creativity, collaboration and community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supports us and to my amazing team and collaborators who brought the evening to life.
In addition to celebration, this season has also been about giving back. We were thrilled to be the media sponsor for Bravery Bash, which raised more than $20,000 for the SickKids Foundation, Porridge for Parkinson’s, Tycos Drive Trade Day, the Untucked Golf Tournament benefiting the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and NIICO’s Let’s Swing for Kids. It was a joy not only to contribute to these causes but also to join in on some golfing fun while making a difference.
Another special moment was joining my co-chair, Marialisa De Gasperis, and our dedicated committee for the SickKids Foundation cheque presentation, where we were honoured to present more than $110,600 raised from this year’s City Couture Gala.
In this issue, we celebrate our Living Luxe Award winners, all of whom embody talent, passion and excellence. Looking ahead, nominations for next year are already open, and I encourage you to put forward yourself or someone you admire through our website: livingluxedesignshow.ca.
On a personal note, I had a great time at our team potluck meal this fall. With our growing, diverse team, it’s always a joy to share food, discover new dishes and connect through the stories that come with them.
And finally, we have big news: On October 16th, we’ll announce our expansion plans and will reveal exciting updates about the 2026 Living Luxe Design Show presented by JennAir and made possible by the support of our wonderful sponsors, exhibitors and community.
As always, thank you for being part of this journey with us.

e Art of Optimism
Dear Reader,
I’m welcoming in this autumn issue with a cold. It’s your basic Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail type ailment—tissues scattered everywhere, slowly becoming one with the sofa, and ignoring the endless abyss of my inbox in favour of trashy TV and romance novels.
Luckily, like Meg Ryan and her corporate-minded bookseller (played by Tom Hanks), I have someone to take care of me, and the aroma of the chicken and rice soup my fiancé is making is wafting my way, served up along with a steady stream of Emergen-C, tissues and the appropriate amount of sympathy for my pathetic state.
I must confess, while it’s never fun to be sick, I am secretly enjoying a bit of time to relax. The escape from my to-do list and being constantly on the go feels downright decadent, and it’s made me reflect on how we carve out time to rest. I’ve always been the type of person who does the things I have to do before the things I want to do—work before play, the bad news before the good, and so on. It looks good on paper, but the older I get, the longer my to-do list becomes. Nowadays, it’s a black hole of endless things around the house, appointments to be made and unanswered texts I’ve been meaning to respond to. And of course, the ever-present question in the back of my mind: what should I make for dinner? And here we are: in a world where a cold feels like an indulgence. So once my nose stops running, I will vow to make more time for rest and to prioritize the want-tos just as much as the have-tos.
From the outside, Thierry Guetta might appear to be the antithesis of this point. The 59-year-old street artist, better known by the name Mr Brainwash, creates at a nearly frenzied pace; so much so that he tells me he sleeps only a few hours a night and even while he dreams, it’s in service of his art. Not exactly the poster child for rest and relaxation. Except that he sees the world in such a beautiful and contagiously positive light that it’s impossible not to wonder where he finds his impenetrable state of serenity. In him, I see that rest and peace can look different from what we tend to imagine; instead of spa nights or massages, maybe these things can also be found in giving grace to ourselves and the world around us, in finding beauty even in imperfections and difficult times, in exploring our own bounds of creativity and seeing the art in everything. Maybe it can be found by embracing a childlike sense of wonder that allows us to ask big questions and be led by seemingly impossible what-ifs. It’s certainly the case for Mr Brainwash, whose way of looking at the world has launched him to the forefront of the contemporary art scene.
I’m coming to terms with the fact that I will never cross everything off my to-do list, and that I don’t need to wait until I do to feel at peace. I’m taking a page from my new friend Mr Brainwash to find joy and creativity in small everyday moments. And I’m striving to find peace in small things—a beautiful sunset, laughter with friends, or maybe just sitting down with a cup of coffee and a magazine for a few minutes on a busy morning. So, while I fervently hope this issue does not find you on the sofa with a box of tissues and a bad case of the sniffles, I do hope you’re taking time to rest, slow down and see the beauty all around you.
Wishing you and yours a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving.

RHINOPLASTY ACROSS THE DECADES
From high school to the golden years, when is the best time for rhinoplasty surgery?
Rhinoplasty remains one of the most soughtafter cosmetic procedures, appealing to both men and women across a wide age spectrum— from the mid-teens to those in their 70s. But is there an “ideal” decade of life to undergo this transformative surgery? Dr. Philip Solomon MD, FRCSC, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgeon, practising Facial Plastic Surgery in Toronto, discusses the considerations of rhinoplasty at every age.
By Dr. Philip Solomon & Nancie Heiber
Dr. Philip Solomon MD, FRCSC

The Teen Years
Adolescence can be an excellent time to consider rhinoplasty. By around age 15 (girls) and 16 (boys), the nose has typically completed its growth, making surgical refinement safe to proceed with. This stage of life is particularly formative, and enhancing the nasal shape can significantly bolster selfconfidence and self-esteem. That said, it is essential that young patients pursue rhinoplasty with realistic expectations— aiming to refine their nasal features rather than completely change them. One advantage of undergoing rhinoplasty in the teenage years is the opportunity to enjoy the results for decades to come. Teenage patients may choose to do the procedure over holidays or during the transition from high school to college or university. This allows young patients to start the next chapter of their lives with increased confidence and a new nasal shape.
The Twenties
For many, the 20s represent a period of new beginnings: completing higher education, launching careers, and establishing personal and professional identities. During this time, patients often seek greater nasal refinement to align with their evolving self-image. By this decade, individuals are typically more emotionally mature, better able to navigate the surgical process, and in many cases, financially independent enough to pursue elective procedures.
The Thirties
In their 30s, patients are often well-established in their careers or transitioning between life milestones such as marriage or parenthood. This stage can bring greater lifestyle flexibility and resources to support surgery. Functional concerns, such as breathing difficulties resulting from prior childhood trauma or past sports injuries, may also provide additional motivation for corrective rhinoplasty. We commonly see patients who were active in competitive sports. As they hit their 30s, they may have retired from competitive sports and feel the risk of future nasal trauma is low. This change in lifestyle allows them to proceed with correcting the aesthetic as well as functional concerns of their nose. Commonly, we see patients in their 30s who have achieved financial independence and can now make the decision to undergo a rhinoplasty, which their parents may not have supported through their teens or 20s.
The Forties
As the natural aging process occurs, middle-aged patients often begin to consider surgical interventions. For this reason, many patients in their 40s pursue rhinoplasty not only to restore balance to their nasal appearance but also in conjunction with facial rejuvenation procedures, such as volume restoration with filler or fat grafting, mini facelift, submental liposuction or chin implants.
The Fifties and Beyond
Patients over 55 continue to see the signs of aging. The chin, as well as the maxilla (the jawbone), will continue to recede. As the nasal tip support weakens, the nose will look longer and appear to droop. At this stage in life, patients consider surgery as part of facial rejuvenation. Frequently, the rhinoplasty is part of a full facial rejuvenation procedure. Rhinoplasty in this patient population is often done in conjunction with brow lift, facelift and fat grafting.
Ultimately, rhinoplasty offers many benefits over the course of one’s life. As long as patients are in good health, possess emotional readiness and hold realistic expectations, the procedure can be an empowering choice at virtually any age, enhancing both appearance and confidence.

EXS MARKS THE SPOT
Camrost Felcorp celebrates nearly 50 years of innovation with its most ambitious project yet.
By Christina Armanious
Mississauga’s skyline has been transforming over the past decade, but few projects capture the city’s ambition quite like Camrost Felcorp’s Exchange District. At the heart of the four-tower masterplanned community is EXS—Exchange District Signature—a purpose-built rental tower that combines residential luxury with a vibrant cultural and retail hub.
For Camrost, now approaching its 50th anniversary, EXS is more than just another building. “Over the past couple of years, what we’ve really done is carve out this niche of master-planned communities,” says Christopher Castellano, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We believe that this is how you’re able to bring a very all-encompassing living experience to purchasers and residents—not only with the incredible suites that
we’re known for, but a very active and engaging pedestrian realm.”
That philosophy is evident in every detail of EXS. The building is a striking mix of design and function, boasting imported Trevisana Italian kitchens, high-end Kohler fixtures, and Miele appliances as standard—a first for Mississauga’s downtown core.
Residents can enjoy expansive layouts encompassing full dining rooms, kitchens, living areas, and even space for king-sized beds in the two-bedroom suites, all starting at $2,750 a month. “You’re getting the space; you’re getting a luxury building for the price that one-bedrooms are leasing out for in downtown Toronto,” Castellano says.
Beyond its interiors, EXS anchors a community within a community. The tower includes a 20-room boutique hotel and more than 30,000 square feet of amenities, from a private lobby featuring curated art, valued at $2 million, to an exclusive residents-only lounge. Residents also gain access to the Exchange Club, a 20,000-squarefoot lifestyle hub featuring an indoor pool, rooftop terrace, basketball court, yoga studio and a dedicated amenity coordinator.

But it’s the ground-level experience that sets EXS apart. At its base, the Exchange District will welcome restaurants and cultural offerings, including Japanese Fish Market, a new concept from restaurateur Daniel Chaim; the latest Byblos Restaurant in Canada; a steakhouse; and Tim Hortons’s corporate concept store. These will sit alongside a grocery store, bike shop and an art museum. “It’s a very all-encompassing package that’s going to be housed in the development,” Castellano says.
The project’s location adds to its appeal. Steps from Square One, Celebration Square, and the Living Arts Centre, EXS is surrounded by Mississauga’s civic, cultural, and commercial heartbeat. The raised pedestrian piazza at the community’s core—landscaped and inspired by Rome’s Spanish Steps—further enhances the sense of urban vibrancy.
For Camrost, the Exchange District is also a statement of legacy. “Exchange District has been our most widely awarded project, both on a national and international level. It is actually the most awarded master-planned community in Canada currently,” Castellano says. “Ten years ago, the downtown Mississauga landscape was all condos and parking lots. We really saw an opportunity to bring a true internationally inspired community to this burgeoning core.”
With units now leasing and restaurants and amenities set to open over the coming months, EXS is more than a residence—it’s a destination. Castellano sums it up: “This project has been a culmination of the past 50 years of experience, and we were able to bring a lot of things to it that make it a true landmark community.”

THE ART OF OPULENCE
Artist and globally acclaimed creative leader
Anthony Wolch tells us how he creates luxury in his work and everyday life.
Living Luxe (LL): What does living luxuriously mean to you?
Anthony Wolch (AW): Great question. To me, living luxuriously means both creating and collecting experiences that evoke a deep emotional resonance. To live with love and never-ending gratitude, even in the quietest moments. To appreciate my ability to travel and spend time with people I love deeply. To take all of the places I have been, the amazing journey I am on, and to apply that passionately to my artistic expression.
LL: How do luxury and extravagance factor into your work?
AW: My art has always moved seamlessly between the simple luxuries of communication—sending out messages of hope and optimism—and celebrating culture and the icons throughout history and in pop culture who have exemplified extravagance in their own unique, creative and artistic ways.
LL: What plays a role in allowing you to live your best life?
AW: Without question, this comes down to decisions—the decision to take care of the mind, the body and the heart and to nourish and pamper aspects of my innerverse that require at times the silence of the sun, and at others the roaring of an ocean. I have slowly, over time, curated a life filled with global adventure, cultural inspiration, and constant education through
PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRAD SILVERBERG

a vast collection of books and collectibles. Talking to strangers in a foreign country, having a thirst for knowledge, and being on an endless quest for people, places and things that wow me and enrich my life.
LL: What objects do you surround yourself with to inspire and support your everyday growth?
AW: I have a few pieces in my home that I look at every day. I was fortunate to receive a gift of an original piece of Bob Dylan’s art many years ago, and it always reminds me that there are no limits to creativity. While travelling in Uruguay some 20-plus years ago, I met an artist by the name of Carlos Páez Vilaró, who in the 1950s sought out Pablo Picasso in Europe, and eventually became his friend. I have two pieces of Carlos’ work in my home that I purchased directly from the artist, reminding me that if you want something badly enough, the whole world will conspire to help you achieve it. Every second Saturday, I log off for 24 hours, turning off my phone, my constantly buzzing watch and all connections to the electric and digital world—I put on a Panerai Luminor Marina watch that was gifted to me for a birthday years ago, one of the finest examples of Italian craftsmanship, and then I bask in the silence.
LL: How important is it to you to refresh and revitalize either your work or yourself?
AW: I try to revitalize and refresh myself almost every day, waking near sunrise to exercise, and giving thanks. Over the many decades that I’ve been creating original art, my stylistic choices tend to change with my cultural interests. Most often with my art, as has been with previous collections, I investigate how far I can take a particular style, and that usually leads me in a completely new direction. My new collection, PhotoPop25, is comprised of compositions that bring to life the rebellious spirit of pop culture’s greatest iconoclasts. In a world consumed by digital perfection, PhotoPop25 embraces imperfection, nostalgia and the tactile essence of analogue artistry, reminding us that some things are meant to be felt, not just seen.
LL: What would you tell others about living their most luxurious life and how they can strive to be their personal best?
AW: Living luxuriously means something different to everybody. To me, it means being able to create on my own terms and always striving to help others. A portion of every piece of art that I sell as part of my exhibitions always goes to a charity related to helping kids. I believe that the philanthropic aspect of my work is vital to the continuation of my creativity.

Miami will always have its spotlight, but West Palm Beach is now writing its own story, one where architecture, culture and cuisine align to create a new standard for South Florida luxury living.

WHISKY AND WATCHES

Every November, men across the globe let their moustaches grow— some for the first time, many for the 20th—united under the iconic banner of the Movember Foundation. For me, Movember is not just a month of playful moustache cultivation, but a movement that holds profound personal meaning. My passion for the Movember Foundation is rooted in its unwavering commitment to tackling some of the most pressing issues in men’s health: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Conversations about men’s health are still shrouded in stigma, and too often, men are encouraged to “tough it out” in silence rather than seek support or routine screenings. The consequences are dire: men die an average of six years earlier than women, and too many lives are lost to preventable causes. Movember’s work inspires me because it challenges this silence, raises critical funds, and sparks open, honest conversations that can save lives.
As a doctor, I never feel more powerless than when learning about a suicide that nobody saw coming. Often, men show no signs, give no clues and will act impulsively, violently and fatally. Movember not only provides a community and a platform for encouraging men to share what they keep hidden, but also funds the research needed to understand the unique neurohormonal pathology underlying the suicidal actions. Whether it’s recognizing signs that we didn’t know indicated depression or gaining new insights into pharmacotherapy, Movember empowers us all to be part of the solution.
The Whisky & Watches fundraising event started as a small gathering of watch collectors for a whisky tasting and has evolved into an annual men’s lifestyle event. This isn’t a charity; it’s a celebration of mutual support for a community whose struggles often go unrecognized. This unique evening blends fine whisky and exquisite watches into an unforgettable experience in support

of the Movember Foundation. Whether you’re a connoisseur or simply curious, you’ll enjoy tasting exceptional whiskies and exploring a curated selection of watches, all while mingling with a passionate community committed to making a difference.
Made possible through corporate support and sponsorship, the event isn’t just about indulgence; it’s about impact. Every ticket, every sip, and every shared story helps raise critical funds for Movember’s vital programs. You can purchase a ticket by making a direct donation to Movember through my fundraising page, so every cent goes to the charity directly.
By coming together for Whisky and Watches, we’re not only celebrating craftsmanship and camaraderie, but also championing a future in which men feel empowered to seek help and take charge of their health.
On November 22, join me in raising a glass and supporting a cause that saves lives. Together, we can help change the face of men’s health, one moustache (and one memorable night) at a time.

A TIMELESS BREW
Smart, stylish and simple to use, JURA’s E8 brings café-level coffee to your countertop.
By Charlotte Bushnell-Boates

From a perfectly brewed espresso to a creamy, velvety cappuccino, there are few things better than a perfect coffee. JURA’s E8 machine focuses on executing classic coffee drinks to absolute perfection, making it clear why this is the brand’s most successful model globally. Combining a sleek design with JURA’s exceptional technology, it allows for an effortlessly delicious start to the day.
“For someone who is a coffee aficionado and loves their classic beverages, it’s a wonderful machine that executes these at the highest level,” says Chris Papastathopoulos, JURA’s national sales manager. “It

creates hot coffee classics through the latest JURA technologies.”
The company stands out for its exceptionally high-quality coffee machines, crafted with Swiss precision. And, the E8 features not only a graceful design, but also all the components needed to brew an impressive cup of coffee, such as the advanced P.A.G.2 grinder that ensures that beans are precisely ground, every time. When not in use, this clever grinder goes into a rest mode. “This not only extends the life of the grinder and the machine, but it also makes sure the precision of your grind is going to be super every time,” explains Papastathopoulos.
Ease of use is another important feature of the E8. The large display, complete with clear images and graphics and simpleto-use buttons, makes it easy to choose your freshly ground
and brewed caffeine fix. You’re always a touch of a button away from a perfectly prepared coffee, which is ideal both for busy weekdays and slow Sunday mornings. The display itself can also be adjusted, allowing for a seamless and personalized coffee experience.
Beyond being easy to use in the moment, the E8 also makes upkeep and maintenance a breeze. JURA’s one-touch milkcleaning system effortlessly sterilizes the milk frother with just one click. Other features—including an integrated cleaning, rinsing and descaling function, automatic filter detection, and more—ensure the E8 is always in tip-top performance.

JURA’s advanced brewing technology ensures the coffee is extracted under ideal conditions for a superb brew. That, combined with high-quality milk foam, allows for reliably café-level drinks.

With JURA’s advanced technology, coffee lovers can choose between 17 options, including espresso macchiato, flat white, latte macchiato, and more, and expect premium drinks with exceptional taste and aroma.
“One thing I love about being the national sales manager for JURA is that this is the only thing that we do,” says Papastathopoulos. “We are laser-focused on automatic specialty coffee machines. This is our bread and butter. And what that results in is that we are constantly pushing the envelope; our machines are always at the cutting edge of new developments.”
As specialists in all things coffee, JURA brings decades of technological advancements and timeless design to the E8 for a machine that brews an exceptional cup of coffee for that perfect moment each day.

ENDURING QUALITY
From broadloom carpeting to highquality hardwood, First Class Flooring offers the latest in coverings while always prioritizing long-term value.
By Julie Gedeon

Celebrating its 35th anniversary as a family-owned business, First Class Flooring has seen plenty of changes through the years. From its earliest days specializing in broadloom carpeting to its focus on quality hardwood, laminate and vinyl coverings over the past two decades, the Etobicoke flooring brand has seen trends come and go, new technologies emerge, and the GTA’s tastes evolve. The one constant: an unwavering commitment to assessing each homeowner’s precise needs and relating the best options within every budget. “We always prioritize explaining to our clients what exactly they need for each space based on their planned uses for it, while also ensuring they get the look they want,” says general manager Robert Barnsley.

Choices abound at the company’s 40,000-square-foot Etobicoke location with a 10,000-plus-square-foot designer gallery, which First Class Flooring prides itself on stocking with the latest innovations. “For instance, we now have waterbased finishings with zero VOCs,” Barnsley notes. “And we use latex-based adhesives that are much better for people and the environment.”
The expertise dates back well beyond the company’s 1980 opening. Its founder, Johnson Debra, applied his years of experience at a carpet factory to open the retail outlet, initially specializing in the broadloom carpeting that was popular at the time.
Meanwhile, his son, Ralph, had spent 22 years working with other flooring companies by the time his father was ready to retire. “I had—and still have—a passion for hardwood flooring, so I made that our main focus,” he says. “Hardwood, laminate wood and vinyl have been most in demand over the past 15
years, but there are still times when a wall-to-wall carpeting works best.”
A room’s functionality is a key consideration. “High-traffic areas such as hallways usually benefit from durable hardwood or laminate,” Barnsley advises. “Most people are good at picking out something that goes with their decor, but some don’t consider how the space will be used or how much they want to maintain it.”
With more people making everyday use of their basements, the selection of proper flooring is essential. “Given the potential dampness, you want the warmth of a thicker laminate wood or vinyl with the proper underpadding,” Barnsley says. “You might even want to install a radiant heat system.” Engineered hardwood is a more luxurious option, but he doesn’t recommend it unless the concrete is properly sealed against possible water penetration.
Pets should be another consideration. Laminate flooring

offers a more scratch-resistant surface than hardwood or vinyl.
“Textured flooring is also becoming more popular because it camouflages any damage better,” Barnsley says. “We also see more people avoiding the dark wood finishes that immediately show dust.”
At the same time, bold colours are trending for added cottage flair. “We’re seeing more navy blue, forest green and dark grays as the contrast to a kitchen’s white or light cabinetry,” he says. Chevron or herringbone patterns for distinct areas, such as
a foyer or dining room, have become increasingly popular for adding elegant design elements without breaking the bank.
No matter the preference, the First Class Flooring team is ready and able to make it happen in whatever way works best for homeowners. “We have some of the very best contractors with years of experience in flooring installation, as well as sanding and refinishing services,” Barnsley says. “Above all, we take great pride in completing each project at a good pace within budget.”

This growing pursuit to deliver state-of-the-art solutions that are reliable and durable ensures the company consistently sets new benchmarks in the field.
As Alumilex looks toward the future, its dedication to quality, innovation and genuine client connections remains at its core. By combining expert craftsmanship with a personalized approach and cutting-edge design, the brand continues to be a trailblazer in the space, redefining what’s possible in the world of custom windows and doors. With a foundation built on family values and a vision firmly fixed on innovation, Alumilex is reimagining the way people experience their homes and the world beyond.

LUXURY DESIGNED FROM THE GROUND UP
At Khayeri, every plank reflects hand-crafted European heritage, contemporary design and a lighter footprint on tomorrow.
By Susan Kelly

When looking to ramp up the elegance in a new or renovated home, flooring is a prime consideration.
“Exceptional design starts from the ground up,” says Mehran Khayeri, founder of Khayeri Curated Flooring.
“Flooring is the base of a room’s design, similar to a canvas for a painting, setting the tone and rhythm for the entire space.”
Khayeri is an artist and avid globetrotter when he’s not developing innovative products. And in this, he is something of a maverick, ever seeking new and different ways to help create memorable and beautiful spaces, both residential and commercial. “Back in 2000, I was the first to secure the rights for an engineered hardwood flooring in Canada,” he says. The rest, as they say, is history.
Since then, this type of flooring, which gives the timeless cachet of traditional hardwood with enhanced durability, has become the go-to for today’s homeowners. And Khayeri Curated Flooring has become the provider of exquisitely designed, top-of-the-line luxury European engineered hardwood flooring.

are used, specifically white oak and ash from France. There, French white oak is considered a national treasure, strictly protected and regulated, with each tree certified and tracked.
Over the past century, France has doubled the size of its oak forest, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable growth. French ash is managed with similar care. “Environmental responsibility, leaving the world better than how we found it, is a core value,” Khayeri says.
All Khayeri products are engineered for climate durability, too. Because only mature, old-growth trees are harvested, it ensures optimal strength and environmental balance. Khayeri Curated Flooring products are backed with 100 per cent Baltic marine-grade birch, renowned for its dimensional stability and moisture resistance—qualities essential to withstand the rigours of Canadian climates.
“And unlike most competitors, which act as dealers or resellers, we manufacture our own flooring, primarily in Holland, which
has very high standards in quality and sustainability,” he says. Khayeri has a huge variety of flooring options, and over one million square feet of flooring is kept in stock at its Woodbridge facility, making it one of the largest holders of European-made flooring in Canada, Khayeri says.
There are two specialized divisions: Khayeri Curated Flooring is targeted at the designers, architects and custom builders who form most of its customer base, and Khayeri Constructor line is prized by developers of large condominium projects. While trade-focused, Khayeri welcomes the public to its showroom and gallery in the heart of the city’s Castlefield Design District. It also employs its own staff of certified installers, ensuring quality and enabling it to offer a lifetime warranty on every product. This controlled process guarantees consistency and reliability. Two main product lines ensure extensive customization: the Memories of Scandinavia Line, with its sophisticated take on wide and long-plank flooring, and the Memories of Versailles

Line, which evokes palatial opulence with options for such custom patterns as chevron or parquetry for historical flair.
With its Bespoke Line, the company works with designers and architects to realize their unique designs. Current trends call for even wider—up to 12 inches—and longer planks because they make for fewer seams and greater visual appeal. “This poses some technical problems, but we’re up to the challenge,” Khayeri says. “We like to innovate and are all about producing the best possible product available without compromise.” For those who want to experience Khayeri’s offerings in person, the team welcomes showroom appointment bookings through the company’s website or by phone at (416) 967-9200.

LOVE IS THE KEY
Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Peter Triantos means business.
By Eve Thomas
From his massive studio, globally renowned artist Peter Triantos creates bold and bright lauded series like Jelly Bean, Napa Valley, Splash of Colour and Abstract Expressionism. “Whether [artists] are painting a bowl of fruit or a diamond or a beautiful person, they want to captivate the audience,” he says. The eccentric and down-to-earth abstract artist is just as comfortable talking nuts and bolts as he is waxing poetic about Rembrandt. Perhaps it’s no surprise, since he came to his illustrious career— which now boasts high demand by numerous globally renowned art collectors—via what he calls “the scenic route,” immigrating to Canada from Greece with his parents and brother as a six-yearold boy on a 15-day boat ride. As a teen considering a career in the fine arts, Triantos says: “I didn’t want to burden my hard-working parents.” But he knew he had talent, and that he’d revisit it. “Did I know it would take this long? No,” he recalls with a laugh.
Being an avid art collector himself, Triantos took the leap from carpenter to fine art dealer in his 30s, then to being a full-time artist in his 40s. To their credit, he says his kind and generous parents were always supportive of his dreams. “They believed in me; that meant a lot,” he says.
Not long after his first solo show, he rose to stardom with sold-out exhibitions around the world,

from Miami and New York to Auckland and Seoul, and more than 50 magazine and television features (plus his work appeared in Suits). His collaborations and clients include many A-listers, among them Karl Lagerfeld, Drake, Jeff Hamilton, Nicole Scherzinger and Tate McRae (who filmed a music video at his downtown gallery and ended up acquiring one of his electric Storm paintings).
Triantos is careful to note, however, that none of this is pure luck. “I’m 64 and I work seven days a week, nonstop, but I enjoy it,” he says. “Going to my studio is like going to my playground.” He finds inspiring young minds to be an especially rewarding part of what he does, and he often welcomes students to his studio and teaches lessons during his travels, as he recently did at the prestigious secondary School of Research and Science in Dubai. “It’s very important to educate young minds of the importance of the arts,” he says.
Most recently, Triantos turned a Bentley Bentayga into a sensational and whimsical mobile work of art at Canvas in Motion, celebrating Canada Day at CIBC Pier on the lakeside of the Friday Harbour Resort. He had less than an hour to paint the entire luxurious vehicle, without any blueprints. “I’m like a race horse, it’s nerve-wracking before the race, but once the race starts, it’s all action and the stress dissipates,” he says, laughing. But in the end, he surprised the spectators with his signature style of creative and unique abstract figures, cheered on by the crowd of fans, friends and family. “It was the most fun I’ve had in a while.”
Triantos also unveiled several pieces at the 2025 Living Luxe Design Show as part of the OE Design Gallery by Omid Taba, including a dreamy Equinox diptych artwork that appears three-dimensional and a magical Winter Paradise series piece with free-flowing rhythmical movement.
Beyond making art, Triantos also builds the crates that ship his pieces worldwide and installs 99 per cent of his work across the GTA, Muskoka, Ottawa and Montreal, as well as Napa Valley, Miami, the Hamptons and Saratoga Springs. He laughs, recounting how far he’ll go to make sure each installation is perfect. “When someone acquires your work to add to their collection, they’re making you happy—why not make them happy?”

EMBLEMATIC ELEGANCE
Designer Carrie Lamb of FRIDA Fine Jewellery transforms the rarest of gems into covetable and collectible works of art.
By Susan Kelly
If you hear fine jewellery designer Carrie Lamb say it’s “in the vault,” it isn’t a metaphor for keeping a secret. Instead, she’s referring to a cache of prized, one-of-a-kind gemstones she incorporates into her custom collections. “Rare and collectible gems are my specialty,” says the founder, owner and designer at FRIDA Fine Jewellery in Halifax. “When a truly unique stone becomes available, I move quickly.”
The designer relies on small independent gem dealers for sourcing, then hand selects the finest gems, diamonds and pearls, which she integrates into a stunning array of signature collections and custom fine jewellery, from bold statement pieces to engagement rings and men’s designs. Anything imagined can be built on a bespoke basis. Custom and handcrafted in Canada, her creations have been featured in some of the world’s most esteemed publications, including British Vogue
Lamb keeps an expert eye peeled for la crème of the “Big Three” gems: rubies, sapphires and emeralds, plus a myriad of exceptional, lesserknown one-of-one gems, such as spinels, tsavorites and tourmalines. The list is endless, the supply finite. Most commercially available

stones, the great majority of which undergo heat treatment to improve their colour and clarity, don’t make the cut. Instead, she focuses on exceptional unheated gems—naturally magnificent and exceedingly rare. Unheated sapphires, for instance, make up less than one per cent of the global market.
“There’s something magical about the authenticity and natural beauty of unheated stones in their unaltered, pure state,” Lamb says. “More practically, these qualities also add significantly to their value, which will increase over time, making them an excellent investment. Other than serious collectors, people don’t always think of jewellery as a valuable commodity; I do! Gold has always been associated with prestige and wealth, and so too have precious gems. In today’s market of mass-produced luxury, it is easy to forget intrinsic value. At FRIDA, it is our mission to combine beauty and collectability.”
Unlike white diamonds, which are not rare, highly collectable natural-coloured gems are few and far between. Such exquisite gems deserve a singular setting, and Lamb is passionate about creating custom jewellery in which their special qualities fully shine. Equally important is each client. “My aim always is for clients to feel their vision is fully understood and to create a beautiful
piece that exceeds all expectation,” she says. The result: timeless classics with a personalized twist that will be enjoyed for decades to come. No wonder clients come from across North America, drawn by the designer’s special flair. Each custom commission takes into consideration the wearer’s lifestyle and aesthetic.
“The name FRIDA is derived from the Old Norse, meaning ‘beautiful and beloved,’” Lamb says. “Our sword-and-shield logo is emblematic of empowerment and protection, something I cultivated early as a single mother.” That was over two decades ago, when, as a British émigré to Nova Scotia, she parlayed a passion for design and experience in the high-end fashion industry to found the company. Today, her daughter, Emma, serves as both the creative director and face of the brand.
All collections celebrate individuality, beauty and empowerment. “A custom piece of jewellery is about much more than wearing something pretty,” Lamb says. “It can be a talisman of protection, a form of communication. Wearing it can be a transformative experience.”
Personal consultations and private shopping experiences are offered in-person at the Bishop’s Landing boutique on the Halifax Waterfront, or via phone, email or Zoom.

By Samantha Vecchiarelli
If you’re Toronto-based and have looked into giving your windows the royal treatment with bespoke specifications, chances are you’ve heard of The View Window Fashions. The brand has long been recognized in the GTA and beyond as a trusted destination for custom drapery, luxury shades and automated window coverings. Guiding homeowners, designers and architects through every detail from concept to installation, The View Window Fashions takes window adornment seriously, bringing its masterful design know-how to add the finishing flair to any room.
Building on this strong foundation, The View Window Fashions has partnered with Gifted Design Inc. to introduce an exciting new chapter: The Interiors Collection. This curated line of custom, bench-made Canadian furniture represents the natural evolution of both brands’ shared values, timeless design, elevated craftsmanship and personalized service, extending their expertise beyond the window to offer clients beautifully cohesive spaces from floor to ceiling.
The introduction of the Interior Collection

demonstrates how The View Window Fashions and Gifted Design are poised to explore new horizons of the brands’ narratives. “The Interior Collection involves a curated line of custom furniture made in Canada,” says Pina Andreoli, principal decorator and founder of both brands. “It’s a natural extension of the brands’ values: timeless design, elevated craftsmanship and personalized service.”
In response to the budding demand for custom furniture, this collection offers everything needed to thoughtfully furnish a home with tailored upholstered pieces, including dining chairs, sofas, benches, ottomans and more. “These are a curated selection of pieces we feel will work in today’s environment,” Andreoli says. “The craftsmanship is high-quality.”
When it comes to the design process itself, Andreoli details how her love of furniture naturally progressed into the creation of the Interior Collection. “These are not cookie-cutter products,” she emphasizes. “They can be customized and are
both carefully crafted and produced by skilled artisans, which I think is very important because we want to support our local craftsmen.”
To ensure clients receive pieces that feel distinctly personal, items can be individualized with details ranging from fabric to stain and paint finishes, with Gifted Design and The View Window Fashions offering guidance along the way. This level of customization and care underscores the brands’ shared philosophy to not only fill a space but complete it.
Driven to offer a whole-home approach and bring The View Window Fashions and Gifted Design’s signature offerings beyond the window into the very heart of the home, the launch of the Interior Collection marks an exciting new chapter for both brands. It ultimately reflects a deepened commitment to creating cohesive spaces that are meaningful and personal, all while continuing to redefine what it means to live and design with thoughtful intention.

WINDOW WATCH
As the number of home invasions surges, Toronto residents are turning to one company dedicated to protecting families with the simple strength of security window film.
By Christina Armanious
“I sleep very well at night. No one’s coming into my house. The only way you’re getting in is if you’re Spider-Man and you climb up and break my skylight,” says Gary Cohen, principal at Window Armour. His company’s security window films have safeguarded Toronto homeowners—himself included—for years.
With home invasions on the rise, Cohen has never been busier. “Did you watch the news this week?” he asks, referencing a fatal home invasion in Vaughan that left residents shaken and eager to protect their homes. He notes demand is especially high in North York and Vaughan—particularly Woodbridge and Kleinburg—where organized crews often target luxury homes.
“Fifty per cent of the break-ins occur from smashing a window to unlock the door or [breaking] a window in the back to come through,” he explains. Window Armour combats this with security

“WINDOW
ARMOUR IS MORE THAN A BUSINESS—IT’S A MISSION BORN OF LIVED EXPERIENCE AND A DETERMINATION TO PROTECT FAMILIES.”
window film, which he likens to “an iPhone protector for your windows,” applied to both sides of the pane to slow down and deter intruders.
Extra security, such as monitored alarms, cameras, or motionactivated lights, is important and helps discourage break-ins. But in Cohen’s experience, that alone isn’t enough. “The best thing to do is reinforce your home,” he says, noting that security film works best in tandem with other safety measures.
The films have proven their strength. Cohen recalls one Richmond Hill client whose home was targeted: “These guys were smashing the window for 19 minutes, and I couldn’t believe it. I’ve heard of five minutes; I’ve heard of 10 minutes, but not 19. They didn’t get in. They just gave up.”
Cohen’s business began with a personal need for change. He recalls living in a bungalow near Bathurst Street and Wilson
Avenue shortly after he and his wife welcomed their first baby. “Two guys came to my front door, smashed the glass, unlocked the door and took my 50-inch plasma TV, which was my wedding gift.” Frustrated and determined to protect his family, Cohen started Window Armour. Looking back, he has no regrets. “I’m actually glad that happened,” he admits.
In the years following COVID-19, as people returned to work, he noticed a sharp rise in crime. What started as a business focused on residential windows has since expanded to protect schools, doctors’ offices, pharmacies and even nail salons.
For Cohen, Window Armour is more than a business—it’s a mission born of lived experience and a determination to protect families from the same vulnerability he once faced. In a city where crime is becoming increasingly unpredictable, his message is simple: preparedness is power.

Yes, there’s a time and place for litigation—when assets are being hidden, negotiations have collapsed or there are serious safety concerns. And there are excellent litigators out there. But those cases are the exception, not the rule. Most divorces settle without ever stepping foot in a courtroom. And here’s why: court means long wait times (months before the litigants even get a conference date), costs that can run into the tens—or even hundreds—of thousands of dollars, and having a complete stranger decide your family’s future. On top of that,
court proceedings are public, so your personal life and all of your dirty laundry become part of the official public record.
The solution? Mediation.
Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process that keeps you in control. Every decision is one you and your former partner agree on. Unlike court, it’s voluntary—no one can force you to be there. There’s no “better parent” award, no winner or loser, just a family working toward solutions that meet everyone’s needs.
One of mediation’s biggest strengths is its ability to reduce conflict, both now and in the years ahead. In court, you argue to win. In mediation, you collaborate to solve problems. Along the way, you build communication and problem-solving skills that help prevent future disputes. The document you create becomes your roadmap for those inevitable tense days, giving you a plan to follow instead of a fight to relive.
Want a summer parenting schedule that’s different from the rest of the year? Done. Want to rent out the family home instead of selling it right away? Also, possible. Mediation allows you to be as creative and detailed as you like, tailoring the plan to your

family’s unique needs.
The cost savings? Significant.
Litigation, arbitration and even lawyer-to-lawyer negotiations can drain your finances quickly. Mediation, on the other hand, typically costs a fraction of a family lawyer’s hourly rate. While it’s still important to obtain independent legal advice, that’s usually a small, fixed expense rather than an open-ended legal bill. When you’re dividing one household into two, every dollar matters, and keeping more of your money within the family instead of paying it out to professionals simply makes sense.
Now back to that dirty laundry.
If you go to court, the decision—and the evidence used to reach it— becomes part of the public record. That means neighbours, colleagues or even future partners could access intimate details of your life. Mediation, on the other hand, is entirely private and confidential.
If you want to protect your privacy, your finances, and your peace of mind—while keeping conflict to a minimum—skip the courtroom drama and call a mediator. Your future self will thank you.

LUXURY IN PERSPECTIVE
How our definition of luxury is shifting to become more personal, wellness-focused and better for the environment.
By Hilary Farr
My home renovation is becoming a tragic comedy. I’ve parted with Electrician Number One, whom I nicknamed The Greek Destroyer. Electrician Number Two was perfect until a death in his family two days in took him away. Number Three: excellent first day. Then his one week of vacation was doubled courtesy of the Air Canada strike. Stress and exhaustion are now my norm.
As I sit down to write this article, what I really long for is a long soak in my tub filled with divine oils and aromas, listening to whatever I want for as long as I want and to hell with all
the endless list of Other Things I Ought to be Doing running through my mind. In this moment, a worry-free soak feels like the ultimate luxury to me.
I strive for a lifestyle defined by intention, experience and visionary design. For me, the biggest luxury has always been time, but my definition is expanding to include personalization, craftsmanship and a seamless blend of aesthetics and functionality. Bonus points for pushing boundaries, embracing innovation, and redefining comfort in the most elegant ways. Rather than following fleeting styles, luxury sets its own pace, creating trends that inspire the broader design world.
Spaces are now being designed with a “liveable luxury” mindset. The rise of wellness-centric design—think spa-like bathrooms, biophilic elements and serene colour palettes— demonstrates how luxury is setting new standards for healthy, intentional living. It begs the question: how do small luxuries differ across cultures and environments?

“MAYBE
LUXURY LIVING
IS ABOUT CREATING A SENSE OF PLACE—ONE THAT REFLECTS YOUR PERSONALITY, TASTE, AND ASPIRATIONS. LET’S ASPIRE TO TURN EVERYDAY MOMENTS INTO EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCES.“
When I lived in California, I would open the curtains nearly every morning to blue, cloudless skies. I dreamed of rain, and to me, its sound beating on the roof seemed a faraway luxury. When I lived in England, the thought of sunshine year-round and a closetful of jeans and T-shirts seemed like a dream—the pinnacle of luxurious living. Luxury is all about perspective and geography!
Wherever we are, sustainability can and should be a hallmark of luxury living. Understanding the need comes first, followed by embracing the sheer, almost decadent gorgeousness and glory of natural, eco-conscious materials, energy-efficient systems and ethically sourced furnishings. You’ll notice these elements are increasingly important in high-end design. Luxury brands are leading this charge, mostly in Europe and Asia, finding ways to make opulence and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. This shift not only reflects broader global concerns but also the evolution of luxury as a conscious choice—one that values longevity and impact as much as beauty. So no matter where you live, you can decide on how to embrace and harness what resonates for you as luxury. Maybe luxury living is about creating a sense of place— one that reflects your personality, taste, and aspirations. Let’s aspire to turn everyday moments into extraordinary experiences. Like my bathtub time! As luxury continues to evolve, it will remain at the forefront of innovation, style and thoughtful living.

Toronto leaders and philanthropists gathered to support abuse survivors at the inaugural Moving Stories: A Luncheon for Changemakers.

More than 200 of Toronto’s business leaders, philanthropists and changemakers gathered at the Bram & Bluma Appel Salon on May 29 for Moving Stories: A Luncheon for Changemakers. Hosted by Shelter Movers, the inaugural luncheon brought together the community in support of survivors of gender-based violence. The program featured keynote speaker Brandi Leifso, founder of Evio Beauty, who told her powerful story of resilience. “It never starts with a fist,” she reflected. “[For me] it started in subtle ways...until, slowly, I became a shell of myself.” Recalling the night she first reached out for help, Leifso remembers being asked if she was safe. “I said no. That single word hung in the air—heavy and final.” Proceeds from the luncheon support Shelter Movers’ national work, which provides free moving and storage services for individuals fleeing abuse.

THE MAN BEHIND THE
Under the name Mr Brainwash, Thierry Guetta, who has helped catapult street art into the mainstream, sees magic everywhere. Photographed at luxury rental 2Fifteen, the acclaimed artist embraced the city last year with his solo exhibition titled Toronto Is Beautiful.

Picture a street artist, and what comes to mind may well be some version of a troubled teenager spray-painting looping letters in an underpass beneath the cover of darkness. With a greying beard, a strong French accent, and the mantra “Life Is Beautiful,” Thierry Guetta is most certainly not that.
The 59-year-old street artist, who goes by the moniker Mr Brainwash, lives boldly and brightly, creating colourful and playful work around the globe. “If you don't believe in magic, you will never find it,” he tells me. Guetta has been at the forefront of the contemporary art world for decades, helping to catapult street art into the mainstream alongside such legends as Banksy and Space Invader, with his signature flamboyant Pop Art-inspired style. In other words, he’s a big deal. And while it’s tempting to
summarize him in a list of accomplishments (such as his starstudded clients: the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rick Ross, Michael Jackson and Madonna) or his global collaborations (MercedesBenz, Coca Cola, Ray-Ban and Stan Lee), it misses something crucial about Guetta: his why. Everything he does—from a phone interview from his Los Angeles home to creating life-sized statues of LeBron James and Bugs Bunny to promote Space Jam: A New Legacy—is to further his goal of spreading love and sharing his message that life is beautiful.
Guetta’s positive outlook and meteoric rise to fame started from humble beginnings. He grew up as the youngest of five in Gargeslès-Gonesse, a poor suburb outside of Paris, and his family’s limited resources were balanced with the wealth of a loving home life.

This image photography by Taglialatella Galleries

Even as a boy, Guetta nurtured an artistic soul. “When I was a kid, they always called me the crazy—le fou in French—because I always wanted to explore, to do things,” he says. “I always had ideas and things. When I was a very, very young kid, I never stopped.”
His mother’s unexpected death when Guetta was nine capsized the household into tragedy, ultimately prompting a move to Los Angeles when he was a teenager for a fresh start. In the bustling city of Los Angeles, opportunity abounded, especially for a young man with such a contagious enthusiasm for life. Stints in the nightclub scene and vintage retail positioned Guetta firmly at the centre of L.A.’s cool and hip, and he found creative fulfillment in any venture to which he turned his attention.
“It's always something artistic. Like clubs—I wanted to have fun. Fashion—I wanted to do things that were different,” Guetta says. “In the world of art, every situation becomes artistic. If you are doing fashion, if you are a businessman, if you are a person who blooms, you become artistic in what you do.”
Guetta’s art education came unexpectedly and unorthodoxly. After his son was born, he began obsessively videotaping his life and the world around him. On a trip to Paris to visit his cousin, prominent street artist Space Invader, he was introduced to street art. Enthralled by the application of creativity to such a dynamic and accessible medium, Guetta focused his attention on capturing videos of notable street artists, including Shepard Fairey, Zevs and Banksy, whom he met through Fairey while the elusive artist was on a trip to L.A.
“I think street art, it’s always been there, you know? It started a long, long, long time ago, with the cavemen,” he says. “Today, it's everywhere. Everyone expresses themselves on the streets, but it becomes a connection with people's lives. It's down your street, and you pass every day, so you grow up with it.”
Guetta learned voraciously through the lens of his camera from his subjects. At Banksy’s urging, in 2008, he opened his debut exhibit, a colourful and visionary blend of
the street art he’d so carefully studied and pop cultural moments, both past and present, with Guetta’s view of positivity at its heart. The title of the exhibition, Life Is Beautiful, continues to be a mantra for the artist.
Meanwhile, with promises to countless street artists to create a movie to tell their stories, more than 30,000 hours of footage, and no idea how to actually deliver a cohesive film, Guetta was in a tight spot. Luckily, Banksy stepped in to direct the movie, focusing the film on the newly dubbed Mr Brainwash and his ascension into the art world. The documentary, released in 2010 and titled Exit Through The Gift Shop, went on to receive widespread critical acclaim, including an Oscar nomination, and launched Guetta—and street art in general—onto the global stage. “Exit Through The Gift Shop really opened people's minds that street art is important because the young people of this generation, that's what they grew up with,” Guetta reflects. “It's a wave of a moment of time.”
Over the past two and a half decades, he has continued to create with a superhuman fervour. The artist has shows, collaborations, and installations across the globe under his belt, from the world’s largest Rubik’s Cube mosaic (complete with the Guinness World Record certification to prove it) in the Dominican Republic to a colourful large-scale mural in the new Battersea Power Station underground in London.

Last year, Guetta presented a new solo show, titled Toronto Is Beautiful, at Taglialatella Galleries on Yorkville Avenue, taking over the exhibition space for two and a half weeks with a collection of vibrant sculptures, silk screen prints, and mixed media pieces. Many of the pieces are still on view (including a silk screen print on paper sharing the show’s name, depicting the Toronto skyline) and available for purchase through the gallery.
On his trip to Toronto, Guetta stopped by the sleek luxury Forest Hill rental, 2Fifteen, by DBS Developments, where he was photographed for Living Luxe Magazine. With elegant suites created by Wise Nadel Design and sweeping views of the city, the thoughtfully appointed building, painstakingly imagined by developer Bryan Levy, is a further testament to Guetta’s message at the Taglialatella exhibition: Toronto is beautiful.
Closer to home, Guetta’s show Cars Are Beautiful, on view at Los Angeles’ Petersen Automotive Museum until 2026, immerses visitors in a vibrant world of automotive creativity, where they can explore pieces like Childhood Dream (a Van Gogh-inspired children’s bedroom complete with a racecar bed), Furry Fiat (a Fiat 500 covered in fuzzy pink fur), and Big Little Car (a 10-foot version of the classic Little Tikes toy car).
The pace of Guetta’s life and work is almost frenetic, but he seems to draw from a limitless supply of energy. “A lot of people said life is too short, and I said, ‘Wrong; life is 365 lives a year,” he says. “I'm 60 times 365 lives. I did a lot already. So when you see it that way, life is not short.”
Throughout the years, his guiding message has stayed the same: Life is beautiful. “It’s a way of life. I decide to see the beauty of life, to give the love of life, to give messages: Follow your dream; Love is the answer; Never give up; Keep smiling; Keep it real,” Guetta says. “All of these words that just make you feel better, make

I think street art, it's always been there, you know? It started a long, long, long time ago with the cavemen. Today, it's everywhere.

you feel that everyone is a diamond, and you just have to learn how to polish it to make it shine.”
While he recalls early critics labelled his work as “cheesy,” Guetta says he believed in it too strongly to be deterred, and today he notes that his message of positivity is everywhere.
Lately, Guetta’s attention has been focused on a new venture: Mr Brainwash Art Museum in Beverly Hills. Opened in late 2022 as a pop-up in the Paley Center of Media building, the museum allows visitors to immerse themselves in the wonderful and vibrant mind of Mr Brainwash. “People said, ‘Oh, you'll be in a museum, but you need to be dead to be in a museum,’ ” Guetta recalls. “And I said to myself, ‘You know what I'm going to open? I'm going to be the first artist in the world to open his own museum alive.’ And I did it.”
The museum, which offers free school visits, is part of Guetta’s lifelong mission to give back to the world in which he sees so much beauty. He has contributed to dozens of organizations and causes, from the Los Angeles LGBT Center to the Prince’s Trust to creating murals to honour 9/11 victims, and has worked alongside the Pope and Michelle Obama to support their charities.
“I keep going, you know, I keep going and going and going and going and because of the way I'm doing things, I can help so many associations to
try to share what I do and raise money,” he says. “It makes me wake up in the morning and continue because I feel like I'm not just creating for myself, but I'm making a better world.”
Chatting with Guetta feels almost like a spiritual experience. He speaks with quiet fervour, espousing advice on how to appreciate each day to the fullest. He seems fully and completely unflappable—like someone who is so at peace with himself and the world that he transcends normal problems like having a bad day or getting grumpy. Maybe it’s this inner peace that allows him to approach his work with such unabashed whimsy and playfulness, creating moments of vibrant colour and undiluted joy so that the rest of us can see the world through his adoring eyes, however briefly.
“I am a person who is fully living life. I want every minute, every breath of it. I don't even sleep at night. I'm a guy who sleeps two hours, three hours maximum, a day, because when my body is dead tired, I lie down; my body says, ‘Okay, now you’re tired. No, we're going to play with your head,’ ” he says. “Even when I dream, when I don't even remember, I'm sure that I'm continuing; I never stop. I feel like my life never stops, and it will never stop. And even after my death, I think that I’ve prepared so much in advance that I never share with people that it will go on for many, many decades after.”

As Sarah Jessica Parker ends her tenure as New York columnist Carrie Bradshaw, the versatile actress reflects on the show that launched her career to new heights, her growing brand, and life in the shoes of the star.
Interview by Fabián Waintal
Introduction by Elia Essen
Photography by HBO Max
For nearly three decades, Sarah Jessica Parker has donned Manolo Blahniks and bold couture outfits to become New York relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City as she tackles troubles in love and her career alongside her three best friends.

And, along with the slew of movie credits, including L.A. Story, which she starred in alongside Steve Martin, Hocus Pocus, Footloose, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, and The First Wives Club, it was her role as the titular excitable dog in the 1995 play Sylvia that helped her land
When she took on the role in 1998, Parker had no idea it would run for six seasons and bloom into two movies and a three-season spin-off series And Just Like That… Still, it would be a mistake to pigeonhole Parker into one role. The multifaceted actress got her start on the stage. Growing up in Ohio, she studied at the Cincinnati Ballet. She landed her first acting job at the age of nine, starring in the 1974 NBC adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl. Two years later, she made her Broadway debut in New York in The Innocents before landing the title role in Annie. Later, as an adult, she nurtured her love of theatre through roles in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (alongside her now husband Matthew Broderick) and Once Upon A Mattress.

the role of Carrie Bradshaw. Her charming and magnetic portrayal of the lovably imperfect heroine earned her two Primetime Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes, and many other nominations and wins.
Now 60, Parker hasn’t slowed down. In between Sex and the City and its spinoff shoots, she has starred in and produced numerous films and TV shows, including Failure To Launch, The Family Stone, Did You Hear About The Morgans?, I Don’t Know How She Does It and Divorce
Over the past decade, Parker has also turned her sights to honing her business acumen. Her ventures are vast and varied—from a publishing line, SJP Lit, through Zando to a collaboration with Samsonite to a collection with New Zealand winery Invivo—but to all of them, she brings aplomb and her signature down-to-earth cheer. She was known to work the floor at her now-shuttered West Village shoe shop, helping customers find just the right pair of stilettos that would make Carrie swoon.
As And Just Like That... aired its final episode late this summer and Parker ends her tenure as Carrie Bradshaw, the actress, in an exclusive interview with journalist Fabián Waintal, reflects on the show that launched her to stardom, her next chapter as a businesswoman, and the evolution of the entertainment industry.
Fabián Waintal (FW): Have you noticed any changes in Hollywood since you began working as an actress?
Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP): It hasn’t changed radically, but I do notice lots of young performers who I am completely unfamiliar with. I feel sometimes like the new kid in class, when everybody knows each other. Everybody seems more confident.
FW: And looking back today, did you imagine in the beginning that Sex and the City was going to be so successful?
SJP: No. Everything changed when we started the second season, when our producer, Michael Patrick King, wanted to dig into the characters’ points of view. He let everybody become more complicated and more human. That allowed friendships to become much more interesting, much more
necessary, much more human. It cut deeper. That was smart and good writing with a special depth I thought was so beautiful.
FW: Did you have any input on the stories?
SJP: We worked closely together, where we had table reads, and we always messed with a script. We talked a lot about those stories every new season. And a few months before they would start writing, they would pitch me the new stories, and we would talk about it. We talked a lot through the entire process.
FW: Was it hard to leave the show?
SJP: It is scary because I’ve been with the same people, so happy for so long. It was a hard decision to leave after spending so much time and having such a singular experience. HBO had been my home for many years. And it just feels peculiar to walk away from really what had become such an important professional home for me.

THIS IMAGE: Sarah Jessica Parker with husband Matthew Broderick, Golden Globes, 2006
FW: If you had to choose between TV, a streaming platform like HBO, and cinema, what would it be?
SJP: I grew up without TV—I didn't have one for most of my childhood. So it was a medium that I really didn't understand. But I grew to love it. I love the pace of it. I loved the limitations. And I also love that it could do what cinema couldn't do, to keep telling someone's story. So, it's been a wonderful experience.
FW: How do you feel about using your name now as a brand across different ventures, such as your collaboration with the wine Invivo X, SJP?
SJP: Well, there are some opportunities that present themselves, and some of them feel ridiculous or foolish. Every now and then, one comes in. And if I’m curious about it, maybe I’d have the opportunity to work with smart and interesting partners who I think are very good at what they do, but also decent and honourable people. That’s when it's hard to say no. I'm a curious person. I love to learn new things and be part of new conversations. And when I met two gentlemen from this small online business called Invivo, from New Zealand, I was really impressed. They convinced me that I could learn the business, and they promised to share everything they knew. I also asked many questions, I was involved, and it's been a wonderful opportunity. So it’s surprising, and now and then I get some free bottles of wine, which is also very nice.
FW: Do you anticipate growing your SJP brand?
SJP: We want to grow; we have to find new projects, we just simply do. It's the way the world works now. We're always creating new styles. We have a Samsonite backpack that's been successful for us, the Carried Away convertible backpack, and a Shoeful Duffel that I love.
FW: What do you admire in your own characters? Do you have anything familiar with any of them?
SJP: They all look like me (laughs). There are parts of my characters that I feel familiar with. Carrie Bradshaw loved New York City. I do, too. Her friendships are important to her; for me too. Frances in the show Divorce was a mother, and I can relate to that, how deeply joyful that experience is, even though sometimes it is seemingly impossible.
FW: Do you think you will be able to stay away from the Carrie Bradshaw character in And Just Like That…?
SJP: I loved playing her. It was an unbelievable time in my life. And I stopped doing it because I want to do different things. I miss that kind of work in my life, being challenged, being terrified and working with new people, learning something new once again. We were all really comfortable with what we were doing on HBO. And that is also great, but I want to keep learning.
FW: Do you remember the first time your name appeared in the news?
SJP: I think the first time my name was in a newspaper, it was because we were protesting the Vietnam War on the campus of Ohio University, saying that the war is not healthy for anybody. I grew up in a family that was politically involved. My parents were very involved politically, before I was born, in their own levels, civic-minded, as part of our community, municipal elections, just related to issues of the time. And so, I grew up protesting a lot in my house. In a way, we should get up in the morning, brush our teeth, and think about the world around us. Today, I try to take the opportunity to speak some time for people whose voices are not being heard. That's really important to me. But it's also important to be educated about what you're talking about.
FW: Do people listen more to celebrities than real politicians?
SJP: I guess more and more so. I don’t think an actor's voice is more important than any community leader, but as an actress, I'm doing what I would do if I were a teacher, to shine a light on something, and I take that seriously. It's meaningful to me.
FW: Any advice for your fans?
SJP: I’m not someone to give advice; I don’t. I’m very reluctant to be that person. But I think that your 20s should be about improvisation, travel, curiosity without making any proclamations about who you are or what you’ll be, who you are going to marry. Take chances. It's unfortunate that many people feel that they have to come out of college and buckle down, because I think the 30s are really when you’d get the ducks in a row, kind of developing an interest in something. And then I think the 40s are the meaningful period of those two decades to me. I’m so glad I made my mistakes back then, to pursue a meaningful life based on those years I had.

Internationally acclaimed designer Lori Morris gives dramatic and opulent Old World style a modern twist to create a sumptuous lounge area in a private residence.

By Susan Kelly
Photography by Edward James

The homeowner had a vision for revamping the lower level in his upscale waterfront mansion in southwestern Ontario: Make it a chic and modern take on a classic British private club. To realize it, he turned to one of the world’s most sought-after designers of haute luxe homes, Lori Morris. “He saw kind of an elevated man cave, though more inclusive and meant for entertaining,” she says. “And since he has luxurious, stunning and refined taste, with a love for beautiful things and art, especially Italian movements, the bar was set high.”
Challenge met and expectations exceeded. For the result is a boldly sensual and sophisticated space with the inimitable Lori Morris flair. For over 38 years, the daring diva and the design firm she heads, Lori Morris Design (LMD), have created award-winning spaces that resonate with individuality and opulence, each a testament to her unparalleled creativity.
Infusing classic elegance with bold innovation is something of a specialty. “With this project, I wanted to create a world of surprise with plenty of LMD magic,” she says. Before entering the lounge area, guests are greeted by a dramatic crystal chandelier, a waterfall of light-reflecting prisms cascading down three storeys. Morris decided that the grand staircase that curls around it had to have equal impact. So she grounded the design in pure sophistication by laying a
It really is a magnificent space with a special charm. The entire space resonates with strength, elegance and a sense of celebration, and beautifully represents LMD’s design expertise.
magnificent custom-designed floor, an intricate fantasy of swirling arabesques rendered in shades of blue, white and gray Italian marble.
Most strikingly, the staircase’s curved walls are covered with exquisite wallpaper embossed to resemble crocodile skin, in deep lapis lazuli blue, whose textured, high-gloss finish is a fresh and modern interpretation of the classic pattern. A navy blue geometric-embossed silk-and-wool carpet runner underfoot combines to inject glamour and drama, while adding to the sense of elegance and anticipation.
A hallmark of LMD style is a fashionably fearless colour palette, most often containing rich jewel tones. For this project, the “no rules” designer deftly combined variations of deep blue to form an enticing backdrop. Psychologists say the hue is about both tranquility and authority, leading to positive feelings. It is also favoured by both the client and designer. “There's really no colour that's off limits,” Morris says. “But when a client likes blue as much as I do, it's always exciting for me.”
Entering the lounge feels like a natural progression, as its curved walls are also finished in blue crocodile wallpaper. Two
curvaceous lapis lazuli velvet upholstered sofas face each other and frame a view of an arched and mirrored door. Striking fluted brass coffee tables provide both function and refined sheen, reflecting light and creating visual movement throughout the lounge. Shades of rust, gold and teal are introduced through throw pillows and chairs covered with fabric bearing motifs from Italian Baroque paintings. They help set the artistic mood, while evoking a sense of a classic but modern gentleman’s lounge.
The bar area sits off to the left. “It was important for the owner to have space to entertain in a big way,” Morris explains. “So I divided the space into three distinct and stylish zones.” The bar area is beautifully illuminated by azure Murano glass pendant lights, while high overhead sparkles an exuberant and whimsical crystal-and-gold chandelier, part Rococo excess, part modern Sputnik, all original. The blue lacquered bar, complete with brass-framed shelves and antique mirrored back, features elegant cerulean marble counters and graceful brass bar stools.
To the right, the games area offers bar-height lacquer tables and stools. As well, velvet benches are set in niches defined with rust-coloured walls. Not only is orange a

trending shade for 2025, but being opposite blue on the colour wheel, it adds impact. With her artist’s eye, Morris is known for combining Old-World opulence with a love of modern art. Throughout this gentleman’s lounge, works were chosen that reflect that approach and add a playful, even cheeky, touch. In the games area, a Mona Lisa-inspired artwork is flanked by two contemporary resin wall sculptures that reference dart boards, all overlooking a sapphire velvet-topped pool table.
The extraordinary home theatre section is dominated by an imposing sectional sofa with seating for up to 50 guests, upholstered in deep teal velvet with taupe sherpa-textured back cushions. Complementing it are lush, soundabsorbing navy-blue velvet drapes and chic leopard-patterned carpet, atop which sit cobalt lacquered drinks tables. A marble fireplace with brass strapping injects a sense of presence, while an abundance of throw pillows of varying colours and textures adds comfort and flair.
In this gentleman’s lounge, the multi-faceted magic of Lori Morris Design shines through. Myriad details, one upon the other, conspire to create an overall curated cohesion that is both bold and inviting. Its distinctive palette, dramatic lighting and luxurious materials come together to create an atmosphere of sophisticated leisure, where every element is meticulously chosen to reflect the owner’s elevated sense of style, vibrant personality and love of entertaining.
“It really is a magnificent space with a special charm,” Morris says. “The entire space resonates with strength, elegance and a sense of celebration, and beautifully represents LMD’s design expertise.”

One of their most memorable outings was a place on every design lover’s bucket list: Fogo Island Inn. The striking Newfoundland hotel is the creation of tech entrepreneur Zita Cobb and architect Todd Saunders, and while Stamp & Hammer is responsible for some similarly breathtaking buildings, it was the personal details that really stood out for Bech and Sauder.
“It is so special how they work as a community,” says Bech, recalling a treasured dinner they had with Cobb, where
she spoke about how the hotel collaborates with locals and artists on everything from building furniture to giving tours of the tiny island.
It’s the same personal touch and attention to detail that has helped Stamp & Hammer stand out as a full-service agency since 2013. The two business partners estimate they and their team of 10 have about 25 projects on the go currently, at various stages, with work generally split evenly between luxury developments and custom builds (including vacation homes and second or third houses).
Big or small, each project benefits from the team’s humancentred approach to design. This can look like anything from renderings that consider every inch of a home and how it will be used (no blank spaces here) to client relationships that last long past the point where most firms would have parted ways.
“Clients will call us up years later and say, ‘We want to change this, do this renovation; what do you think?’” says Bech. She

"We are helping people build their dreams. We are helping them create their legacies, and it’s so incredible to be a part of that."
notes that they often skip the standard project checklists to ask the real questions and get to the heart of what clients actually want—even if they don’t know it at first. “Each project is a true reflection of its client,” says Sauder.
Much of Stamp & Hammer’s work has a notable youthful, edgy energy that flows into the firm’s offices and personal style. Sauder says someone recognized their work at a nearby business recently, despite the fact that there were no signs or publicity. But it’s clear their expertise and tastes are always in service of a bigger vision. On their roster right now is a project in North Toronto, a new build that is being constructed to look as if it’s been there for 100 years, a high-end boutique development in Nova Scotia, and four custom homes just north of Dallas.
Part of their ability to be so flexible may be due to the strengths each partner brings: Bech’s Danish upbringing and refined Scandinavian sensibilities, matched with Sauder’s creativity and artistry, all based in the heart of Toronto’s cultural mosaic. “I always tell people, ‘You’re getting two for one,’” Bech says.
And their international, holistic approach extends to luxury developments with a range of aesthetics, complexity and functions. When people question how working on developments affects their reputation as a boutique agency, Bech points out
that they’re not exactly designing basic suburbs; they’re creating entirely new luxury communities. And while the firm has never followed fleeting trends, it’s noticeable that people are seeking out community more than ever. Not just homes (or condos, or townhouses), but places to gather, interact, greet family and explore culture. “We get a seat at the table,” says Bech, about these projects. They are brought in from the beginning to weigh in on not just aesthetics or function, but how people live their lives, their tastes and their needs around wellness and culture. And the team can then take their knowledge, insight and connections into other projects they work on.
Some of their developments include boutique hotels and golf clubs in Florida, a Muskoka waterfront community, Europeaninspired townhouses in the GTA (complete with cobblestone streets) and a Scandinavian infill project in Richmond Hill. A look at the dizzying array of developments on the company’s website— no two alike, but all stand-out properties—offers insight into Stamp & Hammer’s vision. These aren’t vast, interchangeable spaces; they are full of life, style, refinement and possibility.
"We are helping people build their dreams,” Sauder says. “We are helping them create their legacies, and it’s so incredible to be a part of that.”

EXCELLENCE HONOURING
The dazzling and glamorous 2025 Living Luxe Awards Show gala, a Diamond A air, highlighted multifaceted Canadian talent.

For a second year, the Living Luxe Awards Show this April showcased Canadian architects, real estate builders and developers, designers and fashion creators who are a cut above, capping off a memorable weekend of excellence at the Living Luxe Design Show in the Toronto Congress Centre. This year’s recipients were honoured at a fittingly themed Diamond Affair.
“We’re delighted to hold this awards gala celebrating amazing Canadian entrepreneurs,” says Living Luxe publisher Jennifer Lipkowitz. “It’s wonderful to spotlight people whose immense creativity and talents are sometimes overlooked simply because they don’t have the vast marketing

resources of global brands.”
The glamorous gala took place at the distinguished Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex. The Diamond Affair, organized by Diana Pires Events, was indeed dazzling, with many attendees decked out in precious stones to add their sparkle to the gala’s stylish glitter. “This year’s theme was so much fun,” Lipkowitz adds. Flower sponsor The Rosarium Luxury Roses, linen sponsor Chair Decor, and decor sponsors Precious Flowers Event Design and Selibrate ensured the venue was adorned to match the occasion.
Of course, the night’s true gems were the winners. The awards recognize entrepreneurs and creatives at the

pinnacle of redefining the standards and possibilities within their respective fields through their dedication, innovation and excellence.
The competition was stiff, and electing the winners proved challenging, with an even greater number of nominations than last year. “The keen participation indicates the significance these awards carry,” Lipkowitz says, adding she’s glad she didn’t have to decide. Up to the task was a design panel of formidable creative powerhouses with a broad range of expertise, including Liberty Entertainment Group’s vice president and creative director Nadia Di Donato, award-winning fashion entrepreneur George Sully, acclaimed designer

Lori Morris, renowned architect Martha Franco, and acclaimed architect Gianpiero Pugliese.
OE Design by Omid Taba took home two awards over the course of the evening. The first, the Builder Award, honoured the studio’s high-calibre bespoke residences and commercial properties. The OE Design Gallery by Omid Taba, a moody and textural backdrop for the show’s first formal art display, wowed the judges and earned the studio the prestigious Outstanding Booth Design award, entitling it to a cover story in Living Luxe magazine.
This year’s new People’s Choice Award, chosen by Living Luxe Design Show visitors, went to the opulent and immersive booth created by Cava Surfaces, a premium supplier of exquisite slabs of stone. “The Living Luxe Show had computer terminals where attendees could vote for their favourite presenter,” Lipkowitz says. “How wonderful to have this public feedback!”
Jordan Stewart, the creative force behind RVNG Couture, earned the Fashion Icon Award for her architectural silhouettes, rich textures and unapologetically feminine pieces. Her collections are created to empower women with a meticulous couture that Stewart first embraced as a child when her grandmother taught her to sew.
For the new Dine & Design award, the panel consisted of TV host, designer and creative director Amanda Aerin, foodie and entrepreneur Steven Branco, award-winning journalist Rita DeMontis, and Living Luxe’s co-founder and chief

operating officer Anthony Sirianni. “We felt it was essential to have a special panel to judge this category because of the unique aesthetics required to complement food properly,” Sirianni says. This year’s award went to Don Alfonso 1890, the first North American restaurant of chefs Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino.
Wise Nadel Design, which specializes in designing highend homes by dovetailing luxurious form with function, received this year’s Living Luxe Award, recognizing excellence in the world of interior design. Vogt Industries took the Product Innovation prize for its sleek and intuitive bath and kitchen designs, while Canaroma Bath & Tile earned the Inspirational Showroom Award thanks to its
beautifully appointed 20,000-square-foot showroom.
The Architectural Innovation Award was presented to Richard Wengle Architect Inc. for its clever integration of new technologies and materials while remaining faithful to functional beauty and timeless elegance. Synchronizing with its 90th anniversary, Tridel was chosen for the Luxury Condominium Development Award as a leading Canadian homebuilder committed to craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability. Another long-established institution, Harvey Kalles Real Estate Ltd., won the Brokerage Excellence Award, thanks to its over 65 years of serving Toronto with the utmost professionalism.
Young entrepreneurs were also recognized with designer

Lipkowitz is also delighted that the Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award went to wallpaper installer and designer Katie Hunt, whose stunning REMIX Walls wall murals are increasingly sought after thanks to their bold prints and high-quality texture.
“She exemplifies the possible creativity of someone who started her business out of her home,” Lipkowitz says.
The Diamond Affair was made not only possible but exquisite with the support of several other key sponsors, including Cosentino, Marbella, House of Rohl, Khayeri Curated Flooring, Mirror Mirror Activations, Medusa Entertainment, and Scratch Experience Group.

All who attended—both those who left with a crystalline trophy and those who didn’t—enjoyed a resplendent evening of delicious dinner, dazzling lights and amazing company, all in honour of the thriving creative and entrepreneurial spirit of Canada. Already, sights have turned to next year’s awards gala, which promises to be even bigger, bolder and more glamorous. Entries are now open for the 2026 show—to take part in all the glamorous fun next year enter yourself or your colleagues at www.livingluxedesignshow.ca.
OME EART WITH A A
In Toronto, this sophisticated and inviting family-centred home is all about creating the perfect balance.

For a home that is at once timeless and contemporary, stately and playful, look no further than the residence created by architectural designer Contempo Studio on Government Road in Toronto. Here, grandeur and sophistication coexist in harmony with intimacy and warmth.
For principal Marin Zabzuni, the vision was to create a home with soul for his clients. “The look they wanted was almost farmhouse-style, with peak gables, lots of brick and windows,” he says. “It’s a very charming home—one meant for a family to enjoy and feel the warmth of.”
The story of this Kingsway residence begins with a family relocating to Toronto from Saskatchewan. The owners purchased the property without ever even setting foot inside it, based on Contempo Studio’s reputation alone. For Zabzuni, this leap of faith was both humbling and motivating. “It was a great fit,” he says. “We collaborated closely throughout, and
they still live here happily. It’s a true family home.”
Designed between 2020 and 2021, the house was conceived as a long-term residence for a young family with children. Its facade of classic gabled peaks and handsome brickwork casts a striking silhouette against the tree-lined road. Inside, light pours through copious windows, softening the transitional architecture. “The way we designed the proportions and layouts, it feels very comfortable, with just enough space for every room,” Zabzuni says. “It’s not too big, not too small, but a really great use of space.”
That balance carries through the interiors, where clean, contemporary lines are paired with idiosyncratic touches that speak to the family’s personality. Step into the powder room and you’ll encounter a bold, monkey-patterned tile, one of several unexpected, playful and delightful details throughout the property. “They wanted something fun,” says Zabzuni of

his clients’ willingness to take a chance on whimsy. “Guests see it; the kids love it. It adds personality and makes the home unique.”
Elsewhere, elements such as wallpaper adorned with animal motifs and printed-cowhide ottomans infuse the home with a sense of approachable elegance. The heart of the home beats strongest in the kitchen, where warm wood cabinetry and white porcelain surfaces create a clean, simple canvas for everyday dining and entertaining. Subtle architectural details, such as arched entryways in the pantry and bar area, soften the geometry and connect the spaces with a sense of rhythm. “Wherever we could, we added warmth with arches, with wood, with proportion,” Zabzuni says.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom is a serene retreat. A soaring vaulted ceiling reaches upward, capped by a panelled feature wall
that draws the eye and accentuates the gabled form. The effect is almost cathedral-like, but toned down for daily living. “That vaulted ceiling is the biggest feature,” Zabzuni says. “It feels incredible— warm and inviting, exactly what the clients wanted from day one.”
Light, both natural and artificial, was handled with reverence throughout the design. Skylights brighten hallways, large windows invite in views of greenery, and sunlight spills across a long, charcoal-coloured breakfast bench where the family gathers to dine. For a family accustomed to Saskatchewan’s endless skies, an abundance of natural light was essential. “Natural light always makes a home feel more inviting,” Zabzuni notes. “It was part of the design from the beginning.”
Behind the home, the property offers a generous backyard, with

"THE HEART OF THE HOME BEATS STRONGEST IN THE KITCHEN, WHERE WARM WOOD CABINETRY AND WHITE PORCELAIN SURFACES CREATE A CLEAN, SIMPLE CANVAS FOR EVERYDAY DINING AND ENTERTAINING."
plenty of seating and a verdant lawn that provides ample space for the children to play and explore. Trees were planted for privacy, creating a green cocoon where family life unfolds. With a basement playroom and walk-out access, the outdoors feels seamlessly tied to the indoors.
It’s difficult to choose a favourite feature from Contempo Studio’s Government Road home—the monkey-tiled powder room, the vaulted ceiling in the primary bedroom and the cozy bar nook all
compete for first place—but it's clear that the residence’s cumulative effect is wonderfully captivating.
The family’s trust in Contempo Studio, given before a single wall was raised, was repaid with a home that feels authentically theirs. “We still keep in touch with them,” says Zabzuni of the home’s residents. “They often host family and friends, and the house really shines in those moments. It was designed for living, for warmth, for connection.”
